I loved the beginning of this book.
It introduced Anna Brookes as this badass and completely kickass child with an affinity for everything guns and a very keen eye for sharpshooting. But she learned from a very early age that when people realized her talents, it made them slightly errr… uncomfy. So she also mastered the art of masking her feelings as well as her intentions.
But something happened to Anna when she turned fifteen.
Something that made her into the highly sought-after assassin she soon became.
See, at the beginning of this book… the writing was awesome. It was a little gritty and a whole lot refreshing with a bit of eccentricity.
AND I WAS SO EXCITED!
And we’re not talking just a little excitement here, guys. We’re talking like omg-Aunt-June-just-brought-cocktails-to-church excitement, okay?
But then…
At about 12%... the story made like the Titanic and took a complete NOSE DIVE.
Anna met uber hot Ben. Well, I thought Ben was uber hot. Turns out he uses the endearment ‘Baby Girl” waaaahaaay too much and waaahaaaay too early on in the relationship.
But I digress.
Okay, let me break it down for you:
Badass Anna becomes an assassin.
Badass Anna meets Ben.
Badass Anna sleeps with Ben.
Badass Anna finds out that she has to kill Ben: Hit 149
And badass Anna has a problem with this.
She claims that her problem lies with ethics. And that she really doesn't want to kill a guy she just met and who's a really good person.
But I’m like:
No, honey. It’s because Ben was a really good lay.
And badass Anna doesn’t want to kill a really good lay.
She’d like to keep her really good lay.
*See where I’m going with this?*
And THAT, ladies and gentlemen becomes the story.
Badass Assassin Anna goes and meets a guy at a bar, has insta-love with the guy, and then has a problem killing the guy.
Case: Closed.
The problem that *I* have with this book is that it could have been fucking awesome.
And it wasn’t.
Sidenote: the chemistry between Anna and Ben is painful.
Because there isn't any.

Ok what did I think of this book?
Well AMAZING! Of course! I wrote it!
If you want to read a story about a woman that is all kinds of kick arse and doesn't tolerate any shit, then this is the book for you.
But don't worry, there is also a very scrumptious man to get you all hot and flustered.
The story twists and turns, and just when you think there is no more BANG the roller coaster takes another corner!
I give me 5 Stars, cause frankly I think it rocks!

It started out really kick ass! What's not to love about a female assassin?
She may be a ruthless killer, but this has got to be the most conceited heroine ever. She takes the cake! Nonstop with how good she is and how she is the best with a gun. She also likes to tell you how gorgeous she is. And the whole insta-lust...not feeling it. A lot of repetitiveness too.
This had some potential, and worked for others, but for me...I'm out.

As the only child of a single father who is the police chief of the St. Cloud police department, Anna has had to learn to protect herself from a young age.
Then one day, (alot of) shit happens and and everything changes. With her ability to mask emotion and her skills of handling a weapon, Anna becomes arguably the world's best assassin's.
Known to everyone as Anna Moore, successful recruitment agent executive Anna lives a life of solitude and that's how she likes it. She is a lady who knows what she wants and knows how to get it. Her encounters with men are one night stands and meaningless until she meets Ben Pearson.
Ben Pearson is every woman's dream come true. He is good looking, HOT, a good cook, loving, good in bed, HOT, wholesome and did I mention HOT ;)
Ben changes everything and becomes the most complicated part of Anna's life in every way possible.
Ben has to be up there with the best of my leading males :) Seriously if I ever have a son, I'm calling him Ben!!!
There is romance, suspense, action and zero insecurity.
As the first novel of an inde author, Margaret has done a stellar job.
I can't wait read more, I highly recommend this book and have no doubt you'll enjoy it as much as I have.

Totally unique, will have you on a roller coaster with no stops!! Definitely one of those books that you pick up and just can't put down..
Filled with angst, action, romance, death, and a sassy mouthed assassin, shit I could sit here all day and list what this book has!! So take my word for it and start reading!!
What more can I say, Loved it!! Highly recommend!!

I am all for a good romance, but when action and suspense are involved, I dig right in!!!

This was a great story filled with action, suspense, drama, death, and some good loving!
Anna is one hell of a tough cookie and there is no one that can stand in the way of what she does best. She is a woman skilled in her trade and is willing to take down anyone that says otherwise. She had a bit of a rocky road leading into her adulthood, but is one hell of a fighter now.
Ben is the Chief of Police of St Cloud and a good guy all around. He has two sisters he loves and works to keep the bad guys out of his town. There is something about this guy that I have yet to uncover, but in time I hope to find out.

I absolutely loved this book!!!
If your searching for a book that's full of suspense, quite a bit of action, with a Heroine that's a Kick-Ass no nonsense chick..and as the author says a very scrumptious man to get you all hot and flustered..then look no further this book is for you!

2.5 Stars!
Hmm.....well this one definitely had a lot of potential. The storyline was unique and fresh. However, for me the execution just wasn't there. It just didn't quite all come together.
I liked seeing a badass heroine. But honestly I never really felt much of a connection to her or the story itself. It also had the whole insta-love thing going on.
Anna is an assassin. The best in the world. She doesn't work for anyone but herself. Hit 147 is a revenge kill. She is finally able to avenge the death of her father. She goes out to celebrate and meets Ben. Ben is connected to Anna in more ways then she can imagine. He becomes hit 149.
Again, I really liked the premise. I just didn't connect with the writing or the story. I didn't think the sex scenes were very hot either. I don't know.....something about it just didn't work for me.
At the end of the book, we are given a sneak peek at what I am guessing is the next book--which is possibly the same "chapter" from Ben's POV?!? At first I thought it was almost going to be a repeat of the book just from his POV but some things were thrown in that have left me questioning everything about what happened in Anna's book--especially with Ben. I'm probably maybe intrigued enough that I will check out the next book. Maybe.
I would say this ended on a cliffhanger off sorts. There is definitely more story to be told. I'd recommend this if you're looking for something different. It was a quick read.

Omg, I am in love... Anna is feisty, smart and smoking hot! Love the book, couldn't put it down... I love Ben... They're perfect together... What happens now? Is that it? I certainly hope there's more. I love all the action, the suspense... Everything! This book is smoking HOT!

Wow! I loved this book, what a bloody roller-coaster. I was hooked right from the start and I really didn't want it to end.
Anna's is a killer..Are killers born or are they created?
Anna is a strong, deadly, independent, arrogant at times woman with revenge and killing on her mind.
From the first time she held a gun she knew that she would always want it, need it..Shooting was always easy for her she became a star at the shooting range.Her aim was always on point.
"Mistake number one. There is no warning in this business. There is no second chances. Which is why, I was on top of my game.
There is no hesitation. No second chances. No doubts. No emotions. No feelings."
Her life is turned upside down at the age of 15 when two shady men become interested in her talent and end up destroying her only living family.She has to learn to survive by herself. In a world so cruel that its either kill or be killed.
"If I don't take out the target, I become the target."
What happens when things change? What happens when she meets a man she cant stop thinking about and then finds out that he is her next victim.
When Anna meets Ben sparks fly and things seem much more than a one night stand.She cant have that, she cant get close to him but it seems that life has other plans.
At the start of this book you meet a woman who is content in her life, she is a killer and she has embraced her lifestyle there is nothing amiss. At the end of this book you find out that she is much more human than she makes out to be, she wants and needs love as much as everyone else its just that she has been alone for so long and avoids attachments that she feels like she is numb to it all.
"I an untraceable, I am unidentifiable, I am a ghost.I choose to have no friends; I choose to live a life of isolation and solitude."
This book had everything I needed, it was hot, fast-paced, heart-racing, filled with suspense mystery and much more.All I can say is ..Wow you go girl..now give me book 2 NOW!:D
There were so many unexpected twists and turns I was never bored I felt like I was in an action movie!Oh and I loved Ben, he is amazing all the way through I hope we find out more about him and maybe some more from his POV. This book was in Anna's POV and it's awesome but I want more Ben as well!

Self-absorbed heroine that keep telling us how 'good' and 'awesome' she is. Once is enough, okay. Anna is a super assassin who is in the business since 15. She met this totally hot guy in a bar for a one night stand. End up finding out that he is a Chief Police of St. Cloud, the position previously hold by her dad. Intrigue much? At this point, I'm finding the plot get my curious.
The said police, named Ben had a hit on his head and Anna was hired to kill him. Only that she didn't really want to because he is such a 'good lay', I suppose? When she went to St. Cloud to scout him out, they accidentally met by chance and Ben seems to want to reunite with her. Okay, I have such a huge problem when Ben confessed his feelings for her, although Anna is just hard arse chick that he met in a bar. What is his problem?
There a scene at the restaurant that make me cringe. Anna confronted a waitress for ogling Ben, claiming he is her husband. This amused Ben very much. But after the dinner, when Ben want to spend the night with her, she said she needs time and bla bla bla. Crazy much?
The writing style of this book is too much telling and not much feeling, which I'm okay with it because this is just a novella. I wanted a quick and interesting read to spend my afternoon. But by half way through I just couldn't stand Anna, or Ben anymore.

There a scene at the restaurant that make me cringe. Anna confronted a waitress for ogling Ben, claiming he is her husband. This amused Ben very much. But after the dinner, when Ben want to spend the night with her, she said she needs time and bla bla bla. Crazy much?
The writing style of this book is too much telling and not much feeling, which I'm okay with it because this is just a novella. I wanted a quick and interesting read to spend my afternoon. But by half way through I just couldn't stand Anna, or Ben anymore.

DNF at 23%
This story sounded really intriguing, but the main reason that I struggled to completely get into this and continue reading was the main female character. Ugh, she was so full of herself, and conceited in a very unlikable way. She's supposed to be this badass assassin, that apparently was born already a made assassin. She kept telling us she was so good and the best, but meanwhile after meeting a guy for a couple of hours and having sex ONE time was already enough to make her doubt and nervous whether she would be able to do her next mission . I know I only read up to 23% and I thought she may've gotten better later on, but nope, I heard she's the same annoying through the end, which is why I decided to dnf it.

If you love action,suspense with a bit of romance & a strong leading female , then you have to read this book .this so far would have to be one of my best reads this year ,i can not belive this is Margarets first book ,it is such a well written,thought out story ,this held my attention the whole way through & consumed my thoughts the entire day & night i read it ,download the sample ,that is what i did first then i was hooked ,as i am sure others will be .Margaret is now one of my favourite authors & can not wait to read more

I'll confess ...... I bought this by accident. Amazons one click buy option has got me into trouble ... again. I was only meaning to download the sample and instead I did both :-, but I'm glad I did. It is a fast paced book that I couldn't put down I was only glad I wasn't working that week. I loved the story and the relationship that built between Ben and Anna and the final chapter in Ben's point of view was the icing on the cake. The only thing that I don't like is the fact that this is a series and I will wait for the next chapter. I only hope it wont take too long.

This book completely missed the mark. It claims that had a bad ass heroine, sure she might be an assassin but that doesn’t make her badass. She’s catty bitch towards other women. It was sad to see how she would call OW a slut (not in her face) and she would called someone plastic because she dared to ogled the magnificent male specimen. She became a pathetic weak wet noodle of mess. It was the saddest shit ever. She’s conceited, she might think she’s god gift to man. I got tired to read how beautiful she was, how men looked at her way when she entered a room. Normally I would love when a woman is confident but she was just too cocky.
And hero was a disgusting sexist pig. I peeked at the epilogue and he’s fantasizing how he got a bjs and how he enyoyed said bj. Yes this was before he met the heroine but that’s just disgusting how men see other women as sex toys!

Let me start off my saying this book has become one of my favorites. I freaking LOVED this story! I am so glad to have had a chance to read HiT149! I honestly was a little hesitant, thinking that it may not be 'for me' and now I find myself aching to find out what happens next!

God! I was starving for a book like this, where the female character is not only this cute girl with her problems and then here it comes the Knight in Shining armor to save her... Hell no...

I have to say I don't normally read books in this genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! I had so much trouble putting it down because I just had to find out what happened next. There are so many layers in this story with twists and turns to keep you guessing what would be on the next page. Anna is such a strong-willed and confident woman, it seems there is no limit to her capabilities. She not only can handle what life throws at her but she takes charge of it. Now Ben brings even more layers as well as intrigue to the book. Ben comes across as the ideal man that has it all, looks, stature, gorgeous, stability and did I mention HOT? But there's more to him than originally thought. Anna and Ben on their own handle their business perfectly fine, but together they face many questions and challenges. I for one, can not wait to read more of their journey!

Oh my goodness... AN ASSASSIN CHICK! I think I just died! I couldn't put this book down. One of the best stories I have read this year. I just can't even... Wow! Ok, so now that that's out of the way...
I loved the characters, but the plot and back story are what really got the story going! I'm so wrapped up in this story! Anna is an amazing character. Ben is her perfect counter...
And the ending? Are you kidding me? Cliff hanger! I loved the idea of a chick that is a bad ass assassin. Not only good, but the best. The girl with the golden aim. She is legend. Her past is sad but defining. Ben is still a mystery... I predict that He will have just as an intriguing past as this series progresses. I can't wait. I loved this read but I have a feeling this book is just the beginning of an epic series.

A good but not great read. I really liked the main character Anna, especially when she was in killer mode, she was a focused, professional career woman who was both feared and revered in a job normally dominated by men. Unfortunately she was the only character I liked because the other characters quickly began to annoy me severely as I continued to read. In particular the main male romance character Ben grew increasingly irritating as the story moved along, his continuing to refer to Anna as "Baby girl" or "Baby" infantilized a fascinating and compelling character and irked me greatly.

This book would make a great movie. A strong female lead character - girl power! Action packed with more twist and turns than Lombard St. This book is told from the POV of Anna - fiery, sexy, assassin. Eagerly awaiting the next chapter as many questions left unanswered and looks like it will be from The POV of Ben - Anna's love interest.

I have to start this review by saying that this book was as about as far fetched as they come. Not a thing about it was realistic. That being said, I still found myself liking it for the most part. I love a strong heroine and this certainly had that. Although nothing about the plot was feasible it still made for a fast paced read. The romance department left a bit to be desired. It had an overkill of the "insta-love" vibe. I'd still give this writer another shot though. I also appreciate it being offered as a freebie.

Oh this synopsis really intrigued me. A women assassin who has a bulls eye sniper shot. I loved Anna. She was fierce, smart, ruthless and yet one with a little conscience. Ben on the other hand really annoyed me. He was like a little puppy with love in his eyes. The insta-love didn't sit well me as well. Just an okay one.
