Thanks for buying this satirical and farcical comedy! Unless of course you haven't yet, and you're one of those people who hops from book cover to blurb and back again, only to wander off without buying what could quite possibly be the first book in ages that really makes you laugh! In that case, take the leap of faith. Put your proverbial hand in your pocket, click the 'buy now with 1 click' button and get involved! Why? Because ‘Extremely England’ is a naughty novella full of farcical fun! And if you have a sense of humour that likes the occasional tickling, you'll love it... Bobby Saint is in line for promotion. He is widely regarded as Britain’s best policeman, as well as being good friends with Mayor Terrence Thatcher, the man to assign the job of ‘Top Copper’ to whom he believes most suitable. But Harriet Plebb, ex-Big Brother winner and strong candidate to be the next Prime Minister, along with her power-hungry husband, Edwin, a human rights lawyer, has other ideas... In order to win votes from a certain section of the voting public, the Plebbs blackmail the mayor into giving the job to an unknown candidate of their choice. Due to fear of humiliation and the probability of losing his wonderful wife, the mayor cannot bring himself to spill the beans to his old friend, Bobby. After some scandalous defamation of his character, the out of favour policeman then has to rely on his hopeless journalist wife, Maggie, and her lay-about brother, Guy, to help him bring down the criminal masterminds and stop the corruption, thus claiming his rightful place at the top of Britain’s Police Force. Contains rude and crude humour - Not for the easily offended!

"I love the creation of stories, and although I spend days and weeks and months working on a plot, it's the emotions of my characters that I enjoy delving into.
My first published novel, 'Get Clean', really has my heart and soul poured into it. Although I feel a bit naked by putting a story out there that contains so much of my life, I'm happy with the book, and a little proud of my first writing achievement.
Also available is 'Son of a Serial Killer'. This story was born in my mind when I was going through a difficult phase in my life. I felt let down by the person closest to me, and I was angry and upset. What better way to expel those emotions than to throw them into a book? The story itself isn't based on my life like my previous novel, but the emotions captured within the pages are feelings I had to battle with for far too long.
My third release, 'Extremely England', is something completely different. It's a satirical comedy poking fun at society and the way it is portrayed by the media - I enjoyed writing something that wasn't so dark for a change if I'm honest!
I am a big film fan, and would have to admit that I have an eye on the 'filmability' of my stories when writing them. One day..."
Extremely England by Jams N Roses is a laugh out loud novella that I could not put down until the last page. I must admit I had difficulty reading it with tears of laughter blurring my vision. James has created a masterful classic that epitomises the class difference still pervasive in British society, much in the style of Tom Sharpe, although this reader enjoyed this far more. This scathing tease has a neat premise - bent politician wants to be bent Prime Minister and will stop at nothing to gain that powerful position with kinky sex, murder plots unparalleled since Guy Fawkes, sex mad Mayor, corrupt reporters bending a story for sensationalism and of course our hero, the straight as an arrow cop who is due to become Commissioner until his life is destroyed by all the rest just mentioned. Can the cop's loving wife and demented brother save the day? The hilarious scenes are piled one after another in a relentless barrage that will have any reader falling off their chair. This FIVE STAR fantasy satire is highly recommended.
"Extremely England" by James N. Roses is a funny satire. It is witty at times, sarcastic and farcial at others, and revolves around a group of characters involved in politics, journalism and the police force. It is a clever story with some amusing twists, all surrounding an upcoming election in the UK. With sharp observational skills Roses depicts modern live in England with some of its absurdities and hypocrisies. If you live in the UK as I do you are bound to find this as amusing as I did.
Oh I so needed this. Satire and silly are definitely still alive. Thank goodness. Thoroughly enjoyed every page. Always something to smirk and smile at. I want more daftness!
Always tongue in cheek, this story had me laughing out loud on the train on my way to work in the mornings. There is an element of mystery to the storyline, but it's just good fun to be honest. The characters were all great, even the 'bad guys' who were parodies of real politicians and greedy lawyers. The hero, Bobby, was a bit of a wet blanket - but that worked well and allowed his two sidekicks, Maggie and Guy, to shine through. Overall, it is entertaining and easy light-reading that should put a smile on your face.
I laughed out loud so many times when reading this book. The characters are great caricatures of the politicians, police and journalists that we've growm to live and hate in equal measure in the UK. There is a plot to this story, it is a mystery really, but it isn't to be taken too seriously. It's really good fun and I recommend it.
I liked 'Extremely England' a lot. The humor ranges from slapstick to sarcasm and everything in-between. There is a good range of characters that keep the storyline moving. A real, humorous book that had me laughing a lot.
This book was quite a change from the last book I read by this author. I was laughing all the way throughout this one! Steve and the hamburger buns was my all time favorite part! Thanks for brightening up my day! But my favorite character was Maggie and all of her doodling.
A tongue-in-cheek comedy that had me laughing out loud. One to read if you aren't afraidto laugh at some silly humour! A light-hearted mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Very funny. A well written farce that only slips into silly a few (well done) times. And you don't need to know anything about British politics to enjoy it.
“Extremely England" by Jams N. Roses is clever, witty, and very funny at times. I love the author’s sarcastic look at the British society and all the fun twists he put in the plot. It’s a light-hearted tale of absurdism, hypocrisy, and convoluted politics.
If you have ever lived in a country that held any kind of elections – and that’s a lot of countries! -- you will enjoy this book. One of my favorite lines in the book is a description of the moment when one of the characters “saw Bobby’s hope of promotion disappear in a big cloud of Arabic smoke.”
I really enjoyed all the clever and funny turns of phrase in this book. Very entertaining.
The half hour I spent reading this to try to understand why anyone would recommend it is a half hour I will never get back in my life. This was not funny, not well written, and not even mildly interesting to me. I guess TNAFT...mine or anyone else's. Ordinarily I don't publish bad reviews because I think writers deserve credit for putting in the work. But this book was not only bad but offensive in its gender and racial stereotyping.
Trying to figure out why anyone wasted their time writing this drivel. I pretty much had the premise worked out by the second chapter. Sorry I wasted my time.
