This is the book description: Showing that love doesn’t have to be a four-letter word and that redemption is possible, this novel follows three women all involved in the universal search of finding love. Instead, they find lust, betrayal, compromise, and finally, redemption. Banks sends a powerful message through these characters, encouraging readers to know their values, love themselves, and never compromise what is near and dear to them.

However, the novel was not written about three women. It was three separate stories and all of them were interrupted with paragraphs analyzing decisions the main character was making, or to give advice to young women who may find themselves in a similar relationship/circumstance. The characters were not well developed. I did not feel as though I was in the story or in the characters’ heads, but that I was an outsider simply being told about relationships these women had gotten involved in. There were many grammatical and spelling errors as well, and her descriptions of intimate details were crude and a bit more explicit than I find appropriate for a Christian book.

I noticed that this is Ms. Banks’s first novel, and I strongly suspect that she self-published without having a proofreader or editor look it over. I would suggest that she seek an editor in the future.

It is clear that Ms. Banks has a heart for helping young women avoid bad relationships. I believe that her writing style is better suited for script writing, as I often felt as though I were reading a script for a play.

I am sorry to say that I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Ms. Banks is a freshman author with great potential. As I read the content grabed my attention and the grammar made it easy to read. She discusses the relationship battle from a Christian's point of view. A lot of what she wrote is familiar to many woman but reading it again is a fresh reminder that women have still not won the relationship war, though we have won many battles. Ms. Bank's list of "10 secrets to move from relationship failure to relationship victory" was very practical. The discussion questions were good. I liked the point, question, setting, and dialogue format Ms. Banks uses on pages 72-73. Overall I liked the professional design of the cover and the content. However I must recommend a editor and second printing with larger and consistent fonts size.

I was too distracted by the grammatical and formatting errors to get beyond the first chapter. There may be some good information to be found in the book, but if the author wants more people to read it, then the manuscript needs to be cleaned up quite a bit.

The cover design is clever and professional, and I wish the inside lived up to the outside.

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from BookLook in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

A Fine Piece of Chocolate by Jacqueline R. Banks was a book I had a really time getting through. I always try and find something good about the books that I review but I didn’t like this book at all, and I was glad when it was finally over. I couldn’t stay interested in this book and I was just wishing that it would end quickly. I also felt like this book wasn’t well written and at times it left me confused trying to figure out what was going on in the book. Like I said before I always try and find something good about a book that I am going to review but I can’t think of anything that I liked or enjoyed about this book.
