On the run from her violent ex-husband, Cassie Reeves will do anything to keep her son safe, even if it means turning to a man she betrayed a decade ago. John Tyler now hates her as much as he once loved her--but Cassie has no choice.

John's quiet life as a small town doctor in Seaclusion, Washington has no place in it for the woman he turned his back on ten years ago. But when Cassie and her son land on his doorstep, he can't turn them away. The longer she stays, though, the harder it is to remember why he stopped loving her.

With her ex-husband closing in, Cassie soon realizes that only she can end what he has started. And as John and Cassie's mutual attraction reignites, she vows to do anything to protect her son and grab the happiness that has escaped her for so long.

Raw. Real. Emotional Romance. Writing provocative and darker themed romance that always finds its happily ever after!

With 50 plus, full length books there is a story for everyone!
Cowboy romance? Got it! Small town... yep. Big city rock star? Covered! You like a little suspense? Yep, got a few of those too.

Most of my books are standalone stories in connected series. Whether it's the setting, theme or family connections, my series are often multi-generational and span decades. While each book is a complete story, beloved characters will pop in and out of these sagas. I stick to new adult, contemporary and western romances, with tons of emotion and all the feels tucked into them.

I live in the rainy area of Western Washington, and spend as much time as I can traveling to destinations all across the state, where I do all things outdoors.
Many of these locations become the settings for my books.
I earned my business degree from Western Washington University, and worked for several years in the construction management field before turning to writing full time.

Realistic portrayal of how sins of the past, whether our own or are parents, effect present day relationships. The emotions, the words said in anger, the holding on to something that happened 10 years ago. I felt like I was reading scenes out of real life not the make believe fairytale of a romance we normally read.
Cassie Reeves had a horrible childhood. No nurturing was given to her by her mother. She did her best to protect her younger sister from that the trash her mother would bring in but wasn’t always successful. She had no self esteem and drowned herself in boos and men for years. Ten years ago she got involved with boy who was 5 years younger than her, not only was it in her eyes taboo due to their ages but when she ended up in a situation her way of handling it left him angry and unable to ever forgive her.

Four years later she finds a man who cleans her up and gets her pregnant right away. She thought he was her savior but after having her son she finds out he is a possessive monster. Six year later she goes on the run after he is released from prison knowing he will come back and finish what he started. She calls upon an old friend and ends up in a small town in Washington called Seaclusion.

Cassie had no idea that when her old friend got her a job at the Dr office that one of the Dr’s would be none other than the 18 year old boy she had betrayed all those years ago.

John Tyler hates Cassie and he doesn’t hold back in his words or feelings toward her. Many of the conversations between John and Cassie were so realistic from the hurt and shaming words we’ve all thrown at someone that has hurt us deeply. The romance in this book isn’t traditional. It’s realistic. Cassie had a self-destruct personality and John always went the way of least resistance. The harm that these two caused each other due to this was heartbreaking to read.

I love finding new authors that bring a fresh and different voice. This is going to be a 4 book series. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Found this book absolutely griping, and what an absolute bargain as it was free on Amazon. Cassie -a previous party animal has become trapped in a violent marriage and has a young son, desperate to escape she goes to get help from friend only to bump into her ex from 10 years ago. The story focuses on cassies quest to save herself and her son from her now ex husband, but add into the equation unfinished business with John.
I thought this was superbly written, you could feel cassies emotions so strongly I had tears in my eyes. So full of angst love and friendship this book is well worth a read, looking forward to more from Leanne Davis.

SHADES OF SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY WITH A FEW TWIST. I WAS REALLY BOTHERED BY THE SITUATION BETWEEN JOHN & CASSIE THEY HAD SO MUCH ANAMOSITY TOWARD EACH OTHER. IT GOT ON MY NERVES WENT ON TOO LONG AND THAT GIRLFRIEND WAS HORRIBLE, WHAT A SNOBBY LITTLE WITCH. THE DIALOG WAS A LITTLE STIFF AND THEIR EMOTIONS SEEMED A BIT FORCED AND EXAGGERATED. THEY GO ROUND AND ROUND ABOUT THE SAME THING IT GETS TIRESOME AFTER A FEW DOZEN TIMES. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD BOOK HAD IT NOT BEEN SO REPETATIVE, I FELT LIKE I GOT STUCK ON THE SAME PAGE READING THE SAME SCENE OVER & OVER. ;[

This was a great story that really read true-to-life – a woman attempts to stay one step ahead of the psychotic ex that is stalking her and her son. There were moments where I was holding my breath, wondering if the ex was going to appear around the corner or pop up from behind a chair.

Cassie came off particularly well. She could have been written as a weak, whiny woman who needed a man to save her at every turn. She accepted help at times – taking a job from one old friend, accepting a place to live from another – but when it came down to it, she handled things on her own. Her son was her driving factor and she did everything she did with him in mind. To this end, she was braver than most heroines.

I liked that John had issues concerning his past with Cassie. He would not have been a good main character if he had immediately forgiven her for having an abortion without telling him all those years ago. At the same time, he was protective of her which gave the story some meat.

This story took me all over the place. There was, of course, romance but there was also suspense and a bit of action and some humor. I was even disgusted at some points. And I was heavily turned on by the hot sex between Cassie and John.

I was excited when I read that this was book one in a series. I see that Luke and Kelly’s story has been released (Notorious) and I’m looking forward to reading it. I just knew they’d get together, or at least I was hoping they would.

This book falls into a few categories: suspense, romance, contemporary, although it's not a typical romance book by any means.

The emotional journey taken by the the main characters in this book is a roller coaster ride from the moment Cassie steps back into John's life. The themes are hard hitting and the character, Cassie, is a flawed individual struggling to make sense of past issues while dealing with the threat of a seriously deranged ex-husband.

The author, Leanne Davis, sustains the tension throughout the book and had me constantly turning the pages to see what happened next. Sometimes it wasn't pretty and a few characters are put through the wringer but the story is interesting and edgy. I'm definitely checking out the author's next book.

Recommended read. Five stars.

Ugh. Seriously? Could have been good. I appreciated their constant fighting. Most romance authors don't have realistic tension... However, the woman in this is always wrong. Even when she's justified, she's wrong. She's not allowed to be right through the entire book and then suddenly when she is allowed to be right, she shouldn't be. And him? I had no thoughts until the very end when I realized he's just weak. So, yeah, no. Had potential, but just really bad.

Not bad. Story was what you'd expect. It was not as steamy as I would've thought but got the point across. Author got a little repetitive with the Cassie and John's arguments. But I liked the premise of the story and how the stalker ex was dealt with. I want to read the next one and then I'm done.

Cassie Reynolds is on the run from her ex-husband, Marcus, with her young son, Tim. She believes she has found a safe place to hide but knows she will never truly be safe while he is out looking for her.

John Tyler had his heart broken years ago by Cassie and now she has shown up looking for a place to hide. His brother Luke offers Cassie a place to stay with them but John isn't too happy with the arrangement.

When Marcus learns of a secret link will Cassie and Tim be safe and will Cassie risk the danger she has put everyone else in? Will John be able to put the past behind him and keep Cassie and Tim safe?

This was a good book and I enjoyed it.

I felt bad for Cassie with having to run from her ex as she needed to keep herself and Tim safe as she knew what he was capable of. I was very surprised when I learned about her past and everything that happened with her and John. I was definitely not expecting some of the things but I liked that she managed to get herself cleaned up when she found out she was pregnant with Tim.

I completely understood why John was so mad over the past and I wondered how long his resentment towards her would last. Initially I wasn't sure what had happened that made him mad but soon I understood. His relationship with Sarah was interesting as she made comments to Cassie that were hurtful when she had no clue about what happened in the past.

I really liked Luke and everything he did to make sure Tim and Cassie felt safe and then Cassie's sister Kelly when she stayed with them. I hope we get a book with Luke soon!

There were definitely some twists that I was not expecting, especially the one that gave Marcus a clue to where they could be. Marcus was evil and he was definitely smart in what he planned out and how everything turned out.

I was worried towards the end with a development involving Sarah!

The very end was good and I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

Poison

Cassie's ex-husband gets out of jail, and begins stalking her and her young son Tim. He tries to take Tim from school, so Cassie decides she needs to leave town (not a moment too soon). She gets a job and surprise, she has a past with one of the bosses, John. John's brother comes to the office and recognizes Cassie, finds out the situation, and invites Cassie and Tim to move in his house with him and John. John is not happy, but goes along with it so they will be safe, although he makes it hard for Cassie the whole time as he can not forgive or forget the past. Marcus comes to town and attacks her sister and Cassie realizes only she can end this so that she and Tim feel safe. Lots of great moments with John as well...can he forget and forgive the past so they can move on? You need to read to find out! Great characters, angst, realistic, and I look forward to the next book in the series! This was my first of what I believe will be many reads by this author!

This is not my normal go to book but it caught my attention because the MC is on the run from her crazy ex-husband. She decides to hide out in a town and offered a job from an old family friend of her mom's and winds up working in the same office as her ex - boyfriend from 10 years ago. The main problem is he hates her guts because of a choice she made that she did not include him in. He lets her know his feelings every chance he gets. his brother lets her and her son move in with them and that's when things start to heat up..physically, emotionally, sexually...

Neither of the MC impressed me much. They spent most of the book arguing and having hurt feelings. Neither one of them could get their heads out of their asses for just a moment to see things from each other's perspectives. It was a bit too much romantic drama for me in all honestly, The steamy romance part was lack luster and a bit boring. I've seen the squirrels in my back yard have a spicier time. I will probably read the next in the series just to see if the writing gets any better.

I have loved previous books by this author, but this one I didn’t really get on with...
We have Cassie who is in hiding from her ex who by all accounts is not a nice guy. She has Tim who she’s protecting, her son, and decides to flee. Cassie and Tim arrive in Seaclusion, and it’s here we meet John, Luke and Harry. Harry is Cassies friend who has guaranteed her a job, John is someone Cassie used to know and date. Luke is Cassies age and they turn into great friends.
My problem is the animosity John still harbours towards Cassie, and his behaviour. Yes he helps Cassie because of Tim, but I didn’t particularly like John.. I favoured Luke!
I think I mostly skipped lines in the book to read what happens when the ex finds Cassie, and that part I enjoyed... especially that it’s Cassie who stops him. Which of course is another of Johns hangups... If you like Leanne Davis’ work, you may like this, you wouldn’t know until you read it.... :)

I received a free ARC from Hidden Gems for the promise of an honest review.

It was okay. I expected a little more. Cassie is on the run from an abusive ex-husband, Marcus. She runs to one of her mom's old boyfriends, Harry, who treated her with respect. It turns out that Harry works with Cassie ex-boyfriend, John, from her early twenties. John and Cassie dated for a fee months when John was 18 and Cassie was 23. Things didn't end well and now there is animosity between them. John is reluctant but Cassir has a 6 year old son that also needs help from his abusive dad.

Since it hinted that Marcus is stalking Cassie, I expected a little more drama. Yes, it took a while for him to find Cassie but he left 2 notes for Cassie to meet him. I expected him to play a "cat and mouse" game. Like Cassie is always looking over her shoulder because she doesn't know what to expect.

The book is fine the way it is written. I just expected something a little more suspenseful.

Poison is a book about starting over and second chances. Cassie is running from a bad home situation and she ends up living in a small town working for her ex boyfriend John. We soon learn there's some animosity between them due to events of the past. John and his brother Luke take care of Cassie while the danger pass.

Even though the situations surrounding the stories were hard and tried to keep you hooked to the book, I didn't quite connect with it. It didn't feel like Cassie and John were in love, one moment they were thinking about each other and the next they couldn't stand each other. I also didn't like the descriptions for our lovers. It made Cassie look weak, a party girl with no morals and John a cold hearted guy.

I'm still debating if I'll read the next books.

When Cassie found out that her ex husband has been released from prison there's only one thing she can do. Run! Fearing for her and her son's life she disappeared leaving everything behind to start a new life.
John was furious when he realized who his new receptionist was. The same woman he loved ten years ago who had betrayed him and shattered his heart.
Luke thought it was safer for Cassie and Tim to move in with him and John.
There was so much animosity between Luke and Cassie due to their past relationship. John needed to grow up.
Evil is lurking in the shadows waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.

I give this five stars because it's well written and intriguing. Because I love the ending and how their story works out. I don't five it five stars for how much I liked it because the first half I hated. Nothing really wrong it just seemed to drag. I read for an hour and was shocked when I saw I was only on page 27. I actually even switched to a different book a little later, needing a break. But I came back and pushed myself to finish it. The list hundred pages I was drawn in and didn't want to put it down. But it is a long complicated story- all the hatred in the beginning is needed for this story- that you just have to get through to reach the great end.

*I am leaving an honest and voluntary review after receiving this book as an arc.

SPEECHLESS!! POISON by Leanne Davis was such a Rollercoaster ride of TWISTS AND TURNS and never a Dull moment page after page. It does have some emotional and physical domestic abuse that is not for the weak of hearts. But is So Beautifully Written and will have you intrigued from the Very Beginning of the Book. It has Suspenseful moments, Contemporary Romance and Heartwreching Aches and pains that will Leave you wanting more.
It was such an emotional journey for me that had me laughing out loud and then a crying mess. I CANNOT WAIT TO read more from this Author and definitely enjoyed this Suspenseful thriller of Epic proportions!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book has so much angst and twists you never see coming. Two former lovers who are forced to be around each other due to unfortunate circumstances. There is so much animosity between these two, but it all stems from their past relationship. it's been years since they've seen each other, and things ended really bad between them. John hates Cassie for what she did to him, but he's still willing to help protect her and her son from her psycho ex husband. Feelings change between these two, you know what they say,,, it's a thin line between Love and hate!

Runny away from trouble is bad enough but doing that with a child is even worse. She needed a fresh start and somewhere no one would think to look for her. She thought her was going to be one bad thing after another then she headed back to someone she knew and the story really spreads out and you wont want to put the book down, because you will have to find out how things were going to work out and the twists that go on will keep you going.

Anything Leanne Davis writes deserves more than 5 stars. A perfect start to a new series by this author. I never regret reading her books and I always spend the whole night reading her books because I refuse to put it down. Cassie is very strong and brave and it was a great twist to see a role revise as John was the quiet, loving kind. I was like "yes women rule", while reading this book. Great book and definitely recommended.

These character really drew me in. Saw some editing errors but liked the story enough to keep going. Was very glad I did. A lot of times I read a story and even though there are two main characters, the story revolved around just one's perspective. I really enjoyed seeing things from the male perspective as well and loved the emotional roller coaster ride. Cannot wait to read the next book in the series!!

Poison sucked me in from the first page. It was a fast paced suspense and a second chance romance. It had me on the edge of my seat through the book and was hard to put down. I loved the main characters and where the story takes place. There is lots of chaos and drama takes place. Between a psycho ex spouse and bandaging up a past broken romance and starting over. I can't wait to read the next book in, The Seaclusion Series.

I had a really hard time with this book. I don't give spoilers, so I'm not going into detail about what happens. However, I will say that there are areas of this book that make absolutely no sense to me. It was difficult for me to get "into" this book, but once I mustered up the energy to finish it, I was left wondering "wtf?". Maybe I was having an off day, but if things don't jive, I am critiquing like crazy. Some people may like the style of writing in this book, it didn't work for me.

Cassie Reeves and John Tyler had been star crossed lovers a decade ago. Until she betrayed him in a way he couldn’t forgive. Now they are face to face again for the first time. He’s a successful doctor in a small town on the Oregon coast and she’s on the run from her recently released from prison, abusive exhusband.
Where do they go from here? Are Cassie and her young son in real danger? Does John really want to help?
An engaging love story with suspense, angst and more.

While this story was a bit on the predictable side, this novel is one that will keep the reader's attention to the end. It is Leanne Davis' ability to create characters and situations that feel like they could be pulled from real life situations which keeps the reader coming back time and again. I'm looking forward to Luke and Kelley's story in book 2.

Secrets... betrayal... deceit.. emotional is what comes to my mind reading this book! Cassie runs back into a old fling after 10 years and John is not happy he gets volunteered to be her hero. But the question is does he still have feelings for her? I can’t wait to read Luke’s story next!

An ex-lover, an abusive ex-husband and a vulnerable young son--what's a girl with her own issues to do? She gathers her determination and gets the job done. Many emotional and psychological twists to keep a reader guessing until the very end. I can't wait to get my hands on Luke & Kelly's story which is the next installment in the series.

What A Book!

I must say that this author is very good at what she does. I hated Dr. John most of the book, but the story was so good I had to keep reading! I loved Cassie and Tim. The “surprise” was something I didn’t see coming. This one had an crazy ex, stalking, a cute kid, a H with his head up his butt and a h who knew what she needed to do.
