As the summary states, the story features an obsessive poor boy x wealthy soft girl, which is a pretty accurate description of the main couple. The reason for my low rating is that I wasn't a huge fan of their dynamic, especially on the ML's part.
The story starts out as they're in their final year of high school, and I personally found the ML overly aggressive in his pursuit of the FL. He's constantly touching her when they don't even know each other that well, there are countless mentions of his dark desires towards her and how he has to reign himself in to not scare her, and at one point he even tries to kiss her on the lips in the classroom with other classmates around (thank god the FL had quick reflexes and put a sheet of paper up in front of her mouth so that it wasn't full lip on lip contact). It was honestly too much for the high school setting, especially because the FL is super sheltered and innocent. It felt like you're watching a wolf taking advantage of naive little bunny. Some people may find this dynamic cute, but I didn't.
I was also extremely frustrated by the misunderstanding at the beginning. The FL wants to figure out who Chen Yang is, since she knows that's the student her father is sponsoring, but she refuses to believe that the ML is Chen Yang, even when he tells her. This misunderstanding drags out for longer than it needs to, until finally the ML shows her his student ID and she has no choice but to believe him.
I didn't enjoy the first half of the story when he's chasing her and considered dropping the story multiple times. There were multiple things that added to my frustration, plus I found the pacing super slow. I also thought the romance was insta-love on the ML's part and didn't like that, but you do find out later that's not the case and he does recognize her from his past. After they get together, their interactions were pretty sweet, so I decided to keep on reading.
The separation during college made sense, as it let them each establish themselves more independently and allowed the ML time to build up his company. Sure, the author glossed over all the difficulties of a long distance relationship, especially when both parties are college students in a setting where they're constantly surrounded by suitors, but I'm willing to turn a blind eye to that as I really enjoyed the last part of the story when they finally reunite. Plus here there's some light face slapping involving the FL's workplace which I appreciated as well.
Overall this was an okay romance but I wouldn't revisit as the first half was hard for me to get through.
