To become a Convergent, a person undergoes a gradual chemical process that takes weeks. By the end, you are stripped of everything that makes you human and flawed and are endowed with superhuman cognitive powers. You reach such an advanced state of hyper-connectivity that you become one with the universe. The catch is all traces of your former self are gone. You don't even understand what a "self" is.

I really wasn't a fan of the first chapter of this book. I was surprised because I love this genre, I just felt like the whole chapter was way to jumbled nothing was really focused on and fleshed out enough to really know what is going on. I realize it's just the first chapter so just waiting to see where the second chapter takes the story.

This first chapter really has hooked me, and I'm interested in where the book will go. There was so much that happened just in this first little bit. I loved the fresh ideas and intriguing plot-line. Can't wait to read the rest.
