I think I loved Declan's story most of all...review to come with my tour date of 10/20.

**FULL REVIEW**

“I let her go. Hell, I practically told her to go to him. So, why does it feel like someone kicked me in the stomach every time I see them together? Every. Damn. Time.” –Declan

“He wants something he can’t have. Well, welcome to my world. Where things don’t come easy and dreams don’t come true. Where somebody else is in charge and the boogie man is real. I should know. I’ve met him.” –Liza

When I started this story, I had no expectations. I had read the other books and fell in love with each character; watching them grow and change as the series has progressed. I wondered when Declan would have his say…and I am so glad it has come! I think this may have been my favorite book so far.

Declan is the good guy. And you know the saying, “nice guys finish last”? Well, I think it’s more like “save the best for last”. I couldn’t have imagined anyone better for Declan than Liza…and the way they challenge and change one another is just beautiful. Let me tell you a little about the story (don’t worry, no spoilers)…

Declan is still raw from losing the one girl he thought he loved.

Liza is running. Running from her past, running from her present, and running straight through her future. Using her body as a way to numb the pain of all she has lost.

When the two collide, it’s more than just fireworks. He finds that love has many layers and she learns that sometimes it’s better to run to instead of from…problem is, can they make it work when there is so many reasons stacked against them why it shouldn’t?

“When someone you love, someone you’d lay your life down for, gets lost in the dark, you follow them. Maybe you can’t be the light they need. Maybe you don’t even need the light. And maybe, just maybe, it’s enough to just be there in the darkness.”

"When someone you love, someone you’d lay your life down for, gets lost in the dark, you follow them. Maybe you can’t be the light they need. Maybe you don’t even need the light. And maybe, just maybe, it’s enough to just be there in the darkness. Together.”

I.Loved.This.Book! Sydney Lane has life wisdom that comes shining through in her writing... it just speaks to me. I highlighted so many wonderful passages in this book. I am not a huge fan of New Adult Romance but this author does it right and does it well. Bravo!
This is book #3 in this series... Declan's story. It can be read as a stand alone but you will understand Declan's story better if you read book one... Choices. Choices was one of my top favorite reads last year so I highly recommend starting there. Somehow I missed book two of this series... the author said it was okay to go ahead with this one even though I hadn't read book two... and she was right. I will be stepping back to read the second book though... I love the way this lady writes!
Hope is such a perfect title for this book... both Eliza and Declan have been hurt, betrayed and damaged. What they find in each other is that little spark of hope that gives them strength and courage to face their past demons, embrace change and look towards the future.
This book took me back to my college years and reminded me of those horrible feelings of rejection experienced when the one person you want most doesn't want you back. Anyone remember that??
This series focuses heavily on the emotions felt when we have to face the consequences of our choices. Sometimes we make bad choices and are forced to learn from them so we can make better ones in the future. I love the message... and, it's feelings that I think all of us have and will experience at some point in our lives. But, bad choices do not have do define us forever and as long as we have hope, change and a better future awaits us.

A few more of my favorite passages from the book...

It's in feeling pain that we truly learn to move forward. When we learn to use that pain, we learn and grow and succeed. We use the pain of the past to pave the way for a better future. And in that, we learn to let go.

The one thing I'm learning is that if you hate something, only you can change it. Sometimes happiness is about choosing it. Doesn't mean I can erase the past... just that I can close the door on things that cannot be changed.

If you love to read books that are laced with words of wisdom then this is such a good series to pick up... I just can't say enough about it... and, it is also quite steamy. I love the nice boy with the naughty side that entailed Declan. I really did fall in love with his character. Can I order one just like him for one of my daughters?? Yes, I'd like that...

Thanks to the author for the complimentary copy of this book! It was such a pleasure to read... I want more... :))

Everytime I read one of Sydney's books I'm wondering why isn't she read by more bookworms?!

And everytime I read one of Sydney's books I'm blown away. I'm captivated by her stories, her writing style amazes me and I always fall in love with her characters. She is one of those authors who you can't help but to absorbe every word written.

Yay, a good romance :)

“Forgiving isn't always something you do for the other person. Sometimes, forgiving is something you do for yourself. Forgiveness sets you free.”

Declan White is the fraternity chaplain, and a hot one at that. He's a 'nice guy', but he's had his heart broken, and we first meet him going through grief at the betrayal of his best friend. He can't get over the love for the girl he thought he once had but he must accept that perhaps it was never meant to be.

“Emotionless, I drift into darkness. I'm not sure I like this new place I'm in. Not the darkness - we became friends a long time ago. It's the total and utter lack of feeling. I thought I would like it but... I don't.”

Eliza Nichols left her perfect life behind her when she moved to college. She lost everything she ever loved in one night of foolishness and hasn't forgiven herself since. She uses meaningless sex as an escape, looking for something, even though her pain is a reminder that she's still alive, getting by.

But it wasn't until meeting Declan that she finally realised that being alive wasn't the same as living.

“The voices in my head hushed to a whisper... still there, still painful... but bearable. That's the closest I've been to happiness in a long damn time.”

“If I've learned anything, it's that you can't make someone feel the way you do. It's meant to be or it isn't.”

Both of them have their issues, but when Declan offers to be Eliza's escape, they find much more than just that. Declan realises that unlike Quincy, he's willing to fight for Eliza. But she's the one holding back, and to move forward, she must face her past and the demons that haunt her.

“When someone you love, someone you'd lay your life down for, gets lost in the dark, you follow them. Maybe you can't be the light they need. Maybe you don't even need the light. And maybe, just maybe, it's enough to just be there in the darkness. Together.”

I won't go on and on but I loved the characters. It was like 'bad girl' with the 'nice guy' and it was sweet for a change. Even though the book had its darkness, I found it a really easy read that still held a great quality to it.

“Life is a battlefield, a constant struggle between darkness and light.”

5 “Declan White” Stars

Finally!!! I have been waiting for Declan’s story. As much as I love a bad boy like Brody, I also fell hard for Declan and his giving, patient, and heartwarming ways. My heart was broken for him in Choices, so naturally I needed to see him get his HEA. And that HEA comes in the form of a red boots and red lipstick wearing girl with a few issues….Yikes!!!

“It’s like a train wreck. I don’t want to watch, but I can’t help myself.”

So, I got nervous as I was starting this story. I couldn’t handle seeing Declan get his heart broken twice and I had my fingers crossed that the author wasn’t going to do that to me. But, I was pleasantly surprised by where this story took me. Don’t get me wrong, it was hard to be in his head at times, and hear how he felt about Quincy, but I had no clue Declan White had another side to him. One that I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed ;) It made this bad boy addict a little giddy to know he could break out of that polo shirt every once in a while, and enjoy himself.

“Naughty? Oh, I love that word coming from his mouth.”

Then Eliza (AKA Liza), I liked her. She made some bad calls and I didn’t totally agree with how she handled some things, but for the most part she was good to Declan. As good as she could be considering her circumstances. The progression of their relationship, if that’s the correct word for it) shocked me. When I thought of Declan’s story, I thought of all the sweet things, such as flowers and romantic dates. But, it wasn’t like that and yet I think I loved it even more. Love is work and these two proved they had what it takes to fight for it.

“Sometimes, forgiving is something you do for yourself. Forgiveness sets you free.”

So, as you can see, I really enjoyed this continuation of the Choices series. And I am very hopeful that we can get Seth’s story very soon!!! I am anxious to see what is going on with Seth, and I felt like Hope sorta started his story, and there will be more to come soon. 

4 Stars|Amazon|Goodreads
Favorite Quote:  "One minute. Sixty seconds. It doesn't seem like a long time, just a blip on the radar of this journey called life, yet so many things can change in the blink of an eye. Love. Loss. Death. One minute can feel like a lifetime."

Like all the books in this series, Hope was fantastic. It grabbed your from the start and if you are anything like me, you wanted to see where Declan's story will take him. We got to see all of our old friend in this novel. I felt like it was bringing us back full circle to Choices. I really enjoyed it. Now, wouldn't you like to know a little more about Eliza and Declan from reading the blurb? I sure did. Sydney is such a tease.

Eliza is a girl full of secrets. With a past she is running from and a life she is living in the moment, things are bound to catch up to her. It is just a matter of when. The moment Declan walks into the party, she can't do anything to take her eyes off him. There is something about him that wont let her look away. She has to stop running eventually.

Declan had his heart-broken. The women he loves, loves another. He is living life day-to-day, and not really enjoying it. Then while wallowing in his hurt, he sees Eliza at a party. Like her, he can't seem to get her out of him mind. Sometimes all it takes it one look.
HopeTeaser
If you have read the first 3 novels in this series you will read this one. I am not worried on that. But I do want you to know how great it was. Sydney crafts a novel that works its way into you heart. The more things came to light, the deeper I found myself in the book and its characters. Once I got to the end I was full or emotion. I can't say much without spoiling the end. So I will leave it there. But do you that Sydney develops these characters masterfully and slowly through this novel insuring that at the end you are invested.

This novel is a can't miss in the Choices series. Give them a shot, you want to know their story.

Be Still My Heart... Declan is finally here!

I always fall for the wrong guy in a love triangle so I've been anxiously waiting for Declan to get his HEA. I couldn't be more pleased with how Sydney wrote his story.

Our sweet southern gentleman may have turned up the sexiness but she allowed his character to remain true. Declan is not a bad boy and I was glad his personality didn't change.

This is a dual POV with Declan and Eliza sharing their stories. Eliza is a pretty good heroine if not a bit cliché. It's nice to watch Declan break down her walls though just from being his sweet self. She puts off a bad girl vibe but it's all to cover up the fear she has of being close to others and forgiving herself for her past mistakes.

We do get to see Quincy, Brody, Eric and Jenna which is nice. That's why I love these stand alone series. You can get invested in the characters because they continue to appear throughout several books.

Poor Seth is a mess and we get hints of his pain and self destruction which will lead to his story next.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this story. I love the characters and I have a very soft spot in my heart for Declan. I always like the whole 'boy next door' book boyfriends.

The writing felt a little repetitive at times, some back and forth between the main characters as they try to move beyond their pasts. It didn't take away from the story for me, just kept me from giving it five stars.

The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the epilogue. I won't spoil it for anyone but I felt it was unnecessary. It's short and too superficial to add to the story. I wish the author would have just left the end of the book and then done a more extended epilogue after Seth's story. Or even used the epilogue to further set up Seth's story.

But again, I'm not going to complain too much because my sweet Declan got his HEA and I loved the way that part of this novel was done!

Definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys love triangles and the NA genre.

In stories like these we usually find the guy the high school star and the girl being the sweet member of her group of girlfriends. However this time the girl, Eliza Nicholas, is carefree, overly enthusiastic star of her high school’s softball team; and the slightly older guy, Declan White, is the sweet innocent one, being the chaplain of his college fraternity.

Disgruntled due to a single blunder she made one night, Eliza feels so downhearted and marred that the only viable solution she sees left to her is to simply chuck her love of softball and a possible career in the sport, as well as turning her back on the whole shebang of everything she holds close to her heart; keeping all this a secret she must keep to herself.

I found it refreshing to see a young nice guy like Declan reacts losing his first chance at having a possible HEA when one of his so-called brothers in the fraternity they belong to steals the girl of his dreams. One thing he can’t do is to get exceedingly emotional about it, and now has to put forth an effort in trying to be a man about this calamity in his life.

Nobody has ever planned for the lives of these to individuals to be turning out the way they are. Perhaps each of these individuals might be the answer to what the other one needs in their lives.

With the strong wills both Eliza and Declan have to order to have survive as long as they have, it was no wonder there was turmoil between these two lovers when they first met, with neither one willing to give in to the other.

Will each of these two individuals become a Phoenix, rising out of the ashes of their despair to find the HEA they desire to have in their lives? The only possible solution for them is to find it to be willing to find a common ground they both can agree upon; but are these two willing to do this to attain this goal?

For having given her readers a refreshing reversal of character roles and a story of hope, I’ve given Ms. Lane 5 STARS for her wonderful endeavor here.

I don't throw 5 stars around nilly willy, but this book deserves it! This story has a degree of religion in it but it works wonderfully. I have no problem with religion in stories but sometimes I can't really relate. I totally related to this story.

There are 5 stages of grief.

This was a wonderful story of self-doubt, self-worth, self-loathing, self re-discovery, healing, forgiveness. You are probably saying…"How is this a wonderful story?" Well it just is, you are going to have to read it.

Liza Nichols, is broken and has no desire to be fixed. She likes her life, college life, party life, alcohol & men. What's not to like? She is loved by her parents & sisters. She pushed them away.

Declan White, is broken and doesn't know how to fix it. He is forced to face this everyday when he sees Quincy & Brody. He likes his life, for the most part. College Chaplain, son of a Preacher, involved in a fraternity, loves his frat brothers. His family loves him. He feels awkward around his friends.

Again this is a story about Declan & Liza, but the story is also about friendship as well.

Do yourself a favor and get this story! I hope there is a next book, because I need to know Seth's story!!!!!!

I really loved this book. Sydney is great at pulling you into the story where you feel you are the main character. Declan really is recovering from a broken heart. The way he explains his pain is beyond words. I was afraid that he was going to sound sappy or something like that but no. He really loved her. Yes time can help heal a broken heart but learning how to move on is what is most important.

Declan, being the good man that he was brought up to be surprised me. Then there is Eliza, I loved her story. She was not your typical heroin and I loved that. Her attitude was balls to the walls, ride the wave and she did not care what others thought as long as she did not have to think. Declan was enamored by Eliza and he started to feel again. The story of Declan and Eliza is a great one. If you loved the first two books in this series you will surly enjoy this one.

Lot's of surprises some good, some bad that the characters have to face. All in all this was a top read for me.

I admit I've made a mistake in choosing to read this book, I am clearly not the targeted audience. I am not against YA/NA books, but I guess I'm really not into this "glorious brokenness" sh*t. And I'm so tired of this running-scared-I'm-so-fearful-to-love-I-don't-deserve-it bullshit (Sorry for sounding so harsh). It wasn't until almost 80% of the book that Liza started to pick up her life, and by then I was barely hanging on by a thread already. And I'm also so not digging the writing style. It just seems so stunted to me. But most of all, I don't enjoy the characters at all. I desperately want to read someone who's courageous and bold and loves life THROUGH-OUT the book, not just at the rear-end 15% of it.

I loved this book! I fell for Declan in Choices, and looked forward to his happy ending. From the moment Declan and Liza met, there was instant chemistry between them. It was entertaining to watch them fight their attraction for each other. Declan still had feelings for Quincy, and Liza had been hurt in the past and was very cautious getting into a relationship. I loved seeing a different side of Declan, a naughty side.He knew Liza needed someone who knew what they wanted and went for it, without giving her time to think too much, which would cause her to run in the opposite direction. I will definitely recommend this book every chance I get! I can't wait to read Seth's story! :)

Perfect story for Dec! And OMG i finished the book fealing so happy for all the characters! The thing about this author is that she always finds a way of teaching, making you see what is important and touching subjects that really need attention making you enjoy the journey.

I love how the main character deals with every situation thrown at him. His patience. And the difference in every characters attitude towards life, makes the story fresh. And Seth makes it so much fun! Really enjoyed reading this book and finding out what would happen to Declan- he really got what he deserved.

the latest book in the Choices series, and in my opinion the best. Declan's story, and it really fleshes him out as a person. you also get to me Liza. Ah Liza. She has enshrined herself on my list of best book girlfriends. Her story is amazing, deeply emotional, and totally real. One of those characters drawn so perfectly, you feel you actually know her as a real person.

Those of you who follow my reviews know I do not EVER give away plot points, and that is hard becasue there is so much to say her.e I'll leave it at, read this book.

***Received ARC for honest review***

I was lucky enough to read and review both Choices and Fate and absolutely loved both of those books. I am happy to say I love Hope just as much. I believed Quincy and Brody belonged together from the beginning (I like bad boys) but wanted to just hug and hold Declan. I loved his story and was happy to see him find love. Something about this author's writing draws me in and keeps me reading. She had a way of grabbing hold of my heart with Choices and Fate, Hope was no different. I look forward to more of Sydney Lane's books!

I never expected to get caught up in this series, but totally did. All the characters are great, makes me want to be right there with them as they go through their shenanigans. Was good to see that the nice guy finally found his girl!

I was afraid it would Declan's pov during the midst of the triangle. I was hurt for him in the first books already. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked him even more in this book. The characters are written perfectly. I love how the author's epilogues in her books aren't just the immediate future. You aren't left wondering what will happen down the road!

Hope is the fourth installment in the Choices series by Sydney Lane. Loved the storyline and the twists and turns that had me hooked from beginning to end. The characters had tons of depth, emotion and chemistry. Sydney did a fabulous job of creating a storyline that reached out and tugged at your heart strings. A very great read that I would highly recommend.

Declan was adorable. He's really a nice guy through and through, but there's also that bad boy coming from him. It took Eliza knocking him off his feet to make him move on that way.

I was a bit hesitant that Declan's feelings for Brody's girl would be a big issue, but it wasn't. It's been pretty clear that Eliza is the girl for Declan.

I admire Eliza's strength.
