College sweethearts, sexy Jake McCall and beguiling innocent Catherine St. John had spent an intense, passionate yet tender year as lovers. Then fate and duty intervened, separating the couple....
...until the day Jake, now a driven and successful rancher, came face-to-face with his past...and their son! While Catie had lost none of her beauty and allure, time seemed to have hardened her heart to Jake. But the determined cowboy vowed to hold on to his son, and to do so he meant to have Catie in his bed and as his bride!
Hero opened his door to his son, a son he knew nothing about. He found out a woman he went to college with was pregnant around the time that he left, due to the death of his parents. When the heroine comes to collect her son, the hero demands that she stays. She falls in love with him, her son loves him but he doesn't tell her that he loves her, so she goes home. Only for the hero to turn up on her doorstep.
The book was boring as all get out. There were some good parts but very rarely. It was a waste of time to read.
Basically, I'm looking forward for Jake's story. But because I'm looking forward to it, the disappointment doubled.
Firstly, there's a lot thinking-using-loins instead of brain here. Instead of wasting 50% of the story doing that, the author better focus on developing the father and son relationship. Secondly, speaking of the son, I'm really pissed off on how the author put the son in the story without character. The son supposed to be the core of the story, instead, he looks like some misplaced random character put here and there throughout the story. And his appearance just for the sake of "just because.... " Thirdly, between the man and woman, I would say the woman had it worse than the man. But instead, the author put the woman problem so lightly as if it doesn't matter which irked me. Fourth, speaking of emotional turmoil, this is also placed in the plot randomly like some minor details. No elaboration. The biggest emotional turmoil in this story is how both mc wanted to control what under their pants...
The two star given is for the side characters. And based on the ratings here. I might as well abandon my plan to read about Lynn and Deke
