EXPERIENCE: a book of poems
Experience isn't what happens to you - it's what you with what happens to you. I have shared this aphorism of mine with innumerable students over my close to 20 years of teaching. Yet, I find that the theory doesn't always match the practice in our lives as human beings. Too often the actions and the thoughts drift apart - suspect of one another - and the harmony we should have and function under is lost or altogether nonexistent. I wonder what would happen if we just - appraised words, thoughts, and actions a bit more?
My book attempts to evoke some of these inconsistencies and opportunities through free verse haiku. The ebb and flow of life and the repercussions of my being "Me" are recorded herein. I hope that the poems and ideas provide a headspace for your own reflection, consideration, and empowerment.
