This is a good book to check out if you're thinking about getting a pet bird, and the health-related chapters are very well done. I did feel that the section on individual kinds of birds was a bit skimpy, and sometimes the information given wasn't very complete. For example, all of the parrots (with the exception of lorikeets) were listed as eating a typical parrot diet, which isn't entirely accurate -- all parrots have varying dietary needs, and I wish there had been more species-specific diet information. Other than that, it's a good book to have around, and definitely a good companion to a species-specific bird book.
