Remarkable Leadership is a practical handbook written for anyone who wants to hone the skills they need to become an outstanding leader. In this groundbreaking book, Kevin Eikenberry outlines a framework and a mechanism for both learning new things and applying current knowledge in a thoughtful and practical way. Eikenberry provides a guide through the most important leadership competencies, offers a proven method for learning leadership skills, and shows approaches for applying these skills in today’s multitasking and overloaded world of work. The book explores real-world concerns such as focus, limited time, incremental improvement, and how we learn.
I was not in love with this text. It provides many basic and good steps to enhancing natural leadership ability. However, I found the constant editing errors and the author's self-contradictions to be annoying.
There are better leadership books that are more worth your time and money. The top recommendation would be "Spiritual Leadership" by Henry Blackaby and Richard Blackaby. "The Leadership Challenge" by James Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner is a close second.
I really enjoyed this book. Remarkable Leadership is well written and organized. It contains a great deal of information that while advanced is simply presented with many opportunities to readily apply what you have learned. Even with my many years of successfully managing people and having designed a new manager training I found a few useful nuggets of information to help me grow.
This book started very well, but the lessons in it seem to have already been covered in other leadership texts and for me, were not presented in a new or original way such that I could get something out of it (or at least something worth the time and energy).
Filled with, and brimming over with "bonus bytes" that are captivating in capturing important information for anyone interested in "learning" to be remarkable. Congratulations Kevin on your steadfast desire, and endeavor to "unleash your leadership potential one skill at a time."
