A Hearts On Fire Review

THREE STARS--"Knot in Your String" is about a punk-pop emo rock star Wyatt who has been down in the dumps. His first album a success and his label wants the second album out like yesterday. Only there is a problem...Wyatt's blocked. He can see the music he wants to create but he can't get to the point of creating.

Why? Because he's in love,of course. With fellow musician/ writer Bryce, who he believes is straight.

Aw, the angst-y emo boy just wants to be loved. He's all deep and emotional. I'd say he's in need of a hug but he'd probably think he was too cool for it. But he gets feelings relief in the form of Bryce, his secret crush.

This story is less than twenty pages, so how do you think these two guys solve this emo twink's conundrum? With sex, of course. Cherry popping sex (Bryce's apt description) That's right one of these men is a virgin. After a dozen or so "baby's" and a resolutory "I love you", you'd think of these men finally will head to that pink-purple-black-dyed hair bang of love in the sky, right?

*high-pitched* Nope.

There's an unnecessary fight that is stretched out for a month! with no communication other than a few cold text messages. (Bryce, I agree texts can be so impersonal and it's taking over for a lot of lazy asses having actual conversations) After weak reiteration of their non communication, the two men communicate and realize...they are in love.

Cute. I mostly liked the idea of the story.

Will I read more from this author? Uh-huh. The ideas are there.
