When OWEA agent Beatrice Davis is awakened in the wee hours of the morning by a knock on her door, the last person who she expects to encounter is her vampire ex-lover, Claude Desmairis. Claude is also one of the last people she wants to see, but Beatrice has a secret power: she has visions of deaths that assist her in crime solving, and Claude desperately needs her help. As they work together, old sparks start flying again, making Beatrice wonder if maybe, this time around, she and Claude might have a shot.
This novella will definitely keep you on your toes! Balancing suspense with romance, Allee tells the story of two ex-lovers who struggle to stay professional and focus on the case that they need to solve, despite the lingering attraction that they feel for each other. She does a good job of portraying the romantic tension between them. As for the mystery, there are some really great plot twists involved in this, especially near the end.
Be warned, this book is graphic in multiple ways! The language is frequently vulgar - the book is littered with f-bombs, and as I've mentioned in some of my other reviews, I view excessive profanity as a sign of weak writing, because I feel that there are usually more eloquent and tasteful means of expression, even in times of volatile anger. There are also some pretty violent scenes and the sex scenes are fairly explicit, as well. Allee makes no claims to target a young audience, but if you are sensitive to vulgar language, violence, or sex, you may want to skip this.
Prior to reading this, I did not realize it was part of a series, and as a result, I was definitely confused at times. There were some instances where Allee very briefly explained certain key elements of background information, such as the fuction of the OWEA and the nature of interactions between humans and supernatural creatures. However, I am confident that if you read the other three books in the series prior to reading this book, you won't experience any of these problems. While it is possible to understand the gist of the story without reading the other books, I think that it would definitely be helpful to read them beforehand and if I have time, I would eventually like to read the rest of the series.
I wish that this book had been written as a novel rather than a novella. I think that it has really great potential as a full-length novel - Allee could have gone more in-depth with the mystery, as well as the romance between Claude and Beatrice. I feel that because of the brevity of the story, the romance was very rushed and felt undeveloped. I wish that Allee had chosen to write a longer story so that she could have developed these elements more.
Overall, this is a quick but satisfying read! It meets all of the requirements of a novella and if you're looking for something that you can start and finish in a brief amount of time, but still have a good story, I think that this would be a good pick for you.

[I received a copy of Vampire Games from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.] You'll want to play along with this vampire in Tiffany Allee's newest Files from the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency book. Set in Chicago, Tiffany Allee's Files from the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency (OWEA) series is really enjoyable. I received a copy of book four, Vampire Games, to review and, of course, had to get books one through three (Banshee Charmer, Succubus Lost, Lycan Unleashed) to read first. Wow! I'm so glad I did. Allee has created really interesting characters, an arcing story line throughout the four books, and fascinating investigations into otherworldly crimes, mixed in with some very steamy romantic action.
First introduced in book one, Chicago police detective and vampire Claude Desmairisis the focus of book four. In each of the three books we have glimpses of him and he is mysterious and powerful - powerful enough to be a contender with the Magister, leader of the Chicago-area vampires. I really enjoyed Vampire Games and do hope there are more books in the series to come. Once I began reading the series, I confess, I wanted to know more about Claude (Allee knows how to tease the reader with fascinating details very successfully). I won't give away details, but in addition to alpha vamp Claude, one of the things I enjoyed about this book was learning more about Bea and getting to actually like her. (Before this her only appearance was crashing Marisol and Valerio's hotel room like a red-haired Valkyrie.)
The "otherworldly" details in Allee's books, witchcraft, psychometry, shamanism, etc. are fascinating. There is enough grittiness in each of the four investigations to believe in this special investigative department of the Chicago Police force, but to my mind there wasn't a great deal of emphasis on the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency, which seems like a paranormal FBI unit. Something to look forward to, I'm sure.
I would highly recommend Tiffany Allee's Files from the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency series to all fans of paranormal romance and suspense. You won't want to leave a page unturned and, probably like me, will read these four books straight through. They're fun, interesting, suspenseful, and romantic.

Since I really enjoy a good crime investigation story this one even more of a winner because of the juice to go with it. I want this unit in my city and would most definitely find some crime to report just to have Detective Claude as the requested officer to come and file the report with. The crime would be anyone not reading this delicious read that can have you sinking your teeth into and the suspects are missing the thrill of the hot detective going after his perp and his crew standing in the way of justice and all. The body of evidence given and the feelings this read inspires good thing for us the file wasn't sealed so as our enjoyment would of been denied. Of course he isn't working alone because regardless if he wants it gets much needed help from Beatrice who he approaches and is on downtime from her own agency. Having worked together before and he needs her ability with the evidence couples them together once again. They are one sizzling couple that also aside from this case the pursued could get caught here also for eternity both in and out of this case. The dance they perform oh so entertaining and worth the time taken to see. Could you go after your a dear friend if they were a suspect? The further along Claude gets the more the evidence stacks against him in pursuit of his son and the game has to be played until the end and are their any winners? So if you would not want to be charged with the crime of dropping the ball on this one and there is no justice in that,it would also be denying yourself the treat that you too would derive from it or could it be you too want Detective Claude at your doorstep clearing you of any wrong doing in having filed a falsified report with your name in it? I received an arc for this read for an honest review.

The fourth File from the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency is a fast and entertaining read.
Beatrice’s vampire ex-lover asks her for help with a case and she’s glad to help him out because she is on forced leave to keep from burn out on her job as OWEA agent. Claude is investigating a case that could prove his friend’s son is guilty than more than his father knows and he hopes that Beatrice’s gift can help with that, but he certainly didn’t plan on putting her in danger.
The author has created an exciting paranormal world full of action, intrigue, romance and drama. The sparks between Beatrice and Claude fly off the pages, but they need a little help in the romance department due to the past. The tension builds between them throughout the story and the sex between them is hot and steamy and well written.
The conflict is well defined leaving the reader no doubt as to the motivations and the emotions of the characters involved. The fast paced plot keeps the reader engaged with the story and the author describes the final battle with great intensity bringing it to life for the reader.
There were a couple of instances when the story switched speakers and I wasn’t sure who was talking, but it was only once or twice and I easily got it figured out. Otherwise I found the book to be a captivating and intriguing read and I will definitely be reading the other Files from the OWEA.

Usually I don’t like reading books that are part of a series, because if you haven’t read the other books, then you end up completely lost. Thankfully though, that was NOT the case with this book. Granted they do talk about things that I am assuming happened in the other books, but it was done in a way that you don’t end up confused.
I enjoyed that the book was more of a thriller than anything else. There was a ton of action that takes place, and it kept me turning the pages. I think that the characters were written very well, especially Beatrice. You couldn’t help but feel for her while she was going through dealing with the side effects of her “powers”.
Overall this was a very quick read and I did enjoy it. I will be sure to check out other books by the author in the future.

Okay guys first - I love Claude. I've wanted Allee to write a book about Claude's tortured past since book 1. She finally has and...well...I'm really glad he gets a crack at love. But I judge him pretty harshly for some of his past mistakes.
Straight up if your main issue with having a relationship is that you think you're too 'dark'? You've done bad things? Then either don't engage in an affair with your partner of all people or suck it up cupcake because you know what? That just is not cool.

In my review of Lycan Unleashed, the previous entry in the Files of the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency, I asked for Claude Desmarais’ story. I wanted to know exactly where, or at least why, the vampire kept having to leave his OWEA partner behind while he got dragged off for “vampire business”.
I certainly got my wish fulfilled in Vampire Games. The vampire business that Claude has been messed up in turned out to be not so much vampire business as monkey business, but he hasn’t been the instigator.
While Claude has been investigating a vampire gone wrong, someone else has been protecting that same vamp from the consequences of his evil ways. And it’s been some pretty high level influential protection. Claude knows that someone in the OWEA and in the Chicago Police Department’s Paranormal Unit is keeping his investigation from bearing fruit, so he isn’t sure who he really can trust.
So he goes off the reservation to the one person he knows won’t betray him, at least in an official sense. OWEA Agent Beatrice Davis may be the best psychometrist in the world. She can tell where any object has been and who last handled it. The problem with psychometry is that when you’re investigating murder, you handle a lot of objects that have been to a lot of bad places and been handled by a lot of evil people. It wears you down.
Bea Davis is on leave recovering from her last several cases. Claude shouldn’t be asking her to handle another job. Or another item used for ritual murder. He also shouldn’t be near her after he broke her heart years ago and stomped it into pieces. But he needs her help.
And he’s finally willing to admit that he just plain needs her. That he only let her go so abruptly because he didn’t want all the enemies he’d accumulated in his very long life to start going after her.
The first vision Bea gets from the object he shows her proves it’s much, much too late. His enemies have been screwing up her life long before she ever met him. Now they just need to face them together. But only if Claude can manage to look at all the evidence in front of him, instead of thinking that his old friend can’t possibly be a criminal just because he’s a friend.
That sort of thinking can get someone killed.
Escape Rating B : If you like urban fantasy with a heaping helping of paranormal romance, or the other way around, get yourself a copy of the first book in this series, Banshee Charmer, and start now. This series has great worldbuilding and while each book has its own self-contained story, it is very cool to see the overall picture put together.
Vampire Games is a “second chance at love” story. Bea and Claude, but especially Bea, have a hell of a lot of damage to overcome from that first try, and the author does an excellent job of making sure that the reader feels just how much pain Claude left her in when he stomped on her heart. She shouldn’t take him back, but we understand why she wants to. At the same time, we get a sense of why he left; loving him made them both vulnerable, and not just emotionally. Distance was both easier and safer.
It just also turned out to be stupid.
Because this is also an urban fantasy, there is a criminal case to be solved as well. Claude has been chasing down Nicolas Chevalier for years, trying to put together a case that will stick. The problem is that Nic is the son of a vampire Magister, and his father won’t accept anything less than an iron-clad case. So even though everyone knows that Nic is a sadistic psychopath, proving it is another matter. Especially since Nic usually strikes whenever his father sends Claude away from town on “vampire business”.
Claude is loyal to Luc, one of his oldest and dearest friends. He refuses to believe that Luc is the one making the evidence against Nic disappear, even as he manages to collect untainted evidence from outside the system. The depth of his loyalty was touching, but also reached the point of straining the imagination a bit. Or the lengths that Luc was willing to go to in order to protect his sociopathic killer of a son.
Somewhere between those two extremes, something was a bit off-kilter for me in the break-neck speed of the investigation.
But I loved the way the relationship teetered and swung and built between Bea and Claude. The way they both quickly and hesitantly reached toward something both new and old was marvelous.
I hope that more Files will be extracted from the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency.

This book is the fourth in the Files of the Otherworld Enforcement Agency Series. I have not read any of the other books in this series, and yet I did not feel lost in the slightest bit. I do think that if I had read the other books, I may have had a little bit more insight to their world, but I don’t feel like I missed out on anything. Allee did a good job of making sure this book was able to be read as a stand alone, but after reading Vampire Games, I think I would like to go back and read the rest of the series!
Beatrice has visions. She’s a psychometric. She can see psychic impressions left on objects after emotional events. This takes a huge toll on her mental state. Because of this, she is placed on leave of absence. She is supposed to be relaxing, but has become bored with sitting at home. When Claude shows up at her door asking for her help, you can tell she wants to tell him to piss off, but she doesn’t. The draw of the case is too much for her, and I’m sure it also has something to do with her past relationship with Claude.
Tiffany Allee has essentially written a paranormal crime drama, which is cool with me. It was like watching a cop show on television, but with vampires. There is someone using a brand to mark victims, but Beatrice and Claude must find out who and why. This book follows their investigation, uncovering betrayals and cover ups at every corner. There is plenty of interesting things going on to keep the reader’s attention. The climax was predictable in some ways, but only because of the clues the author has left throughout the book. There is something that happens that I didn’t see coming at all, but you will have to read it yourself to find out what that is. I do want to know what happens with Beatrice in the future.
There is definitely the underlying attraction that Beatrice is trying to avoid. She is a woman scorned and is afraid of being hurt again. She and Claude are both changed people for different reasons, and have grown as people in many ways. Their interactions are entertaining because Claude seems to be somewhat of a snark, and seems to be sweet underneath his tough cop exterior.

Their interactions are entertaining because Claude seems to be somewhat of a snark, and seems to be sweet underneath his tough cop exterior.
Overall, this was a pretty good book. The writing flowed nicely from one scene into the next, with nothing overly complicated. There was mystery and intrigue, romance and action. It is a nice afternoon read that keeps your attention until the end.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes crime type books.

This is the first Tiffany Allee book that I have read and I am definitely going on a search for the first three books in this series. I am sure I will enjoy these books plus it will give me more insight into the mind of this author and how she creates her worlds and her para and normal characters.
This book is the fourth in the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency series. As with the previous books, this is a combination of one cop, a Chicago Detective with their Paranormal Unit who is also a vampire, Claude Desmairis, and an OWEA Agent, psychometrist Beatrice Davis. These two have a history - they were paired up when Beatrice was still "a bright‑eyed, positive girl without a real clue about the world". They were also lovers for a time. Now, it had been six years since they had had any contact - personal or professional. So when Claude shows up at her door in the middle of the night, asking for her help, what else is she to do? Especially since she is two weeks into her minimum four‑week leave after a very difficult case and is essentially going stir‑crazy!
Because of what - or whom - Beatrice sees as she holds the evidence Claude has brought to her, she insists on following him back to Chicago and being involved in this case no matter what he says or wants. And so it begins....
The eternal dance between former lovers who have not resolved their feelings but must work together towards a common goal. This is a common theme in fiction - para or normal - but Ms Allee does it well here. She is able to show us how being with the other - even for a short time - had changed each of them. She also shows us how good they still fit together. Plus there is the whole vampires dying, mystery thing to solve as well - which was quite intriguing and at times, heart‑wrenching, as the lines between Master and subject, family and friend, are blurred. And the burdens of the past come hurtling towards them at breakneck speed, determined to settle things once and for all.
I found this book to be a solid 3 1/2 *** read. Better than 3 stars but not quite a 4 star for me.

After finishing this short novella and thinking about what I was going to write, I decided to check the first book in this series. Imagine my surprise when I realized I was thinking along the same lines of my
review of it.
I don't remember the plot of the first story, but idea (fake backdrop of detective/UF) and the type of characters are the same. We have a supposedly clever detective that never really shows her worth. A man that betrays her. A lukewarm romance.
The book starts with the heroine lulled by a former lover into helping him. We are never shown how bored she is or how necessary her works is to her life. Therefore her excuse for breaking the laws to help him is pretty lame. And worse is the romantic reason beyond it.
I found nothing romantic in a woman that has been humiliated by a lover but after six years is still in love. He needs only to touch her that she melts. There's never an apology from him, just an hint of regret. I felt no new kindling of passion. Everything is in the past (if it was).
He had no problem in leaving her, no problem in asking her to do some illicit work for him, no problem in betraying her. He doesn't believe her when she tells him what she saw. Why exactly this is called love is beyond me.
But then all characters are flat and cardboard from the mustache-twirling villain to the (of course) French-sounding vampire to the heroine. She is so real than when she loses everything at the end doesn't even twitch.

A short PNR novella with some crime solving in it. A nice plot, unfortunately marred by a clearly indicated suspect. Kiera is a nice character that would have deserved a better deployed story. As it is, she comes out stupid and trusting for a detective. [..] There's no way you let a man who lied to you, put you and your career in danger in your life. OWEA agent Beatrice Davis is on a leave from her job when Detective Claude Desmairis ask for her help in a case. She has a gift that will come in handy with this case. While she would rather stay busy helping Claude has a few problems. He is her ex lover and this case seems to have ties with someone from her brothers death. She has to work through her feelings for Claude and help sole the case. It is a dangerous case that has a vampire wanting to change things and it may be the death for Beatrice and Claude before they can have a future together.
Beatrice is someone who jumps into situations without thinking. She is good at her job but takes risk that put her in danger. She is smart, sexy and very stubborn. I liked her cause she does have a few flaws but never afraid to jump in and help when she cans. Claude is the sexy vampire who had a job to do. He is very loyal to his friends and doesn't want to believe anything bad about them. He is also fighting his feelings for Beatrice because he doesn't want anything to happen to her.
I have only read one other book by this author but I loved it. I have to say this is another one to add to the list of books I loved. I am going to get the other books the author has because I love the world she creates. She has wonderful characters that you grow to love and some to hate as you read. This book has danger in it as they are trying to solve the case. Both Claude and Beatrice have to face the fact that all they believe may not be true. They work well together most of the time. Sometimes they jump into things but it makes them more real. Along with vampires you get several other paranormal creatures to enjoy. Claude and Beatrice are very good together in other ways they just have to learn to trust each other and let go of the things keeping them apart. They have to fight for their lives and while I saw some of the ending coming I still highly enjoyed this book. If you want a great author to add to your auto read list put this one on yours I did. This is an amazing paranormal romance book with a great story.

I swear, I must have a beacon attracting me to non first books in a series...LOL. This book really can be a stand alone, they do make references to past events and people, but at no time did I feel lost.
This is the second book I have read of Ms. Allee's and I really enjoyed it. It is a quick read, and the action and story keep you interested until the end. I will go back and read the others in the series.
After years on not seeing each other Claude basically shows up on Beatrice's door step asking for her help as a Pyschometrist on a case he is working on. Long ago they had worked together and had an affair, and then to "protect" her, well of course the man did it badly...lol Claude has lots of regrets and Beatrice is trying to not get hurt again because she has never really stopped loving him. She is a strong character who holds her own against an alpha male, which I enjoy. We get hints about who is the person behind the brandings and killings, so you can figure out who it is, but it is an enjoyable mystery that keeps you entertained and reading. What happens at the ends was tense and little of a shocker.
Overall, a great book that I would recommend and will seek out the other books in the series.

Do you believe in second chances? If so, then you should read this book. Along with the romance it has plenty of action and a bit of a mystery. Vampire Games is the fourth book in the Files of the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency, but it can be read as a stand-alone story. This is the first book in the series that I’ve read, and I did not have any problems keeping up with what was happening. It kept me engrossed until the very end, but if you want to know what happened between Beatrice and Claude before this point, then you might want to read this series in order.
Beatrice Davis is an OWEA Agent, and deals with violent visions whenever she touches an item that was involved in a crime. She has been ordered to take some time off due to the stress of her job. When her vampire ex-lover, Claude knocks on her door she is a bit surprised but agrees to meet with him. After meeting with him and holding an object that he has with him she’s not sure if she can walk away without helping because the vision she sees is one she has been seeing for a very long time. Will Claude believe her when she tells him the person she sees is the man Claude would never suspect? Or betray.

OWEA (Otherworlder Enforcement Agency) Beatrice Davis is on a forced sabbatical from her job. She understands it's to prevent psychic and mental burnout, but that doesn't mean she has to like it. Her situation gets even worse when her ex lover, vampire and detective extrodinaire, Claude Desmairis shows up at her door needing her special talents to help catch a serial killer.
Claude Desmairis has two constants in his life, his job and his friendship with Luc Chevalier, the vampire Magister. He also lives with his heavy regret of how he ended his affair with Beatrice. This could be his opportunity to rekindle the flame with Beatrice, but when evidence starts to point towards Luc, he may have to choose between the two.
I had been hearing wonderful buzz from the blogosphere about this author. Being the last to find out something has never set well with me, so I immediately jumped on the chance to read this book. While I'm not a huge fan of stories told in first person, the actual story made up for that. Beatrice was a great heroine, tough, smart and with enough chutzpah to not fall immediately back into Claude's arms. The plot was a pretty decent mystery that keeps the reader guessing for most of the book. The emotional element was saturated with hurt, regret, compassion and an underlying longing. There was also redemption and forgiveness, with a lot of action and hot sex to spice things up. I truly enjoyed the characters and Tiffany's ability to spin a compelling story. However, I really, really, REALLY would have liked to have known what was going on in Claude's head. In the end, I am very happy with my decision to jump on Tiffany Allee's bandwagon. I definitely will be following this series.

I haven't read the first books in this series. I have been remiss! This was a great visit to the vampire world as created by Ms. Allee.
Beatrice can see the past when she touches objects, but only if there was a LOT of fear or hate or emotion near it. She's a bit burned out as what she sees most, in her job, is the moment of death for people. An old friend arrives with a branding iron. Beatrice sees the face of someone that had something to do with her brother's death. And Claude just doesn't believe it. He won't believe it!
Claude and Beatrice have to work together to stop the perp before the entire balance of human and vampire detente falls apart. There is a lot of UST here. And when it is resolved...wowza.

While Vampire Games is supposed to be a paranormal book revolving around vampires, it reads more like a regular mystery with a few fangs and mystical aspects thrown in the mix. Though there are a couple of good scenes, it is definitely not packed with action. Tiffany Allee is indeed a good story teller, just does not give enough detail to give the reader the since of urgency to find out what's going on, or to fall in love with the characters to care about what happens to them one way or the other.
Vampire Games had a lot of potential, but lacked the suspense, action and touch of magic needed when writing about the paranormal. Ancient vampires bring fangs, swords and/or battle axes to a fight, not a gun. And the "heroine" of this story makes you want to jump in and slap some since into her. Any investigator, whether on or off of a case, who works with "otherworlders" on a full time basis knows better than walk around, especially knowing a vampire may be after you, with no type of weapon whatsoever. At least have a can of mace, holy water, hell, even garlic. Something that doesn't make you scream out, "Walking victim here, please kidnap, bite or harm me at your will."

I have read several books by this author and I enjoy them more and more with everyone that I read. I love books with vampires and this author sure knows how to bring a whole new vampire to life.
Beatrice Davis works for the OWEA as an Agent. She is a psychometrist who can touch objects and get images off of them. It has it's downfalls though. She will always have the visions in her mind and they will always haunt her. She is on a leave of absence from work because of her job. She gets a knock on her door and see's the last man she thought she would ever see again. Detective Claude Desmairis.
Claude needs help on a case he is trying to break on his own. He doesn't want to think that his friend has anything to do with it. He remembers the relationship that he had with Bea six years ago and he regrets it. He wants another chance but he really broke Bea with the words that he said to her.
I enjoyed reading this book and having a vampire eating human food. That is what I love about this author. You never know what she is going to write about and she keeps you guessing. Claude Desmarais is a vampire cop. As a member of the Chicago Paranormal Unit, he’d solved several high-profile crimes that had made the national news. He's asked for help from Beatrice on a confidential, potentially hazardous problem. She sees a face from her past with her abilities and is drawn into the investigation. But it will be strictly hands off in terms of working with Claude. He hurt her in the past and she has no intention of revisiting that emotion.
Written in the first person format this intense paranormal mystery thriller was very interesting. This full depth world is well written with humans and non living together and an Otherworld police unit that monitors and investigates crime. I really liked the complexity of Beatrice although we find out very little about Claude which is a little lopsided. Perhaps his past will be in another book? Reminded me a little of writings by Jeannine Frost.
An interesting world I would revisit.

Agent Beatrice Davis is an agent for The Otherworlder Enforcement Agency. She can touch an object and see visions that help her solve crimes. She has been on leave. Her last case is still playing havoc with her senses, but she is restless. Work is her life. Things change when Claude Desmarais, a Chicago detective, arrives at her door with a branding iron that he needs her to check out. Her vision shocks her. It shows that there is a connection with her brother. Eddie vanished when she was 9 years old. She is determined to work with Claude, her former vampire lover, and get to the truth. Can these two reconcile their past and find a future together? Can they solve this deadly mystery before they are killed? This story is filled with so much danger and mystery. The action is non-stop and the surprises sneak up on you. Beatrice and Claude fight their attraction. They are still passionately in love but Beatrice is no damsel in distress. When this feisty lady tangles with Claude the sparks fly. He is a powerful Vampire who wants to protect her but she won't let him. I read this book in one sitting. It's that good.

This is the first in the series that I've read and I can say that I'm definitely not disappointed. I've always enjoyed books with Law enforcement agencies for the paranormal. So this was really neat. I really liked both of the main characters in this, Claude and Beatrice. You could definitely feel the chemistry between them. But Claude also really hurt Bea so you feel for her. The story was intriguing without being to dark. Bea can get visions from objects to help solve crimes. Claude comes to her off the books wanting her to see if she could see the person behind a series of murders. When Bea gets the vision the face she sees is someone that haunted her past. They both want to stop these crimes but Claude feels that her vision isn't right and Bea needs to find the truth. There's a lot of unresolved issues between them but still a friendliness and heat. It was an overall good book. I love all the different paranormal creatures that pop up. I will definitely grab the rest in this series.

This is the last book published in the Files from the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency series from Entangled Publishing. This was a satisfying end to the series (if it is the end; if not, I will be back for more). I am a little leery about vampires in romance due to consent/ and free will issues, but that issue was handled well in the book.
I liked the heroine (Beatrice, a psychometerist) and hero (Claude - local high ranking vampire) both as individuals and as a couple. The mystery isn't so much a police procedural (like in the other books), but rather finishing a longer, more complicated mystery that the previous books' mysteries were a smaller part of. It really was about going after and bringing the mastermind to justice, rather than his minions on the smaller mysteries. This mystery therefore also had more personal ties to the heroine and hero.
Note that Claude can walk around in daylight hours, so not really in line with traditional vampire mythology. Thankfully, he doesn't sparkle.

Really more of a 3.5 stars.
Love Tiffany Allee's OWEA books - but they are too short!
Claude and Beatrice were hot and heavy for a few weeks when they worked on a case a decade ago, she was a rookie, he was the experienced cop, and a vampire to boot. Then he left her after the case was closed with some BS line about a fling yadda, yadda.
Now he's back, asking for Beatrice's help to find a killer, can she put aside her feelings and help him? Since she is on leave from OWEA for burn -out, what else does she have to do?
Although this is the fourth OWEA book they do stand-alone. I didn't love Claude as much as I have some of Tiffany's other heroes - maybe because vampires have been done by everyone whereas in previous books she has involved Succubi and Salamanders!
Anyway, still on my auto-buy list and still on my pre-order list.

Beatrice works for the otherworld enforcement agency "OWEA" as there psychometrist. She can read the impression left on an object. Claude is a vampire and works as a Chicago detective in the paranormal unit "PNU". Claude brings Beatrice an object to read for him and he's the last person she wants to see after what happened between them years ago. Beatrice draws a picture of the man she sees from the object and Claude tries to hide his reaction. Beatrice has a feeling that Claude knows the person and she goes to Chicago to Claude's to find out. They both are trying to fight their feelings for each other. Beatrice is going to help Claude with the investigation, even if he doesn't like it. After they follow some leads and are getting closer, they get cornered and are having to fight their way out. Beatrice gets hurt bad and is dying. Claude changes Beatrice because he can't be without her.

This was the first book I have read by Tiffany Allee and I enjoyed it. It kept my attention and I found that it was an easy read that didn't contain anything that was too complex or dark. It was a light read with some mystery and suspense that I found was enough to keep my interest. The two main characters, Claude and Beatrice, do have a past and while the story did contain what I would call light romance it wasn't too intense or overly descriptive with the scenes.
This is a paranormal book with vampires, witches and other characters within the story that have supernatural abilities. I really enjoyed this book and I have recommended it to others as well. I did receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Beatrice sees visions that helps her solve mysteries. She is on a mandated leave to help save her sanity but her ex lover who is also a vampire comes to her for help she can't refuse him even though she would like to.
Claude is researching a series of murders under the radar as he believes there is a mole within his division. He needs Beatrice's help to see the murderer clearly.
She has never stopped loving him, and he realizes he should have never given her up. They fight crime and fight together. Great book.

Man is it HOT HOT HOT in here! I received an advanced copy of this book and it was amazing!! It was so great I had to purchase the other 3 books in the series I got HOOKED! I highly recommend that if you are going to read this book 1. You have nothing else planned for the day (it’s THAT good) and that you are comfortable because it gets down right MOLTEN HOT in some of the scenes you know you just read a smoldering sex scene when YOU want a smoke after reading it and this book had no shortages of those.

I received an ARC from Entangled Publishing for an honest review.
This book is packed with enough action, mystery, surprises, and romance that I'm surprised I didn't combust. The attraction between Beatrice and Claude was painful to read about without screaming at my e-reader, telling these two characters to just admit it already and get it over with!
This was a delicious paranormal romance novel to read in one sitting.

As with all the authors OEA books I truly enjoyed it! Claude and Beatrice's relationship keeps you on edge and rooting for some action. The storyline was complete..fun...had me reading this book in one day. In order for a book to work you need sexy..interesting characters...√

Another great book by Tiffany Allee. I have loved all the books I have read from her. I will definitely be reading more in this series.

The Basics:
This is the fourth and final novella in the series, but it does stand alone. Mostly. Events from Lycan Unleashed are mentioned, but you don't need to have read it to understand this plot. However, if you do read the books out of order, this one will spoil that one a bit.
My Thoughts:
Vampire Games would have been my favorite if it was longer. As it is, it is sadly my least favorite of the bunch. It's still not bad, but there are so much goodness happening that didn't get fully explored! For one, vampires are my favorite paranormal entity, so it was already winning on that front. I wish we had gotten to learn more about them beyond they drink blood and give off an aura of fear. But the sex scenes between Claude and Beatrice were great, because I love a good bite!
The mystery of Vampire Games was more complicated than the previous three books. This definitely needed more page time to fully wow me. There were too many moving parts to cram in less than 200 pages on top of the second chance romance. Beatrice is a psychometrist, which means she gets visions of death from touching a victim's possessions. She's been haunted by the face of a vampire for her entire like when her brother disappeared. Now, that same face appeared on a new case. However, Claude is adamant that her vision doesn't mean what she thinks it means. Then there's a lot of twists and turns, and back and forth, but at that point we already knew who dun it.
I just wish Vampire Games had been longer so I could really get invested. There's a lot of good and interesting stuff going on, but only superficially. It's all glossed over and rushed.
