A resident of Texas, I spend most of my days trying to turn my three girls into polite young ladies (it's not working). To somewhat keep my sanity, I spend my nights writing about love and the crazy, and sometimes beautiful, things that life can throw your way. My husband couldn't be happier because I'm much easier to live with now.

Just one touch... That's all it takes.

*Sigh* ... What a great love story.

Jordan Thomas' past has left her physically unable to accept a males touch. Even the smallest graze can send her into a full blown panic attack.

Until Blake...

Blake Barnes walks into Jordan's work and knows she is the one for him.

"I've been crazy over you before we met... You looking so sweet and embarrassed over a dropped plate of spaghetti. I wanted to jump up and go to you, make you smile because I knew if I did, I would be witnessing the most beautiful thing I've ever seen... Brighter than the damn sun."

Jordan and Blake's story is about love and growth and how true love can help heal old wounds.

"You make my life beautiful again, for the first time in a long time." He slides one arm around my waist, his hand on my back. The other arm goes up, that hand bunching the hair at the back of my head. Yanking my head back gently, he places an open mouth kiss on the base of my throat.
"We make life beautiful; it's just because of each other that we can now see the beauty."

Blake is a major reason Jordan wants to get better. He shows her that it's ok not to be perfect and to have flaws.

"You are beautiful all the time, but when you look truly happy, you make my chest hurt you're so goddamn magnificent."

A Simple touch also had some comedic relief and laugh out loud moments :)

"He is huge everywhere, but I tell myself I'm being stupid. Vaginas are one size fits all, right? I hope to god they are. Holy Christ on a cracker."

Bahahaha

If you love a real, emotional read with a love story that is true and honest A Simple Touch is it.

I really loved this book and I'm very excited about reading more from Natasha Wilson.

Natasha Wilson is a friend of a friend and a regular on my blog, so when she asked me to read her debut novel, A Simple Touch, I immediately agreed. She is really funny on Facebook so I was hoping it carried through to her book.

At first, I must say I was worried. Perhaps it was my mood, or the book just didn't grab me at first. It just seemed so formulaic. Broken girl who can't be touched, trips and falls (she is clumsy) and looks into piercing eyes. And those eyes keep coming back.... Add to that the funny, slutty, BFF. I was rolling my eyes thinking that she took every successful hook from every good book and used them all in the first 20 pages.

But then Natasha's voice came through. Despite the rocky start, I really fell for the characters, the writing and the story. I ended staying up till after 3am to finish it. I think it was this line that reeled me in:

"What exactly is a fuckbag?"

I can literally feel my face start to steam with mortification when I say, "It's a combination of fucktard and douchebag"

Jordan had a traumatic experience in her past and cannot be touched by a man, it causes an immediate panic attack. No man has touched her in 2.5 years. She works in a woman's shelter by day, something she absolutely loves, and can really relate to the women. By night, she waitresses at Serafina's an Italian restaurant. She is close with the owner, and works her ass off at both jobs, to avoid....living life.

Blake is the first guy that has caught her attention. He sees her fall at Serafina's and is hooked. He keeps coming back and sitting at her station. He asks her out and she refuses. She tries to pretend she isn't interested, she knows she is too fucked up to have a relationship...she can't even accidentally brush by a man. Yet Blake has gotten under her skin.

"You're delusional if you think for one second that I'm interested in you. You are so off my radar it isn't funny," I lie but hopefully he buys it. Blake laughs, so there goes that hope.

"You're feisty, and luckily I happen to like your brand of bitchiness."

Despite Blake grabbing her arm and Jordan freaking out, he wasn't going to give up. Blake grew up as an only child with wonderful, doting parents. He used to be a guitarist for a famous band, then quit to run the family oil business. He calls her Sugar and is all sexy and gentle alpha.

Jordan's best friend, and basically her lifeline is Dacey. Here is Dacey's reaction when she realized Jordan really liked Blake.

"I knew it, hooker! You so got it bad. You're gonna fall in luuurve and get married and make boom-boom all the time"

Blake knows she can't be touched...yet he is willing to still go for it. And he does a great job breaking down her barriers, pretty quickly. Though nobody else can touch her, Blake does a good job of touching her, all on his own.

The sex, (including hot wall sex) was written well, Natasha has been in my dirty words GNI chats, and I am proud to say, her sex scenes contain no yucky words!

"Sugar, all it takes is for you to make one of those low, throaty sounds and I forget everything but the need to be so deep inside you that you always remember how crazy I am for you..."

Likes:

-Love the author's voice. Dacey and Jordan talked like I talk to my girlfriends and it made me giggle throughout the story.
-Blake was crazy about Jordan and treated her perfectly. He was alpha, patient, and just pushy enough.
-Great sex!
-Blake's parents were awesome characters, I loved them! But I found the use of their first names so often threw me off. After the first meeting they were forever referred to by first names, Jenny and Mitchell, and never again as "Blake's parents".
-Once the story got going, I couldn't put it down, it had me happy and smiling throughout.
-There wasn't much angst, and from the beginning I thought it would be heartbreakingly angsty.
-A nice, happy, no cliffhanger ending.
-Jordan went to a therapist regularly to help overcome her issues.

Dislikes:

-My initial thought was that the author took every single known hook and threw it in this book. There was nothing unique to pull me in.
-Jordan got over her issues a little too quickly and easily.
-The way the story was played out was predictable.
-OMG, the errors. This was such a huge problem, that despite my enjoyment of the story, this was a deal breaker for me. No book should be published like this.
-This book felt so rushed to publication, and it could have been done so much better. Had Natasha taken the time to get a few beta readers and a proofreader then built up a little interest like a cover reveal and release blitz, this book could really be a winner. But it was released before it was even on Goodreads. Here is an author that actually had some connections that other indie authors would die for, but didn't use them!

Rating: 3.5 stars, 4 Heat

If just the errors were fixed, this would be a 4 star read. If there was a smoother beginning, this story could go even higher. The author has a load of potential, but jumped the gun on releasing this. Part of me is tempted to give a lower rating because honestly, I feel the amount of errors is just too high for publication, especially for a book that is more than $.99. But honestly, I enjoyed the book a lot despite the errors. Any story that was able to get me over that many errors, deserves more than 3 stars. Natasha has some great raw talent. She is writing Dacey's book now, and since I loved her character, I can't wait to read it. But personally, I think Natasha's focus should be on fixing this book and marketing it a bit before writing the sequel.

My Rating: ❤❤❤❤
VERY GOOD: The characteristics of a 4 heart book include: a great story; I loved the characters; and there was an interesting plot and unique story elements; there may have been a few odd things kept the story from being amazing. I would read it again and I would recommend it to a friend.
My Thoughts:
This book provided by the author for an honest review.

A Simple Touch was a very sweet story about a woman who survived a horrific ordeal to find love and happiness in a man who cherished her and loved her. I really enjoyed reading this story as Ms. Wilson has a fresh voice and was able to draw me into the story very easily through the characters alone. The story itself was direct...not a whole lot of conflict or unnecessary angst...and kept my attention from beginning to end. This story has quite a few emotional moments because of Jordan's past but Blake's steadfast love and determination overshadowed them. The seconary characters of Jordan's best friend Dacey, Blake's parents, and Serafina added a humorous and light dimension to the story. And at the end of the story, Jordan and Blake are happy and settled in their new life and Jordan's past is just a distant memory.

My only "complaint" with the story is that it lacked a proper edit. There was a moment when Jordan called Blake "Bake" and some words were either misspelled or missing. I think that with a proper edit, Ms. Wilson's A Simple Touch could be a strong competitor in the best seller indie author category. The editing issues didn't detract from the story but it definitely would have read much more fluidly in places.

Overall, A Simple Touch is definitely a story for contemporary romance lovers everywhere. It was immersive and enjoyable.

I liked the book up to one point, but then I realised the story was getting better and better and I ended up loving it!!!

Jordan..What can anyone say about that woman...Feisty.Stubborn.Sexy but Cute.Loyal.Kind.
I honestly loved everything about her!!especially the fact that you never know what she's going to do or say...She went through so many tragedies and she pulled through on her own, with her best friend right next to her..The unimaginable happened to her,but she twisted that pain into helping others..She made it her mission to help other women,as her friend did with her.She always had her to count on and she wanted to be that someone for others..
She is without a doubt one of the most admirable characters ever written..

Blake is persistant and so adorable that actually makes it unfair for everyone else..He always knows the right thing to say..He always know how to best react to her fears..Basically,I just thinks he knows her..He knew her at first sight...I always love relentless pursuits but this one is special..Yes he is persistant but it's more than that..He sees her sadness and he just wants to make her happy, make her smile..He wants to be her light,as I see it...

I also liked one more thing...In the end,I kept fearing that something else was going to happen..And then, everything would be ok again...That bad thing never happened..But the intensity and the closeness I felt to Jordan and Blake was something I've never felt..I loved the fact that Natasha just let them be in the ending...
I also loved the 2 different POVs in the epilogue!!..Seeing Dacey's POV was unexpected and utterly adorable......

I loved this book!!It's not about the contradictions..And it's definitely not a simple love story with wounded people..It's about meeting the ONE PERSON who makes you free of everythiing including yourself..It's about letting your fears aside, take a leap of faith and let happiness in..

A truly amazing book....I recommend it without any hesitation.....

Meet Jordan a sassy girl that cant be touched by a male, without flipping out. Meet Blake a very rich not so stuck up guy that has a goal and it happens to be Jordan. What a fun love story this is!! Thinking her "love" life is done and over, Jordon isnt ready for her reaction to Blake. Upon meeting him she is rude and outright mean to him. It will take a stronger man to keep coming back to a girl for all intent and purposes beyond crazy. Blake sees something in Jordan and vows that he will get her for himself.
Of course I so fell in love with Blake. The way he handles Jordan is amazing, He doesn't let her run away. She gets so busy fighting her past shadows she misses the fact that she is falling for Blake. All the back peddling she continues to do, Blake just seems to stay close to her. Jordan strength is in that she has moved on from her pain to become who she is. Blake even his background doesnt define who he is. Giving Jordan the time she needs was prolly the biggest thing to help her over come her own demons.
The sex is soo shower worthy. (smiles) some had me even squirming. The first time they are together how he tells her to keep her eyes on him. He chased her shadows away. Opening her future and helping with her past, with patience and showing Jordon she isn't just a booty call.
I really loved all the characters in this book. His parents, Dacy her BFF. This is one of a very few that made me cry happy tears. A job well done to the author.

Jordan had some issues brought on by a previous tragedy that she worked around by avoiding touches by certain individuals. But when she found the right person she tried everything she could to make it not happen. But his simple touch was all it took. This is a quick and easy flowing read. Jordan and Blake will warm your heart and Dacey is just a wild child. Can't wait to see what trouble she gets into next.

A SIMPLE TOUCH had me enraptured with Jordan and Blake’s obsessive love. I loved the feel of the story – the gotta have you, crazy alpha love.

Jordan has suffered through a lot in her life and as a physical abuse survivor, she is terrified of any male contact. She has filled her life with work and school; constantly motivated by a need to keep moving, keep distracting herself. But when she meets Blake Barnes, he doesn’t know how to take no for an answer and is determined to get to know Jordan any way he can.

I’m not going to lie, I was kind of surprised Jordan liked Blake as much and as quickly as she did given her history with violence and Blake's knack for turning red or going all crazy at the littlest things people did to Jordan. But since I don't have that history I thought it was a HUGE turn on. He was so protective of her, hovering and controlling over anything that could scare, hurt, or bother her in any way. He was loving, doting, and a touch domineering. On the other hand, he was also extremely sensitive to Jordan’s aversion to male contact and almost as soon as he met her he caught on and made obvious efforts to avoid her getting intimidated or scared. I don’t know how many guys would have been so in tune to her emotional needs and I loved him for it! I would have liked to see the two take a little more time to fall in love and Blake a little more time before he professed his intentions to spend forever with Jordan, but I loved it despite the quickness of their relationship. I loved everything about sexy, smoldering Blake and wouldn’t mind borrowing him if Jordan needs a day off here and there.

A SIMPLE TOUCH was just my kind of crazy, passionate, all-consuming love story and I give it 4.5 alpha male stars. I’m beyond excited to read Dacey's story in A Simple Man next - if it's coming from this author it's guaranteed to be a steamy, whirlwind kind of read.

I gave A Simple Touch four leaves. I was thoroughly impressed with Natasha Wilson. A vague outline of the story shows that it is a typical New Adult story with the protagonist and her dark, haunting past who meets a gorgeous guy that turns her world upside down. Upon reading however, I discovered that A Simple Touch puts a unique spin on the overused story.

I actually liked Jordan, the heroine. Her past continues to haunt her nightmares and she keeps insanely busy to try to escape her past. I hurt for her, but I admired her everlasting strength. She was feisty, which was a way of putting her guard up after the last guy she was ever involved with did unspeakable things to her. But, I adored the feistiness. Blake definitely came into her life like a hurricane. He’s the guy who wouldn’t quit. He is sweet, caring, sexy-as-hell, and pretty much unreal. I loved the way he barged into Jordan’s life. Alpha male all the way. Yum. He pushed into Jordan’s life because he knew that they were meant to be, but he was careful to respect their wishes when it came to her personal issues.

I found the storyline predictable, but still enjoyable. I definitely didn’t expect how happy their ending would be though. Which they deserved. They had a few minor blips along the road but they weren’t overly dramatic. Jordan only pulled the whole “we’re better apart” act once after they got together, and it was interrupted by Blake in the middle *swoon*. I loved all Blake’s sweet lines. Overall this was a wonderful quick read. I want to give one last mention to Jordan’s best friend, Dacey. She was hysterical and the ultimate best friend. I want to see her get a happy ending as hinted in the epilogue and maybe Natasha Wilson will give her a book *wink-wink*.

This was seriously a great book! I loved all the characters, Blake and Jordan are people I would love to be friends with. I could totally relate to Jordan's clumsiness and lack of filter on her mouth and Blake is the perfect man. He has just the right amount of sweet, hot and alpha maleness. This was a short read and I'm so glad, because I couldn't put it down after I started it. At least I won't be up all night finishing it. I hope we get to read about Dacy in the next book because can't wait to read more about her.

What a strangely compelling story. I am actually surprised I liked this as much as I did considering it is pretty much a straight A to Z read. Any and all problems were fixed with a minimum of fuss and stress and everything wound it's way nicely to the expected conclusion. But on the way the story and romance does what it is supposed to do I guess and makes you feel good.
