Sebastian Boa defies all the rules. There isn't a woman who doesn't want the notoriety of being in his bed. When he crosses paths with Mariss Red at one of his clubs, his interest is quickly piqued, and he sets out to make a play for the confident beauty. But Mariss is married, and she has no desire to lose what she loves for a one night stand with the indulgent playboy.
When an attempt is made on Mariss' life, Sebastian rushes to her side. Those closest to him know that it's only a matter of time before his new infatuation causes him to crash and burn.
For a man who lives on the edge, the Rules of the chase become clear at the start. If he wants to win Mariss, he will have to play on her turf. Boundaries and all. The harder Sebastian tries, the more Mariss refuses, and the harder it gets to keep his control. The Man Without Rules finds himself changing to be worthy of the one woman who has ever told him no.

FREEBIES are often good for MORE than one day, I have gathered all my FREEBIES on a special shelf: Kindle-freebies (currently over 500 books) https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Company names and musical acts are italicized. Something about the heroine pulls at the hero, when he literally just saw her two seconds ago across a crowded room. Hero owns a yacht called The Phall-acy.
I am really not sure what I just read, but somehow I've gotten sucked into reading The Red Wife because I need to know if Red and Bassy get together and if she can save him.
I hated Sebastian the majority of this book. I don't want to read a book where I can't stand the H and almost DNF this book. Finally when he had seemed to grow, I started to feel like he loved Red and the read had been worth my time. But then, the ending was abrupt and out of nowhere and I hated him again.
I felt like we were left with more questions than answers, and while I'm giving the next book a try (I was promised that it is MUCH better than this one), I can honestly say I didn't like 80% of this book. The two stars is for the other 20% I did like.
Overall this novel had so much potential but I was left feeling confused and frustrated because it fell seriously short.
Lord have MERCY!! Where do I begin? How can I properly convey how utterly fantastic this book was? I was all hot and bothered almost 90% of this book for crying out loud! I very rarely read erotica that involves any sort of fetish. I find that they are very...what's the word....over-exaggerated. I may be wrong but I know nothing of play and all that jazz. It was the total opposite with this one. I felt strangely connected to both of these characters that had such depth to them. It's very rare that I love both characters in the story. There's usually something about one of them that pisses me off. These two...perfect! Sebastian Boa isn't just the man whoring model that everyone makes him out to be. There's a soft side inside that hard shell and you get to see bits and pieces of it along the way. That man is a walking orgasm. And did I mention that he has a floor to ceiling library? Oh, I didn't? :::queue panty drop::: Mariss Red definitely has some spunk to her. How she could resist not humping that man was beyond me. Goodness gracious, I feel the need to fan myself just thinking about the sexual tension between these two. But Mariss is a married woman with no intention of leaving her husband. Steel resolve....more than me. I was a puddle of goo.
The best part about this book is that it was everything but predictable. I had no idea where this relationship was heading and it certainly did not end up where I thought it would. I sometimes have trouble with books and their "timeline," so to speak. Some books just seem rushed. The Man Without Rules was a fine wine aged to perfection! I could almost feel Sebastian's walls crumbling down the more time he spent with Mariss. It started off with a sex scene that will have you panting! There was a lot of that angst that I so love in my romance novels. Seriously...these two together are sizzlin'! I always appreciate an author that can write these steamy masterpieces that keep me begging for me...and I did...beg that is. She better write fast.
I enjoyed this book, kept me up at night, and considering I finished it at 2am and immediately started the next part of the series, I can't but admit its worth. I am a sucker for threesomes (DP FTW) and strong individuals, heroes and villains alike. I also adore multi-layered characters, ones you can't decide whether you love them, hate them, or love to hate them. And this amazing story had just the right ones.
So Sebastian is a model with a brain and business acumen. He owns a BDSM club, and runs charities helping abused women and children, especially in the model industry. He is also an inescapable Casanova, a playboy of international tabloid proportions. He is smug, he is arrogant, he is irresistible when he bites his lower lip. Mariss Red, self-created publishing persona, tough as nails and way too witty for her own good, goes into his club with her husband Holden, basketball player, and possessive. The threesome that follows had me wondering where can I find my own club owner and basketball player. And Sebastian follows Mariss ever since.
There is just one problem. Mariss loves her husband immensely. Absolutely. Non-negotiably. And she makes it perfectly clear from the start as well: she and Sebastian can enjoy their little flirt-and-lift-up-your-skirt moments, but her heart belongs to Holden. And time and time again, she proves it. So what business does this incorrigible Don Juan de Marco have, falling in love with her? And when jealousy rears its ugly head and the past comes back to haunt you, can you still maintain your defences intact?
Threesomes are thin ice for most couples, especially M-F-M ones. Jealousy, possessiveness, timidity and the occasional "am I a slut"/"am I not enough" feeling are enough to deter most. Yet this story portrays quite a healthy approach, and despite Bassy's infatuation and the Hell Hellena raises as a result, for me it proves that three is not a crowd, but a fabulous party.
I really really liked this book. I immediately found relatable elements on each character, and understood their motives, their fears, their wishes and their absurdity at times. I liked the cat-fights, I liked the sex scenes, I liked the flirting and the defiance (vive la resistance!). I liked the intrigue, the lies, the scheming and the drama (yes! I even liked the drama - there must be something wrong with me).
I had a bit of trouble with the dialogue sometimes. Not because it wasn't smart, fast or spot on, but because at points it felt too smart, too fast. It felt like the author was trying too hard to push her characters out of their way to one-up each other. While for most of the book I was rooting for their witty comebacks, at some point I got just a little tired of it. It was just a bit too... much. Not every word that comes out of one's mouth can be snarky, smug or loaded with innuendos.
Also I wish I could put my finger on it, but there was a subliminal tediousness in the phrasing and the setting. That one, I can't explain any better unfortunately. I wasn't bored in the least, but I did wish "it" to be over so I could get to the root of the scene again. Yet as you can see, what I didn't like about this book in no way deterred me from not rating it its well-deserved 5 stars.
And Juliet deserves one star on her own. Mucho adore!
This book was okay. I didn't really connect with the characters it seemed like both of them lacked the ability to talk and instead just got really annoyed with the other one. Although Mariss was constantly saying how loyal she was to her husband she seemed to give it up easily and seemed like a giant flirt. Sebastian was so blind to everything. How he was running in essence a sex club yet he couldn't read people was amazing. I don't think I'll be reading more in this series.

NOTE: This review may contain a few minor spoilers, so please proceed with caution.
I just finished reading this book and I must say that I’m completely…stunned by it. I’m so stunned that I really don’t know what to say, so bare with me here.
I don’t write a lot of books reviews. In fact, I only write a book review if I feel that the book was amazing or touched me in some way. I decided to review this book because…well, it was a very, very strange (unique) read.
The most unique thing about the book is that it’s written entirely from the male character’s (Sebastian’s) POV. Now, I’ve read A LOT of romance novels, but I must say that this book is the ONLY one that I’ve ever read that is written entirely from the male’s perspective. I really enjoyed that aspect of the book. In fact, I enjoyed that part so much that I hope some people will private message me with other books that are written ENTIRELY from the male’s perspective. Seeing the whole story through Sebastian really made me think about things in a different way than I do when I read a female POV. I tend to understand female motivations better than I do a male’s, so being privy to a guy’s thoughts, feelings, and desires really enhance the reading experience. Plus, it forces you to consider things from their perspective. I honestly just think I like the challenge.
Another thing that I have to mention is that the “relationship” between Sebastian, Mariss, and her husband is anything but traditional. I wouldn’t call this book a ménage book (even though it occurs in the book more than once). No, this book is about a woman who is love with two different men (Sebastian and her husband) and she doesn’t quite know what to do with it. Sebastian is as clueless as Mariss is in this aspect. He isn’t even emotionally aware of himself before meeting her, so their whole “relationship” throws him for a loop. This book definitely treads the thin line between fidelity and infidelity. The relationship itself is an interesting one to sit back and examine at length…. it’s one that you probably haven’t previously encountered in your reading.
Now, onto the good stuff…. Sebastian is hot…hot like the sun…a definite panty dropper. However, his attitude makes him grossly unattractive in my book…at least in the beginning. Sebastian is the kind of man that is very physically self-aware…he’s hot and he knows it. Women want him….and he knows it. He’s wonderful at reading a woman’s body language and then using that knowledge to his advantage. He’s also very confident, cocky, and downright arrogant. He doesn’t believe in love or even feelings, so he never takes them into consideration. He’s actually pretty selfish. However, to be fair I must say that his character undergoes a great deal of maturity and development as the story progresses. The reader can actually see and quantify his changes in attitude and behavior. In the end your heart will definitely break for him because he’s opened himself up to Mariss only to realize that opening himself up will only get him hurt…it makes him vulnerable.
Mariss is the female lead and she’s an interesting character. I must say that she’s an enigma, which I found amusing because usually the male character is the enigma. Anyway, she’s a very strong female character and you’ll love her, but also know that she’s damaged and not your average woman…she’s a strange one and Sebastian has a heck of a time trying to wrap his head around her. It’s actually very entertaining and heartbreaking to read.
The plot was excellent. It kept me engaged from the first page and didn’t really disappoint. The only issue that I had is that Hellena’s character is very predictable, so there were no surprises on her end. Aside from that…the story was impeccable. It’s engaging, it’s non-traditional, and it’s in a class all it’s own. The story also had an emotional element…you’ll laugh, cry, and become angry and frustrated. It’s truly a rollercoaster ride, but it’s worth it.
I give this great book four stars. The only reason it didn’t get five was because it just ended with no sort of resolution, which was unfortunate. I do realize that this book is part of a series, but some resolution would have been nice. However, I’m greatly anticipating the next book and I really hope the author continues the story in Sebastian’s POV.
By the way, I’m pretty sure that Mariss’ husband, Holden, is an ass (and I was rooting for Mariss to leave him and get with Sebastian).
Sebastian Boa is a male model, actually hes a male SUPER Model. Hes basically sexy on a stick or is it with a stick I dont fecking know. He knows the effect he has on women and uses it to his advantage. He uses them like tissues. Well except for Helena (to an extent). She is basically his right hand, she’s always ready for him. Yeah, they have an interesting dynamic. Sebastian has his eye set on a married woman.. Mariss Red (Scandalous I know. But give it a chance or give my review a chance.) And when she and her husband Holden walk into Sebastians swingers club well he is more than accommodating especially when he hears they are looking for a third. With that beind said I feel I must say this book isnt about cheating clearly as I just explained to you this was a decision made by all parties. We are all grown here folks. Mariss and Holden have an open relationship when it comes to Sebastian. There are rules. Also in case you missed the on on this one its Erotica. A very well written erotica but we will get back to that. Sebastian develops feelings and that causes some problems. Although to be honest there really is a lot of issues. Open relationships can be messy. The Man Without Rules is surprisingly full of drama just when you think Kemp was going to give her characters a break HAHA jokes on you shes not. I may have yelled at her a few times while reading I even tried to coax some info from her to no avail. Personally, I could’ve used more sexy time. But hell its a series and blow their load too early right? Again I felt the writing was wonderful. And the story was strong. At first I wanted to peg Boa an asshole. But slowly I started to understand and sympathize with him. I literally was captivated with the book. And I pouted a bit when it was over. Can the next book just be out yet?!
GENRE: Manwhore falls in love; cheating (BE WARNED!)
LENGTH: good length; 362 page
MAIN CHARACTERS: Mariss Red: Married woman who has a deep secret past and falls in love with another man, Sebastian Boa. Sebastian Boa: Playboy model who finally met his match with Mariss and fights falling in love with her. Holden Red: Mariss's husband who is very lenient and likes to make his wife happy. Hellena: an employee and close friend of Sebastian's. She is also deeply in love with Sebastian.
LIKES: The connection between Mariss and Sebastian How tough Mariss is The male POV throughout the book
DISLIKES: The back and forth between Mariss and Sebastian Hellena The time jumps Sebastian's playboy ways The frustrating end!
OVERALL THOUGHTS ABOUT BOOKS: I am confused to whether or not I really like the book but I'm leaning towards liking it. The back and forth between on both parts from Mariss and Sebastian was incredibly annoying. Mariss was trying to be "loyal" to her husband be I don't understand why she thought some things were okay and something weren't. I was also irritated with Sebastian pushing away Mariss because he was afraid of falling in love. I just wanted them to get together already! Don't get me wrong, I do love drama and angst but this bordered on way too much! This book does suck you in, especially with the ending. I definitely need to read the sequel now.
STEAM LEVEL: Very steamy!
DOES IT END IN A CLIFFHANGER?: YES! >:x!
FAVORITE QUOTES: Nothing really quotable
FINAL RATING: 3.25 stars
WOULD I RECOMMEND?: eh, its not really something to run to read but if you start it, it is really hard to stop.
Fast paced and action packed. Intrigue and mystery. This book will have you hot under the collar one moment and sitting on the edge of your seat the next. A hot little romance that's enjoyable from cover to cover.
This a great story with lots of ups and downs and twists and turns. All of the characters, not just the leads, but also the supporting cast are compeling characters with depth. The story progresses at a steady pace and keeps the reader hooked with each page.
Mariss and Holden are a happily married couple. One fateful night, while seeking adventure, their relationship crosses paths with Sebastian and none of them will ever be the same. This is a love triangle that is filled with lust, passion, confusion, decisions and torment. Add to this that both Mariss and Sebastian have pasts and secrets and you get a tsity-turning story that you aren't quite sure where the end will take you.
I loved it from the start and I can't wait to learn more about everyone and see where their paths lead.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I love the way the author decided to have the cover designed, especially since within the book you read that Sebastian Boa is always in a suit, and the color contrast is gorgeous. Sebastian Boa is one of the main characters in this novel and he is definitely steamy in all concepts from the way he looks all the way to the way he handles himself behind closed doors. He does not abide by any rule, at least which is until his rules start to slowly crumble once he has a run in with Marissa Red. His main business is to appease to the sexual taste of those that come to his club. He has this naughty sexy playboy persona that does not believe in love; and helps other’s fantasies come true in the bedroom either by himself or those that in the club. Marissa Red has had always one fantasy, and with the help of her husband it is filled. However, all parties quickly realize that the one-time thing may not be enough. Sebastian and Marissa in my opinion have a tension of sexual frustration that they continuously want to fill but due to Marissa being married (as stated in the description) it is a constant pull. Sebastian wants more than the one night, and he has to agree to terms. You start to see a softer side to Sebastian as he tries to win over Marissa. A novel would be boring without some of the other characters that spruce up a good book; well you meet Marissa’s husband and Helen who both play a major part in the book. Helen is Sebastian’s helper and of course you could consider her a mistress; however, a women scorned will definitely pull out her claws and bring out a darker side. The book is a continuously page by page turning event of pure delight. This was the first book I have read from Ms. Kemp and I will have to say I was not disappointed, what I truly love about an erotic book is that nothing is left out in the details, and she DID NOT leave anything out. If I could I would give it higher than a 5. The book in my opinion was very highly written and did not lack for anything. It does have a cliffhanger so I will definitely be looking forward to the next one! I absolutely loved the raw tension and sexual scenes she put in the book, of course she even found room to show how someone can change and start feeling.
It was fabulous! Thanks now go read it. Just kidding but really.. I am partially serious. One word - HOT! Yes this book melts the pages and sizzles in your hands. I am not even going to get started on what it could or could not do to other parts of your body. Sebastian is perfection. He oozes sex from every pore. He is misunderstood and kind, hidden behind a man whore persona. He is sweet, as I read the story and I got to see more of him I fell into lust/love more and more. I also must say I enjoyed the leading lady. She had moxie and I felt it page after page. I loved reading her. She was a tough cookie. Mariss and I could so be friends. She was strong and tough and yet ... well I just loved her. It is not normal for me not to want to sucker punch and attack at least one of the characters in a book. This is history in the making right here. I loved them both! The two of them together - see the above mentioned HOT... holy mother of all that saves us. I think I needed ice cold baths at points of this book. I have been ill and I wonder partially if it was illness or this book simply given me hot flashes. This book gave me just what I needed. A storyline that I adored. I never felt like it was rushed and I took pleasure in reading both characters and getting inside their heads. I am giving this one five fabulous and sexy kisses from beginning to end. I am a new fan .. I want more... I will beg if needed. Wow is it hot in here? Oh no I am just thinking about this one scene in the book where .......... OMG read this book. NOW!!
There are no rules in this book. It is non-stop heat from start to finish. I loved how readers are thrust right in to the story and get steamy action right from the get-go. Still, even with that, the author didn’t spare any details when it came to character development or the story line. It was well-rounded and fun to read.
The author also did an amazing job of making the leading man a character that you felt empathy for where in most cases in reality you wouldn’t. He was every bit the part of the ‘big player with lots of money’ type, cold, calculating to a degree and definitely not of a mind that he had to apologize for anything, and yet, there was a connection and a feeling behind all that so it was possible to understand him and feel his personality. The counterpart to the strong and ever powerful stud Sebastian Boa is equally compelling.
Mariss Red is a high profile power woman who is the perfect challenge for a man who has few equals. If you’re looking for that romantic happily ever after, you may have a little trouble with an ending that feels like the powerful, beautiful people keep on going same as always. The Man without Rules isn’t a romance. It’s full of twists and turns, and excels as a hot and heavy look into the lives of the rich, powerful and sexy people often flaunt the rules, break them and have to find ways around the consequences.
This has to be one of the worst books I have read. In fact, I had to ask myself why I was still reading this book every time I picked it up. My answer, because I couldn't believe that something so bad could be written. It was like watching a train wreck happening and I couldn't believe my eyes. The free price is actually too much to pay. I'm not sure if anyone proof read this book. The story is just plain dumb. The author tried too hard with a bad story line and failed in my opinion. Nothing is believable throughout the entire book. Who gets turned on by sucking the salt off the skin of the person they are f**king? And really, a top male model owns a flat in London and New York and two clubs. Oh, and a private jet too. I didn't realized that male models made that kind of cash. The whole Englishman thing did not come off well at all. The sex scenes were terrible. The characters lacked any depth. I felt no connection to any character in this book. I wasted my time reading this, don't waste yours. 300 pages too long.
You will either love or hate Sebastian Boa if you read this book. I absolutely loved him. Sebastian is a man that doesn't care about the rules and makes his own. He's a big-time playboy with looks to kill. He leaves women lying in his wake. But once he faces his biggest challenge yet, he can't get his mind off of it.
Mariss Red is a strong, independent woman that loves to hate Sebastian. She is married to her husband and plans to stay that way. This requires her to deny Sebastian's advances time and time again.
As time goes on, Sebastian and Mariss form a bond. But with this bond comes great risk to Mariss' marriage as well as her life.
This is an amazing story that I couldn't put down... but wood of advice, have the second one ready RIGHT AWAY. :)
The beginning of this book I was introduced to a man that I didn't have much of an opinion of. I wasn't impressed. I thought he was just your typical main male character. Hot, good looking, muscular, large (ahem) "unit", rich, male model of the year, yadda yadda, and blah blah blah. Slowly, chapter by chapter his layers are peeled off. Laid out in the open. I got lost in the story of The man without rules. I was surprised to find myself rooting for Sebastian Boa. This unique story has a way of showing us each character's vulnerability. I'm still left reeling how it ended. A bit of a cliff hanger but not so much as a hint of where this story is going. I kind of felt like I was left staring at my kindle like Sebastian was left standing in his foyer.
A married woman and her husband have a three some with the owner of a club for these types of things. The one night turns into want for the owner and the attraction the wife has for him is undeniable. They both see it and so does the husband. Oddly enough he is not the mystical, the club owners assistant and long time friend are. Throw in some old Russian mobsters brought out by a phone call from the assistant and a past life the wife thought had went away this story is a lot of stuff to handle. The CLIFFHANGER is there! And it looks like it will be for the next book as well. This looks to be a three part story but after reading the third book synopsis I don't think I really want to move forward with this series.
I found myself rushing to get threw it. It started off good then it went bad and never got better. Bash fell for a married woman and had sex with this married woman even with her husband listening and watching. I just don't get the meaning behind this book. Maris told Bash she would never leave her husband for him that she was in love with her husband. If she is so in love with her husband why is she having sex with another man. In the end nothing was resolved well accept him get rid of Helena.
Read for honest review: Well this book was hot and steamy. But Bash was a little over the top with Red and his not letting her go. But I guess her saying no was the reason he wanted her more. I wish there was more about the children in the book, but I guess that was just to give us a hint to what type of man he is. Even though he uses women like tissues. I loved the book and can't wait to read part 2. Thank you.
OMG! This is the first book I've read from this author and I absolutely loved it!! Sebastian is an incredibly sexy man who is used to getting whatever/whoever he wants so when he meets Red he is immediately drawn to her resistance. Marris Red is a very attractive, and powerful woman and it seems as if in meeting her, Bash has met his match! A must read! Starting Red Wife right now!!!
What!? Wow. This is the first time reading this author. She can write some hot scenes. Emotionally I am back and forth. She had me hooked into wanting to know what happens next.
The book has some mistakes, words that are misspelled and some punctuation problems. Although there are errors they do not completely ruin the book. Holden the husband is away a lot due to playing professional Basketball, I found some of those areas impossible to believe. Yes Basketball players do travel, but many times wives go to show support, Kemp never spoke of Mariss going to a game or even reflecting on games she maybe attended in the past. I understand that Kemp wanted to make a book that had the temptation seeping through, but some moments were a little predictive. I did continue and finish the series, if you want to find out what happens to Sebastian, Mariss, and Holden I don't think it will be a complete waste of time. Let me know what you guys think. Do you want spoilers, more information, would you like a summary type of review on the next two books? Will you pick up the book, or is this a pass? If you've read the book/series did you fall for Sebastian? Did you understand the struggle Mariss had? Would you knowingly cheat? Comment below. ~T~
I resisted this book for quite a long time thinking it would be like many other books I've read. Man, was I wrong. This book was intriguing and captivating. It was heart breaking and full of hope. In other words, it was an emotional roller coaster ride, but one I'm extremely glad I finally decided to take on. I whole heartedly recommend this book and personally can not wait to read the rest of the series!
I can't think of a troupe I like less. Model trying to break up a happily married couple. Said model has 'relations' with everyone he meets. Cheating, threesomes, etc. No emotional connection, shock factor only for sake of shock factor.
