My first and last thoughts on this novel? More please! Like, now.

This intriguing story definitely had a hard hitting back-story. It was fully developed and really made you stop and think. It also shaped the lives of many of the characters, giving you insight into who they were as apposed to who they are now. Centeno’s intensely visual descriptions paint a picture for her readers. This meshes with the very natural flow of the story to create an aura of both completeness and intensity that pulls you forwards and further into this well created world. There were some very unique concepts presented in this novel that seemed completely normal and everyday as they were extremely clearly laid out, while keeping the reader entrenched in the storyline itself. Honestly, my biggest (and only) issue with this novel was the fact that I questioned who in the world would buy a 12 year old a stallion, but hey, I’m sure it happens.

The characters in this novel were also very well put together. There was a definite line between the ‘good guys’ and the ‘bad guys’, allowing the readers to differentiate between the two sides of the story. That said, the characters were not so easily divided. As you get to know more about them not only are you able to relate to many of them, but their personalities and backgrounds also help to further the storyline. The varied personalities and backgrounds of the characters are extremely diverse, yet add a sense of community to the story. Also, I absolutely loved the main characters. They were both fighting with some serious issues and histories yet they were able to be themselves while they were attempting to accept who they were. It was rather awe inspiring.

As a whole, this novel can be summed up with 1 phrase, ‘Holy Hell Hannah, what a rush!’ I couldn’t put this novel down from the beginning to the very end, where I reluctantly had to part ways with these lovely characters. I definitely want to read more from this intriguingly inspiring author, both in this series and of her writing as a whole.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Secrets of the Moon is a Paranormal, Young Adult/New Adult romance tale.
The story is told in single POV, but I would have loved it to be multiple POV it would have added and extra depth to the characters.
Secrets of the Moon is a paranormal story with secrets and lies, action and adventure, mayhem and madness, drama and suspense, thrills and tragedy, danger and let's not forget the romance. This story that had me captivated from the very beginning. Kristy’s writing keeps you on your toes expect the unexpected.
It is a touch dark, sexy, with a touch of fun and a delicious tale that has sexy Werewolves, Mates, Twins, family drama and things that go bump in the night.
The storyline is well thought out and cleverly woven together. The characters are well developed, complex and interesting.
Kyran is sexy, dark, brooding, and troubled and along with having a secret or two he is being torn in two. Trouble seems to follow Marjorie wherever she goes but she runs toward danger not from it. However, as secrets begin to come to light, Marjorie’s world is turned upside down once again.
It doesn’t end with a cliffy but there are a few unanswered questions, but I still really enjoyed the story. Hopefully all will be revealed in the next book.
If you love paranormal/supernatural you will not be disappointed.

Bring on more.

Honestly? I was incredibly surprised by this book. It blew me away. And that's saying a lot, considering how many werewolf books I've read. Werewolves are my favorite supernatural/paranormal/fantasy creatures. But this book, oh boy, they were so different from any of the other werewolf books I've read.

Marjorie Emery was in a car crash because she was driving way above the speed limit and she was drunk. It didn't help that a herd of deer and a huge furry beast appeared in the middle of the road. All of her friends came out alive, as well as Marjorie, but one friend who (very stupidly) wasn't wearing a seatbelt could no longer walk and of course she blames Marjorie.

Skip forward thirteen months later and Marjorie is a changed person. And then walks in Kyran. Hottie, and suddenly a possible love interest for Marjorie. Quiet, and not so interested in the people around him, well, except for Marjorie, Kyran is a mystery. As events unfold and people go missing, animals get mauled to death things start to click in place for Marjorie.

Okay, so this is probably the most grotesque teen werewolf book I've ever read. And if I'm being completely honest, it's a nice change from all of the sappy werewolf books where the werewolves are as dangerous as little puppies. This is a real werewolf book. There is the romance, but there is also a probable werewolf. It's a believable story.

The things I think could've been improved: When her dog and her horse die Marjorie doesn't seem all that concerned. She thinks something along the lines of 'Yeah, that dog is definitely dead.' And 'The horrifying site of my mauled horse.' But no real despair. If something had happened to my dog or one of my horses, or even one of my chickens, I'd be in tears for days. Though I can understand that she was more concerned with her life at that moment, but still. There are gaps in the story. I kept wondering 'Which one ate her horse?' And 'Who is stalking her here, and who is stalking her there?' A fair few questions were left unanswered, so I sincerely hope there will be another book to answer those questions. If there isn't I will be severely disappointed.

Now for the things I liked about the story: The characters were believable. I hate it when authors make them transparent and clichéd. This story had real characters that I can picture in my head. As I said before, the werewolves felt more believable than any werewolves in any story I've ever read before. I liked the love story. Though I hope there isn't a love triangle between Marjorie and Kyran and Alexis. I liked both Kyran and Alexis, but I have no idea whose side I'd be on if it came down to that.

I also think I know who the alpha of the rogue werewolves is. I'm not going to voice my suspicions, in case I am right. Read the story yourself and come up with your own conclusions.

Overall, a wonderful story that I hope will continue into another book. A story doesn't have to be perfect and polished and full of light to be a good story. This book has a dark side to it, and I think that's part of what made it a good book. I think it gave a different side of pseudo-reality that you simply don't get in most young adult werewolf books. Now there are plenty of horror books with scary werewolves, but this isn't a horror book. This is the real werewolf YA.

I really don't want to sound mean or anything... but the cover really creeps me out. :/ It's soooo weird. Like they just Photoshop the head and put it there. It's not her head... >.< CREEPY. I hope the cover gets a make-over cause it's really not that good. Sorry.

Anyway, on to the review...

The whole time I was reading it I was reminded of Twilight. The first time Marjie met Kyran inside the classroom, it screamed Twilight to me. Up to you if you think that is a bad thing or not. But if you ask me, I'd say yeah a bit. I mean, it may not be the intention of the author but just a coincidence... Oh fine, who am I kidding? I don't believe in coincidences anyway. LOL.

I was comparing it to Twilight mainly because, the guy was like Edward where he couldn't be near Bella because of certain circumstances. And then guy treated girl like he was mad at her but really, he's not. Then the next moment, guy is back to being sweet with girl... Next up, both Edward and Kyran got family, siblings in the school. Well, community college in this case. Then, they both got nice big house in the middle of nowhere. Both towns are not that well populated. Okay, I could go on and on and on about it. But I don't think it's necessary anymore.

Main question is, did I enjoy reading it? Yes. I did. Some of it. Okay, it's not like Twilight where in like 20% girl knows that the guy is a vamp. In here it takes like 50% or something to out that Kyran is not human. The whole family of Kyran are not human. I was intrigued at how the story was created, by that I meant how the whole paranormal setting is. Not the love story which is good, but mostly about the world building.

It still excites me, making me want to know what will happen next to the story. When the book ends, I immediately went to Google and search for the second book. But I don't find any. Is the author still writing the second book? Cause I still want to know what will happen next. It doesn't have a cliffhanger as far as I could tell but you definitely will think, "Well, what now?"

Guess that's it. Great world building but the love story I wish is not something that would remind me of Twilight or any other books. But yes, over all paranormal world is really good.

Would I recommend it to my friends? MAYBE. Those who are Twilight fan, I guess.

*I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

I've always had a soft spot for paranormal romance, and I love those creatures that howl in the night. Secrets of the Moon has no shortage of warm-blooded, sexy werewolves. For the record, if the Rousseau's moved to my town, I'd probably never leave their house.

The story starts out on a rather depressing note with main character Marjorie involved in a car accident that severely injures both Marjorie and her friends. The rest of the story takes place thirteen months after the accident. I liked Marjorie's character. She's spunky and intelligent, though haunted by the accident since she was driving when it happened. I appreciated that her friends stood by her even after the accident. Many friendships would crumble after something so devastating.

Romantic interest Kyran is dark, brooding, and troubled. He and Marjorie have an intense, instant attraction for each other. It's obvious from the beginning that Kyran is hiding a deep, dark secret. He has a hard time being around Marjorie, and when the reason is finally revealed, it's rather sad. I felt a deep connection with Kyran, and can't help but root for their relationship.

The Rousseau family is entertaining, I loved them all. Four sexy brothers, an adorable sister, and a sweet mate. Alexis, Kyran's twin, is his polar opposite. It's really impossible to not adore the lighthearted Alexis. I enjoyed the plot line, it was interesting, revealing information at a good pace. The action sequences are well written and exciting. Marjorie sure is a magnet for trouble!

Secrets of the Moon ends not necessarily in a cliffhanger, but without revealing the head bad guy. The reader is also left with many questions but will have to wait for the next book for answers. I recommend this book to everyone high school and up that enjoys paranormal romance. If you like werewolves, then this is the book for you.

I received an ebook copy via JGBS Review Library in exchange for an honest review. I made no guarantee of a favorable review and the opinions expressed here are unbiased and my own.

I love reading books about werewolves and this one reeled me in right from the start as the story is well written and the characters are outstanding. I will add that there were moments when I found Marjorie and her friends to be completely immature but not enough to stop me from reading though I did roll my eyes quite a few times.

The author has added the right combination of drama, romance and secrets that leaves you wanting more and I will definitely be reading more of her books. My only gripe is that there seems to be something off about the cover.

Received a copy of this book from the author, through Juniper Grove Book Solutions, in exchange for an honest review.

I am a huge paranormal fan. While I’ve neglected this genre a little lately, I absolutely adore getting lost in the world of vampires, witches and magic. But I have to admit, my all time favorite paranormal/fantasy creature is none other than the werewolf! So, when I heard that Juniper Grove Book Solutions was hosting the Secrets of the Moon blog tour, I had to get involved. And boy am I glad I did. I’m not sure I would have stumbled across this gem otherwise. I have to hand it to Kristy Centeno, she did a remarkable job with this story. The story was well developed, the werewolf world she created was fascinating and her characters were believable. I enjoy it when an author creates a character that I could pass on the street…maybe they won’t be a werewolf but their mannerisms, their actions, it’s something I could see in DC tomorrow. And let’s not forget the fact that these mannerisms and actions just so happened to belong to a beautiful set of swoon-worthy twins. That’s right, TWINS! Two identical, totally different, hot twins. My. Oh. My. I digress. But…I have to admit…I think what sold me the most was the action. This book was full of it! Yes, there is romance and I definitely enjoyed watching the relationships between these characters grow, but the action sealed the deal. I found myself speed reading through the book, while biting my nails, as I anticipated what would happen next. I love it when a book makes me do that!

Secrets of the Moon starts off on a little bit of a sad note. After drinking one night, Marjorie and her friends decide to go out for a joyride. While Marjorie is less intoxicated than her friends, she is in no way fit to drive. However, after a little bit of peer pressure, she gives in and everyone heads out for a good time. As tragedy strikes after a herd of deer and a large, mysterious animal appear in the road ahead, Marjorie loses control of her car which results in her friends and herself charging through the guardrail and down the embankment at Dead Man’s Curve. Luck was on Marjorie’s side that night though and miraculously she, as well as her friends, survived the crash. However, Angela, Marjorie’s best friend, was left paralyzed and forced into a wheelchair as a result. While Marjorie suffered both physically and emotionally from the crash, her parents also suffered financially. The hospital bills, insurance etc. really add up after a crash like that. It’s talked about multiple times but I still can’t fathom the guilt that Marjorie has been carrying around for the past year after the accident. I can’t imagine what she’s been thinking/feeling but she seems to be going through the motions of life to get by. That is, until Kyran Rousseau and his beautiful family walk onto campus. From the moment Marjorie lays eyes on Kyran, she’s drawn to him. But, much to her disappointment, so is every other girl on campus. He’s beautiful in a way that draws attention and everyone in Wolf Creek Hallow seems to notice. As certain events begin to unfold, Marjorie begins to see that many secrets hide behind those silver eyes; more than she could have ever imagined. As these secrets begin to unravel, her world is turned upside down!

From the very beginning I knew something was different about Marjorie. She’s very intuitive and seems to feel things instead of having to see them. She’s also very brave and impulsive. Multiple times throughout the story she seems to act without thinking. Never in a million years would I have rushed into the woods, at night, to follow a beastly creature. Um no. I’m freaking out if I hear an out of place noise in my locked up apartment. Get me in the woods and I would lose it for sure. Yet Marjorie seems to have no trouble running off to face danger without thinking about her personal safety. Although some of her decisions were questionable, I really like Marjorie. She comes off as a very down to earth character that I can relate to. Even though her mistakes were different from mine, all teenagers make crazy, sometimes extremely stupid decisions that land them in the doghouse with the rents. Overall, I thought Marjorie was a strong female character. She was tough, took up for herself and didn’t run at the hint of danger. I loved that about her. I also didn’t mind that the book was told solely from her point of view. Yes, I would love nothing more than to get inside the heads of the twins but I didn’t necessarily feel like I was missing out by not having it. I can’t wait to read more about Marjorie in the future. I have this need to know exactly why she’s being stalked by werewolves…and why some ‘talents’ have arisen that normal humans don’t posses.

And then there’s Kyran. Oh arrogant, dark and mysterious Kyran. What a puzzle you are! Kyran was definitely a character that took a little getting used to. His brother Alexis, however, I immediately fell in love with. While Kyran’s stand-offish, doesn’t like attention and is a little anti-social, Alexis is just the opposite. Still, I was drawn to him. I wanted to know all of his secrets. What he was thinking. How he felt. What he was. I wanted it all! And yet, when I got a glimpse, I found myself say no. No. NO! What an unexpected turn of events. Bravo Ms. Centeno! Even through it all though, I couldn’t help but to sympathize with Kyran. He’s been dealt a pretty crappy hand and all he wants it to be with the one he loves. Every stolen kiss, glance or “accidental” encounter had me liking Kyran more and more. As his love and protectiveness shines through his hard exterior, I found myself swooning to beat the band. I can’t wait to see how he handles things in future books.

Ok, I definitely need to note here that I loved each and every single one of the characters in this book. From Kyran, to Alexis, Josephine, Marjorie, Simone, Gage and Marquis, I loved them all! I’d love a story or some back stories on each and every one of them but I know that’s a lot. I do hope that in future books we can get a glimpse inside Kyran and/or Alexis’ head though. Although the sole point of view worked for this book, I do wonder what those twins are up to. I’m also keeping my fingers crossed that a love triangle doesn’t develop for Alexis, Kyran and Marjorie. I only say this because, I’m not sure who’s side I’d be on. I actually loved the twins equally but for different reasons. While I loved Kyran’s strength and dark side, I loved Alexis’ flirtatious behavior and easy going attitude. I have a feeling the triangle is brewing though and that we’ll see much more from both Kyran and Alexis with Marjorie in the future. Hey, no complaints here. Twins are always welcome at Down the Rabbit Hole!

After finishing this book, I definitely want more. I need to know how this story continues! I feel like Kristy has succeeded in setting up a series that captivates its readers. I did appreciate that while I was left wanting more, the book did not end with a cliffhanger. While there isn’t a definite conclusion, and things were left a little open-ended since there are certain things left to resolve, I wasn’t left with an “OMG what in the world just happened with no conclusion” face. And that’s definitely a good thing in my book. I love it when books can wrap up on a happy note, and while Secrets of the Moon wasn’t exactly unicorns and sunshine, it was a nice change :)

If you’re looking for an action packed werewolf tale with a little bit of romance and family drama, then I definitely recommend Secrets of the Moon!

Secrets of the Moon is a werewolf-fated mates story. The Rousseaus pack has just moved to Wolf Creek Hollow where there are rumors of an ancient wolf bloodline that may be able to rid one of their own of a bloodlust mutation. Kyran is the wolf member with this mutation and is working with his siblings to find a cure. They decide to enroll in the local college to fit in and try to get answers about who this person could be. Many packs are living in the area, but there is no mistaking that he believes he finds the one, she just also happens to be his mate and human. Wolves and humans don’t mate so he is confused about how this could be happening.

Marjorie, the young girl who grew up in this area, is trying to get back to normal life after a severe car accident with friends a year before. When meeting Kyran for the first time, she also feels this pull, but she doesn’t understand why. She starts to recognize many strange things start to happen around her. She is warned to stay away from this new family because of their “history”, but she just sees it as jealousy. She comes to also have a similar “mated” feeling with Kyran’s twin Alexis. As she navigates these awkward feelings, she learns the truth which she is having a hard time handling. Will she be able to trust them, what does this bond mean, and what does this mean for her future?
I thought the story was a little different compared to your normal werewolf tale. I liked the male characters, they were charming, honest, and a little scary, but protective and seemed to want to prove that they were worthy of being there. Marjorie, on the other hand, was an okay character. I feel there were times when she really needed to get over herself, especially when she had most of the answers in front of her. In addition, I thought the writing of the author was strange at times. I don’t know how to really explain it, but there seemed to be missing moments where I had to stop and think about why they weren’t talking about something or why they were talking about it at that moment. This is part one of the Chronicles of the Lost Clan series and the first book left many questions unanswered.

Secrets of the Moon is a YA paranormal story full of drama, danger, suspense, action, secrets, lies, romance, and werewolves. The storyline is exquisitely written with vivid scene descriptions that pull you in and fully immerse you into the story. The characters are real, raw, multi-faceted, and intriguing. From the first few pages I became completely engrossed with the story and it kept my attention until the end. The story starts off with Marjorie who has been in a car accident that left her, and her friends severely injured. Thirteen months later she is still feeling guilt over the accident but has forged forward which is a testament to her strength and resilience. When Kyran arrives in town Marjorie is attracted to him, but his constant mood swings and broody attitude has her wondering if he is mutually interested in her. Kyran knows Marjorie is his mate but is unable to pursue her due to a genetic defect. He does feel the need to protect her from the threat and imminent danger that she is in. Can these two ever have a future together? A great read that leaves me anxious to read the next book.

Secrets of the Moon (Chronicles of the Lost Child Series) by Kristy Centeno . This is a great 1st book to the Chronicles of the Lost Child series. I can't wait to read the next one. Its the story of Marjorie who was in a really bad car accident that severely injured herself and several of her friends. Several months later Marjorie is still haunted by the accident because she was behind the wheel and because it left on of her best friends in a wheelchair. She beats herself up daily and on top of that her family has been put thru the ringer financially and they don't let her forget it. When Kyran Rousseau walks onto her school campus she is smitten. He's gorgeous and everyone on campus is enthralled by him. Marjorie is especially drawn to Kyran but so is everyone else. Marjorie is so intuitive and can tell that Kyran is full of secrets and so is his family. Kyran knows Marjorie is his mate but with his mood swings and erratic behavior Marjorie isn't sure about him. Not realizing she is in imminent danger Kyran will protect at every cost! This is a great werewolf love story. Can't wait to read the next one.

Secrets of the Moon was definitely an interesting read. Filled with drama, suspense, and a touch of romance. The overall storyline I found intriguing, while the actual delivery was a bit disjointed. I found some parts of the story to be fast-paced and full of information while other parts were disconnected and felt like it just reiterated what had already been told. I felt like Marjorie and her friends were portrayed more like high school age rather than early 20s. This was also the case for the community college setting; I felt like it was more like a high school rather than a college. The small-town setting, however, was perfect for this story. The world building of Kristy Centeno was pretty good though. I could see the shadows of the trees, feel the breeze on my face, and hear the sounds of the forest while reading. I felt that this book had a lot of potential, but fell just a little bit short of what I was hoping for. However, I would be willing to read more by Kristy Centeno.

Marjorie emery was acting like a typical teenage girl when her life was abruptly changed, months later she is still struggling to act like her old self. When Kyran Rousseau arrives in her town she feels a link to him that is unmatched with anything she has ever felt before but for some reason Kyran is nice one moment and then distant in other moments.

Kyran knows Marjorie is his mate but as a twin and the son with a genetic defect he knows that he cannot pursue his mate. The pull is strong though and there is a threat that is coming that has everyone trying to protect Marjorie who is struggling with the secrets that are unfolding around her.

This was great, what a uniquely different shifter story. I was pulled in right away, found Kyran a bit broody and had a darker charismatic vibe in the story. Marjorie was a girl who I definitely wanted to know more about. I definitely want more for this series. So many complex plot points I want to see how they pan out.

This is a YA paranormal book, the first in the Chronicles of the Lost Child Series by Kristy Centeno. Within these pages there is mystery, romance, secrets, curses, rivalries, and oh so much more.

Marjorie's life was turned upside down one fateful night when she and her friends crashed her vehicle. The aftermath of that night really weighs heavily on her as she tries to move on, but is finding that hard to do. Enter new student Kyran, who is immediately drawn to Marjorie and her to him. Although Kyran knows he can't be with her, he wants to imagine it for a bit and get to know her. This is where it really gets interesting! What would you do if both you and your twin were fated mates to the same person? This and so much more is what Kyran faces in this wonderful take on mates. If you are like me, you will read this book and want to know what happens next to these interesting characters.

I was drawn to this book by the gorgeous cover, and once I read the synopsis knew I had to pick it up! I enjoyed that this was a little longer than most of the books I’ve read lately as I typically feel that it ends too soon. The stories in the paranormal & young adult romance genre can blend together and feel a little ‘been there done that,’ but the author really found some unique perspective to add here! The chemistry between Marjorie and Kyran is undeniable, and the tension kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I am now pulling up other books by this author because I need more of her writing in my life! I did not see some of the twists coming and loved every turn I was thrown. If you are looking for an amazing YA romance with a strong dose of the paranormal, look no further because this is your next read!

When I first started reading this book I thought it was going to be good, but this book was so much more than I expected it would be. It is a fantastic YA fantasy story that was is exciting to read from start to finish. The characters had such a strong connection and I loved how the story centred around them.
I have only recently discovered this author but this book has cemented the fact that I will be looking into more of her work. The way she writes completely draws you in and has you hooked from start to finish. I loved reading this book and could have easily read more of it. I would definitely recommend it and I am looking forward to reading more of this authors work.

Secrets of The Moon is book one in the Chronicles of the Lost Child series by Kristy Centeno. I have always been a fan of anything paranormal and/or fantasy, so of course I picked this up as soon as I found it. Overall, I loved Kristy's ability to put you right there in the settings with the characters, and I loved the characters themselves so much. This book is definitely slow going sometimes, but wholeheartedly worth the read. I don't believe I've had the pleasure of reading Kristy's work previously, but I'll definitely be checking out more from her, as well as book two as soon as I can find it!

I really love finding new authors as well as a new series. I absolutely love werewolf romances and this definitely hit the spot. I like how the author is able to bring the characters to life and grab the reader by the shirt tales. I really was unable to put this book down. The author is able to weave a story and has a unique twist to it. It was definitely a breath of fresh air for me. The romance is evened out with a bit of drama. The characters are also very relatable and well written. I felt as though I was right there with them and look forward to seeing how this series unfolds. I will definitely be reading more from this author and series in the future.

Marjorie's life changed the day an accident happened on Dead Man's Curve. Wolf Creek Hollow is where she lives on a farm with her father and stepmother. She was a typical teenager pushing limits like everyone else, when one day a new boy showed up at school. She is enticed by his smell and she has no idea why. Sparks fly but will the truth of who he really is push her to walk away. The tension in this book will have riveted to the pages. Excited to read the next book.

The pull of this story has brought me in from the beginning. The way the book is written is very well done and flows really well, especially between all the characters. I like how each family interacts with their respective families. Overall, it’s a very good read especially when you want to escape from the busyness of everyday life.

From the first few pages this author had me hooked. This is a great paranormal YA read. The charachters are so well developed and follow the story well with plenty of action, drama, and romance. Kept me reading and on my toes!

Read this review and more at Classy Cat Books.

I thought this book was very interesting to read, and I think Centeno has huge potential as an author, though I’d like to see her develop her skills a bit more. I read through this book very quickly because I genuinely enjoyed reading it. The concept of the werewolves in this story was fairly unique and well-described—I could tell that Centeno had a very clear vision of what her weres were like, and that’s a good sign. I’m intrigued to learn more about Marjorie—I don’t feel that I really understand at all what makes her so special (can’t go into details without spoilers), and I found that I really wanted to know while I was reading.

I hope this continues with a second book, mostly because there are some clear developments yet to be resolved—it certainly ended with a bit of a teaser for a second book. I’m curious to watch more of the love triangle to play out, though I’ll be honest that it was probably my least favorite part of this book—love triangles have a tendency to get on my nerves unless there’s a good reason for them. I get the impression that there was a particular reason for this one, but we haven’t really learned enough yet.

However, my reviews tend to focus on the writing, and the skill of Centeno’s writing was a little lower than what I’d like to see to be able to give a particularly high rating. To me, Centeno’s writing style read like someone with a natural ability to write but somewhat limited experience with it. Some of Marjorie’s thoughts were abrupt and felt a little forced. Several of the conversations read more like trying to convey information to the reader than like natural conversations. From my personal experience with writing, it takes a lot of time (more so than a lot of words) to get beyond that stage, and I think Centeno just needs some more experience. There was one mis-spelling that I caught (which honestly isn’t bad, but I’ll admit to be confused for a second as to why someone was in the mists instead of in the midst of something—after all, “words: they mean things”). All in all, I’d like to read more of Centeno’s work, and I particularly want to see her develop as a writer in the process.

I also liked the characters and setting for the most part. They were good characters, though I thought they could have been stronger—this relates to my other comment about the dialog feeling more like information than conversation. The characters each had a unique voice, but didn’t feel quite as alive as I’d have liked. Sometimes I felt like they were a little younger than they were supposed to be, but I’m not sure how much of that was their voices/reactions and how much of that was the setting—the rural town was a great setting for this book, but I felt like they were going to high school and not a community college. I acknowledge that most community colleges are different from each other by nature, since they tend to be built up by the needs of the community that they are supporting, but I kept having to remind myself that this wasn’t public high school whenever there was a comment about paying for classes or something related to college.

Thanks to Oops! I Read A Book Again for hosting this tour, and thanks to Kristy Centeno for the copy of the book.

Secrets of the Moon by Kristy Centeno was a really great read. I have read a few books with werewolf's, but Secret's of the Moon had it's own edge and twist to the story. The story in general was great, but I felt that the pace of it was just everywhere. What do I mean by this? Well I was intrigued by the very first page of the book, but afterwards the pace slowed down. Then when all the mystery starts to be revealed the pace picks up again, and after reading a few more pages the pace slows down again. I felt that if the reading pace was consistent I would have rated it Secret's of the Moon a little higher.

Kristy Centeno provides mystery, love, desire, anguish, death, and so much more in Secret's of the Moon. The mystery was one of the things that intrigued me to keep reading, but I hate to admit that the story was pretty predictable. There are a few things that I was unable to predict, hence the mystery and intrigue, but most of them I could pretty much guess on what was going to happen next. Kristy Centeno did leave a few unanswered questions about some of her character's, and the big mystery of who is the alpha male (I can kind of guess who it will be). Which only intrigues me to read her second book? I hope there is a second book, because Secret's of the Moon ended with a little cliff-hanger.

All of the Kristy Centeno's characters are pretty well developed, but I will admit that Marjorie would get on my nerves. Marjorie is the main character and she has transformed from being a popular, selfish cheerleader into the shy and considerate girl. There are a few times that she gets on my nerves by her actions or just by the way she thinks. But Marjorie did grow on me by the end of the book :). What can I say about hottie Kyran Rousseau? Kyran Rousseau is mysterious, gloomy, bad boy material, he keeps the world out of his life, and he has a Jekyll and Hyde personality. Did I mention he is French? I don't know but I just have a weakness for the French accent and dialogue in general :). I can't really say much about the Rousseau's, because I will spoil the book for all of you.

Of course there is the forbidden love between Kyran and Marjorie. What book doesn't have that kind of relationship? Kyran and Marjorie's relationship exists and doesn't exists, because Kyran doesn't really ask Marjorie to be his girlfriend. But the hot make-out sessions between these two is something you can't complain about. There are obstacles thrown their way to prevent them to fall in love with each other, and to keep them apart from each other. But this doesn't stop the pull and connection they feel towards each other.

Overall, Secret's of the Moon by Kristy Centeno was a great and enjoyable read :D! If Kristy Centeno decided to write a second book, then I will definitely be reading it!

“Having you here with me.” He closed his eyes and lowered his head so that our foreheads touched. “My body wants to make love to you, but my killer instinct wants to kill you!” Oh God, those are words you never want to hear together in the same sentence.

Hmmm where do I start. Lets start with our guy Kyran! :D I have to firstly say that I absolutely loved his entrance. Although having read the same kind of entrance in many books in the past, it NEVER GETS OLD! :D You see considering that I'm a sucker for these mysterious type of guys it was given that I would love this too.
Moving on to Marjorie. Marjorie as she describes herself used to kind of be like a spoiled princess. But after a certain incident in the beginning of the book she's changed a bit and has even become a little shy. The first day that Margie sees Kyran she's unable to take her eyes off him. Who would be able to if hypnotic grey eyes are looking directly at you? I know I wouldn't! *Grins*
Kyran seems nice enough in the start not really paying attention to anyone in particular but her. But when he suddenly starts seeming angry at her for no reason and looking as if he's in pain, Margie knows not everything is as it seems. Over the course of the story Kyran and Margie's relationship progresses.

“Damnit, Kyran, don’t test me because I’ll knock that pretty little head of yours right off those broad shoulders.” Was I giving him a compliment while simultaneously threatening to decapitate him? Leave it to me to come up with a sentence like that one.

Another character that I loved was Tracy. I found her to be a great addition to the story.
By the time I was halfway through the book I was so hooked in that I couldn't stop turning the pages. Loved the chemistry between Kyran and Marjorie. It was just the way I love it. and oh how i wish Alexis gets his own happy ending seeing that he has feelings for Margie otherwise this would become a seriously awkward love triangle. We all know from the summary that the concept of the story is about a werewolf but it was said in a different way. A way I haven't read about werewolves before.
All the characters in the Rousseau family were amazing. Be it Alexis, Gage, Josephine or the others. I loved them all .They way they showed their love for each other portrayed the true essence of what being a family is all about. The only complain I have is the cover. I believe this story could have gotten a better ad unique cover which actually would have suited this amazing story. Other than that I loved this book and would recommend it to one and all. Especially Twilight fans! :)

Well now, this is such an interesting story!! I love werewolf stories and this is no exception! A great plot line with fascinating lore and a little twist of the not so nice kind :) and oh, some great characters!! :) plus HAWT accents lol :)

Marjorie Emery was in a car crash with her friends. She and them made stupid decisions and now she's paying a price. road. She and her friends came out alive, but not everyone came out ok. Now, a year later, this is where the story really starts! There's a foreign new family who's moved into town and one brother has majorly taken an interest. The back then Marjorie was popular and carefree. The now Marjorie is strict and a little more uptight. Plus she has the friend who blames her for the accident. But the new family, their gunna open a whole can of worms for Marjorie and I'm not so sure she's prepared for it!

Kyran is quiet, reserved, serious, sometimes a jerk. Alexis is his twin and polar opposite. You'll figure out why just like Marjorie but not too soon. I loved this little twist because not everything can be easy. When things start going bad, animals horribly mutilated, people missing, crimes occurring, things are starting to add up and Kyran can't hide everything form Marjorie. Especially since the bad guys are taking their own look at her.

The characters are my favorite. They are just awesome! Kyrans family, Marjorie's friends, her parental situation and cute siblings. My dislike is the lack of complete outrage and devastation to the horrible things. Dude my animals are my life, I would lose my mind!!! Also, I wanna know who the bad guy is!!! Lol :) but thank goodness there's another book. And one more time- why do girls have to be stupid. Oh let me follow the monster who just killed my horse into the woods. Oh let me go outside by myself when I know bad guys are stalking me. Ummm let me just slap her several times for that and maybe I'll get over her stupidity. Seriously!! I live on a farm- that don't happen!! Not like that! Hahaha sorry just my little rant!

I really liked the writing and I love the creation of werewolves and the little loophole of crazy :) the characters are complex and that makes them real- I know girls like Marjorie and Tracy and the others :) I also see there being an almost love triangle and I'm not sure how that's gunna play out. I sense some things but I'm gunna read book two before I comment on a team :) and the bad guys-- I have a serious idea but I'm also holding out. This book is great and I absolutely love the creepy feel! I can't wait for more!! 5 CREEPTASTIC WOLFY PAWS!!

I received a copy for a blog tour.

Despite the many cliches of this book, I actually enjoyed reading Secrets of the Moon.

Marjorie Emery got into a car accident with her friends due to drunk driving. Because of that result, she lost her parents' trust, one of her friend can never walk, and her popularity isn't the same as before. While reading the beginning, I had a feeling something bad would happen because of her stupidity.

Moving on. So fast forward to thirteen months later, some new students transferred and well, you can see where this is going. Marjorie and Kyran Rousseau have that instant mutual attraction despite one of them fighting it. Well, it isn't all about romance because after their arrival some freaking things have been happening around Marjorie's hometown. Like campers going missing, cows mauling, and other pets dying. And she knows that something is always watching her and now she wonders if they are related with the Rousseau family especially after reading a certain article that's similar to her situation.

Marjorie's character was likeable enough despite she annoys me sometimes. I felt for when she had that accident but she can't blame anyone than herself although I pitied her especially for the guilt she's feeling for her family and friends. I actually liked her friends, they are funny and they still hang together. I just hate Angela. I can tell that her friendship with Marjorie is seriously over. I understood how she felt but at the same time it is also partly her fault. I'm glad Marjorie stood up for herself and that she has inkling that her friendship with Angela will never be the same.

I have a foreshadowing moment with Marjorie's mother when she was mentioned. I have a feeling that's why Marjorie was experiencing those things with the wolves.

Kyran is just a hotty, sort of sweet, and that suffering hero. I understood his situation better when it was explained. I'm happy that his family loves him, support him, and try to protect him. His situation is sad especially when he can't seem to control his reactions around Marjorie since it's more intense for him. I also liked his family especially his twin brother Alexis, although I kind of felt bad for him because he seemed to like Marjorie and since he has a connection to his brother, it makes things worst.

I can say that there were some steamy scenes between those two and it's kind of funny for me because I can understand their frustration about it.

The ending of course is a cliffhanger and hopefully, we'll get the answers that Marjorie wants to know as well.

3.5 Stars in my Sky!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review!

So in Twilight we met good 'vegetarian' vampires like the Cullens and naughty human eating ones like Victoria and James. Well in Secrets Of The Moon Kristy Centeno does a similar thing with werewolves. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not in any way saying Secrets of the Moon is like Twilight (because thankfully it isn't), I'm just highlighting how Centeno puts an extra twist in the werewolf story by having normal weres and those who lust for blood! Yep humans beware or is it were?

In the prologue we learn how Marjorie crashed her car, nearly killing herself and her friends. Over a year later she's started Uni where she meets the mysterious and slightly creepy, hottie Kyran. It took me ages to realise the main character's were college age because the strict class schedule and campus dynamic seemed more like high school than Uni (maybe it's different outside the UK).

I liked Kyran and felt sorry for his situation, although some of his decisions were really annoying and frustrating. Kyran is moody and dark; he has a really dangerous side which often interferes with his life. Kyran has more secrets than your average college student, yet he's also sexy, strong and powerful.

Alexis is Kyran's twin brother, who is the polar opposite to Kyran. Where Kyran's moody and dark, Alexis is charming and light. He's also clearly got a thing for Marjorie too (lucky girl), I'm hoping the sequel isn't going to include a cheesy love triangle between Marjie and the twins. In a way I think they both suit her, so if we're going to get a love triangle I hope it's done right!?

Centeno leaves a lot unanswered in Secrets Of The Moon. I'm hoping we'll learn more about the supernatural and the other werewolves. I also think Marjie's Mum must have something to do with Marjie's appeal, or at least be able to provide some answers about her special blood. Also who is the secret Alpha?

I enjoyed Secrets Of The Moon and am looking forward to book #2. My only gripe is how Marjie and her friends sometimes come across as immature and some of their conversations were slightly muddled. More Kyran and Alexis soon please...!

It wasn't my first time to read about werewolves. But it was my first time to finish a book about it. I've started Shiver two years ago. But I didn't even get to the half of the story. I just didn't have the energy to read it. So yes, I was always reluctant to read about werewolves! I just feel so awkward with them. Right, weird. But I got up the courage and tried this one. Thank the heavens I did, I actually enjoyed it!

I hope the author won't take offense when I say this but I totally felt like reading Twilight all over again minus the vampires plus more werewolves. I swear. It was all cliche and stuff. But that didn't stop me from enjoying this though. The writing was smooth and all the way good. The pacing was all right too. So I really didn't feel I should stop or anything. I actually cannot wait for the next book if there will be. By that kind of ending, I can tell there's a next one coming!

Maybe it's the fact that it's the first book I've read and finished about werewolves that I enjoyed this. I got to know more about werewolves, about their history and their nature. But those information weren't much of a surprise to me. I don't know why but maybe it's because werewolves were pretty much present in other paranormal books that some things about them were given away already. Still, it was enjoyable to read about it.

And hey, how could I not enjoy this with hot Kyran being present? I actually enjoyed Kyran and Marjorie's struggles to be together. It was so sweet, funny and swoony to read about. I really admire Kyran for being such a gentleman. Given their problem, he still managed to do okay.

Yeah, Cam was hot too. And genuinely sweet! My heart ached for him. I wish I could have gone inside the book and hug him.

Secrets of the Moon is a good paranormal book about werewolves. You'd be fascinated with all the stuff about werewolves. You'd also get to enjoy some hot guys and swoony romance.

The cover of The Secrets of the Moon screams WEREWOLVES!!! The Blurb was very unclear which caused me to second guess myself. However as I read I found out I should NEVER second guess myself. HA!!! Sorry my dork is showing.

So Marjorie was the driver in a drunk driving accident, you see she swerved as not to hit an animal. As a result she and her friends were injured while none lost their lives thankfully! One lost the use of her legs. Marjorie has lived with that guilty for a little over a year. Oh and add to that the financial burden she put on the family. No one blames her for her friends condition as she wasnt wearing a seat belt. But Marjorie blames herself and in the end thats all that really matters. So now Marjorie is a completely different person she's still best friends with the girls from the accident but she much more humble. And even though shes 19 she lives like a 12 year old. Asking for permission to leave her house to gain her fathers trust.

She meets Kyran at school (btw shes in college if her age isnt a dead giveaway) and of course she is extremely attracted to him. He sounds pretty hot so I understand. Kyran is mysterious and French. So yeah his hot level is basically off the charts. OHHH and he has an identical twin brother, Alexis. He comes from a big family. - Sigh - I hate to say it but id be an idiot if I didnt. ( I apologize Kristy ) There are some similarities between The Secrets of the Moon and Twilight. What they all are I cant tell you partially because its been years.. YEARS since I read Twilight and I fear inaccuracy. And partially because the nightquil is kicking in. I will tell you I liked Marjorie 1000 times more than I liked Bella.

I really liked Kryan and Marjorie together, mainly because I want Alexis to myself. I havent read many WERE books I can think of 3 well this is 4. I liked the orginality of The Secrets of the Moon. And I cant wait for the sequel.. Umm exactly when will that be?

The secrets of the moon follows Marjorie, a college student growing up in a hick town in the USA, who suddenly finds herself thrust into a world of werewolves and danger.

The opening of this book is amazing, it takes the standard YA heroine and drops her on her head. We have a main character responsible for a drunken car crash and paralysation of a friend in the first few pages. There is also a glimpse of the werewolves that will mean so much later. The opening is excellent and I thoroughly expected to enjoy the rest of the book.

Unfortunately the opening is the only truly original piece of this pie. Marjorie is now no longer a party girl, but someone worn down by her parent's financial worries and cares and she doesn't date anymore. We then get the handsome, sparkly (this is an intentional reference) new boy, who's mysterious and doesn't seem to like her. He takes her out, then ignores her. She meets his family, who are exceptionally nice, oh and she's being followed.

The main problem with this book is that it reads like a fanfic version of Twilight, only with werewolves. Bits of the book are excellent, the main character is proactive and not brainless but unfortunately any character development she gets is ruined by the plot's following of Twilight.

Unfortunately this plot is unerringly similar and not in a 'well there are only so many plots way'. This book has whole chunks of text which could have been ripped from Twilight or New Moon and re-written for werewolves. Not all of it, but enough that it pulls me out of the text.

This book could have stood alone without that. It had a brilliant setup, a great main character and the potential for a bit of mystery solving, but it unfortunately went for Fanfic route.

I would urge the author to take her text and re-edit. There is a great book in here, it just needs to lose the fanfic trappings and stand firmly on it's own.
