In My Face

Rate this book
For Tatianna, summer meant ice cream, day dreaming, and countless hours of Pablo Neruda. She never meant to meet Mark, and she definitely didn't expect to fall in love.

But when she meets the cute and alluring boy in front of her favorite ice cream truck, her idea of summer, boys, and love swiftly melts away.

As school starts and summer steadily fades, Tatianna must ask herself several questions. The most important one: Is Mark the guy meant for her, or has there been someone in her face all along?

This is a tender tale of first love and infatuation. When Tatianna is sixteen, she meets Mark and experiences her first relationship. They seem to have so much in common. This will be a memorable summer for these young lovers. The author writes with such heart and tenderness that you are captivated. Tatianna is so strong yet vulnerable that you'll love her. Her story reminds us the joy and pain of growing up. A perfect summer read.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The story, told from the first person pov uniquely captures first love with all of the naive innocence of a 16 year old girl.
Mark seems perfect but then again so does Bug. I adored the fact that our main protagonist is a good girl, a good daughter and a good student. No sign of teenage angst insight made this a truly refreshing read.

I received a very early copy so it might be that some of the editing issues is no longer in play. Be that as it may, I found some words misused or missing. Do not misunderstand, the story is not overrun by mistakes, it is simply something I noted in my copy. I am convinced that if the book received one more edit, some scenes got written in full, getting rid of a rushed feeling the book has at times, then I know this would be a 5* read.

I look forward to reading more by this young author and I must say, I adore the cover.

This book was a nice light read, but I felt like we should've known more about the characters. I know that's hard when writing a short story such as this, but I feel like if I knew more about their backgrounds and if the relationship between Tatianna and Mark was brought more into light I would've liked it more. The topic of the story certainly caught my interest. There were some funny moments in the story as well that kept my attention. This would've been a good novel instead of a short story.

This was a short story. Cute but would have been much better if the format had't spoiled the outcome from chapter one. A bit rushed. These kinds of stories really need more content to work out. 1.5 stars.
