Garry has written a powerful poetry book that takes the reader on a ride of their life. Just like the title suggests Garry has gone "Full Throttle" when it comes to his motorcycle riding, his life and the love of his life Terri. His writing captures your heart and take you on a trip down lovers lane as he writes so passionately. Live, Love and ride Garry, Garry ride. A must read for the all and especially poetry lovers out there.

I typically don't get into poetry much — in fact the last poetry book I read was 'In Square Orbit' by Edward Kaulfuss, which probably indicates the infrequency with which I attack such material. However, Chappell's 'Full Throttle' caught my eye through its promise of poetry served 'straight up, like a shot of whisky'. So that got my attention but, furthermore, FT has served very well to rekindle my interest in verse.

Gary Chappell has an intriguing perspective on life, the universe and everything. The poems are indeed blunt and all the better for it, however this is not to deny them their individual wonder and beauty. This poet's real gift is the amount of vivid imagery he can conjure versus the economy of his words, which means that the reader seems to get a lot more out of Chappell's material than the author appears to have put in. In a single phrase, then, 'thought provoking'. Let these words plunge their roots deeply into the fertile soil of your imagination and your harvest will be plentiful.

Insights into the fabric of our world at all levels abound, with a particular leaning toward life on the Canadian prairies, whether touring them on a motorcycle or growing up surrounded by their spectacle. Both the scenery and the literature have a beauty all their own, and I for one found myself immersed. Diversity of subject gives 'Full Throttle' a panoply of variety which is refreshing and at times even something of a surprise. But — reader beware — some of the language used and concepts addressed may preclude younger readers. Like I said; blunt.

I thoroughly enjoyed 'Full Throttle' and would recommend it in a heartbeat. I eagerly look forward to Chappell's next outing with great anticipation.

Not a typical poetry book by any means! Much like the cover suggests, the book takes the reader on a trip through Chappell's fabulous mind and soul. Through vivid imagery, sharp wit, and snappy lines, we are taken on a journey through growing up and growing wise and all the hard lessons in-between, all told through a bike-riding lover's point of view. Watch for the road sign poem - it's destined to become a classic!
