“Very slowly, the knives became needles; and then after a while just mere tingles, as my body healed. By sunrise I took a shallow breath and looked around at the blood on the ground. A shaky laugh rattled its way out of me. I was definitely not normal.”

When sixteen year old Avi moves to Santa Barbara for her mother’s new job, she is hoping to find a peaceful place to call home. After years of barely scraping by, this is the opportunity her family really deserves. Avi easily makes friends, gets her first job, and finds time to enjoy the scenery. But the boys she meets, though appealing, come at a price.
One boy never lets his guard down, so people never know the secrets he keeps. Maybe something is wrong with him, or maybe he is not even human. Because if he was, wouldn't he be dead by now?

I am a long time writer, first time author. My first book, Affinity, is a young adult paranormal romance - my favorite kind of book! I recently finished a short sequel written from Avi's sister's point of view. It is an easy read packed with Jena's unique perspective and loads of love. Both books are available in paperback or for kindle on Amazon.com

So there's a pro for every con I enjoyed Affinity but im not going to say that its the greatest. I loved how Murphy had events unfold as well as her plot line it was very interesting but I hope the next one picks up not to say this one was boring or slow. Surprisingly some of the things that happened, wow were they... raw. So now for some cons I was really digging the book until Avi has that breakdown with Him and then gets almost obsessed but shes a trooper after what she sees but still she really lost it later and that just lowered my opinion of Avi. Up until then Avi is an awesome character who is strong willed, smart, and sassy. I have to say Yayeah! to Murphy for having His POV unlike others were the guy comes of as a total jerkoff, brooding, and emotionally scarred heros (im tired of those in YA) because we have no idea whats going on in his head. He is obsessed from the start and hes a
such a great guy but alittle too perfect? once they get together though they have such synchronicity that is makes me slightly nauseous, envious, and impatient. Next ,god really, he keeps stuff from her and does the reckless stupid solo trip to protect her and shut her out grr he also has some he-man wtf moments. Avi finally got my respect right there at the end Avi redeemed herself. That twist at the end was unexpected an I applaude Murphy on it! Seriously I hope she gets around to a sequel because I want to know what happens next :-) ooops I almost forgot to mention that I recieved a copt through Goodreads First Reads and it was so beautifully packaged I almost didnt want to open it, Thanks t o Amanda Murphy

Affinity keeps you on your toes, excites you, and consumes all of your free time. Once Avi Adryn moves to the coast, she is the girl everyone wants. But there's only one person she actually is interested in, Phoenix Sheldrake. Phoenix is also attracted to Avi in a way he's never experienced before. As they continue to fall for one another, Phoenix reveals his secrets; secrets that nobody else knows. They go through near death experiences together and when Phoenix gets caught in an organization with his "type," is Avi safe? Phoenix has fought to protect Avi, but when he is the one in danger, she turns out to be his rescuer. Overall, this has been one of the best books I've ever read, and I just can't wait and hope for the sequel.

AFFINITY by AMANDA MURPHY was an awesome book to read over summer vacation. It had a lot of description that as I kept reading on, I felt like I was actually right next to the characters as the scenes occurred. The details are amazing! Every chapter had me so intrigued wanting to read more and more. I really enjoyed reading this book! I really recommend this book to those teens and grownups that like to read some books that have action and romance in them. Overall this is one of the best books that I have read! And i am hoping that there will be another book after this one!

For me, all the superpower and love that its meant to be and if not i shALL DIE shit, was unnecessary. It would have been just fine being a YA love story. I would have like it more without all that things that maYBE sell more books.
