A rock star with a troubled past, One woman can heal his untamed heart... Fate has other plans.
Miami rock DJ Dana Drew, sounds like she has it all...cool career, sultry voice and lots of attitude. Behind the mic, it's a different story. When the guy who was supposed to be "the one" moves out, Dana's life goes into a tailspin. Relationships are the number one casualty of her dream job and this was the last straw. Dana's friend, married drive time DJ Jonny Rock, has always been there for her, but lately his penchant for needy interns is pushing Dana away - and threatening his career. Then Dana meets Cody Blue Smith, the ruggedly sexy lead singer of an up and coming new band. The connection between them is electric, but Cody harbors a dark secret that has kept him from ever having a meaningful relationship. Dana is caught off guard by her feelings and tries to find a place in his crazy rock and roll life. Problem is, she's not alone. Dana is being watched, stalked by a listener who plans to make her his...by whatever means necessary.

Lisa's career began in radio more than two decades ago. Career highlights include interviewing music legend Billy Joel. When she's not writing, Lisa is a successful voiceover artist who works with some of the biggest names in radio and television.
Good HEA ending but the rest was just meh. With several inconsistancies in the story and also some weird jumping around from character to character and also different time frames for those characters I'm going to give it a 2.25
I remember the time when radio and disc jockeys were a big part of the music world, the time when you heard the newest up and coming hit from your favorite DJ, and Lisa Wainland captures that wonderfully in Rock Radio. That said, I felt like this story wasn't quite sure what it wanted to be. Blended genres can work, but there were times when I felt like I was reading two completely separate stories. Dana and Jonny's storylines do intersect, but most of the time it's in passing with a quick conversation rather than either of them actually affecting the life of the other. Nevertheless, each storyline did hold my interest, and I wanted to see how it would all play out. I can't say that I wanted sunshine and roses for both of them, but I did want to see how it would conclude. The blurb is misleading about some things, especially the romance between Cody and Dana. It's quite some time before they even meet, and I wasn't completely sold on the instant connection between them. From there, it's kind of a slow moving romance that feels fast paced. I will say that connection or no, Cody and Dana do have great chemistry. We also have some suspense with a stalker determined to have Dana for himself. We know who it is from the time he's introduced, but the suspense builds with each new thing he does to get Dana's attention and just how far he'll go with it. In the end, there were things I liked and others, well, not so much, but the story did exactly what a story should. It held my attention and made me want to see what would happen in the end.
Rock Radio is told in third person with 4 different POVs, so it was hard at first to keep up, but once I did, I was off and running. There's Dana Drew, the sweet DJ who wants real love, not that fake crap that comes her way more often than not because of her DJ status. Things seem to be looking up on the love front with Cody Blue. He's a singer for a rock band, with a big heart & terrible past. That past could knock them out before they ever really get started if revealed. Next up is the douchebag, Jonny, who has the perfect life, but likes to cheat on his wife with an intern. I did NOT like him at all, as his ego was HUGE, and his cheating absolutely gross. Finally, Dana's stalker has things to say. He's obsessed with Dana, and is determined to make her his no matter the cost. Yeah, he's a total catch. This story was definitely unique, as the days of DJ's aren't serious anymore, but they were at one time. There's drama, heat, and twists to get the f-bombs dropping. That's all I have because don't want to give anymore away, so one click this story to find out how it all pans out! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Rock Radio is told in the third person from four different points of view. That being said, it was easy to follow along, I never felt like I was lost. The characters are well developed. We get their past, present and eventually their future 😉.
Dana Drew and Jonny Rock, work at the WORR rock station in Miami, Florida. Dana is looking for her one true love. Jonny is married and cheating on his wife with newest intern. Cody is an up and coming musician who has escaped a horrible childhood. Larry is Dana Drew’s stalker.
I’m not a huge fan of stories told in the third person, but Rock Radio held my interest from beginning to end. There is drama galore happening at WORR! From Jonny’s affair, to Dana’s love interests, Cody’s rise to fame and Larry’s plans to have Dana all to himself. I wanted to slap Jonny, hug Dana, high five Cody and duck tape Larry to chair.
Rock Radio was my first read by this author and won’t be the last. I was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review.
This story follows the lives of two disk jockeys from a Florida radio station. Dana Drew is looking for love with a man that will see her for more than her music personality. She finds it with Cody Blue, a rock singer and sweet guy with a terrible past. She also has a creepy stalker that is determined to get her no matter the cost. Johnny Rock is another disc jockey at the station. He has a wife, cheats with young interns and is good friends with Dana. He has it all but may lose it when his side chick wants more than he's willing to give and takes matters into her own hands. This was an interesting read.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
This is a unique and complex storyline, with DJ Dana, and up and coming lead singer of a band, Cody, and well as a married DJ Jonny, who is risking everything by having an affair with intern, Heather. This is a good story which is fast paced and intriguing. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Rock Radio started off really slow for me, mostly due to all the different character POV’s. For this reason, I found this book difficult to follow at times. We meet DJ Jonny Rock, growing up as a big geek and turning to a hot, sexy, trimmed in all the right ways that women love, and is married to the same woman for years. He ends up in a situation less than ideal that involves him cheating. I was totally irked throughout the book with the attitude Jonny portrays as “I am to big for my britches”.1961398_272604612903552_1307057909_n
The Next DJ, is Dana “Hill” Drew. I instantly was enthralled with her, she is a women trying to make it in the world of being a Disc Jockey.. and to be loved for her talents, not what she could give others…
Now we have Larry. He was a crazy fan of Dana, that screams “creepy”. Larry’s actions and behavior is very concerning.
Last but not least, is Cody Blue. He is the boy you fall in love with, he came from a broken home, managed to get out of a less than ideal situation and made something of himself… I have to say, this book put me over the edge. Tons of unexpected twists and turns. Lots of drama love and love be gone. It makes you sit up and take notice. I would recommend you read this if you haven’t. It was great!!
Big question now is who ends up with who? Did Jonny get what he deserves for being a cheating fool? Did Dana stalker get her? Did Cody Blue find love? Did Larry the stalker get his object of desire? So many twists to this story, I couldn’t help but be glad this book didn’t pass me by! The outcome was my favorite. ~Reviewed By Heather W. (copy of e-book was given in exchange for honest review)
Rock Radio gives you an inside view to what goes on behind the mic and on-air sign at a Florida radio station. The characters are well developed and each has a story in their own right. This is not your typical love story…
Dana is a sweet on air personality that finds it difficult to be in a relationship because she wants men to love her for who she is off air. After a failed relationship, she wonders if she will ever find her true love.
Jonny is a DJ at the radio station with Dana, he has it all, great job, loving wife and a taste for young interns. But that sweet taste can turn bitter very quickly. He is a good friend to Dana, but can’t be faithful to his own wife. Will he learn the errors of his ways?
Cody is a sexy young rocker, who had a tough childhood. There were parts of his past that were difficult to read, but you will find yourself routing for him all throughout the story. There is love and happiness in this heart throbs future!
This book was fun and sexy. There are characters you will plain love, love to hate and those that will get exactly what is coming to them. I believe that Ms. Wainland captured a great view of the lives of these main characters. If you are curious as to the life and world of a radio DJ, you will be satisfied when you are done reading Rock Radio!
An enjoyable romance/thriller/contemp that follows the lives of 2 DJs/friends as they each struggle to find what they want out of life. Johny Rock has it all. Cushy DJ job, loving wife, and a piece on the side When his mistress wants more from him then he is willing to give, she takes matters into her own hands. Fellow DJ Dana Drew loves her job but is looking to settle down and has marriage and babies on the brain. When her longtime lover leaves her, she meets and falls in love with rising rock star, Cody Blue Smith. Dana also has a stalker who feels they are destined to be together-regardless of what Dana really wants.
It has a comfy 70s vibe to it even though it's set in the present. We follow Johny, Dana, and Cody as their lives through the highs and lows of the music business. Wainland does a good job of bringing the reader into the DJ booth and experiencing the behind the scenes. I did wish for a bit more conflict. Everything is presented in a matter of fact way that doesn't leave much to the imagination.
Even with my little issues, I enjoyed this author's voice and will look for future books.
I won this book and received it a couple of days ago. Thank you LIsa! I finally had a chance to start reading it last night. 2:oo A.M. and I realized I had to put it down and go to bed. Didn't want to.
Its a story you just want to keep finding out what will happen next. The two main characters, Dana and Cody, find true love with each other. The background stories of all the characters in this book are so well written.
When there was major action accuring (don't want to give anything away), I realized I was almost finsih with the book. I was not happy about that. I wanted more. I love reading their story. But the ending was put together wonderfully. No cliff hangers.
I love books with sexy rock bands and this one didn't disappoint. I loved the characters especially Cody, I wanted to hug him as a kid and make it all better. I thought the writer captured his pain perfectly (loved the detail in his background) and his passion for his band, love of his life and life itself. I enjoyed Dana's character too, she's a sweet girl with a awesome on air personality but wants to love and to be loved. Those two together are prefect. Jonny I hated (I'm sick of cheating parts in books) but he's a good guy to Dana and later to Sharon. Crazy Larry is creepy and I'm glad he got what he got. I enjoyed this story 4 stars review by Nanee upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com
Really fantastic book. Lives of some people at a rock station mainly Dana Drew female dj and then Jonny Rock another dj. Follow their lives and the drama, love and mishaps. Also upcoming rock person Cody Blue into Dana's life with the telling of his past and present. One of them has a stalker and at the end things get alittle hairy. Growing up during a time when radio was a big deal really could relate when reading this book. Hope she writes more books would definitely read them. She knows how to put a story together.
I don’t want to say anything else about the story beyond the description, because I don’t want to give anything away. This book will have you on the edge of your seat, wondering what is going to happen next. Lisa captures the readers attention, and takes them down a rabbit hole of music, secrets, lies, and betrayal. She brings you into the story and makes you develop a relationship with her characters, so you feel like they are your friends or enemies. If you live books with music, rock n’ roll, and an amazing plot line, than you need to get this book as soon as possible, and start reading!
Dana Drew & Jonny Rock are radio personalities for a local Florida radio station. Jonny is married to Jill but is having a fling with an intern at the radio station named Heather. Dana is in a relationship, but has just been broken up with. Dana meets a new band and feels an instant connection with the lead singer Cody. Dana has a listener who thinks he is in love with her and continues to contact her. Will things work out for Cody & Dana? Jonny & Jill make it work? Read it to find it...
A rock star on the rise, a cheating dj and a rock princess looking for love. Rock Radio takes you into the world of radio by weaving a story of love, lust and deceit. The rock star image and on air personas are a mask for three lives complicated by mistresses, troubled pasts and heartbreak. A chilling stalker adds an edge-of-your-seat element to this rock romance. I found myself completely involved in the characters lives. It is a definite page turner that will leave you wanting more.
This book was very interesting. It held me from page on. It was an easy read, and one that kept me coming back for more!! It was hard to put down, but when I did, I did not have to read half of the previous chapter in order to remember where I was! I like that the characters are relate able, and reachable. I consider this book a keeper, and will tell others in my life that it is a good read. I feel good about being able to recommend it to Goodreads readers. Well worth the read! :)
After reading the synopsis, I thought this book would focus on Cody and Dana's relationship which is complicated by a stalker. What I got were two story lines, one about a married DJ screwing around with an intern and the Cody/Dana storyline. The book was well written, though I thought the ending was a bit rushed. I might have enjoyed it more the synopsis was a bit more accurate and included a hint at the Jonny Rock story line was such a large part of the book
Cute and fast read. I loved all the characters and thought it moved along at a great pace. This would be a great beach read.
I do think that the build up was really long and I would have liked to have had a bit more of Cody and Dana's story and a little less of Jonny/Jill/Heather. I did like the way the author was able to keep all the story lines going, clear, and mixed together..
When they introduced the characters in the beginning, I could not figure how they were all connected. Bit once you are about 15 percent into the book, it all starts to make sense. I loved the way this book was put together and enjoyed the entire book. Well worth the read, but you have to give it a little time understanding the characters.
If you are looking for a fun, light book to get lost in this is it! Romance, heartbreak, secrets, rock and roll…Rock Radio has it all. The story is fast paced, exciting and transitions smoothly between the characters, bringing it all together for a thrilling ending. I could not put it down!!
Finally, an original rock and roll romance with a strong female protagonist and a musician that's not a bad boy millionaire, with subplots beyond the 'boy meets broken girl and rocks her world' story line.
The book was all over the place but the author managed to weave everyone's story into a great book. I loved it! I read the book straight through, could not put it down!!! Free Kindle Read.
