I live in Cornwall in the UK, love young adult fiction, especially when magic and love are included, I day-dream excessively, live for cake, and drink tea by the bucket.
I CAN'T STOP CRYING...this novella has broken my heart and I need to be resurrected.
Before I try to write my review, I wish to thank Amanda Day for emailing me and asking me if I would love to read this story she wrote about love and heartbreak. Amanda is amazing and she used to play in my group's Scavenger Hunt Challenge and I hadn't heard from her in a while, so I was so excited to hear that she had written this AMAZING and GUT WRENCHING novella and I would be thrilled to bits to read it. Little did I know how much this story would touch me so deeply and affect me completely.
Diary of a Resurrection is a story about Mina and Drew. How they met, how they fell in love and how they achingly fell apart. The moment you begin reading this novella, you are sucked in instantly and completely become Mina. You are breathing and living her thoughts and feelings. Your heart beats tremendously fast, your stomach flutters as if you have a million butterflies flapping their wings against your insides and your body quivers, as you react just as Mina reacts. You feel, just as she does, you think just as she thinks and you delve deep down into the pit of despair, when her heart has been shattered into a million little pieces, with no hope of recovery, just as she does. I was angry, and sad, and hurt, and in so much pain at the suffering she endured by Drew. I can't believe he did that to her and put her through hell and back, and I can't believe she put up with it. But I completely understand the state of being she was in. I understand how it feels to be consumed with so much love that you begin to doubt yourself, yet, you cannot believe that love would make you feel this undeserving. No, not love, but Drew. I can't believe he would be so cowardly and heartless. That he could just tear her heart out like that and think nothing of it. Yet, Mina couldn't accept that. Couldn't accept that Drew would be so cruel. That he had his reasons and all she knew was that she loved him more than anything. What's more disturbing is the fact that I can't believe how much I hurt for Drew. That when everything was all said and done, that he would finally break his silence and reveal himself to Mina. He would lay it all out on the table for her, in a means of a letter, and that just about tipped me over into the hole that I had dug with Mina. I was a goner. A totally and utterly desperate goner who was hoping against hope that things would change, knowing deep down, that Mina had gone too far to turn back around and let him enter his way back into her heart and soul. She had worked to hard to let that happen and I admire her strength and her resolve and her ability.
I'm telling you all, this may be just a novella, but it will get to you like you would not believe. The story is full of so much raw emotion that will have you captivated and awed by how simple yet poetically beautiful it is. I love this novella and I wish, and hope, that Amanda Day would write an actual novel from this story. A sequel of sorts, because I can feel that there is so much more to say, and I would devour this sucker up with so much fever and still be left wanting more. I NEED MORE
This is a Music Monday post. See music choice by checking out my blog link: here I received a copy of Diary of a Resurrection for an honest review.
Diary of a Resurrection is the story of how Mina and Drew and their tragic love story.
Mina met Drew the first time over the phone when he ordered a pizza. They talked every night and then one day he showed up and they were something else. As time goes by their relationship begins to grow, they begin to fall for each other, or so it seems. Soon the secrets around Drew’s life begin to create a rift between Drew and Mina.
Everything becomes complicated and soon Mina must decide what’s best for her and if love is worth the cost.
I really enjoyed the message Amanda Day entangled in this story. It seemed as if this story would be the typical story of true love, but it became so much more.
This is basically a condensed version of Why We Broke Up. The main character's name is "Mina" --WWBU's MC's name was Min. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how much more I liked this novella over that one. I suppose this is a inspired piece executed well. Kudos to the author.
I seriously loved this book! I think it's a story most girls can relate too. Falling hard and crashing down!
Such an easy read and one of my favourite quotes "And the worst part is that you didn’t deserve even a single tear, you asshole, but you got ten thousand." Amen!!
Mina falls hard and fast for drew but sometimes love doesn't conquer all. A great story of rebuilding yourself when a little bit of you got lost along the way
I would love to read Drew's version of this sad love story! I think every woman can relate to Mina & her fast & furious love for Drew.....at least she got a letter explaining Drew's actions, most of us sufferred in silence!
