I have come to see the thought process that has went through in the heads of many animation directors, producers and creators.Looking at techniques is not enough. We have to ask ourselves why do we do what we do, and not blindly do what others are or have been doing. The artists and animators featured in this books are astounding. They are not only creative but innovators of storytelling, art directing, animation, and techniques. A common thing about them is, they work their techniques for their animation, not animation for the techniques. A must read!!
A pretty good rundown of the working processes of a handful of independent animators, mostly working in the realm of personal animation (as opposed to studio work). The book represents a nice swath of styles and techniques, mostly traditional but also some digital work. Enjoyable format, will have to look for the other titles in the series (and track down some of the more obscure shorts that are detailed).
