Blane Kirk is a Navy SEAL turned high-powered attorney with old money and an even older pedigree. Yes, he plays the field, changing women as often as he changes his ties, but they’re not complaining. He has only two rules – 1) Don’t date employees and 2) Don’t get emotionally involved. Those rules have served him well. He sees no reason to change his ways, until his Runner, an employee in his law firm named Kathleen Turner, does an unexpected face plant in his lap.
Kathleen’s too young, too innocent, and suddenly much too vulnerable when her friend is murdered and Blane knows she could be next. Keeping her alive means keeping her close, but can Blane keep her safe...from him? Kathleen’s like no woman he’s ever met, and protecting her could be the one thing he never expected that would make his life turn on a dime.
TURN ON A DIME – BLANE’S TURN is a companion novel to NO TURNING BACK, Book One in The Kathleen Turner Series.
This novella was mainly told in Blane's POV with alternating chapters on the events of No Turning Back and Blane and Kade getting to know each other 17 years earlier. While I enjoyed getting a peek into Blane's thoughts and motives from the first book, I'm not a huge fan of rehashing the same shit with a differing POV. But what I LOVED were the chapters of Blane and Kade. Ms. Snow also gave us a few snippets of Kade's POV during these moments as the brothers get to know each other, trust each other and ultimately love each other.
"You're my brother. We stick together. No matter what."
It was heartwarming and heartbreaking to see these two, one a 10 year old and the other just an adult at 18, forge a relationship mired in guilt, regrets, distrust, pain and anger. The bond Blane and Kade have is truly special and it has me all that more intrigued as to how this series will unfold because I don't want anything to sever that bond, not even Kathleen.
You need to read No Turning Back before you read Turn on a Dime which is the companion to No Turning Back in Blane’s POV. Otherwise, you will not understand a lot of what is going on. Can I just say (and I know I have said this a hundred times) but this is my favorite adult fiction series and I read a lot. I love these characters. I love the story, I love the drama that comes with this love story. LOVE IT.
I started reading this and another series last summer when I went away with my husband on a business trip only to be stuck in the hotel room with weather storms while he was in meetings. I told myself I was going to pick out books by authors I have never read. One was Tiffany Snow and I was glued to the Kathleen Turner series. I could not stop reading. I did not even notice that my husband was gone for 6 hours. The time flew This book. This series. I love it! The first childhood flashbacks with Blane and Kade made me cry.
I do not want to this series to ever end. If this series ever ends, I will be so sad. I can not get enough of these characters. Hands down this is my favorite adult fiction series. It has everything I love in a book. Great chemistry, great characters, great writing, with a great story.
This is Blane’s POV of the first book in the series.
Some fans of the Kathleen Turner fans are debuting whether Blane or Kade are the right choice for Kathleen. After book #3, I thought for sure I was Team Kade, but after reading this book, not sure. Blane is a wonderful brother to Kade. And I love how we learn the background of how Blane got Kade out of the orphanage and adopted him. Not only do I understand Blane more after reading Turn on a Dime, but I understand Kade even more.
Now Kathleen, I love her. She is one of my favorite heroines. She is strong, faithful and honest. Such a big heart that I am always worried she is going to be taken advantage. She is a friend for life. I love her and can understand why these two men love her.
I love reading Tiffany Snow’s blog and seeing all of us fans argue about whether we are Team Blane or Team Kade. We are passionate about this series. Not only is this my favorite adult series, I think Kathleen Turner is my favorite Adult fictional heroine. She needs someone who will love her for who she is. Blane does love her, but he has secrets. Kade…Kade is who he is. He is open. You either love me or you hate me. Well I love that man.
Loved it all. I may be biased since I love this series!!! Seriously, what am I going to do when Tiffany Snow decides she is done with this series??!!!
If you have never heard of this series or heard of it and have not yet picked it up, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. I also hope that Tiffany continues to write 50 more books in the Kathleen Turner series. I will be sad when it is over. I can not get enough of these characters. Can not wait for Kade’s POV.
The Kathleen Turner series by Tiffany Snow is by far one of my all time favorite series! It has everything I love in a book: two hot alpha males, a strong heroine, romance, and suspense! I stumbled upon the first book, No Turning Back, when I was browsing through suspense/thriller novels on Amazon and was hooked from the first meeting between Blane and Kathleen! Their initial meeting is very unique to say the least ;) It is no secret, if you have talked to me about this series, that I am very team Blane.. despite all the mistakes he has made.. I think he is the one for Kat. So when I found out Tiffany was writing the events of the first book from Blane's POV, I was so excited! And this book did not disappoint!
Turn on a Dime - Blane's Turn gives you insight into what Blane was up to when he wasn't with Kat and also helps you understand his reasoning for some of the decisions he made. He was such a mystery for me during No Turning Back and I loved seeing him struggle with his attraction and developing feelings for Kat as well as seeing the reasons he had for making decisions when it came to Kat and her safety.
Another aspect of this story that I absolutely loved was that it also had flashbacks into the past of when Blane rescued his brother Kade from the orphanage. While these flashbacks completely ripped my heart out for Kade and his childhood, it gave me a better understanding of the bond between the brothers and the events that lead them to being so close. During these flashbacks, you also get some of Kade's POV from when he was a kid.
Me During Some of the Flashbacks
Overall, I would give this companion novella 5 stars! Going into this book, I wasn't sure if everything would feel repetitive since it basically covers the events from book one again but in a different character's POV. I can honestly say that this wasn't the case for me. There is a lot we didn't learn about Blane in No Turning Back and the flashbacks about his relationship with Kade are a total treat. If you have not read this series, I strongly encourage you to give them a try. They are FABULOUS!!!!
Oh and Blane.....
Memorable Quotes *Normally Blane wasn't opposed to a beautiful woman in this position, but then again, he didn't usually have an audience. Well, there was that one time... (Blane's thought when he first met Kat)
*Kissing Kathleen was like having his first kiss all over again. Her innocence was immediately apparent, her hesitation slowly evaporating as Blane kissed her. It was like she was giving him a gift, something precious and special, and not something bestowed just for a fleeting moment of carnal pleasure.
Packs a punch with a zing! Tiffany Snow just keeps getting better and better and her Kathleen Turner Series is one of my very favorites. My only complaint is that too much time passes between each fix. By far, this is the best “triangle” romantic suspense series I’ve read to date. The writing and character development in these books is outstanding.
Turn On A Dime is a companion book to the first one in the series. It is written from older brother, Blane’s POV and it details more of the earlier history between the half-brothers, Blane and Kade. Readers may be fearful of repetition from the No Turning Back, but surprisingly, this book only accentuates and contributes additional substantive additions to the story.
Snow’s writing grabs a reader’s attention with intense action and sizzling romance from start to finish. I’m addicted to this series and can’t recommend it highly enough.
Oh, and I'm still Team Blane all the way! I just feel the love he has for Kathleen. Never to be forgotten or passed over, Kade is no second though. He'll find someone worthy of his love and loyalty who'll fit perfectly. But I think Kathleen truly belongs with Blane. I think Kade knows this in his heart as well.
This was worth getting Blane’s POV. I made some wrong assumptions about him and his motives. It also reinforced my dislike of Kathleen leading Kade on. These brothers have a special bond and I don’t like that she may come between them. I’m definitely curious to how this is all going to work out.
Blane hadn’t ever felt drawn to a woman, not like this. Appreciating the shape of a woman enough to take her on a date or two and fuck her was different. This was deeper, like something inside recognized a kindred spirit and wanted to latch on.
This novella gives us Blane's story from No Turning Back. And just as expected... it was just as addicting to read. There is nothing more fun than being in a man's head. This book is not a required read for the series, but it sure sheds a lot of light on the man that is Blane Kirk. It also offers a flashback story of Kade's presence in his life, and how and why he and Kade have become so close. There are a few short glimpses into Kade's young mind, but the majority of the book is told from Blane's POV.
And Blane realized this was Kade’s gift to him. A ten year old boy was providing absolution and forgiveness for things that never should have happened to him. He didn’t know what to say, how to react to this child, his brother. He just knew he’d do anything to protect Kade, the fierceness of his love a revelation.
And honestly, I was pretty surprised by some of the things going on behind the scenes of Kathleen's thoughts. Lots of action, and Kandi moments that really shed light on Blane's feelings... and where his head is. And the only other thing I'll say... is that I was going full blown TEAM KADE, until I read this... now I'm really torn. I so love Blane.... and Kade.... This poor girl has no chance in hell unless she decides to adopt a Beardsly twin philosophy (all the Outlander fans will know what I mean!!!!) Otherwise there is no other option... but to leave them both. EEEEEK!!! Did I say that out loud!!! Honestly she would have been better off to have not met either one.
I can't imagine where the story will lead us from Out of Turn. I will be going completely insane waiting for the next release!!!!!! Seriously... these books are completely addictive!!!! I highly recommend them!
“You know, right?” Kade said. “I mean, you know.” His ears reddened and he looked away again. “You know I love you, right.”
This was a retelling of No Turning Back from Blane's POV. So, it's the same story, but you get inside Blane's head to know what he was thinking and feeling. I would say you could skip this one because you could figure out what he felt in book one, but I would suggest reading Turn on a Dime, for the reason that, you get the back story of Kade and Blane. I think it is necessary to know all that Kade and Blane went through separately and together, in the past. Blane has a huge heart when it comes to his brother. Kade is a very strong man who has endured unthinkable things. Their love for each other is deep. Now knowing how close they are will make for interesting reading as the series progresses, especially when it comes to Kat. I wonder which one will win out... brotherly love or romantic love.
--He is blond and I LOVE blond-haired men. Plus, he has gray-green eyes and my husband has gray-green eyes! So yeah, double swoon.
--He genuinely cares for Kathleen.
--His relationship with Kade shows depth to his character, which I found very touching.
--He so supah sexy.
As much as I love Blane, I was a bit disappointed with this Blane POV view book in that it was practically a scene-for-scene re-telling of book 1. I actually enjoy re-reading favorite books, but it rubs me the wrong way when authors charge you money to do it :P (not cool, authors! Stop doing this!) There is a tiny bit of extras in here, in the form of flashbacks to Blane and Kade’s early years, but I wish there had been much more.
If you’re wondering if this 1.5 book must be read as part of the series, I’d say no, it’s very skip-able. Although I have to say, it did serve to pour fresh cement over my feet in Blane’s camp. I’ll read book 2 right away, but I don’t know, I have a feeling that no matter what happens from here on out, that cement is on its way to drying and I’m not sure I’ll be budging from where I am.
I love this series! I'm glad I read this even though I am not usually a fan of rehashing the same story in a different POV. What made this worth the read was getting Blane and Kade's back story. The book goes back as far as 17 years and you find out how Blane found Kade and saved him. I think after reading this you really have an understanding of their relationship and what they mean to each other. I definitely feel a little more love toward both Blane and Kade, I don't think I could pick between the two.
The flashback of Kade's childhood before Blane was able to save him were just heartbreaking.
Love this series and this book was a great addition to the story. I especially enjoyed the back story of Blane and Kade's relationship. Kade just keeps getting better and better...
I was absolutely stoked when I heard about this book coming out in Blane's POV. This man... what's not to like?
Ok, so there are some things not to like about him, (one being that witch Kandi - with an I), but this book really sold me on Team Blane and what goes on in his brain.
In between the chapters, Tiffany wrote scenes from his and Kade's past. From their first meeting, to the times that Kade ran away, and ended with a scene that really really melted my heart and showed the love between two brothers. This book wasn't just about his work life and escapades with Kat. Getting into his brain and understanding his actions was something else and also filling in the bits and pieces when he wasn't always present in No Turning Back. You also see how in the dark he was with a lot of things that happened in that book.
Do I want more? Absolutely! I can't wait for Kade's POV as well as book 4 and 5. I don't see myself switching to Team Kade, but I do want to know more about that mystery man too.
I am going to lay my cards on the table from the very beginning, I'm a member of TEAM KADE.
The Kathleen Turner series has been one of my favourite series of 2013 so as soon as I knew Tiffany Snow had plans to publish a companion book to the 1st book in the series I was straight onto Amazon pre-ordering my copy. I can say I was not disappointed one little bit. I really enjoy Tiffany Snow writing style and her ability to mix romance with suspense and mystery without the story becoming totally unbelievable.
This book retells the 1st story from Blane's perspective with flashbacks to 17 years previous and the beginning of Blane's and Kade's story. Seeing the story unfold from Blane's POV added another dimension to the whole series and in some parts a whole new twist. Even though we learnt more about Blane's motivation for some of his actions during this I'm still firmly in the Kade camp.
I would fully recommend this book to anybody who has read the 1st book in the series and especially those of us who have been on tender hooks waiting for the 4th book to be released in December 2014.
I now can't wait for the next companion book in the series, which will be from Kade's perspective, which is due for release sometime in autumn 2013.
A must read for fans of this series. It gives a much greater insight into the connection between Blane and Kade, upping the stakes between the brothers for the future books. Their past is gritty, difficult and very emotional. I'm looking forward to continuing the series with a better understanding of Kade's horrific past, but also the brothers' relationship. These two don't have a typical relationship. It's bound tight through proof of loyalty under really crappy circumstances. For it to be threatened by a woman? Hmm... can't wait to see where the series goes. And honestly, at this point, I no longer know which brother I'm rooting for. I kind of like that. A lot.
Rating 3.25 stars I get it that writing a male character's POV sells books but I for one don't enjoy reading a re-hashed story just from a different perspective and that is why this one dragged for me a little bit. However, what I did like was seeing Blane and Kade finding each other when Blane rescued a 10 year old Kade from foster homes.
I had to finish this over lunch. The last 2 pages, uh...they brought tears. I've always been a firm member in the Team Blane camp and this just solidified my membership. Full review to come.
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Turn On A Dime - Blane's Turn (The Kathleen Turner Series) (Kindle Edition)
Ms. Snow just never cease to impress me, Turn On A Dime just made No Turning Back even better, if that were even possible.
If Ms. Tiffany Snow writes a few more books of this series, I still wouldn't get enough. The only way to satisfy my cravings is to never end this series of this love triangle. I love this story, the characters are so engaging including the sub characters, heck, even Tigger, the adorable cat is intriguing too! lol ^: ~
Reading this companion to No Turning Back from Blane's POV gives it a new meaning. I get to fall in love with my book boyfriend Blane all over again! Knowing his true feelings for Kathleen and what he thinks of her puts me in a better perspective of what and how he is through out the end of Turning Point. This gives a better understanding of Blane and Kade strong bond as brothers, it somehow got me emotional of what he went through as a child. The determination of Blane to erase Kade's nightmare by showing him unconditional love, providing a normal happy life for him.
Knowing Kathleen's harrowing experience from her point of view on No Turning Back, her uncertainties on Blane's feelings for her, this book puts an end to my indecisiveness which team I am...OF MY BEING irresolute, now I'm Blane team all the way! Besides, Kade's relentless pursuit of Kathleen knowing she is Blane's ( that eventually drove a big wedge between Kathleen and Blane ) begs a big question " why? "...what's his motive? thus making this whole series more intriguing!
I can hardly wait for the next book, in tenterhooks on what's in store for all three of this dynamic trio....did I say I LOVE this book?
wow wow wow!!! Tiffany Snow! what an amazing read!!
I could not be more team Kade than i am at this moment... I have to admit.. Blane, always sort of made me be a little miffed at him.. he always seemed so cold in a way. After reading this in his POV (with some of Kade's POV) I have come to understand and even luv him a little. I get him now... I have to admit that.
But.... with that said... oh ms. Snow... could you break my heart anymore with little Kade?? seriously... going through his childhood trauma.... omg... kleenax! I have said this before in my other reviews of this series... you seriously just want to hold Kade and make it all better... well after this book, you would seriously want to this even soooo much more.
The bond of Brothers that Blane and Kade have is soooo beautifully written. You just know that Blane and Kade would literally lay down their lives for one another.... and Kade repeatedly does the impossible for Blane, and Blane sometimes has no clue...
I really hope we get more of Blane's POV in the future... and plz plz plz.. Kade's too!
At first I was a little skeptical about reading the same story of No Turning Back, but I just couldn't put it down like all of Tiffany Snow's books I was pleasantly surprise. I love how she combined Blane and Kade's story and it did not get boring or monotonous.
Kade's story completely broke my heart and now more than ever believe that he deserves to be with Kathleen :), ( Team Kade all the way) . even though reading Blane's side of the story made me understand him a bit more and like him more and at the end of the book I was rooting for him a little.
To Tiffany Snow I am just so happy that I stumbled on your books while searching for something to read on my Kindel. You are a really a gifted writer and I can't wait to read Kade's side of the Story. I give this and all her book 5 Stars! :)
Turn on a Dime - Blane's Turn (Kathleen Turner #1.5) by Tiffany A. Snow was excellent! This author NEVER disappoints. This was a companion book in Blanes POV regarding book 1 (No Turning Back) However it was so much more than that, it also took us on a journey back in time when Blane finds Kade and takes him in. It helps us to better understand the dynamics of their relationship. By doing this she was able to keep it fresh & new and it was brilliant. The author moved quickly through the familiar story of book 1 & I was glad it was paced the way it was. She never lingered too long so I never got the feeling like I was reading the same story over. Seeing things through Blane’s eyes added a whole new facet to the story. Everyone knows I am a HUGE fan of this series so maybe me saying this is another 5 star addition to the series might sound a bit biased coming from me but I like to think I would be honest enough with myself to say it sucked if it did. The way Tiffany A. Snow is able to combine romance, suspense & mystery and make it so damn sexy all at once has me in awe! I love her writing style, it just flows so easily. So all I can say is to read book 1 and decide for yourself! I would read these books in the order they were released (so I wouldn’t read this book which is 1.5 right after finishing book 1) I would suggest you read it after Turning Point (Kathleen Turner #3). This way you fully comprehend the relationship between Blane & Kade and how this story will have a huge impact on them when it’s all said & done. Also, why it’s impossible for me to choose between them much less for Kathleen to have to choose! To be quite honest I don’t think I ever will. I have to leave that in the very capable hands of Tiffany A. Snow. I am waiting ever so patiently to see a book from Kades’ POV because I am sure that will be one hell of a ride! Once a start any book in this series I am completely sucked in and I cannot put it down till I am done! Yes 5 Stars for me
This is my Blane This is as close to my Kade as I can find for now
I’m not even sure what this book is supposed to be about. Is it about Blane finding his brother, every other chapter goes 17 years into the past? Is it about Blane lusting after a girl 24 when he’s around 37, and he tells himself over and over again that this can’t work, leave her alone? Is it about Blane being the lawyer for mobsters? Is it about Blane’s now grown brother breaking into someone’s house/office with Blane’s blessing and his warning not to get caught? Is it about Blane getting involved in the murder of Kathleen’s neighbor, and his sudden need to protect her, while continuing to lust after her? This book is all over the place. At one point I read the part 3 times of where Blane’s client held a knife to Kathleen’s throat then suddenly the client was on the floor with the knife in his side. Who did it? WTH happened? I still don’t know. Maybe one of you readers can tell me what happened.
At 40% I give up. This is book 6 in the series and I just looked at what book 1 said and I’m totally confused because Blane and Kathleen met in book 1 for the first time then they met in book 6 for the first time. AND the first 5 books are written in the first person and 6 and 7 are in the third person. This whole series is beyond me. Then in book 7’s description it sounds like Kade falls in love with Kathleen, Blane’s girlfriend. That’s just too much. I hate a love triangle. Readers said it was a stand alone book but I find that hard to believe. And that it was a "companion" to book one, told in Blane's point of view. Really? In Kathleen's POV it's told in the first person but in Blane's it's in the third person? I tried to read Ms. Snow’s book Blank Slate and ended up stopping because it too boring. But I decided to give her another chance with this one. But, no. I’m done with her. Sorry.
There was some sexual tension on Blane’s part but no sex up to 40%.
And for those of you who don’t like swearing, the F-BOMB was used 67 times. I don’t mind that word but I know a lot of you do. You’ve been warned.
So a definite BIG mixed review on this one. And I hate to say it, because I so looked forward to more of my favorite trio, even if it was a familiar story.....
I have to say that as far as the POV retelling of this story, it was worth only about 2 stars. The dialogue was redundant and Blane's perspective added very little usually. He didn't strike me as much of a mystery in the first book so to hear what he was thinking spelled out it left me a little like "so what?"..... That said, there were a few scenes in the final chapter that I would have loved to hear from his perspective, and I believe could have been used to add quite a bit to the series, and they practically fizzled and were skimmed over. Very disappointing.
HOWEVER! I give a giant 5 stars to the flashback scenes at the end of each chapter with Blane and Kade's relationship and how they began!!!! This should have been its own 0.5 novella that would have knocked it out of the park. I looked forward to the end of every chapter knowing I could get back to that story. What a fabulous story. This was what really drove this book and it was disappointing that there wasn't more of it. I'm hoping we get to return to this when Kade gets his turn.
So splitting the difference, this is a 3.5 read at best if you are willing to wade through the redundancy to get to the good stuff!
This is how an alternative POV version of a previous book should be done: with plenty of new material and not an exact "copy and paste" rehash of the same story that feels old very quickly.
This book is split 50/50 between accounts of past and present. The parts about the past tell us how Blane rescued his younger brother Kade from the foster care system when they were 18 and 10 respectively, and how the brothers got to know and trust each other, and all that was new information. The parts about the present, 17 years afterwards, are the male POV of No Turning Back, but still are quite interesting as they offer insights of how Blane was feeling and what he was dealing with that were not so obvious from the previous book. I am still team Blane, but knowing more about Kade, at least from his troubled childhood, is making him a very compelling character too.
Very enjoyable, and it has cemented my decision to continue with the whole series in one go. Much better than many other male POV books out there and it has maintained my interest until the end.
Popsugar Reading Challenge 2018 # 19. A book set on, or about Halloween
*Note- please read book one, No Turning Back before you read this. This is a companion book to the Kathleen Turner series. This entire series is amazing and one of the most entertaining out there. It has suspense, angst, betrayal, trust, friendship, love and so much more. I cannot put them down. Turn on a Dime- Blane's turn was no disappointment. I couldn't put it down!!!! Turn on a Dime- Blane focuses on book one (No Turning Back) and well as diving into the past of Blane. I loved learning about young Blane, some of his struggles and where his guilt and protectiveness comes from. This allowed me to appreciate some of his reactions and behaviors so much more. You wanted to know where he went when he left Kathleen and this is telling you why. This book did recap some of the main scenes from No turning Back but the insight added so much to the already read scenes. I felt that this information was a true plus. Sometimes these companion novels basically tell the entire book in another POV and give nothing extra. This was so much more and it was AWESOME!!!! I loved it and I'm selfish and just keep on wanting. I want, no need the next companion book to come out as well as book four. Talk about an ending to book three... Holy crap I need it NOW!!!!
I couldn't wait for this book to come out, especially after the dreadful news that book 4 will not be out until December. Ms. Snow as always didn't disappoint. Easily becoming one of my favorite series in modern day literature, this book was an excellent addition to an already fabulous story.
This is Blane's side of things, all stemming from book 1. It was great in the sense the gaps were bridged. The reader finally got to know what Blane was thinking. I also know, for me at least, it cleared a few things up. Things that I had been picturing a different way.
Even though I knew the story, it felt like a whole new adventure. Ms. Snow didn't miss a beat, ensuring that she was faithful to the original story and the scenes replayed matched, with the new additions contributing to the action. It was a read that at the end had me disappointed it was over. Mind you, I'm not normally one for companion novels.
More than anything however, this book accomplished one major thing. I have finally chosen a side in the Team Blane/Team Kade debate. Now, knowing Ms. Snow's work, no doubt I'll rescind that statement when Kade's companion novel appears, but for the time being, I believe I am firm on my decision.....Team Blane!
I've always been team Kade.....but Blane won me over in this installment. This is not a standalone novel - you need to read the others to understand what's happening. Blane's POV really fills in the gaps and also gives us a glimpse into Kade's thoughts as a bonus. Tiffany Snow did a fantastic job here.
I hate when this happens. Same thing with Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire (whom I LOVE). I decide to reread a series. Some inbetweens have come out since the last time I read them. I read every sequentially according to series order.
Really enjoyed listening to Blane's Turn, a retelling of No Turning Back (first book in the series) but from Blane's POV. The story didn't feel repetitive at all, and loved all the background information included on Blane and Kade and how the brothers relationship developed.
I didn't mind the narrators performance when he was telling the story, but the differing voices for Blane, Kade and Kathleen I felt didn't match their characters at all. For example, Blane sounded more like an old man at times rather than the imposing, very attractive man he is supposed to be. I almost switched back to reading the ebook, but I adjusted more to the characters voices throughout the performance.
