The tycoon and the tallchief The sexiest, wealthiest and most powerful of men wanted to marry financially needy Demi Tallchief. But she knew CEO Rafe Palladin thought he could just acquire her as a wife - and that his plan to woo and wed her hid a secret agenda. And though Demi dreamed of nights in Rafe's arms, she had a few conditions for the takeover tycoon...
Beautiful, independent Demi was in for a big surprise. Because Rafe was a hundred percent committed to meeting her interesting demands. In fact, he was sure she would agree to become Mrs Palladin in mere days! Well, ninety-nine percent sure...
I just love this Tallchief series. The heroes are delightfully alpha, but also caring and loving. The heroines are fairly stubborn, but likeable. It was very cool how Ms. London threaded the Tallchief series into the Palladin books. You would think that there would be no HEA since that Palladin's father is the one responsible for the Tallchiefs' orphaned status, but love does conquer all. I like how Rafe fell deep for Demi with absolutely no intention initially, and moved mountains to get her. These books remind me of the fun of reading a romance and getting my expectations met and not getting freaked out by weird sex and uber-modern sexual politics. Nicely sweet but steamy love scenes on offer (just what I prefer). Another aspect I like about this series (and Cait London's writing in general) is that her characters are quirky and distinct from the generic hero and heroine formula (in my opinion). She does a great job of showing small town life with all its pluses and minuses, and the blessing that family is, including that family is not restricted to those of your blood. If you can find copies of the Tallchief books, you should definitely scoop them up.
Loved Rafe, alpha male through and through but soft where it counts. Demi I found a bit bland and antagonistic. How she could run a sensuality retreat with no knowledge was a bit weird. Okay going forward but not at the start. Loved the Tallchief women popping in to help and the men coming to collect them. Love how the Palladin boys are getting interwoven into the Tallchief clan. Their father’s actions should not reflect on them. Rafe, like his two brothers has made himself into a good man, with Mamie’s support and guidance but like his brothers, has his doubts due to looking very much like their abusive father. I bought this book in paperback 20 years ago and still have it to this day. This series of books has moved through many houses and countries with me. Cannot wait to have them all in ebook format for easier rereading.
