~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Pre Teens- One Star New Teens- Two Stars Early High School Teens- Three Stars Older High School Teens- Four Stars My personal Rating- Three Stars This mystery kept me interested because I wasn’t sure how it was going to play out. It was a little rushed at the end, but other than that, it was an interesting story.
This takes place in August in Massachusetts and New Jersey. The story is about drugs, smuggling, a boat, a marina, and a missing person. I had the mystery mixed up. I thought it was going to be one thing, but it ended up something different. There is also an issue with a cat. It was a minor part of the story. I thought it would be bigger than it was.
Another easy to read, enjoyable cozy mystery from Guideposts. This one focuses on a disappearing neighbor of Mary's who might be involved in importing illegal items from Europe.
The things that people do when they are in financial trouble amazes me. They do all kinds of illegal things instead of trying to figure legal ways to help themselves. I'm also a little bothered by Mary's lack of interest in being a business owner. She seems much more interested in sleuthing than actually working at her store.
Overall this is a fantastic series! The characters are quirky and fun, and relatable. I really enjoy reading book series that are light, funny, and share much needed lessons. Set in an idyllic setting, I can picture it clearly due to the all the details provided. All of the books in the series hold my attention - I don't want to put them down until I know how the mystery ends!
From the beginning this book was very suspenseful! Mary's neighbor, Cathy has gone missing. Mary is determined to find her. Meanwhile, Mary's sister Betty is helping a couple to redecorate their house. Does this tie into Cathy's disappearance? Read this really good book to find out.
It was good, wasn't in the mood to read it so I read it quickly. Christian mystery series set at a bookshop in a small town. Most in this series has been more like either a treasure hunt, uncovering secrets but no real danger, THIS one actually had a bit of danger element but towards the end but wasn't too over the top. I'm still wanting more Game of Thrones book so I got one today that is in the series but the events take place 100 years before. I want more danger elements, but Reading Between The Lines is a cozy book with tea and cakes on the side if you want an easy read.
This is the best of the Guideposts "Secrets of Mary's Bookshop" series, much darker than most of them. It involves an actual crime, when Mary's neighbor goes missing, and Mary is afraid she's been kidnapped - or worse. There are the usual false leads and wrong assumptions of course, leading to a somewhat unexpected ending, but Mary's faith (and good friend, Henry) sustain her in the end. I actually found it hard to put down.
#9--This mystery is up to Mary to solve on her own, Gus is not feeling well and is staying at the vet. As the vet conducts tests to find out why our favorite cat, Gus, is sick, Mary must find where her next door neighbor, Cathy, seems to be missing. Her list of those involved is pretty long and Henry comes to her rescue at the end with his sailing knowledge and friendship.
I think I'm done with this series, sad to say.... I was crazy for the Patchwork Mysteries, and a number of these books are written by the same authors, but I just find Mary to be nosy and irritating.
