She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.
She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.
Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She’s taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.

Millie is just 18 when she first meets John Fant under dire circumstances when her father is killed in mining accident in a mine owned by the Fant family of Cupid, Texas. Despite that, Millie feels an instant connection to John, he makes her feel things she can't even explain.
The Fant family is far from a stuck up, snobby rich family. They genuinely seem to care about everyone else and offer Millie a job as a maid to John's sister and her family in Cupid. Even though it means moving away from her own family, Millie jumps at the offer of a job.
The more Millie sees of John, the more he makes her heart race...she is more and more drawn to him even though she knows she shouldn't be. There is no way someone of his social standing would end up with the maid. When Millie finds out John is betrothed to another, she is devastated...for she had been concluding that John had feelings for her too. John is a good man, but he feels obligated to his betrothed.
Having learned the legend of Cupid, the eve before John's wedding Millie writes a letter and pleads with Cupid for her one true love...even knowing it is just legend. Will John follow through with his wedding to someone he is merely fond of or will true love conquer all?
One True Love was a sweet, fast romance that gave us some knowledge of another time, classes, and legends. Lori writing is so smooth and realistic you can't help but be drawn in, feeling Millie's feelings. Both Millie and John were really likeable characters. Millie knew her 'station' in life and as sad as it made her was willing to accept it. She is a strong young woman. John was a real gentleman, he didn't look down on others simply because he had more than them. I really liked John's family too!
I can't wait to see how this novella ties into Love At First Sight! Lori never disappoints me with her writing!

Lori Wilde as created another wonderful series, this time it is set in Cupid, Texas. This novella sets up the storyline for the series. However, I had the pleasure of reading Love at First Sight by Lori Wilde before I read One True Love. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything in either book by reading them out of order. I really enjoyed getting the background story of how the legend began.
Millie Greenwood is a strong young girl that has suffered loss. Her fathered was killed in a silver mine owned by John Fant. The family offers Millie a housemaid position so she will be able to help her family. Of course Millie accepts the job so that she is able to assist her family after her father’s passing. I just loved Millie, she has a sweet personality and a funny side as well.
John is a wealthy businessman but also a has a big heart. He loves his family which you can tell by how he treats his sister. I won’t go into a lot of detail but I loved what he and Millie do for his sister. I’ll let you read One True Love for yourself and see what happens that I enjoyed so much.
Millie and John have an instant connection that is really sweet to watch grow. I really enjoyed reading their story and found myself hoping that things work out for them.

I’m not going to beat around the bush but just say that I am a big fan of Lori Wilde. I have read a bunch of her series and just love her writing and her ability to lighten my world with her stories of love and romance. She is an author than can definitely sweep me away and she has done it again with her new series called Cupid, Texas. Her prequel novella, One True Love, sets up the series and how the town turned a love story into a legend. Just reading the first line she hooked me and had me read the whole story at one sitting. She captivated my attention to find out how one day and one event can change the course of so many people’s lives.
Millie Greenwood met John Fant and later became the maid in his family’s home in Cupid, Texas. She knew her station in life but fell in love with the man regardless. Remembering the story of Mingus and Louisa and how Cupid answered his pleas she thought she could do the same and hope that her wish could come true. Lucky for her she got her wish and later married the man she loved. It only took a moment when she realized she found her one true love, just like her parents, and sometimes it can’t be helped who it is or why it happened. It just happens sometimes.
Lori Wilde’s story took me back to the basics of love being simply stated between two people. There will be no other for Millie and she was willing to live without him if she had to. Her love story of Millie and John being each other’s one true love made me think of my own parents and how they knew after two weeks that they were in love. John and Millie might have had a couple of complications to overcome but in the end love won and they got there happily ever after. The outcome might have been predictable but it nonetheless pleased me immensely with a sigh and a smile. Lori Wilde is one of my favorites and I hope she becomes one of yours too.

I'm usually not a big fan of prequel novellas. As a stand-alone novella, I love them. As a prequel for a new series, I usually feel like they don't offer enough introduction or back story to be considered a prequel and I wind up wishing it was a full sized book. One True Love was completely different. It made the perfect prequel into Lori Wilde's new series - Cupid, Texas.
In 1924, a tragic event leads toward a serendipitous meeting between Millie and John. Despite their differences in social standing, the two are immediately drawn to each other. Millie knows that they have no chance, but she falls in love anyway. Broken hearted, she pleads with Cupid for help to bring her and John together.
I adored One True Love. Such a sweet story of love conquering all. The secret glances between Millie and John made my heart swoon. Watching Millie's heart break after the dance marathon seriously made me cry at 2am. Speaking of the dance marathon . . . Oh my goodness, that was my favorite scene. If you ever wonder what that scene would look like, go to YouTube and watch Gilmore Girls' dance marathon scenes. I had that episode playing in my mind as I pictured Millie and John collapsing on the floor after the runaround. I could go on forever about this particular scene, but I think I've gushed enough. The novella was perfectly written as an introduction for the new series. It gives the reader the sweetest love story while providing ample background information for the rest of the series. Whether you decide to read it before the series or after finishing it, One True Love is a novella you won't want to miss. It also served as my introduction to Lori Wilde. Of course I'm now hooked and I'll be waiting along with her other fans to read more about the adorable small town that is Cupid, Texas.

June 29, 2013I thought this was a really sweet and romantic novella. I haven't really read many Westerns before. I really enjoyed Millie's story and journey. I particularly admired her strength in moving away to work for a family she's never met before in the wake of her father's death.
I have to admit, while I liked the romance, I found the hero John Fant to be too good to be believed. Not only is he handsome, kind, considerate, etc., there seems to be nothing he can't do. For me, at certain points, he was verging on the male counterpart of a Mary Sue character. I think part of it may be that we only get the story through Millie's POV, and it's obvious she had stars in her eyes when it came to him from the beginning, and she practically idolized him.
Nevertheless, One True Love was a quick enjoyable read. :) My favorite part of the story definitely had to be the dance marathon. :) I can't even imagine dancing for over 24 hours, lol.

Cupid, TX area 1920's This is the book that started the Cupid, TX series. Millie Greenwood had just lost her father and the owners of the mine where he worked hired her to take care of their house, 25 miles away.
She left her mother and brothers and sisters. She falls into the routine of cleaning and doing laundry and watching children and has met another maid such as herself after attending church one day and is invited to go visit the Cupid Caverns and have a picnic lunch there.
Millie has dreams of John Fant but he is in the upper class and she should not be thinking of him. Penelope=John's sister is in charge of the Ladies League and she finds an idea of dancing for charity that she hopes till rid the ill talk of the last maid who had to leave to have a baby.
Loved the scenes of the caverns and the Cupid statue! Millie will help while Penelope learns the dancing steps=she's learning herself.
When Penny gets injured wearing high heels they must find a substitute for the dancing marathon. They select Millie and she just knows she should decline but she wants to help Penny out by putting the Fant name back in good standing.
After hours dancing he tells her and she can't believe she fell for him-she should've known better...
What I really liked about this book is not only do you get this book, but excerpts for Love AT First Sight and All Out of Love are included along with a sample of Stealing Home by Jennifer Seasons, Lucky Like Us and The Right Bride both by Jennifer Ryan, Stuck On You by Cheryl Harper and Lachlan's Bride by Kathleen Harrington .

Oh my goodness! This was just the sweetest love story I have read in a long time. It was also one of the shortest but I am thrilled to say none of the story felt rushed. One True Love is the perfect prequel to the Cupid, Texas series and a must read for those who love those small town stories of romance against all odds.

I don't normally care for historical romance from this time period but this one was an exception! It wonderfully set the stage for the rest of this series and I couldn't help but love Millie and John. It manages in a short time to make all of us normal folks believe in love conquering all. This story expertly sets the stage for the legend of Cupid, Texas. You can't miss the rest of the series now!

who at the young age of 18 and the daughter of a miner held her family together.
This is a fantastic introduction. To Cupid Texas and if you never read Lori Wilde you will now! You will read One True Love in one sitting, I couldn't put it down.

This was a very heart warming story. It pulled your heart strings watching these two people from different backgrounds having to fight their attraction for each while their hearts were breaking due to their circimstances. This was a wonderful story leading into the Cupid series.

This is the novella that sets the stage for Ms. Wilde's Cupid Texas series. It's a PG-rated as a Hallmark movie, as innocent as the early 1920s West Texas time period it's set in. In this story we learn the romantic legends surrounding Cupid Texas. The outlaw who was saved from hanging by the love of a lonely woman rancher after praying to the stalagmite statue of Cupid. How poor working class maid Millie Greenwood's letter to Cupid to find a way to deliver her one true love the wealthy John Fant to her was answered. It's a simple well written story with stereo-typical characters and few surprises.
A great deal was made in this story about the separation of economic classes back in the "Roaring Twenties." I wonder have things really changed all that much in 100 years? Don't the richest 1/10th of 1 percent of Americans still travel in their own world of gated communities, private clubs and private schools for their children with plenty of household staff to take care of their estates, care for their children and personal assistants and shoppers so they don't have to rub elbows with the unwashed masses? Somehow I don't think a lot has changed as the disparity and separation between the uber wealthy and the rest of us continues to grow.

Don't the richest 1/10th of 1 percent of Americans still travel in their own world of gated communities, private clubs and private schools for their children with plenty of household staff to take care of their estates, care for their children and personal assistants and shoppers so they don't have to rub elbows with the unwashed masses? Somehow I don't think a lot has changed as the disparity and separation between the uber wealthy and the rest of us continues to grow.

Estoy comenzó está serie y tengo todas las intenciones de devorarla y amarla jaja.
Este libro, está pequeña historia es el principio de un amor en Cupid, Texas en donde los protagonistas se enamoran dulcemente y deciden estar juntos para siempre aun por encima de las clases sociales que los dividen (él es un hombre acaudalado y ella una joven sirvienta que trabaja en su casa/rancho).
La forma de escribir de la autora me encantó, me engancho de primer momento; en esta novela me gustaron los diálogos como se describen las emociones y lo que cada uno de los protagonistas va sintiendo.
Definitivamente voy a seguir con esta serie porque es justo lo que estaba buscando después de un pequeño bloqueo literario que sufri jaja.
