If you had the ability to heal with just one touch, the capability to absorb other’s pain by making it your own, would you do it?

The gratifying feeling she gets from helping others intoxicates Ally; the glowing warmth within constantly simmers, incessant on bursting free. Ally was born to do this, but how much more damage can her body take?

Theo finds himself getting close to the girl that continues to inflict pain on herself. When he discovers her secret, his overwhelming concern drives him to do everything in his power to prevent Ally from getting hurt, no matter how lovely her intentions are.

Theo also has secrets and will take any measure to keep them hidden from the girl he is falling in love with. He knows better than to let her get too close. She can never find out the information he conceals because she cannot help him anyway.

I was given the honor of beta reading this book and let me tell you, Jessica is a natural. Not only did she write an incredible story but this is her debut novel and she rites like a pro. Her thoughts were well planned out and the story is absolutely beautiful. I adore this girl and cannot wait for you to have the chance to read all about Theo and Ally. I'm positive you will fall in love with these characters as quickly as I did.

What would you do if you had the power to take peoples pain away?

What if you couldn't stop yourself from healing people?

This all seems too good to be true right?

That's because it is..here's the catch..

To heal them you absorb their pain by making it your own..

Now would you still do it?

Ally can heal people but how much damage can her body take? Since Ally healed someone as a child her mum has stopped her from going out, trying to protect her from herself and media. They have been moving around a lot and have finally settled down..unless someone else finds out Ally's secret and they have to take off again. She is older now and needs to know how to live without outside her house, she can't always stay inside.

“"I was born to do this, I want to do this, and I can handle the pain. I will live; I am used to it by now. It is such a gratifying feeling to be able to take away someone else's pain for them. To be honest, I am somewhat addicted."

As she step outside she meets Theo. He is just lovely, kind, sweet and considerate. As soon as they see each other there is an instant connection. The closer he gets to Ally the harder hiding her secret becomes. What will happen when someone is hurt and she has to heal them? She can't stop herself..will her life be turned upside down by media attention?

Ally trusts Theo, he wouldn't hurt her, he wouldn't disclose her secret..
Theo had a painful past causing him to feel alone and scared and now he has found his angel, someone who takes his pain away not with her gift but with her heart. Ally is sweet, innocent and selfless. She loves to give and finds happiness in healing and making other better.

Things change dramatically when Theo gets ill and he won't let her heal him. He pushes her away because he can't see her in pain, he cant let her suffer..

“I allow myself to get lost in the love I see in his eyes because looking anywhere else hurts too damn much.”

A funny, unexpected, story of love, sacrifice and soul mates..
I really enjoyed this book the twists and sacrifices I just never expected it.I am so glad it was a HEA and that everything came together. Theo's brother was funny hah! Loved all the characters :)
I was captivated by this story and I finished it all in one day I just had to finish!

Ally isn't your average teenage girl. She quickly learned at a young age that she has an exceptional ability to relieve the pain of others by absorbing the pain herself. Not only can she heal people - but she feels compelled to do it and gratified by it. In order to avoid becoming a science experiment Ally's mother shelters her daughter. She is home schooled and rarely leaves the house. Taking a walk to the park is the most exciting thing she has done in years. While at the park Ally meets Theo, a young man with a few secrets of his own. The two are immediately drawn to each other and neither can deny the attraction. Theo is wise beyond his years. He is loving, thoughtful, and gorgeous inside and out.

To say that I was blown away by this novel was an understatement. Don't dismiss this novel as an insta-love paranormal romance. It is so much more than that. Each word flows beautifully. Each sentence a treasure. The highlighter worked overtime on my ereader. It hasn't seen this much action since I read Hopeless by Colleen Hoover. The writing is poetic - it grabbed me from the first page and wrapped around my heart. This is a novel stayed with me long after I turned the last page. I felt every emotion right along with Ally, Theo, and their families. The slow build up of the story culminates in a slew of tears. Jessica Louise breaks your heart and puts it back to together again with a big twist.

If you are new to reading paranormal romance this would be a good start for you. There are very little paranormal elements. There is just enough to create a unique story bursting with emotion. This is a YA novel appropriate for teens.

If you loved Hopeless by Colleen Hoover and Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski you are sure to love this gem! Welcome to the favorites folder Jessica Louise!

"I was born to do this, I want to do this, and I can handle the pain. I will live; I am used to it by now. It is such a gratifying feeling to be able to take away someone else's pain for them. To be honest, I am somewhat addicted."

"Closing my eyes, I relax and sink back into the grass. I feel the occasional autumn leaf float by as it falls to the ground. My body goes lax as I soak in the peaceful surroundings. I may have assured to Mom that this would be uneventful, but to me, this is the most exciting thing that I have done all year. No, make that the last ten years."

"Live life to the fullest, love in every moment like it is your last, never give up hope, and never hold back"

As a debut novel from Jessica Louise, I found this book to be wonderful. The premise for it is very unique, not one you ordinarily see. She has the ability to heal using her hands, but with a painful consequence not usually seen. Ally doesn't have a bad bone in her body, she is truly compelled to help anyone and everyone if they are hurt and within close enough proximity to her.
Due to her ability, her mom has kept her at home, secluded away from everything and everyone. Ally's mom has finally given her some freedom, and with this newfound freedom she takes off, walking around the area, headed to the park where she sees Theo. She can't take her eyes off him, and he is enthralled with her.
Even though this is the first boy she has truly laid eyes on, let alone flirted with, she feels so much for him, falls in love.
“I allow myself to get lost in the love I see in his eyes because looking anywhere else hurts too damn much.” –Ally
Theo has finally found his angel, someone to care about, despite his past, and his illness. He refuses to let her help him.
“How is it possible that the most caring, loving and selfless person on the planet is gifted with something that can only bring her pain?” –Theo
The love between these two develops pretty quickly, which can be kind of cheesy but it works for the story, especially since Ally has been secluded most of her life. I loved every bit of this book, and couldn't put it down. I will be looking for more from Miss. Louise.

This book caught my attention because it was like nothing
I've read lately. The premise is creative. Ally was born with an unexplainable gift. She can heal people with just the touch of her hands. However, when she does this, she takes their pain, causing her body damage. She hasn't learned how to control the urge to help everyone to her detriment.

She is quite reclusive since she has been home schooled her whole life and has moved from city to city to avoid being outed by people who have witnessed her gift of healing. When she meets Theo at the park, there is an instant connection. I have to say the dialogue between these two characters was quite corney, but I guess with them being so young it was appropriate and worked. I found myself laughing quite a few times at their silliness.

After Theo witnesses Ally's healing powers, he vows to keep her safe. He will not let her hurt herself any longer.

Theo is keeping a secret himself that he does not want Ally to find out, but how can he keep it a secret?

If you had the chance to save someones life at the risk of your own would you? Ally battles this everyday and the biggest risk is just ahead.

Find out what happens in Angel Of Mine.

4 1/2 Amazing stars from me ! What a beautiful love story with a very unique twist ! This wonderful book was about selflessness, love, and what extremes you would go to for someone you love ! "Live life to the fullest, love in every moment like it is your last, never give up hope, and never hold back " one of my favorite lines in the whole book ! There was a lot of humor between the different character which I enjoyed, "Why does she inspire such corny thoughts to rush from my brain and escape via my big, stupid mouth?" ! Love it ! I would highly recommend this book to friends ! I can't wait to see what else Jessica Louise writes !

I just love this debut book from Jessica Louise! The characters really melted my heart. Jessica's writing was remarkable and the story was truly perfect. I loved that it took place is Australia and there was a Koala scene in it.
Ally is given an amazing gift that makes her different from everyone else and in turn has stayed away from other people. She heads out for a walk and sees the gorgeous Theo. Theo is a sweet and funny and they instantly have a great friendship. It blossoms into more and it just so sweet!
You need to pick up this book and fall in love with Ally and Theo!

The story of Ally and Theo is beautiful and the writing is wonderful.
Parts of the book were happy some were sad but the book as a whole is amazing. This story is so cute and I loved every minute of it. This is a story lots of people should read. I totally recommend it.

Don't want to give much away since the book isn't out yet.

Interesting storyline, definitely had potential, but did not like the writing in certain parts (unrealistically corny in a lot of them), and a lot of the time I just felt a bit disconnected from the minds of the characters. Also the random twist at the end was just that.. random.

But that is just my opinion!

It was cheesy but so sweet at the same time. Theo and Ally were so perfect together and Ally was the most selfless character I've ever met.
It's a light, heart warming read with sob moments too.
Not the book of the century but certainly a very cute one.

I enjoy YA--even if I am about twenty-five years older than the genre's standard demographic. There's something endearing about getting to experience the world again via the sensibility of someone just learning how life works. ANGEL OF MINE, with it's paranormal edge and Australian location, seemed like it would offer a good evening's entertainment.

For the most part, I got what I wanted.

Ally is a likable young woman with a serious problem--she can heal people with a touch. The downside, beyond the fear of public exposure, is that she actually takes on the ailment or injury. This little twist makes for a fresh take on what might have been a tired story line. Ally's mother has kept her isolated for her own protection, but Ally is tired of hiding. So, given a little freedom, she goes to the park and meets Theo, handsome young man with a secret. He and Ally connect right away. Even learning of her true nature doesn't put him off, though he is frustrated by her compulsion to help people even when it puts her at terrible risk. This compulsion is magnified when it becomes clear to Ally that Theo has a serious medical problem. I don't want to spoil it by giving too much detail...Let's just say she wants to heal him, but it would likely kill her.

The first half of the book is far more effective than the second half. The author does a good job drawing her characters and bringing them together. However, things go a little haywire once Ally makes her pivotal decision. Instead of this leading to the most powerful scenes in the book--two families coming together to support and hopefully save their children--we get a lot of fluff about day spas and "making the most of every moment." I mean, I got the author's message, but there are some moments that are too mundane to warrant page time in a relatively short romance. It is at this point also when Theo loses his edge as the romantic lead. Even when we are in his point of view (the p.o.v. alternates between Ally and Theo), it's clear that we're reading the words of a female writer.

In general, I find that alternating points-of-view weaken both characters and narratives as a whole. It's hard to really get emotionally invested in a character when you are yanked out of his or her head every five or six pages.

Also, the author ends the book with an epilogue that strained my "suspension of disbelief" (the term for the reader accepting the author's fictional world as real) way past its natural endurance. It is not believable, and it completely throws off the story arc.

Finally, the author provides a disclaimer noting that the book takes place in Australia and uses Australian English. This was a selling point for me. But there isn't as much specifically Australian flavor as I'd hoped for. Vegemite on toast is about it.

Overall, ANGEL OF MINE earned its four stars through its complex characters and ambitious plotting. While it wobbles a bit in places, I look forward to reading future work by this author and seeing how her skills develop.

First of all, I’m sending out cover love for this book. It is really pretty. The tone and colour are gorgeous, and look at those eyes!

Favourite lines:

“How is it possible that the most caring, loving and selfless person on the planet is gifted with something that can only bring her pain?” –Theo

“I allow myself to get lost in the love I see in his eyes because looking anywhere else hurts too damn much.” –Ally

The premise of Angel of Mine is quite unique, and one I have never come across before. Ally has the ability to take people’s pain away. She can heal them instantly, whether it’s a scraped knee or a broken arm—pretty awesome, right? Well, there’s a catch. Ally is compelled to help, she almost has no control over the urge, and whatever happens to the person Ally is helping, it’s transferred to her. She ends up with all the pain.

Because of her ability, Ally has been sheltered pretty much her entire life by her over protective and paranoid mother. Each time she helps someone and there are witnesses, they run. That is, until Ally meets Theo.

The book is told in multiple POV via Ally and Theo. Ally and Theo’s relationship develops relatively quickly, and it’s pretty cheesy at times, but it is a teen romance so I guess it can be expected. There’s the instant physical attraction between them, but they don’t jump in feet first. They do take some time to get to know each other, although neither party is completely honest with the other. At times Theo was a little possessive of Ally, but I liked the way they fitted together.

I admit it took me a little while to get into this book. I don’t think it was the book’s fault, it was probably a combination of time, my work load, and a whole lot of other factors. At times I got frustrated with the dialogue as it seemed a little forced and unnatural, and Theo’s voice was not as strong as Ally’s. But, once I hit the half way mark the story started to pick up. Theo has a secret that I won’t spoil for you, but it sends him and Ally on a roller-coaster ride of emotions. Despite the great pick up in pace in the middle of the book, I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending. We do get a HEA, but it was all a little too good to be true, like a fairytale ending.

Overall, I enjoyed Angel of Mine but there were a few niggly things that didn’t quite work for me. As a debut from a self-published author, I think it’s a great start, and I guess things can only get better from here. I’m looking forward to reading more from Jessica Louise.

Due to language and some situations, I recommend this for upper YA and NA readers.

This is going to be a hard one to review because I really don't want to give anything away. Let me start by saying that I have only read a few paranormal books over the years. This is one genre that I'm typically not drawn to. Actually, I'm not real sure this is even how I would classify this one, it was more YA than anything else. Regardless of the genre this book was amazing and it will be the reason I start branching out when choosing books to read.

Angel of Mine is everything I look for in a book. Great plot, character development and creativity. When I first started I had no idea what to expect. Of course I had read the synopsis but I had no clue what I was getting myself into. It didn’t matter though because after the first chapter I was so engrossed in the story I had to know what was going to happen.

It begins with Ally. She is about turn 18 and she has been sheltered most of her life by her mother. At an early age they discovered that Ally had a special gift to heal people with her hands. The only problem is Ally takes over the pain she takes away. Her mother was worried about her well being and kept her from everyone to keep her safe once people became aware of her gift. They have moved several times over the years but it is finally time to set Ally free. One of the first days she is out in public she lays her eyes on Theo and is immediately drawn to him.

Theo is a gorgeous young man who is new to the area and once he sees Ally he has to get to know her better. They begin to spend time together but Ally can’t control herself when she sees someone in pain and her secret is out there again. Theo does everything in his power to keep her safe but he has secrets himself that may destroy them both. He would do anything for Ally even walk away to keep her safe. They maybe young but they experience some grown up issues along the way.

“The impact you have made on my world, will forever leave a mark. No matter how hard I try, even if I had eternity, it still wouldn’t be enough time to show you just how much you mean to me.”

Pick up this book to see what happens to this beautiful couple you won’t regret it. This one had me laughing and in tears several times. I was truly touched by this book and I look forward to reading more from this talented author.

I absolutely loved this book so much! I was hooked from page one and couldn’t put my kindle down until I was done.

Ally has the gift of healing and it would be considered a gift if not for the repercussions her body suffers when she uses it. So to protect Ally her mom has kept her pretty much isolated her whole life. But as she gets older her mom sees just how lonely Ally is so she gives her a little freedom which Ally gladly accepts. But on her very first outing she goes to the park and sees Theo playing soccer with another guy and she is instantly drawn to him. This of course leads to Ally going to the park everyday just to watch Theo but what she doesn’t realize is that Theo has noticed her also. But one chance encounter with him could ruin the freedom Ally has just gained when she heals somebody in front of him. But when Theo doesn’t go running the opposite way Ally only grows more found of him and then starts to fall in love with him. But Theo has a secret he is keeping from Ally that could keep them apart forever especially with her healing powers so Theo tries to keep her out of harm’s way but with matters of the heart the brain doesn’t always win out over love.

As I said earlier I loved this book. I literally read it in one sitting. I was in awe over Ally’s power to heal and the fact that even though her body took a beating over using it she never once thought not to use her ability. She has definitely become one of my top five heroines this year. And Theo I really have no words for him except he is just swoon worthy. He loves Ally so much and wants nothing more than to keep her safe even when it makes her mad that he hinders her ability at times but his heart is in the right place.

I will say without giving too much away that when Ally finds out Theo’s secret my heart breaks for the both of them and what Ally does next literally took my breath away. But if you want to know if love can really conquer everything than you will need to read Angel of Mine as I don’t do spoilers. 5/5

If I would have had an emotional meter stamped on my forehead you would of seen it go off through out the reading of this book. I normally do not choose to often a book when it's character or more are really young but liked the line on this one so gave it a shot.Very deep opening by Ally which will pull on a heart string and you can relate her feelings at the time because regardless of age we have all felt them at one point or another. She meets Theo and at the right time I would say in her life. The consistent point of view set up for each keeps you there with each at a good pace. The ups and downs of a budding romance depicted so sweetly you go ahh. Tried putting myself in her place having her ability and boy doggie could not have done it. What a burden it would be but not so much to Ally. The emotions this writer wrings out of a reader is part of the joy of reading. Joy-with their young. Anxious-when she heals others. Sadness- when you learn about Theo just when it is going good. Proud-when he exhibits the ability to be steadfast even with an uncertain future occurs. Now Love-you fallen in love with them both by now and their journey with love filled with bittersweet at times. The sacrifices she makes for others which not many could do is extra ordinary and she makes the biggest one of all herself. Now be ripped in half not knowing what will happen next. Then joy jump and down kind because of the biggest sacrifice of all that is made for her and in essence for him also. Happy meter by now off the charts, and the ohhhs and ahhs you do on the everafter path they go and the sweetness reached in the end.Oh love is amazing or can be as seen by skill of the writing of this author depicted by these two through it all.

There were so many remarkable and wonderful things about this story, but sad in many ways too. Ally’s huge heart only wanted to help others, but it only ended up hurting her. Every time that Ally saw someone hurt, she would want to help. However, every time she took anyone’s pain away, the pain would be transferred to her.

Ally lives with her mother. When Ally would help someone, people would start asking questions to avoid questions and speculations from others. Since they frequently have to move, Ally’s mother decides it would be best to just home school Ally and keep her inside where she is safe and not tempted to “help” others. Until one day, Ally’s mother decides that Ally is old enough to know the damage it can cause her if she continues to help. So Ally starts by going to a park where she meets Theo, who she cannot help but feel attracted to.

The story is very interesting and unique. At first I thought Ally’s attraction and thoughts about Theo were very immature. However, I had to look at what her circumstances have been for many years. Her mother had secluded her from the outside world where she has had not interaction with either girls or boys. Still I felt like some of Theo and Ally’s thoughts felt silly and awkward.
At times it was hard for me to connect.

Theo is understanding and lovable just as Ally. However, later we learn more about Theo and his secret. I don’t want to say more since there is a twist.
Overall, it was an okay read which closed well.

I love when I receive a review request from a new author. I love it even more when their debut book is this good!!

I love the premise for the story. If you had the power to heal others but had to absorb their pain would you? Ally and Theo's story was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. Ally is an amazing and selfless character whose had to grow up sheltered and alone. Theo is a great guy whose had to deal with his own secrets and isolation for the past two years. When they meet it's an instant attraction and you immediately get drawn into their journey. I admit some of the dialogue was a little cheesy/corny but it worked for the story and characters.

When Theo's secret was revealed it was a bit more than I was expecting and it pretty much gutted me. Then when Ally makes the decision to try to fix it and what happens from there just got me all kinds of emotional. As I read I was trying to figure out just exactly how things would get better but I can honestly say I didn't see the ending coming. It was a good twist full of even more heartbreak.

I will say that the epilogue felt a little bit out there for just the first paragraph or so but I really do love how it ended.

All in all I'm glad that the author contacted me and that I had the chance to read this story. What a great debut!

This was a great read—refreshing, where the romance wasn’t at a fast pace.

If you could have a special power what would it be? I have thought of a few over the years but never thought of the circumstances that follow that special power. In “Angel of Mine” Ally has a special power of healing. Which is great, but you can’t heal everyone.

With this power her mom hides her away until she is in her late teens. Ally ventures out and meets Theo. They become fast friends and enjoy each other’s company. But what they don’t know about each other is they both have a secret.

Although Theo finds out what Ally’s is, he doesn’t tell her his secret. This tore my heart. I can understand why he didn’t want to tell her. Ally being the stubborn person she is finds out and is hell bent on helping Theo.

Their romance was fresh, young and the author was not in a hurry to take it to the next step. Theo loved Ally and would do anything for her. I liked the storyline and how it ended. I laughed and I cried.

Many answers were answered for Ally that she didn’t understand. I want to say so much more but I don’t want to give away too much. Does Ally and Theo’s love last past their secrets? What is Theo’s secret? Did they both get their Happy Ever After? You need to read Angel Of Mine to find out. I look forward to reading more books by Jessica.

My Thoughts
This was a great debut novel. I'm new to the New Adult genre and this was a good book to introduce me. It is unique and heartfelt. Allie's power has a twist I've never read of before and it makes for a more dramatic situation. The new freedom Allie has is exciting to explore especially when she notices and meets Theo. Theo has a traumatic past that he keeps from Allie. You can feel the instant attraction between these two and the new journey they take will leave you breathless. Allie is an amazingly fearless young woman who is determined to help anyone she can, and when Theo becomes ill, there is no way she can stand aside and let him suffer. Theo refuses to let Allie take his pain because of the love he has for her yet his choice is taken from him. It is an extremely emotional ride these two take along with their families. I fell in love with these two characters and the love they had for each other. The sacrifice someone who loves so deeply is willing to do for another shines through in this novel. It left me smiling and happy yet brought tears to my eyes. Jessica Louse gives us a love story that defines the true definition of love between two people. This is a not to be missed novel that will leave you wanting more. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a fantastic love story.

This was a really sweet love story with just a bit of paranormal thrown in. I have never read anything like this book so it was a nice change of pace. I was wrapped up in what was going to happen to Theo and Ally and had to keep reading to find out how things worked out.

Theo was a great leading male. Like Ally says in the book, he’s right out of a romance novel! Hot body, killer looks, a great personality, and so sweet!! He will definitely melt your heart. He is so protective of Ally, especially from herself.

Ally has been homeschooled and locked up in her house by her mother in an effort to keep her safe from everyone that would take advantage of her. When she meets Theo, she is shy and naïve and only has her love of romance books and movies to guide her. I found her very endearing and selfless. There were a few times I found myself thinking “stop doing this to yourself” right along with Theo and her mom but also understanding her desire to help people in need.

This was a very interesting take on paranormal ability. It wasn’t flashy and you didn’t get thrown into another “world.” It was just a normal everyday life with this girl who happens to be able to heal people and it worked great. I enjoyed the book!

Ally is given a gift. She can heal the physical pain in others, but then the pain is transferred to her and she must deal with it.Her mother has been afraid of Ally's ability her whole life, but has been letting her grow up and into her own, and own her own gift and pains.

It was a cute story up until about 34%, then I stopped. Ability to heal, but when Theo calls her his girlfriend all she can think about is the G word. He picks her up caveman style and throws her over his shoulder to "protect her" and not let her heal their neighbor when he's hurt. WTF?? #1 Any guy did that to me I'd not heal him, I'd HURT him, and #2 Ally is given a gift of healing. If I had a gift *I* would decide whether or not to use it. That's why it's MY gift. What IS it with cavemen in books lately?! This is where I stopped reading. It's a shame it went here b/c I'd have liked to know how Ally continued to deal with this kind of gift but this kind of mentality is a major turn off for me.

Insta-love, not my thing
Then the epilogue. Really? She is a movie star and in 3 yrs he has graduated from college, moved up in his firm, and has now opened his own company all by the age of what 23???? Total fairytale.

3 stars for the idea this book was trying to get across.
