I read the first book in this series, and I will admit I was hard on Donna Flynn in the review. There were tons of spelling and grammar issues, and that stuff drives me insane (I was an English teacher two lifetimes ago, ‘ya know?). But I liked the story. It just so happened that the next book was coming out literally the next day, so I grabbed it and read it. It still had the same issues, but the story-telling was awesome. So I sent an email to Ms. Flynn and apologized for being picky, and to let her know I thought she was a really good writer. I mentioned another proofread would make this a 5-star book. (she graciously accepted my apology – she’s very sweet).
Now you know I had to grab “Bonded to the Pack” the day it came out because I love my weres and I love Mercy and Alec’s story. Well guess what – not only was the story fantastic – the editing was almost perfect! So I am very happy to be able to give this book 5-stars.
Mercy is an awesome character. She has gone from being so down-trodden to completely kick ass. And she kicks some major ass at the end of the book. Alec is a great alpha type without being overbearing. He loves that girl and nothing will keep him away from her – and God knows plenty of weres try. I also especially like Gregory, Luc, Cade and Mason. And I really liked Gina (though not so much of her “on stage” this time). And then there’s Jaden. I liked her A LOT. She’s another kick ass woman, and even though she’s got a mate, maybe, maybe there might be something happening with Mason (cause all might not be well in mateville - hint for next book).
There’s still a lot of disfunctionality going on in that family: Luc is way over-protective of Mercy ( a la a certain promise he forces Alec to make), Mercy doesn’t tell anyone when she gets a feeling that something bad is coming (which is ALWAYS a recipe for disaster in a paranormal book. It’s just a given.), the guys still debate keeping things from Mercy (but wisely don’t given what happened in the first book…”Werewolves killed your parents and surprise, you’re a werewolf too! Let’s have cake.” Yeah.). And even Gregory is keeping a whopper of a secret (he’s really an elf – no, just kidding – you have to read the book).
What could go right? Well, eventually it all does. I am so happy that Ms. Flynn’s book now looks as good as it reads, and I’m looking forward to reading lots more stuff from her in the future. Congrats to Donna Flynn on a job well done!
