Brandon Dawson is a scaling and turnaround expert, business leadership mentor, and serial entrepreneur whose mission is to help business owners, their families, and their teams achieve their personal, professional, and financial goals through the growth of their business.
Brandon learned the power of scale when he was just 16 years old, working on his parent’s walnut farm. He learned that people are the foundation of business, and dedicated his life to perfecting the art of scaling through leadership and proven strategies in the areas of operations, finance, marketing, belief, strategy, execution, and team alignment. Brandon founded his first business at the age of 26 and was one of the youngest people to ring the bell on the American Stock Exchange. With zero debt and no outside capital, he founded and self-funded Audigy Group, ultimately growing annual revenue to over $35 million through organic growth. He exited the company at 77X EBITDA for $151 million. He’s achieved numerous awards in business, and his companies have been recognized on the Inc. 500 and Inc. 5,000 Fastest-Growing Companies list five times. Today, Brandon coaches Cardone Ventures’ clients on how to use his proven leadership and business strategies as the foundation for strategic growth so that they can follow in his footsteps and create their own legacies.
I'm unsure what I expected from this book when I started it. I hoped there might be something I hadn't read about building successful organizations. Perhaps it would bring something valuable to a market already proliferated with sales funnel entry business books, but unfortunately, it failed. Outside of a few small talking points, there is little true value here that might take up half a page if you removed the fluff. Simple ideas like finding a mentor who has successfully gotten to where you want to be, hiring others to take tasks away from you, setting up systems and standardization in your business, and not micromanaging your team are common in most business readings.
From there, however, some of the advice turned potentially dangerous. The idea that if you're not willing to spend your last dollar on helping your business succeed means that you're not "all in" and could lead a hopeful business owner into failure and debt. But fear not; the book has a solution. Contact Cardone Ventures to "10X your business," the Grant Cardone way, and pay an even heftier amount to get their advice. Not sure if 1-on-1 training is right for you? There's always attending their 10X365 conference for $40k. Remember, if you're not paying your last dollar to 10X your business, you're just holding yourself back. For the suspicious reader wondering if spending so much money is the right thing to do, about 30% of the book is filled with case studies on how successful businesses that used Cardone Ventures to build their company were.
The book is another unfortunate title, baiting unwilling small businesses into a sales funnel that could be dangerous to their livelihood. You can certainly read it to feel motivated about your possibilities, but as Ray Dalio warns in his "Principles," you should "watch out for assertive 'fast talkers.'"
A very good read with great insights - power of people.
This book highlights the power of people around us when we are trying to scale and succeed. If you want to be successful, make others successful and they will give you freedom - essence of the book. Lots of good case studies.
This book is filled with so much value. I feel like I had taken a peek into the life of millionaires and billionaires and how they've scaled their small businesses into giants. It also includes some personal lessons from the author that you will definitely come across on this road, such as navigating relationships when you're far too busy with building your empire. Armed with this knowledge, I see a bigger vision of the business I'm currently creating; suddenly becoming a millionaire looks more attainable, given that you have the patience and determination.
Love it. What an empowering book. Just getting my business started and wow what an inspiration to strive for. I have drank the Kool-aid Brandon and Grant. Wished I would have had mentors like you when I first started. I had the mind set just went nowhere with it. And no one to believe. A great read/listen for all entrepreneurs
Great book on helping people think bigger with their life and their business. I like Brandon's straight-forward approach and his clear passion for his work. His PPF goal setting approach is simple, yet effective. I wouldn't consider him a "go-to" for the relationship aspect he sneaks in, but that's a minor note in an otherwise awesome book on mindset and growth.
I can sum up my review by saying Brandon never disappoints in teaching actionable and relatable principles that allow you to figure out the next step in your journey for yourself.
I took more than 6 pages of notes on Brandon's book, and I'd place it near my top business book recommendations, after having read hundreds of them over the years. It's just phenomenal.
Instead of just heaping praise on the thing for paragraph after paragraph, why don't I just share a few of my top takeaways, and you can see for yourself if it's a book you want to check out:
“The fastest way to succeed is to find the closest example of what you want to accomplish and model yourself after the person who achieved it.”
“Know that if you give up, those around you will also give up, and that if you develop true resilience and resourcefulness, those around you will discover the same qualities in themselves.”
“Everything you learn about yourself is good news. Even the stuff that seems unflattering.”
“When I was running a sales team, I would have my sales people make fifty calls a day after they’d done their training. What they didn’t know was that I already had two or three clients ‘seeded’ and basically teed up to buy each day. So by the end of the week, the new salesperson would make their 250 calls and get five or eight deals. As a result, they would come to work and believe they could continue to get two or three deals a day. I found that once I did that, I never had to push them that much more, because they would feel like they had figured out success.”
“As a leader, your job is to make other people’s success easy.”
“Riches start from the mind, not your pocketbook, bank account, or investments. The pocketbook, bank account, and investments are the effects, not the causes, of a mindset of abundance. The cause is always an idea or belief about money. A person is not rich because they have money; they have money because they are already abundant in consciousness.”
“An abundance mindset believes there is an infinite number of opportunities for an infinite number of people.”
There's obviously tons more, but that should give you a pretty good idea of what you're in for.
Some generally good advice though is to learn from someone who has actually DONE the thing that YOU want to do, and so if your goal is to grow your business to unimaginable heights, Brandon’s your guy and this is your book.
Looking to take your business to the next level and beyond? Then Nine-Figure Mindset by entrepreneur and business icon Brandon Dawson should be on your "to read" list.
Sharing his wealth of business experience, Dawson goes through how he built his business and now mentors others to assess their business, create efficiencies, and work smarter to create growth. Dawson shares his history in the first section. The second section is filled with steps on how you can apply his strategies to your own business, along with case studies from clients he and his team have mentored.
While I recommend Nine-Figure Mindset, I had challenges with the format and the narration. The audiobook comes in at just over six hours. Like stated above, the first section is all about Dawson, which I think is meant to cement for the reader that he is the perfect person to write this book for entrepreneurs. However, I felt it would have been a much more engaging read if Dawson's story unfolded chapter by chapter alongside sharing his strategies. Also, Dawson narrated this book. His manner of speaking is fast and furious. There weren't a lot of peaks and valleys, and chapters ended abruptly. A professional narrator would have provided a smoother, cleaner read. None of this takes away from the validity of the content or the great advice contained in Nine-Figure Mindset, but it didn't work for me as a reader.
Take Dawson's advice and use it to help you grow your business. The afterword is a great summation of what to do and not do, and you will quickly understand why Dawson has been so successful.
I picked this book up at a time in my life where I was desperately seeking a business mentor. 3 years into my business ownership career with two small businesses, I have struggled through feeling neck-deep in day to day tasks and not truly working on optimizing the business itself. Cardone Ventures and this book helped reaffirm that this is extremely common, and extremely correctable by adopting a new mindset and drive that the world is full of infinite possibilities waiting to be explored.
I particularly liked the sharing of case-studies from other business owners that were exposed to Brandon’s teachings. This helped take the advice away from a theoretical application to a very practical and real application. Having been through the experience himself, Brandon already has much of the credibility I have been looking for versus a purely academic mentor teaching these topics. The additional case studies are icing on the cake.
The biggest takeaway for me is that success starts with a mindset with which all other business processes and procedures can be developed. Take a typical goal and make it 10 times larger, and you just may find what you are looking for with the right dedication and structure. Cardone Ventures has helped put me on the right path to instilling long-term personal, professional, and financial success for my businesses and employees.
9 Figure Mindset was an excellent book by Brandon Dawson! One of my biggest takeaways was learning a lot about goal setting, and working towards those goals rather than around them, or backwards. Everything is done first by establishing a greater mindset in which you wish to accomplish your goals. Something else I took from this book is your perspective on everything. How you look at situations and interpret them is how your mind is going to shift and interpret a lot out of life. If you focus on negatives, you will attract negativity. If you focus on positives, you will attract positivity.
This one was a bit of a disappointment, over half of the book was testemonials, which were not that great. Someone selling pools during the pandemic isn't the most inspirational story, they all did really well! The rest felt like an advertisment for his colaboration with Grant Cordone. Some good stuff in the beginning but it fell short for me.
I got to know Brandon's specialty and I'm fascinated by his mission, vision and how he goes about helping businesses to improve our society. He's a great leader to follow.
I had a lot of "oh that makes sense" and "duh! I should have known that!" moments. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for all the testimonials. They made sense being there it's just that it started feeling like back to back infomercial. I started feeling sold to.
This book lacked any sort of substantial content to help you go from zero to $100 million net worth. It was a gigantic pamphlet on hiring Brandon and his team. Definitely skip this book and spend time on other personal development and business books instead.
DNF. Halfway through the book and am still wondering when the tangible information comes. A bunch of prolix stories without a coherent theme. Disappointed to be honest.
