Wow!! Can anyone say hidden gem. This book was excellent. I am so glad i decided to give it a try. At first i didn't know if I wanted to read it. There weren't many people who had read it so there weren't many reviews for my to base my decision on. I am so glad I decided to give it a chance. Not only was it about a hot rocker but it was a different kind of rocker book. It wasn't all hearts and flowers. This book deals with the very serious issue of drug and alcohol addiction. This serious content kept me hooked to the pages. I believe Ms. Biermann handled the topic really well.

I am so glad I gave this book a chance and hope others will as well. I can't wait for my arc of the next book!!! A must read.

Harvard law student Dylan Ackhart’s life turns into an episode of VH1’s “Behind the Music” as she almost gets trampled to death by crazed fans at concert. She is saved by rock God Jeremy Mason who stops his own show and sends help to peel Dylan off the ground. Dylan ends up backstage and meets her smoking hot savior. Sparks fly between the two and then burn out pretty fast. Dylan, who is fairly reserved, is quickly turned off by witnessing a back stage groupie orgy in the works. She thinks Jeremy must be a part of that scene and she doesn’t want any part of it. She takes off…but Jeremy hunts her down and they get to know each other. Dylan doesn’t know much about Jeremy except for what she has seen on TV or read in gossip rags. She learns that he has a long list of hits and an equally long list of problems with hardcore drugs and the law. The heart wants what the heart wants and she ends up getting caught up into a whirlwind romance. Dylan is desperate to immerse herself in all that is Harvard. On top of her studies and having a rock star boyfriend, the press is beating down her door, bitchy groupies are everywhere and then there is her friend Scott. Dylan knows Jeremy has issues…she knows he is broken… but does she really understand the extent? Is she going to destroy her lifelong dream while Jeremy lays down a whole lot of tracks on the road? Who is going to hit rock bottom first?

If love you angst filled bad boy rock star books…you have found a hidden gem. Sarah Biermann's first book Tracks cuts real deep into the underbelly of sex, drugs and rock and roll. This book unravels like a fast paced reality TV show. Tracks is some solid four-star Kindle Crack. Yes…there is a cliffhanger…but it’s not painful. I can’t wait for book two.

3.5 Stars.

WHAT DID I THINK: 3.5 out of 5 Stars:
This one is a hard one for me to rate since I picked up the book every chance I got, I wanted to read it. However, some parts of the story I just wanted to scream at both Dylan and Jeremy.

The characters’ behaviors were inconsistent. How could a smart girl after 3 days just fall weak to a guy who is obviously a drug addict and alcoholic?
It was not a easy book to read since it involved a beautiful, talented artist addicted to drugs and alcohol; so addicted that initially his shakes are assumptions that he is sick.

I was so upset and frustrated sometimes with not only Jeremy’s behavior but with Dylan’s; a smart girl who does not see the obvious. And it pained me to see her do these things only because she thought Jeremy would be happy. I was getting so upset with her. Jeremy loved her. However, was she doing these things because she was in love, her background, or her inexperience with relationships that she could not see what was in front of her? It was very interesting how everything was handled and it kept me interested. I did not know how things were going to end.

An interesting read. Books like these are great for discussion because I could see how people could look at Jeremy and Dylan at a different perspective.
A copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Evryone wants to read a story with a Rock Star in it. Everyone wants to be the girl that said rock star falls in love with. Sometimes though things get in the way. Other times you get subject to first hand what the life of a Rock Star can be like for real, Especially when that Rock star has Things he needs to work through in his life.

Enter Dylan Ackhart Harvard Law Student who moves to Boston with her Best friend Theresa to attend college. Dylan did not have the greatest childhood, with parents that cheated on each other all her life. Her Best friend is a hard core fan of Jeremy Mason and his band. They have tickets to go see his concert and Although Dylan really does not want to go she goes with her BF.

Once at the concert, (which they have front row seats) Dylan and Jeremy lock eyes. From there things get complicated. Dylan Gets trampled by the girls around her and Jeremy see’s this and gets the security guys to help her. From there Jeremy does all he can to get to know Dylan better.

Jeremy rock star, Singer, guitar player, Every Girls Dream guy, but this dream guy is hiding things. He has some serious issues going on and the closer him and Dylan get to each other the More Dylan suspects things are not all they should be with Jeremy. He is hiding something and it is something big from her.

As these two get closer so does the drama. Dylan is trying to get herself ready for college and now she is dealing with a Rock Star boyfriend, the public in her eye, the Bad mouth groupies. She gets to her limit at one point and finally realizes things need to change.

The book ends in a mild cliffhanger. Not a Major I need the NEXT ONE RIGHT NOW, but one that leaves you wanting to find out what happens with these 2 people. Can Jeremy and Dylan get through all their ups and downs and put the pieces back together or not. We will have to wait and find out in book 2

This is gonna be a partial review, why you ask ? Well rather than waste my time reading the rest of this horribly written, ill conceived book I'll review what I did read. I love me some rock star books, not gonna lie but this one was bad all sorts of bad. Dylan, seriously you've known him all of what 2 days and you're in love ? Are you serious with that shit, I didn't buy it. It was another case of insta love, but only this time it felt forced and rushed. NOT to mention that Jeremy is a fucking douche, he obviously had a drinking problem but tried to play it off. He was constantly making Dylan feel like she should be honored he wanted to spend time with her. Put a sock in that shit, or better yet cry me a river. As for Dylan, oh boy, one minute shes angry at his lifestyle the next she's begging him to keep seeing her. The dialogue was awkward, and I was assaulted with useless info, blah blah blah was all I kept thinking. After about halfway through I just couldn't take it anymore, I quit. I've read my share of fail books but this one takes the cake. If you value your time, don't waste it attempting to read this. You'd be better served watching paint dry.

I only have one thing to say to Jeremy:

I went into this book expecting the usual rock star romance story, but was pleasantly surprised. Unlike most, this one deals with the not so glamorous side of dating a rockstar…

Dylan has always been a straight A student. Her biggest dream? To study law at Harvard. And the dream comes true. She moves to Boston with her best friend Theresa, her life all mapped out. On the first night however, she goes to a rock concert, front row seats to see the biggest rockstar – Jeremy Mason. And it’s love at first sight. A whirlwind romance ensues, but it’s not all smooth sailing. Jeremy is hiding a huge secret, and one thing’s for sure, their budding relationship might not survive it.

I really enjoyed their story. Two different people finding common ground, and love… exactly the kind of story I love. Dylan, with her life figured out… and Jeremy, poor Jeremy, so so tortured. He tugged at my heartstrings every time he spoke…

“Make love to me,” he almost begs, in a low sweet voice. “No one makes me feel this way.”

Sigh, but he has major issues

“You said…” he barely continues, “you said you would hold me together. That you wouldn’t hurt me.”

I seriously felt for him. I saw what the issues were a mile away but I couldn’t fault Dylan for not seeing them. She was a bit (a lot) oblivious but I’m an avoider myself so I could understand why she didn’t want to face what was right in front of her. What bugged me though is the decisions she made once she realized something big was up.

Yes, I may be a little nuts. But I love him, and I want to know all of him. If marriage is the way for him to let me in, to prove to him I won’t leave, then I’ll do it.

Say what? You’ll get married to him even though you know he’s hiding something major from you? You’re supposed to be a straight A student, attending Harvard Law! And don’t tell me love is blind unless it’s damn right stupid too! Sigh…

That being said, this was a sweet, albeit difficult story – deals with a heavy subject matter. I enjoyed it but I wasn’t completely swept away. It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, but it doesn’t end either, these two still have a long way to go to get their HEA.

3.75 Stars.

OMG....I so full of anger, rage...my emotions are all over the place.
First I'm so happy Jeremy found the strength to fight for his life...that means a lot to me since I love him as character so much! Yes he's a broken soul , addicted, vulnerable...but he's gold. He just needed to believe in life and love and family...things he never had since kid.

Jeremy only needed a hand...I was pissed with Dylan how she was failing totally in that role...she was a total disappointment, yes she did some good actions too but mostly she pushed him over the edge than gave him a hand.
I hated her for 90% of the book, she's an idiot, she's cruel and I think the only positive side of her existence, is that Jeremy loved her and that that love pushed him in the right direction...from her side she did little to help him and her ambiguous relationship with Scott was nauseating and getting to my nerves.
From one side she was saying she loved Jeremy but from the other the feelings of Scott had more importance to her that Jeremy's. And that relationship was thrown to Jeremy's face in the worst moments.

I hope they have a HEA since I love Jeremy...and his death would be more devastating to me than to Dylan for sure.

Didn't like that the H/h parted their ways especially because I think he needed her love to support him in this difficult and long battle, he's too fragile, and love is staying side by side to the man you love, fight with him, fight for him, and her so called "love" was too weak! She couldn't wait to kick him out of her house...and I hated that!!
I hated that at the end she was doing great with her "puppy" Scott following her everywhere :(((

I loved the hero, the writing and the story development, it makes you want to turn the page and never annoys you!

Jumping to book 2 "Trials"..so curios!

Okay so let me start of with a warning: this book does not end perfectly. The problems are nowhere near fully solved and there is a second book. I consider this a cliff hanger, some people might not say it intense enough to be considered a cliff hanger, but i definitely do. There are still many, many issues unfulfilled and I cannot predict what will happen. I cannot wait to read the second book.

With that being said I can now rave about this book. I really, really, really didn't think I would like this. It started off and I was a really nervous it would move to fast, and it would be completely cliche. By the 50% mark I finally decided that i did like it and would stick with it. After that things really picked up and I fell in love with the book. I think the beginning was more my fault than the fault of the novel. I didn't feel like reading, but this book actually pulled me in and made me want to read. So that was pretty spectacular in itself. I recommend this book, but I may say to wait until the second one comes out. If I had known how this book would end I most likely would have waited myself.

BLOG TOUR STOP: http://heabookshelf.blogspot.com/2013...

"...when you love someone, their problems become your problems, and their pain becomes your pain."

Talk about a book hangover! "Tracks" is a dark, raw, and emotional book that blew me away. I was seriously speechless after I finished it. But I must warn you though, this is not your typical bad boy, rock star romance kind of book. Yes, there's romance and yes, there are hot scenes, but the story line covers some really rough and serious topics.

It all starts with an acceptance letter. Finally having her dream come true, Dylan Ackhart moves to Boston with her best friend Theresa to attend Harvard Law School. I must say, Theresa and Dylan's banter made me giggle. They were total opposites and loved teasing each other.
"I'm just so happy for you," she says in my ear. "I thought you were asexual for a while."

"You? A date?" I say, in mock horror.
"You? Sex?" She says in the same voice. I laugh as she shuts the door."

One night, they go to a rock concert to which Theresa's parents got them front row seats. Little did Dylan know, that night would change her life. There she meets rock star, Jeremy Mason. After literally being trampled by crazy ass fans, Dylan is taken backstage so a doctor can examine her. Wanting to know Dylan, Jeremy asks to speak with her, and this is where the rollercoaster takes off.

As they start spending more and more time together, you notice certain things in Jeremy... you know there's more to him that meets the eye. Honestly, there were moments where I thought their relationship was too messed up. Jeremy was broken and full of secrets and Dylan was too scared to face them and lose him in the process. PLUS, Dylan had her own scars to deal with. So it was pretty stressful. But at the same time, I was really rooting for them to work things out. They were just so full of passion and love, how could I not want them to get a HEA???
"I don't want anyone else to touch you. I don't want anyone else to feel you ever again. I want your lips, your body, everything to myself. I want to be selfish with you. I want you to be mine, even when I'm gone."

"...goddammit Dylan, I love you. I've never loved anything before in my whole life, except my brother, and that was different. No one makes me feel the way you do. I need you."

I seriously found myself feeling like I wasn't turning the pages fast enough! Wanting to know what Jeremy was hiding... and then, BAM! "WHAT!!!!!!!!!" I mean, I had my theories and all...and yet my heart still sunk! "Oh no no no noooo!!!" I honestly felt like I was watching a train wreck slowly unravel in front of me, yet I could not look the other way. *deep sigh*

As far as the ending goes... Sort of a cliffhanger . It doesn't end abruptly or anything, but there is a lot more to their story. The sequel, "Trials," is expected sometime during August.

This well written book has a style that is different and in a way, gripping and challenging. It evokes certain feelings and might even cause your emotions to run wild... so I guess I kind of get why it's gotten mixed reviews. Not everyone can handle that, if I'm being completely honest. But I really think people should go into this book keeping an open mind. I did, and I LOVED it. In fact, to me, "Tracks" is a phenomenal book.

I recommend you read this book

I started reading tracks without really knowing anything about it. I didn't read the blurb or any previous reviews of it so I didn't really know what to expect. I guessed it would have a sexy rock star in it given the name and smoky guitar on the cover...and boy did it!

When I first started reading, it took me a little while to get into. I couldn't really figure out who Dylan was or what her issues were, it was obvious there were some but I wasn't connecting to her at first.

The story soon picked up once Jeremy turned up and I was gripped by him, hook line and sinker. There's a tangible spark between the two main characters that did make it very difficult for me to put the book down. Theresa, Dylan's best friend is also a great character but I would have loved to see more of her. It would have been interesting for her to have more interactions with Dylan and with Jeremy...and also, I would have liked to know more about Sean and how he convinced her to give up her promiscuous ways.

There are a few errors/missing words but they don't distract from the story and I could easily overlook them. I did notice a few continuity issues that bothered me a little but in truth, this is a good story and an intriguing read. The last few chapters in particular were quite heart wrenching.

As an author I read this and wanted to know more and more about the characters lives and throw a few curve balls in there, but as a reader, I thoroughly enjoyed Tracks and would highly recommend it.

Despite the minor errors and continuity issues, I still feel that this book deserves 4 stars. Aside from those things, it is well written, descriptive and gripping...Plus, Jeremy is totally sexy!

My one major criticism to Sarah Biermann ... He should have kept the beard! ;-)

Pretty much every girl's fantasy: you're at a concert and the crazy hot, tatted up lead singer locks eyes with you and falls in love because, clearly, if they really knew you, they'd totally fall for you (cough cough, Adam Levine, cough).
Dylan and Jeremy's story shows what that could look like in reality. And in reality, you have to imagine how fucked up it could get. Of course, the sex would be hot. That's a given. But both characters have some serious shit to work through in their own heads and they find how hard it is to try and make a functional relationship when your own issues aren't resolved.
I have to admit, I wanted to give Dylan a swift kick to the vagina no less than 18 times for being an idiot, but she does wizen up and then I dig her. I'm extremely fond of Jeremy throughout the book, despite how fucked he is, so I get how much Dylan wants to help fix him. Who doesn't wanna fix up a tattooed rocker of their very own??
The book ends in a mild cliffhanger, FYI. Not an emotionally devastating one, but definitely an "I need the second book to come out so I can see how this plays out and I need it real bad" kinda way. Loved the story and give it 4 stars because of my overwhelming desire to vag kick Dylan multiple times.

This is a hard review to write to be honest, as the author is a little lax with facts and details. The consistency was at odds with what she had told us earlier on it the story, and some things just didn't ring true.
For example at the beginning Dylan is a blushing virgin, never had time to date or be with boys, suddenly Jeremy is on the scene and she has had one steady Boyf where she went all the way. There was other instances where it frustrated me to the point of annoyance.
The characters are all a little under developed, you don't really get any back story to the bonds she has with her friends and there is the 'insta love' that bugs the livin shit out of me.
The chemistry was all wrong between Dylan and Jeremy, so to really enjoy this book you have to turn off your brain, as thinking about it hurts! And ruins the story!
The plot I could see was a good rock n roll love story, but the details were that at odds it just irked me. The consistency and lack of correct details annoyed me too much to enjoy it. I didn't like Scott, I didn't think Theresa was much of a friend and Jeremy was someone you just would not involve yourself with, more like run away screaming!!!!

Overall it was a great book. The story was engaging and the perfect example of a beautiful disaster between two people that aren’t necessarily meant to be together, but the readers will find themselves rooting for them. The main characters were charming and even though their story was surrounded with chaos, I, as the reader, found myself investing in their love story. Dylan, the female protagonist, was idealistic, but still written as a relatable, fascinating, and astute graduate student on her way to Harvard Law who falls for the rock star Jeremy Mason. Jeremy was written to be the epitome of sex, drugs and rock and roll, and his story was heartbreaking because he is seeking salvation from his inner demons. I give a better review through my vlog http://youtu.be/GVYPDfijLNA

But I highly reccomend this book. Sarah Biermann has a talent for providing a passionate story and I look forward to reading more of her work.

"...When you love someone, their problems become your problems, and their pain becomes your pain."

Talk about a book hangover! "Tracks" is a dark, raw, emotional read that left me speechless. If your looking for a book that's a rockstar romance...this isn't for you. This book digs deep into some extremely real situations. Is their romance? Yes! Is their a sexy rockstar? Yes! Hot scenes? Yes! It has all of that, but it also contains drug and alcohol addiction. Just a warning.

Dylan Ackhart has been waiting for this day since she can remember. The acceptance letter from Harvard is in her hands and all her hard work comes down to this very moment. She is accepted as was her best friend Theresa. They move to Boston together into a townhouse they bought together. Harvard Law School...how intimidating. I love the relationship Dylan and Theresa have. Their conversations remind me of ones I have with my bestie.

" "You? A date?" I say, in mock horror.
"You? Sex?" she says in the same voice. I laugh as she shuts the door."

Dylan's dad got them a TV as a house warming gift. Theresa's parents being who they are got them front row tickets to Jeremy Mason's concert. While not really enjoying herself she looks up at the stage into the eyes of Jeremy and could swear he was staring right at her. His eyes never leaving her. Then she gets trampled by some bat ass crazy fans. Jeremy literally STOPS the concert and tells his bodyguard Rich to help her. He takes her back into his dressing room where the doctor comes in to check her out. Aside from bruises she was just fine. Theresa comes to the back in a panic worried about her bestie. They pass rooms where some girl on girl action is happening. Dylan cringes, this so isn't her scene.

Jeremy wanted to get to know Dylan, Jeremy asks to speak with her, and this is where the emotional rollercoaster starts. They begin to spend more time together. You as a reader pick up on the signs that Dylan is too naive to recognize right away. I was reading thinking damn this is a fucked up relationship. We all have demons, it's life! Dylan has demons of her own that she shares with Jeremy, however Jeremy is too scared to share his with her. He see how innocent she is and it's something he needs. Even though I was wanting to throw my kindle at the wall, I still wanted them to have a HEA.

“Fucked up?” he questions, confused. “Why? Because you’re shy? Because you’re private? Because you don’t like to be vulnerable? Because you strive to achieve great things to prove you’re good enough to be worth something?”

"I don't want anyone else to touch you. I don't want anyone else to feel you ever again. I want your lips, your body, everything to myself. I want to be selfish with you. I want you to be mine, even when I'm gone."

I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to finish this book. I couldn't stop turning the pages even as my eyes got heavy. I just had to know what Jeremy was hiding, and then BAM! Whoa Whoa Whoa. I was actually correct when it came to my theories. Dylan was BLOWN AWAY and she couldn't handle the truth. Even though she told him no matter what he was hiding it wouldn't change how she felt. It didn't change her love, but it did change her trust and the way she looked at him. There is sort of a love triangle, but of course Dylan is obliviously naive to it all.

"Tracks" is a great book, that will certainly get you feeling things you wouldn't expect. Like I said before it's about some heavy and real shit. It will have those that have dealt with this kind of thing in tears. Hell it had me feeling so many emotions I'm left with whiplash. If you plan on reading this book please keep an open mind. I did, and I LOVED it.

I recommend you read this book.

The sequel "Trials" is out now.

I rate this a 4 out of 5 stars ****

Tracks ... this is one of those books that you have to power through to get to the good stuff. It's not easy and you will feel like giving up, because Dylan is a tad naive and Jeremy is ... well, Jeremy. But about 70% into this book, I started to get really interested and went through the motions with the characters. Even as the obvious story line was revealed, I loved how it was portrayed and the few instances that separated this story from the others.

I am the first to say that I had mixed feelings throughout the entirety of this novel. I had an unsure start, then I got annoyed with Dylan's reaction to Jeremy, then I fell in love with them, then with the introduction of Scott, I was relieved to have a love triangle of sorts, and I got to say, I loved Scott, and found it interesting that even swimming in all his riches, Scott had a one up on everything when it comes to Jeremy. Except Dylan's heart ...how sweet :D

Anyhoo, I moved from wanting a love triangle, to anxiously hoping that Dylan and Jeremy can work it out as a couple, as I love them together and honestly believe they are better together than apart. You can imagine my surprise as to the ending of this book, and the blurb for book 2. I know I wasn't happy with the ending of this installment as it relates to their relationship dynamic, but I am kinda upset that Jeremy can't get a break in book 2 and they are still fighting for each other. I just want them to be happy already!

Jeremy is complex. You love him, you hate him, you despise him, you feel sorry for him and then it all starts over again. He is no way a prince and I am surprised the boy has a liver left. With his bad luck, by book 3 he might have cancer -_-

Still, I love his character and the tender moments he has with Dylan. I was unsure of their relationship initially, as I found it a little too easy and happy go lucky, at least on Dylan's part. But as the story went on, I believed in them as a couple, and then resent Scott's addition, as I think he placed some if not most of the doubt on this relationship. Ideas can be toxic little seeds that grow to fruition, I always say, and I wasn't wrong here at all. You have some relationships and people who need a support system to heal. Dylan and Jeremy are those people. I believe without interference, they could make it together, but it would definitely be a fight!

As I said before, Dylan is a uber naive 22 year old with self-esteem issues that run a mile! The press in this novel ain't the pretty ones either. They are ruthless, and strive on picking the bad out of everything. I swear they are like leeches! Obviously, this doesn't help Dylan's self-esteem issues the least. Still, with a less than stellar upbringing and family history, she turns it all around, and when this girl gets a backbone you fall more in love with her. I was impressed with her turns and when she decided to take both their lives in her hands. She's hot when she's in control ;)

Surprisingly, I loved the detox and how real it felt. He was bitter and resentful like an addict, and for a girl with self-esteem issues, Dylan handled it like a pro!

This story isn't about a shy, pretending to be bad rock star, who is looking for a wife and groupie to take all around the world with him. This is about a young man who is highly intelligent and unsure as to how to relate to people as a reflection of his own upbringing and self-worth issues. It shows him finding his light, losing it and finding it again. While we never get this story from Jeremy's POV, Dylan did a good job of portraying that for us and while I wasn't sure if I liked him initially, I loved him in the end.

It's not all good and even with a story book beginning, we got a realistic story in the middle and end. I know I can't wait to get my hand on book 2, because I am in love with this couple and I wanna see them fight their issues together, because I will always be team Dylan and Jeremy, even if they're with someone else.

“People who don’t experience pain like that-they don’t turn out to be people of substance. You know, people who make a difference.”

This story started out pretty typical for me. Girl goes to rock concert in support of her friend who is a HUGE fan. Meets rocker. Instant love. Chaos ensues. What I didn’t expect was for their magnetism and chemistry to literally jump off the pages. This is no dove releasing, angels playing harps, love story. This is a story about growth, denial, and discovering who you are. The road isn’t always easy, and you may not always end up where you think you will, but the journey is significant.

“No you don’t,” he says, angrily throwing my arms away from my face. “I want to hear you. I need to hear that I make you feel good.”

Tracks is the tale of Dylan and Jeremy. I know a lot of people have a hard time believing in instant love. But when it is written well, and you connect with the characters, it works. Dylan and Jeremy worked. You could sense something else going on that wasn’t clear at the moment, and yes, you will figure it out LONG before Dylan, but always on the forefront was their love for each other. Sometimes people meet and you are like, hello, there you are. When people speak of your heart finding its other half, I experienced it in this book.

“I don’t want you to do anything you’re not comfortable with. But I can’t resist you anymore. The way you walk, Dylan. The way you sparkle in that dress. The shape of your body. Your pretty face. The way you look at me, like you actually care for me. I need to have you.”

Dylan comes from a broken home and doesn’t want to repeat the mistakes of her parents. Despite all the warning signs, she cannot stay away. I just wanted to grab and shake the poor girl. This was an educated woman, in Harvard law school in fact. Surely she couldn’t be so blindly in love as to see what was right in front of her face.

“This ain’t a fairytale, Ms. Ackhart, and I’m no prince.”

Though we only receive minuscule bits and pieces about Jeremy’s past, it is clear from the beginning that this is a man with A LOT of demons. My only gripe with this book is that I wish we had received more information on him. I just knew he had a story to tell, but as the entire story was in Dylan’s POV, we only received what he shared with her.

“I don’t have to, but I want to. Because I love him. And when you love someone, their problems become your problems, and their pain becomes your pain.”

There are some things that play out in the end that I thought were told with a gritty honesty. And although I wanted to knock some sense into Brook to open her eyes, I understand how love can be blind. I was left wanting more, much more. Luckily there is another book in this series. I cannot wait to see where the road takes Dylan and Jeremy. 4 star read for me, just because the beginning was a little slow to my liking. Once it picked up though, hold on for the ride!

3.5 stars out of 5

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.

In her debut novel “Tracks,” author Sarah Biermann has crafted an engaging and fast-paced tale of sex, drugs, rock and roll. “Tracks” tells the story of Harvard law student Dylan Ackhart and her whirlwind romance with music prodigy turned rock and roll bad boy, Jeremy Mason.

All work and no play have definitely made Dylan a dull girl but the years of sacrifice have paid off as she prepares to enter Harvard Law School. An unexpected gift of concert tickets puts Dylan directly in Jeremy’s path and even though the two are separated by hordes of adoring fans they have an instant connection.

"His beautiful blue eyes are intense as he stares at me, piercing me through my soul. His face relaxes as he makes eye contact with me, seeming almost surprised himself.”

With a gorgeous face, epic talent, and endless charm, Jeremy sweeps Dylan off of her feet and drops her directly into his chaotic world.

“His hand comes up above his head and he arches his back. He is a liquid sex rock star. I decide, in a 12-year-old girl kind of way, that he can acknowledge me whenever he wants…”

Dylan slowly begins to realize Jeremy’s bravado is a mask for serious issues, issues that she may not be able to handle. Infidelity and addiction become hot button topics and Dylan has to decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice to keep Jeremy.

“My whole life for the past ten years has been about making myself happy and doing what I want, and I don’t have the energy to change now. I will fucking lose it. So what do you want?! Do you want me to lose it?!”

Though a good read, “Tracks” occasionally gets bogged down with secondary, third, and sometimes fourth tier characters. First there’s the roommate who pushes Dylan towards Jeremy only to disappear as Jeremy’s issues mount. Then there’s the mysterious blue-haired girl who is constantly hovering around Jeremy. That’s not touching on the bodyguard, the violent/lustful groupies, and Dylan’s disapproving father.

Readers are also introduced to Scott, a super-hot super-wealthy law student and potential rival for Dylan’s affections. At times the connection between Dylan and Scott seemed more real and much stronger to me than the one between Dylan and Jeremy. I made a note as I read - “rock star = jerk, law student = awesome.”

“Tracks” doesn’t end with a cliff-hanger or a HEA but does provide a satisfying end point. I’m eager to see what Biermann has in store for the characters in the planned follow-up “Trials.”

Check out “Tracks” and show this promising new author some support.

Happy reading.

ARC Was Given To Blog For An Honest Review

“I love you Dylan, I’ll never want anyone else. You’re everything to me, my reason for living. Nothing’s ever meant anything to me before you.”
What does a Harvard Law student and a Rock Star have in common? Yep, nothing, but they say opposites attract, right? Hell yes they do, especially in this book.

Dylan, she is the bookworm, smart and intent on making good grades and becoming a prosecutor, no time for relationships, then BAM she goes to concert with her best friend who happens to have front row seats. The stage is set and out comes our sexy rocker, Jeremy, his eyes meet hers and she is hooked. An “unfortunate” injury during the concert gets her a backstage pass to meet the sexy man and so it begins.

These two characters both have a pretty wicked past and demons to chase back to hell. The love is intense with these two, but also volatile to them. He can’t breathe without her and she can’t be in relationship with him and watch him slowly kill himself. Dylan has been there and done that.

What I love about this story, other than the love, is that it captured realness. Addiction is real. Dylan is in denial with what is happening and essentially is enabling Jeremy. Jeremy lies to Dylan about his problem and makes promises that he does not keep, just as an addict always does. This story is filled with a lot of angst and sadness. I loved every second of it. I wanted to scream at her so many times; I was so frustrated that she actually would believe he would try to get better. I did say she was a Harvard law student right!! Love is blind. The author played it all out in a very true to life way. What Dylan does in this book really surprised me but it showed just how amazing, strong, and selfless she is.

This story is an emotional ride and your heart will take a beating and bear bruises. The end is not an OMG cliffhanger but leaves it open for a continuation. Yes, the books has some hot scenes in it too; would not be a rocker romance without it.

There is an old saying, you all know it. “If you love something let it go. If it is meant to be it will come back to you” I only hope that is what happens when we get to the end of their journey.

Sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll…that’s Jeremy Mason’s life – he’s the epitome of a rock star, but that wasn’t always so. Jeremy is a musical prodigy – at the age of 3 he was composing classical music, age 5 playing the piano for the queen, he excelled at every instrument he picked up but it was never enough for his parents. Living in the shadow of his brother, he never felt loved, accepted, or understood – which is why he decided to be a rock star. We all know what that life entails – lots of women throwing themselves at you, alcohol flowing freely, and easy access to drugs, which Jeremy came to rely on heavily.

At one of Jeremy’s shows, he spots Dylan Ackhart, front and center, being trampled by overzealous fans. He stops the show to help her out and she ends up backstage with her best friend, Theresa. Jeremy is attracted to the green-eyed beauty, but after witnessing a group orgy, Dylan decides it’s best to part ways with the rocker. Jeremy doesn’t give up so easily, and Dylan finally decides to live a little. She’s always had her nose in her books, working hard to get into Harvard Law, and she deserves to have some fun. After only a few days of hanging out, Jeremy and Dylan fall hard for each other. Dylan knows Jeremy has issues, but can her love for him make her overlook those problems? Will Jeremy realize he needs help before it’s too late? Can Dylan handle dating a rock star, or would it be easier to date a normal guy like Scott?

I loved this story, even though Jeremy is the cliché drug-addicted, hot rocker. Dylan notices almost from the beginning that Dylan has a drinking problem but she overlooks it. What I don’t understand is how she missed the harder addictions – I figured out who “weasel-boy” was the first time he was mentioned! I thought it was awesome how Dylan was committed to helping Jeremy when he needed it most, but I wasn’t happy with the ending at all. I wouldn’t exactly call it a cliffhanger, but I didn’t feel like there was any closure either, it just kind of stopped. Over all, I fell in love with the characters, and I can’t wait to read Trials to see what else is in store for Dylan and Jeremy – I’m routing for them!

Tracks (Rock Bottom #1) By: Sarah Biermann

Review by: Amber Haynes (NerdGirlAmbz)

Tracks is a dark, raw, and emotional book. I was seriously speechless after I finished it. But I must warn you though, this is not your typical bad boy, rock star romance kind of book. Yes, there's romance and yes, there are hot scenes, but the story line covers some really serious topics that may hit close to home for some people. The seriousness of this book is what I think makes it so great. It has a raw truth to the storyline that I believe people can relate too. If not have been threw themselves.

"...when you love someone, their problems become your problems, and their pain becomes your pain."

This line from the book spoke to me in such a way that I truly had a tear come to my eye. This author does a wonderful job in catching the essence of love. Whether it is family love, passionate love or child love. She captures the true depth of its essence and brings it to life in her writing.

Dylan has just moved to Boston to go to Harvard Law School with her best friend, Theresa. Jeremy Mason is a famous child prodigy who now happens to be a famous rock star. Jeremy is in Boston on his major tour. When fate plays its card, they meet and are forever changed. Their lives intertwine and it is a roller coaster ride from there. Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll are always a clincher, but this book gives you more than that.

While reading this story I found myself on the edge of my seat wishing I read faster. As I turned each page and got further into the story I felt as if I was a car about to collide with an oncoming train. I could not breathe and then you read the next page and BAM. Right in your face you feel this cold terror and you want to put the book down, but you are compelled to read more. This book is one that is in a class all its own. A powerful storyline with even more powerful characters. As for the ending well… There is sort of a cliff hanger, but not an OMG life altering one. You can plainly see there is more to this story and you will want to read more! I recommend this book for ALL to read and am very excited to read the next installment.

“I love you, Dylan. I’ll never want anyone else. You’re everything to me, my reason for living. Nothing’s ever meant anything to me before you.”

Talk about one unlikely pairing. Dylan isn’t even into music but somehow lands one of the most popular musicians in the world. While I did have my doubts on how they would make it work I found that their relationship that started with physical attraction immediately develops into a deeper emotional connection.

I enjoyed reading Dylan and Jeremy’s story. I couldn’t help but cheer them on. What I appreciated most about it was it isn’t painted as a pretty picture. It’s not all hearts and flowers. It’s raw and intense and deals with difficult issues and choices and how despite all the challenges thrown their way they were still able to get through it together.

I loved both characters. Yeah Dylan did seem a little naïve but I was glad that she finally put her foot down and was strong enough to let go. Despite all the stress she was motivated enough to follow her dream of becoming a lawyer. It also great that she had help along the way.

Jeremy’s character was pretty complex. He had his ups and downs based on his cycle. He was romantic one minute, cold the next. When he finally came to the realization what was at stake, he became tenacious and determined. He knew that things would be difficult but he went through with it and made a huge sacrifice to keep his girl.

To me the only setback I felt in this book was the ending. It ended too soon. Yes it does have a slight cliffhanger and I for one did become fully vested in both the characters. That being said, the next book titled “Trials” is stressing me out! They’ve been through so much hardship already. Can they possibly handle that much more? I’m hoping so otherwise Dylan and Jeremy won’t be the only ones heartbroken. Beyond that, I thought it was perfect.

If you’re looking for a swoon-worthy, intense and emotional rock romance, I think this would be a very good choice. Recommended.

I love me some rock-n-roll books. I crave them. If they're angsty, drama filled, hot sex, man whore galore...even better. If it's well written, I can devour the book within hours. Now with all that being said there are some of those moments in this book buuuuut there were just too many problems with the story that I had a hard time getting thru even though I did finish it.

We are introduced to Dylan. From the beginning she's a shy very put together knows what she wants in life and will go after it twenty one year old virgin. She gets accepted to Harvard Law School along with her friend Theresa. Dylan's family life is what made her to what she is. Her Dad and Mom were not faithful to each other and she knows this by catching her Dad with a student and when she meets her real father. She wants nothing to do with any non sense that could hinder her education and life.

Dylan and Theresa have tickets to go see Jeremy Mason. A musical child genius who enters the rock world and has his own problems. At the concert, which they have front row seats, Dylan and Jeremy make eye contact and from here things start becoming problems for me. I get the attraction. He sees her beauty and innocence and it's refreshing for him and she sees him as a rock God. What becomes the problem is the inconsistencies thru out the book. For starters she's a virgin but then it goes on and says that she has had relations with other men. I'm like huh? I don't like to nit pick but this is where a great editor comes into play.

They get together but of course not without drama. The drama is real life situations that affect everyone especially Jeremy and Dylan. He knows he needs help and she gives him the ultimatum and he finally cleans up his act. I didn't like the epilogue cause of the way it left off. No cliffhanger but it could have been more. I will read the second book but sad to say it's not at the top of my TBR stack. The story and author has potential but like I said earlier, it needs an editor.

Tracks is a Rock and Roll love story. Dylan is about to start her first year at Harvard Law, something she has been dreaming about forever! Her BFF takes her to see THE hottest rock star, Jeremy Mason, in concert. Dylan (and myself) was quite surprised at the turn of events to follow. She never imagined herself to be a groupie fan girl who swoons at the sight of a man, let alone a world famous one! I liked how Dylan and Jeremy 'met' and their initial connection. It was very quick and I was shocked considering the type of girl Dylan proclaimed she was.

"He tastes like cigarettes and beer, but it's a sexy taste- the thrill of the bad boy I'd never gotten to date in High School."

Of course Jeremy was persistent and totally irresistible and I loved that about him. Dylan became naive and careless and I was surprised at some of her behaviors, I felt like she checked her brain and morals at the door. She took us on an emo roller coaster ride for sure! The scenes with the fans and paparazzi were terrifying and very real.

What good rock star story doesn't come with baggage. Dylan's is a loveless home and Jeremy's is a dark path of substance abuse and loneliness. My heart went out to Jeremy. It was heartbreaking to see his struggles and his desire to overcome them. Fame and fortune did nothing to help him. The storyline with the blue haired girl was expected but still had my jaw hanging open and sad for Dylan to discover things that way.

"I'm not going to stay and watch you waste your genius. I'm not going to stay and watch you kill yourself."

Their ending left me with a somber feeling. Both happy and a little sad. I'm looking forward to reading the second book in this series. No cliffhanger here! You will all be glad to know :) I was hoping for some sexier scenes but overall I was sucked in and couldn't put this book down. Nice job, Ms. Biermann for your first book! I think this will be a great series!
