This book is my favorite so far. I love that Harriet got her HEA. I was excited for her backstory and I love that she helped other women that found themselves in abusive marriages. I am kinda of wondering though since when the book ended she wasn't doing her mail order bride business how the series is going to keep going. I guess I will have to read the next book and find out. I also need to read the Suitors of Seattle Series to see what happens to Harriet and Max's 8 nieces. Great read!

Mail Order Match Maker is book 7 in this series and it is definietly a new favorite. Harriett is the young woman who started the Mail Order Brides agency. She is a young widow with lots of secrets that see only shares with her butler Higgins. When Harriett receives a letter from a man in Seattle she is immediately intrigued and keeps the letter for herself and for the next two years she corresponds with him. I loved Harriett she was such a wonderful woman but she was afraid to marry again after the horrors she experienced at the hands of her dead husband. When she finally agrees that it's time to marry Max I loved how attentive he was to her and how loving right from the beginning. He is so different from her first husband she is very unsure in the beginning but as time passes she bloosoms by his side. I loved her bond with Higgins although this is an issue to Max. He will have to work on his jealousy but when he's told the whole story he will work through that jealous and understand it all. I loved Harriett getting her HEA and I look forward to her nieces getting their's.

Needed a trigger warning.
Was a good story but serious topic and lacking in the romance department more than id like. More depressing and angering with such a serious topic more than youd expect or want from a romance mail order bride book. I obviously wasnt expecting sunshine and flowers although i wouldnt complain and i know this was an important story to tell and done well and certainly i had a general idea from other MOB books id read in this series what would entail in harriets story but i didnt think itd be quite do vile or graphic or just horrible really. So yeah really couldve used a trigger warning or ten. Certainly needed some more romance or lightheartedness to balance it out. I enjoyed the father daughter scenes more than the husband and wife scenes so idk i just think that she deserved a better romance and that if youd been writing someone for 2 years that surely the relationship would be idk better? More understanding or at the very least not whatever that was. There wasnt any chemistry the dude didnt seem to have much of a personality or any real conversation with harriet besides serious or angry ones or he was sex sex sex there was no inbetween in was pouty mcbroodface i dont want my wife working or having focus on anyone but me but i wont let her do anything but have sex with me and the rhings she does i dont take much interest in unless of course shes telling them to someone else then i get jealous and angry pffft. Man child. Ifk i feel harriet deserved better. Far better. He seemed like higgins initial first impression what was it arrogant? Yeah agreed higgins honestly id have rather her marry higgins long lost younger brother or cousin or son or someone that ould treat her like the princess she deserved to be the first time round. Rather than a bed buddy and an ego boost. Ahhh i wanted to love this book so much and it was well written the serious side at least but like at the end od the day its a romance book so i have to judge it on what i read it for. And it was lacking severely. I had hoped for more affection or intimacy it was cute he kissed her scar but idk leg massge in the bath making her some sort of support to make her walking easier i mean even a gesture besides i love your body let me drag you to the closest surface and a non broody conversation something deep or sweet like discussing future plans or chilshood memories shared or even his parents coming over i mean he can afford them coming if they cant i think it wouldve been nice she wants to continue helping women but he wont let her make money from it cause itd be an afront to his manhood like she could donate that money? Shes got an established business and a bunch of men looking for wives in her area she could use any money gained to support her charity like im sorry but i just dont get this and im annoyed ill no doubt have to deal with this moron when i attempt to read seattle suitors or whatever. Im glad shell be matchmaking her nieces but idk if itll be worth it given the taste we got with rose i mean... wow.

Reviewed at Historically Romantic

I’ve been looking forward to Harriet’s full story, and Mail Order Match Maker certainly delivered a powerful story. This is a story of transitions for Harriet, Higgins, Max and even in some ways for the readers as well. I do have to admit that Max had to prove himself to me from the start. He was very much as Higgins described him as an arrogant man… especially when he took a written message from Higgins’ hand and without an acknowledgement or thank you simply closed the door in his face as if he were nothing. No, that did not set well with me at all. So Max’s arrogance and jealousy played a major part in my reactions to him.

There has been a closeness between Harriet and Higgins that was apparent from the very beginning of this series. There was history there between them, and a connection that held love but not the romantic kind. Friendship, confidant, perhaps even a father/daughter affection – but there was never anything that Max had the right to be jealous over. Yes, Harriet did take time to tell Max her entire story. She’s had no reason to trust easily, especially now knowing about her first marriage. The contrasts between Max and Arthur are made very clear. And Harriet’s reactions are sometimes so innocent for a married woman that there is a sadness for her when reading about her newly discovered love for this man.

Max’s sister and his eight nieces were a delight, and the subject of the Suitors of Seattle series. It would be very easy to talk more about this story, but I fear I’ll give way spoilers if I do. Let’s simply say that Mail Order Match Maker answers our questions and opens up a new future for one beloved matchmaker. If you love Western Historical Romance, then you’ll enjoy this story and the entire Brides of Beckham series.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Harriett Long owned the Mail Order Bride Agency that found husbands for desperate women. She prayed she was sending them to good men, but told them to write her if they hit them, and she would send them a ticket and money to return. So far none had taken her up on the offer. All were happy, except Harriett.

Married at age 16 to a handsome banker, she thought she made a good marriage till her wedding night. Arthur Long accused her of wrong doings from her wedding gown to talking to a childhood male friend. He slapped and beat her with a belt. Harriet assumed he was right, and took on guilt and shame.

The butler Higgins was watching, vowing to intervene if he threatened her life. Harriett was five months pregnant, when Arthur was beating her on the second floor, as Arthur pushed her down the stairs, Higgins stopped her descent, and aim a rifle at her husband shooting him dead.

Higgins continued to serve Harriett. As she started the bride agency, he would investigate the husbands as best he could. Most were from out west and too far for him. Harriett also starting corresponding with a man in Washington state who owned a lumber company. In the course of two years she fell in love with him, but was still fearful. She accepted his proposal, then sent Higgins two weeks early to investigate him. Max was a good man.

Sweet book a Max calms all her fears, yet wonders about the close relationship between Harriett and butler Higgins. Humor is added by Max’s 7 nieces named for flowers.

An enjoyable escape.

I'm a little confused as to why this received a 4, I had to stop reading it, it was just boring. The writing was awkward and stilted, there really wasn't any chemistry between Harriet and Max but there were a lot of sex scenes that didn't seem natural. They seemed to be randomly placed to me, like oh let's throw in sex right here. Because of the fact that there wasn't any back story to Max I was unable to relate to him and found him to be too insecure. I thought he should've been more understanding about Harriet's relationship with Her butler. His jealousy of their relationship was never ending. Too often Harriet would talk to Higgins about something, and Max would get jealous. This book was just too lacking.

This book is about the matchmaker for the Bride of Beckham. We learn more about Harriet as she moves out to Seattle to marry Max. We learn about her first marriage and the cause of her limp. This book was very good and I highly recommend it if you are a fan of Kirsten Osbourne and/or love mail order bride stories.

After reading this entire series, I was happy to see that Harriet finally embarked on her own mail order adventure and found happiness with a better man. Throughout this series, we have gotten glimpses of the horror that she faced when she was barely more than a child and a bride to boot. She was so young when she married that she really did not know what to do to defend herself. So now, to finally see her get her “happy ever after,” it was rewarding.

My only issue with this book has been a steadily growing issue with all of the books. There were blatant errors in the text that could have and should have been caught among the many steps of preparing the book for publication, and somehow, they were missed. I could have overlooked these issues except that it causes confusion a few times, which made me have to go back and reread parts to figure out what was going on. So, I am only able to give this book four out of five stars.

The matchmaker finds a match

In the previous books in this series Harriet is the matchmaker for Beckham brides. She saved the first letter from a groom she had received and has corresponded with him for two years before deciding to move to Seattle to wed. She takes her butler Higgins along.

I like the way that this novel replays bits of the previous stories from Harriet's POV. We have learned a bit of her story as we have read through the series but now we learn the whole terrible truth.

I have noticed that the editing quality has gone down as the series progresses. The blatant error in this book occurs when Harriet and her lumberman husband take a trip. We learn that there are problems at a lumber camp near Tacoma, however they travel to Spokane to a different lumber camp. There are numerous instances of what look like spellcheck errors and bad transitions to ebook format.

Happiness

a wonderful story for the wonderful Harriet, I've so much wanted to know her story, find out how she became the owner of a mail order bride business and if she would get her happy ending....she's a loyal, caring, generous woman who always has others best interest at heart, but she has a heart breaking tale that has left her scarred and afraid....it was so wonderful to finally learn about Harriet, I smiled and cried with sadness and joy at her tale, we all know a woman like Harriet, I think this might be my favourite BOB book

Happy ever after for Harriet

Although each book in this series can stand alone, this book ties into all those that came before. There were always hints about Harriet's past and now we get her story. It also serves as an introduction to the Suitors of Seattle series. Just one of many quick and enjoyable reads.

I'm glad Harriet got her own HEA. This book explains why she was saying and doing things in the past books. As you got to know her in the other books you were cheering her on the whole way.
