The Lost Fae Kings #3

Roar of the Storm King

Rate this book
Taranis, the powerful King of Storms, bears the weight of restoring the fragile balance of magic between the worlds. It’s a shame his inner dragon has other priorities.

With his dragon knights at his side, Taranis is determined to defeat the Fomorian mage and shatter his remaining spells. The last thing he expects is to encounter Quinn, a captivating human whose melodic voice reveals secrets she shouldn't even know.

Quinn thought her new job singing at Ritual was going to the perfect gig, right until she’s attacked by crazy mages and then kidnapped by a hot Fae King with a bad attitude. To make matters more confusing, she’s been dreaming of him and his dragons her entire life and has no idea why.

There’s something about Quinn that’s drives Taranis’s inner beast crazy. The fact her dream magic is fixated on their enemies is only the beginning of his worries. The Fomorian mage wants to claim her as his mate, and Taranis isn’t inclined to give up Quinn now that he has her. Dragons don’t share their treasure, and Taranis will learn just how far he’ll go in order to keep her safe and make her his own.

'Roar of the Storm King' is book three in a new fated mate's trilogy, based in the same world as the best-selling 'Fae Universe' series. It’s perfect for fans of K F Breene and C N Crawford or anyone who loves Fae Romance with plenty of magic, myth, and spice. Please note it contains swearing, sex scenes and graphic violence.

Dragon Daddy

Let’s be honest, Alessa Thorn can do no wrong. I’ve wanted to live in this universe since Kian stormed London but each book seems to get even better. Taranis is a moody dragon that wants nothing but to finish his mission and restore magic. Quinn just wants to be accepted for who she is and what she wants and might be a little bit bossy and bada$$. Taran never stood a chance! This is a definite must read! Oberon, Mananan and Taranis’ banter is perfecting as his Taranis and Quinn’s banter. Seriously this is one perfect family!

Once more into the land of magical and sexy Fae royalty we go! Our beloved Fae Prince & King extended family are ready for their final battle with the Fomorians. Taranis and his Dragon Knights are ready to do whatever they have to in order to fix magic and restore peace to both worlds, even if it means going up against an old ally.

Quinn has been a bit of a loaner after distancing herself from her cruel and un-loving family, but that’s all about to change when the dragon king she’s been dreaming about for her whole life shows up for real. Now she’ll gain more loving and exciting and loud family than she’ll know what to do with 😊

These two have the kind of chemistry that mirrors the heat and sometimes explosive quality of fireworks. From the needling and banter to the very steamy intimate moments, these two are fantastic together. So hop on this third installment of the Fae King train and get ready for quite the ride!!!

Themes, Tropes, & Notes :
❤️ The third Fae King gets his mate
🖤 FMC is an artist, singer, creative
❤️ Dual POV
🖤 Fae & Magic
❤️ Final showdown with the evil mages from books 1&2
🖤 Cameos from the other Fae kings & ironwoods, but most importantly cameos by the Greatdrakes family. Can’t wait for them to get their series next 😍

The Dragon Daddy

I think what I love the most about Alessa Thorn’s couples is that each pairing not only has such great chemistry each time but the relationship is a reflection of the characters , and not cookie cutter each book.

Taran and Quinn are hott hott hott. Quinn had me laughing out loud with her dirty humor.

This book in particular had great banter not just between the MCs but also the side characters , some of which will probably get their own stories down the line.

Overall a great read and addition to the Fae Universe Thorn has created.

Another excellent story with characters crafted in the world filled with individuals and not paper cutouts. I love this author for that. Yet another story of a woman who has been abused or downtrodden or treated badly enough that she doubts who she is and what her power is. So it is her coming into power and believing who she is combined with the strength and ferocity of the dragon shifters. And thank God that she didn't dumb it down or make it less intense or violence because it just wouldn't have done Justice to the characters.

For that alone it's a five star.

The only thing I didn't like about the actual plot line is how quickly resolved it was. I mean we're talking about something that's gone across many books and in this three-story series of the same world - I didn't think it would be resolved with such ease.

But you know there's only so many pages people can read I guess. Still though I would have liked to have known more about the evil mage. And maybe more about some of the monsters. There was such great fun in the previous book with the monsters that this was a little disappointing.

Really enjoyed watching the anguish and downfall of the male main character - not because he was a jerk but because his arrogance needed to be tempered and that was part of the beauty of the pairing. excellent book sad the series is over but as always there's these little inklings of which pair is coming next so perhaps in the future we will have another new series!

In the meantime I'm just going to bask in the glow of yet another really excellent book by Alessa Thorn

i didn’t like how main characters met for the first time. taranis spanked fmc for answers- wtf?? he was acting like a spoiled child.

i liked quinn.
“It's part of my appeal. That and my epic tits," she replied, placing her arm under the running tap.
Taranis's eyes dropped to her bloody tank top. "They are rather epic."
"Thanks. I made them myself.”

but she sometimes sounded obnoxious. i felt like she hit a switch at the middle of the book.

i think i’m going to read next books in the series. i want to read imogen’s story. she seemed as badass as they get.

Absolute chaotic perfection

The entire Lost Kings series has been so wonderful, and this is the PERFECT end to the trilogy. The chaotic energy fueling this book gives it everything I need and then some. If you’ve wondered what kind of woman could handle Manic Taranis, just get ready. The story, the romance, the banter - I can’t get enough!

Let me start by saying I love Alessa and will continue to read everything she writes. This book, however, wasn’t it for me. Fucking fuck I wanted to love this so badly, and I am so disappointed. I read the chapter one teaser like a month ago? And was hooked. And then we meet Quinn. And there’s a kidnapping attempt. And then Taran decides to punish her for said kidnapping attempt (which is no fault of her own!) by some non-consensual and non-sexy spanking? That scene made me soooo uncomfortable. He talked to her like a child but then his dick twitched (why are the dicks always twitching?) It went downhill from there. Quinn was the epitome of every negative ADHD trait, and that’s me being nice about it. She was no dragon queen in my opinion, because she was so obnoxious and immature. And my opinion of Taranis was truly quite high before diving into this book. I thought, “here we go, book 1 was boring, book 2 was steamy and great, I just know this last book is going to check all the boxes because Taran is smart, sexy, and magically the most powerful!” But nope. We have the typical alpha male who’s refusing to admit he’s found his mate, then proceeds to fuck her repeatedly while calling her his slut. Yes, you read that correctly, every single spicy scene he calls her a slut. And it just ruined it for me. On the one hand, the alpha male vibe was off the charts, and then suddenly here’s Taranis sobbing…again. Did this make for a complex character? No, instead he felt confused and muddled for me.

The highlights were the cameos from past characters. We might even get a story for every single Greatdrake in the future, which would be great. But the plot line has got to diverge from the lost fae kings by leaps and bounds if they’re going to succeed or hold my interest.

So not only is the audio narrator extremely unsexy, his voices for all the side characters were horrendous. I will stick to the kindle versions of this series in the future bc that man did not do these books justice.

The development was a little different from the other books, especially regarding the mating bond. I enjoyed very much how it played out in the storyline.

The ending was a little anticlimactic, especially because it was the last book in the series, things could be wrapped up better and less rushed. But, hey, the smut is fiiiiine though.

Taranis and Quinn are definitely a hot, power couple and I loved how they complement each other. Quinn's personality could have used more development, because it's pretty much boils down to Taran. Loved loved loved Taran and his vulnerability, I have a weak spot for character who can properly communicate their feelings.

Overall, this series is a good entertainment. It flows easily and the smut is totally worth it. The found family trope is really strong in the Fae Universe and probably one of the best parts of it. But it's getting so big, so it's getting hard to keep tracking of all characters and their stories. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold the same appeal from the OG series.

I love Alessa Thorn. If she wrote it, I’m reading it. But my problem with this third installment is the problem I had with the third book in Wrath of Faes. It’s a predictable pattern. Quinn helps bring the overall fight against the Big Bad to a conclusion but her part is predictable. She has dreams of the alters. They find the alters. Fight monsters who are guarding the altars (and despite this playing out exactly the same in two previous books, they are surprised by the monsters). The one dimensional bad guy invades the FMC’s dreams. There’s a battle that the good guys win quickly and easily. The bad guy is defeated quickly and pathetically.

I like this family of characters and I like the world. I will definitely read the Greatdrakes series when it emerges. She’s still a great writer and I still adore her.

But I must say that her works where bad guys are the heroes are better: Court of Underworld and Mercenaries and Magic.

Alessa’s book are amazing, I love her style of writing! I also love how this world keeps getting bigger and better!!!!!

Taran is our amazing, dragon shifter (KING!) MMC. He’s the king of the dragons and is not looking for a mate…. Here comes Quinn, who’s dreamt of Taran her entire life. Knows secret dragon songs she shouldn’t and totally turns Taran’s world upside down! I loved their banter! In fact all the characters have incredible banter that make you laugh for days, and feel like you’re with old friends. I loved seeing how Quinn just had Taran wrapped around her little finger immediately and he was just so stunned!!

I adore seeing the same characters and their new antics in this one - can I just say I adore Apollo especially! I desperately need his book!

This world (it’s part of the bigger Fae Kings series by Alessa) keeps getting bigger and better every time. I can’t wait for the Greatdrakes books!

I feel I should mention I don’t like the Daddy thing. However I loved Taranis and and Quinn, it works, I love her pure unadulterated self assurance, nothing and nobody will ever make her less and that’s why they work because for all Taranis‘s power and domineering-ness it never makes Quinn less, never makes her small. If anything it shows that she has all the power and that works for me. I’m heart broken this came to an end and hope 2024 comes quickly so I can get the Greatdrakes, I need those books.

Taran was hard!

Meeting a singer who dreams about you and has the mark of your dragon should have been a clear sign that a mate was manifesting. Taran was so resistant it made the heroine Quinn really understanding and sexually attracted to him, able to break through his blindness. When he realized he knew the mage/dragon who was terrorizing the Fae and Human planes he was reluctant to let Quinn who develops her internal power for dragons help. Stronger than he thought Quinn is resourceful and helps save the day!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

I can already tell the wait for more stories in this world is going to be unbearable but also so worth it! I looooooooooooved Taran’s book, and he and Quinn were so fiery and epic. The banter and snark and spiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice were off the charts. All the cameos from my beloved favorites in the series, the culmination of one heck of a plot, and the sneaky peak at who’s next- gah! Could not have been any better, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

DRAGONS YASSSSS. Now I will admit that I thought this was the first book of these 3 and I didn't check. So I consumed it not knowing it was the end. The princes went red green blue so I thought that was the same order 😭. I loved the storm king though. He's a dragon with a healing affinity and he is basically a SCIENTIST. YES PLEASE. I'm sad to see this universe go but I love how the male characters are so empathetic and yet warriors without the toxic being so loud.

I love it so much! Quinn was one of the baddest Fmc in the whole series, I want her to interact with Imogen so badly!!! I think it would be the most iconic thing ever.
Anyway, this book was amazing and I'm so sad this series has come to an end! I'm going to reread the other books while I wait for the next one :(

A great addition to the series

Loved finally reading Taranis' mating story, it was a perfect end to these installments of the Fae series.
Btw i fully endorse and cannot WAIT to read about the Greatdrakes (and little Moira, tho I realize hers will be later) and what their mission(s) will be.

I love the Fated Mates Fantasy

I am in love with your Fated Mates Fantasy series! I was intrigued by the time I began to read the first book in the series. It had all you could want in a fantasy romance book. If you enjoy, love, hate, adventure, magic, danger with a little spice. you will definitely enjoy this series!!
