Knots #3

Cuffed

Rate this book
Charlie has been without a Master for a few months and has spent that time settling into a life that doesn’t depend on someone else. He still aches to submit, except after all this time, it’s no longer a “have to” thing, but a “want to” thing. Well, until he walks into the tattoo shop Irons, and decides that the artist there belongs in the “bend me over and do evil things to me” column.

Troy’s wolf is vibrating beneath his skin, growling, clawing, and snarling to get closer to sweet Charlie. He’d always seen the human man with his Master at the local mostly-werewolf BDSM club, Knots, and the sight excited him like nothing else. But it isn’t until the man walks into his tattoo shop without a collar that he realizes why his beast howls when he catches sight of Charlie. The gentle, submissive human is his mate. After inking him, Troy is dying to make sure his man is cuffed and claimed.

Please leave comments on my 4 sweet pea review of Cuffed at http://mrsconditreadsbooks.com/index....

The Dominant’s gaze drifted over the table, over the bundles of rope, safety scissors and other restraints.

If I thought the possessive streak in Knotted (book 2 of the In Knots series) was prominent in that story, it had nothing on the use of it in Cuffed. And everytime the word is said by the Dom, it causes the sub’s cock to get hard. Every time.

Instead of focusing on the Dom’s search for his mate, which we found in Knotted, this is a submissive’s search for his mate. Charlie is a bit of a pain slut and we first meet him in the Knotted BDSM club being whipped by the man who is his contracted partner. Charlie is human but this club is populated by both shifters and humans. The shifters know which is which, primarily by scent, but also by just knowing who is “family” in the sense of belonging to the pack. The humans have to guess unless they are told who is a shifter.

Charlie wants a tattoo of a koi on his side. It is his first tattoo and he’s both nervous and excited. He has saved his money for it and goes to a shop that has been highly recommended. What he doesn’t know is the shop is owned by a Dom he admires from the club and when he finds out his excitement and arousal are heightened. He and the tattoo artist/shop owner/Dominant end the first tattoo session with a sexual encounter that Master Troy intends to relax Charlie but which scares Charlie into running away. That tattoo leads me to one small complaint, which normally is outside of the author’s control but in this case the author is credited as the cover artist so I don’t understand why this happened. The koi tattoo is very prominent in the plot, but there is no tattoo on the cover model. I really wanted to see it.

This is a good short story. While at 84 pages it exceeds what I normally consider a short story, it’s still more brief than a novella. Cuffed was my favorite of the three stories in the Knots series. It can be read stand-alone or in sequence with equal enjoyment.

I really enjoyed reading Cuffed easily immersing myself in the pages and sharing the emotions of the characters. Cuffed is well written and one I would recommend for readers of these genres.

Troy James owns Irons a well known tattoo shop and he is one of the best tattooists in the business, he is also Master Troy from Knots. Troy loves to see his designs come to life on someone else's skin and when his assistant Ronnie disturbs his drawing to bring him a sketch someone wants tattooed he is more than annoyed, that is until he catches a scent and instantly releases a growl accompanied with only one thought 'mate'.

Charlie could do pain! Good pain, Bad pain or something that was a little in between. As a sub in the werewolf-owned club Knots he found pleasure in the submission and pain but Charlie was well aware that with the good masters came the bad and unfortunately he'd had one of the bad ones until six months ago.

Charlie is beginning to think coming to get a tattoo and specifically asking for Troy maybe wasn't such a good idea. When Troy comes face to face with him in the waiting room he realised who he is and the need in both of them rushed to the surface but Charlie quickly pushes it away as his fear takes control. All Troy needs is for Charlie to stay and give him a chance, he knows he must take it slow as Charlie is human and he is also aware he will only get one shot because his wolf is close to the surface and is itching to claim what is his!

This review will be for the entire series...

Hmmm ... this needs serious editing ... basic grammar has been missed on this one ... then there is the incorrect or inappropriate use of words ... it's all very well to use a thesaurus, but if you don't actually know what the word means, you'll look like an idiot when you use a word in the wrong context ... for example, in Cuffed, the sub draped himself face-down over a spanking bench ... instead of saying that, Kyle said the sub draped supine over the spanking bench ... although it sounds more grown-up, it is actually wrong because supine means face-up which was the opposite of what the author actually wanted to say ... then we had the various correctly spelled words in the wrong context, like hold instead of hole etc. ... BUT ... the biggest faux pas was the instances where more than one character's dialogue was in the same paragraph ... just sloppy IMO ... IF you can ignore all of the above, you'll then be gifted with 3 short stories that have weak plots with every shifter cliché tossed into the mix ... there are much better books out there IMO.

My favorite from the series so far. .. however I do have one issue. How did troy not know Charlie ( didn't like that name for him either. ..he didn't seem like a Charlie) was his mate this whole time? ! He had seen him multiple times even been introduced to him but didn't know that was his mate till he smelled a piece of paper he had written on? But in book two Sawyer smells Bern ( how do you say that name? cuz If you say it phonetically it sucks. . ) from across the club without ever seeing him but Troy didn't know the guy when we was introduced to him or saw him multiple times in the club. ..oookkkaaaay. That was the only real issue I had with this book. That bit felt inconsistent.

gotta say, there series is improving. After reading the first in the series, I would have tossed it all. But I was camping, and with no book store in site, and no Wi-fi to visit amazon, I trudged on.
Book 2 was better, but still no connection to the characters. This one, is a vast improvement from the others. I actually liked the characters. If there is ever a book four, I'll give it a shot.

LOVED this book. This book took the time to flesh out the characters more. Got to get some of Charlie's history, One of the things I liked most was how Troy was willing to wait for Charlie, and walk away if that was what his mate wanted, in spite of his wolf snarling to claim him. Unlike the other Kyle novellas, I think this one ended at a good place, either to be continued in a new story, or as a standlalone.

Cuffed is the third part of the Knots series by Celia Kyle. Charlie was a human submissive that was released by his human master, but they played in a were club. Even though he tries to say he is alright being free, you can tell by the story that he is a true submissive a needs a master. Troy is a true alpha master and his portrayal as such, in addition to being a caring mate was enjoyable.

Good short, but I had problem with the premise. I hate stories where one partner holds all the secrets and only reveals them when THEY think the time is right. Especially when that partner is the man.

Yummy

Celia Kyle really knows how to write a good down and dirty M/M story. 3rd book in the series and it just keeps getting better and better. Knots sounds like a really great place to go for a good time. Thank you Celia!
