Very Useful
I found this book to be useful for the most part. I am not necessarily new to WordPress, as I have already been working on building my site previous to reading this book. I wish I would have read it when I first started. It would have saved me some time and frustration. Even so, I learned some things and feel a lot more comfortable continuing to create my site after following along with the book. The only thing that was difficult for me was already having a different theme than the example and therefore being unable to find and see the exact things described in her instructions.

Very informative right to the point
This book was great for me. I probably know enough html code to be dangerous. This book showed me that a very good, viewer friendly, website is possible. I highly recommend this as your first book and it will become your go-to book to look up help for specific questions.

Very basic, but a gratifyingly quick and informative read. All the angles are covered and everything you need to start a basic blog or website is here. Well done to Ms. McHarry for a well-organized book with easy-to-follow steps, diagrams, and further resources.

This is a really awesome book for beginner bloggers or anyone who has not been self hosting but is considering it. It walks you through every step imaginable on your journey through self hosting and is very easy to read and understand even if you have no idea what you're doing. The only thing that might throw some people off is the author suggests you to sign up for self hosting through Site Ground and all of the steps are based on the platform but can be implemented the same through other hosting sites if you have some sort of computer and web knowledge. This is not a bad thing in my eyes because I went with Site Ground and was planning to before I found this book because it has great reviews in the blogging community and it one of the cheapest options with the most value for your money!

I purchased this book on kindle and within two days I had a great looking site up and running. The lag time was only due to the hosting site. The book truly walks you through step by step and with a complete non-techy person it was a breeze.
My only frustration was it didn't provide a warning that the authorization emails could take a few hours to come through so I thought I had missed a step when I couldn't access my cpanel right away.
If you were like me and scared to death of trying to create a website from scratch this is a great tool that will help you achieve your goal with no hair pulling or toddler tears.

I was interested in learning WordPress and was able to download this for free to my Kindle. The author provided a good step-by-step approach for setting up a website. I had access to a WP account and was able to easily follow-along.

An excellent book which has helped me set up my Website. It has been a god send, but if there is a problem you will get stuck but it takes away the daunting task of attempting to set up your website.

Very good book for the rank beginner/novice. It includes instructions on registering a domain name, setting up a site through Hostgator, installing WordPress, and basics on posting, themes, widgets, plugins, and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Not quite complete
I would like to know about how to actually find internal broke. Links and 301 errors in my site but this book was missing that info. There were many problems mentioned but no intervention was included.

McHarry does a nice job explaining what terms mean as well as providing lessons that allow the reader to follow along with as they set up their site.

Clear and concise, not as comprehensive as other books. The promotion of Hostagator is a little concerning. I see a conflict of interest.

Great introduction guide and a fun way to learn how to create and manage a WordPress Website
I have been studying front-end web development for (6) months now. Working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and built my first novice website from scratch. It was a great uphill battle and I decided that now that I went through some much needed struggle, I was ready to learn the amazing world of building a WordPress Website. I saw that this book was popular and I gave it shot. If you are remotely curious in starting to learn WordPress I suggest you read this book. You wont exactly be a WordPress webmaster but if you stick with the book and follow Sarahs instructions, you will certainly have something that you can be proud of. The only thing I would have wanted to see more of are some examples of actually adding in CSS and JavaScript but maybe that was outside the intent for this book or maybe she has this info on her website. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. - Jiovanni Rosario (the website I built based on Sarahs book- http://jnrosario.com)
