I bought Lost because I downloaded a free copy of Hidden, the first book in the series, and really enjoyed it. I thought the characters were interesting and Christine’s story was worth following. So when I started reading Lost, I was prepared for the tone and flow of the book. Then I got a few chapters in and the story exploded into something even more brilliant than what was in the first book! Yes, I love this book. I couldn’t wait to finish it so I ended up reading it on my lunch break at work. I cannot wait for Lathan to release Shattered, book three in the series. I hear it’ll be out soon but haven’t found a release date yet. Waiting with bated breath…

I'm gonna just dive right in...

This is such an epic read and I honestly feel like I've been transported into a whole other world... magically sewn to keep me wedged in. Dare I say it gives of a nostalgic feel of Harry Potter? Just the feeling mind you, so no angry glared my way!!

I love that even though book one awarded us with much character developments and shocking discoveries... This book still had more to give us! It kept me interested from the start, right up to the end - and I am beyond PISSED that I have to wait for book 3

If it's one thing I hate...It's waiting on books in a series ahah... but this lil bookwhore still finds herself reading even though she know's she'll end up waiting!! ARGH!

What I loved most about this book, is the alternative life it showed, and for Christine to understand, thinking about herself, her family and their own happiness isn't always for the best.

And I freakin' LOVE Nathan in the Alt world... and the explanation behind his attraction to Christine... Like... I was just in happy land. It's freakin' cute dammit.

There was laughter, tears, stupid giggling... This book just gives you all.

I must admit that Sophia annoyed me a little. I mean I get the motherly love, but how she acts sometimes makes me forget that Christine and the others are SEVENTEEN years old! So... blah.

I love that Christine got her family back, but I'm hoping that amendments are made =/ Its sad actually... and it just makes me love Lydia that much more <3

STILL intrigue about Nathan's scare (dammit, I keep remembering the Alt world... SO GOOD ahah)

This book is wonderful, the author is amazing... and I CANNOT WAIT TIL BOOK THREE!!! '

Loved it! A few reasons without spoilers: the characters continue to develop, the story moves forward and it is satisfying while leaving plenty to continue. Also - I hope this isn't too much of a spoiler but I LOVE the relationship between Chris and Nate - it's strong, which id uncharacteristic for YA (no stupid lo e triangle) and I like it.

I'm really glad that I decided to read this book, mostly because I had almost forgotten how much I loved all of the characters from the first novel. I fell right back into the hilarious house dynamic that I loved so much in Hidden, and I'm so glad that I did. The characters were my favorite part in the first book, and I'm very happy to say the same about this one!

I'm really struggling to choose a favorite character, but it feels nearly impossible for me to do that right now because I have so many! I felt so bad for Lydia, knowing what happened at the end of Hidden, which Christine doesn't know for most of this book, but she is far from perfect. I go from sympathizing the heck out of her, to being overjoyed that she's happy again, to feeling a little disappointed in her, to wanting to beat the sense back into her, especially once we meet a certain somebody for the first time (which I'm really glad happened, by the way!), and then finally to completely understanding why she did what she did and knowing that she made the right choice. All in the span of a few hundred pages.

And of course there's Sophia, who is just one big bundle of overprotective sweetness. She loves Chris SO much, and everything she does for her continues to amaze me. Sophia really is the perfect "grandmother type" character: such an angel to the kids, yet still pretty kick-butt on her own. I mean, she really is the only reason why things turned out fairly well at the end of this book.

But then there's Nathan who, let's face it, is nearly impossible not to love. Even when everything goes completely wrong towards the end, he STILL manages to be nothing short of perfect, and I don't even get how that's possible. I'm not trying to say that he seems too good to be true, therefore his character isn't real enough for me. No, what I'm saying is that I don't see how he could have been written so perfectly, even after everything that happened. Other than his slight lean towards the melodramatic about certain things (and even that is still pretty sweet), I literally have zero complaints when it comes to him.

And here's a fun surprise for other fans of Nathan: he gets to tell the epilogue! At first, I was a little unsure of whether or not that was a good idea, mostly because it just seemed a little out of the blue, but I knew I was hooked on the idea as soon as he described the first time he met Christine. And I fell even more in love with the dog version of his thoughts, even though they came about for a very upsetting reason.

That's another thing - M. Lathan's ability to mesh together a person's thoughts from either two different viewpoints, or two whole different memories, like with Christine, is extremely impressive. Not once did I think anything she wrote in any of those instances sounded odd or forced, which is something I usually have a huge problem with when other authors attempt it. I can honestly say that Lathan's handling of the issue is the best I've ever seen of it, so amazing job to her there!

And now for my criticisms. Don't worry, there aren't too many. Actually, they can probably be boiled down to one really vague one, and that is that sometimes the story seemed to be moving a little too quickly. Like I said before, I have always loved these characters, so I was a little disappointed that there wasn't as much time spent with them as there was in the first book. Paul and Em are phenomenal characters, and it kind of seemed like they were shorted. I did really love their one moment together, but that still didn't feel like enough. Paul's crazy fashion sense only got mentioned once, and that was at the very end!

I even wish that some of the newer characters had been explored further. I'm happy with the time spent on the big new addition (whom I can't exactly name for fear of revealing too much but is the same one I mentioned when talking about Lydia), but some of the new minor characters could have been pushed more. I adored Annabelle from the moment Chris met her, and I'm sure I would be able to say the same thing about Shane, but the sad thing is, neither one of them got a whole lot of page time in this book.

There isn't a whole lot more I can talk about without spoiling the entire book for you, but a few other things needed more explaining too. Like I said in my review of Hidden, Christine is a very smart girl (it's about time these female protagonists started to be!) and she figures things out very quickly, but sometimes that leads to a lack of explanation on her part. I can usually figure out what's going on too (like the reason behind her lack of abilities after the big incident in the pool), but my ideas are never really confirmed or denied, so I don't know what to believe. I think that maybe if her thought process was laid out a little more, that would help. I really don't want her to draw out and explain every little revelation (because that's not how actual thoughts work), but I just think there could be a little more of a balance in that area.

I really don't want you to think that I didn't like this book since I just spent all of this time criticizing it because that's not true at all! I loved Lost very much, and I'm extremely glad that I got to read it. Overall, however, I'd still chose Hidden over it without much contest, but seeing how I gave that book five amazing stars, I'd say coming in second isn't too shabby after all!

P.S. And if you have read my review of Hidden and are wondering whether or not I forgive Nathan now, I'd have to give that one a very strong yes!

I seriously love this series. I'll admit, though, that this wasn't my favorite book. Not because the characters weren't brilliantly written; they were. The book moved at a fast pace, and the story flowed. I just didn't care for the alt world where Christine was trapped. I kept wanting her to get back to the real world because I knew what was happening wasn't real, and Christine had a way out. So there wasn't a lot of suspense in that world even though there was supposed to be.

I still love the book, and Nathan, and that ending....Wow. Way to go, M. Lathan!

I received tbis book in exchange for an honest review by the author.

So things are great in Christine, who used to be called Leah's, life. She has Nathan and Paul and Emma still with her. All watched over by Sophia and the woman who saved them in book one. She has offered to mentor Christine herself much to Christine's surprise! To Christine Lydia Shaw has Rock Star status. To Lydia Shaw, things are very different!

She's content until it's time for her three companions to straight their respective jobs. She is going to be without them, most importantly Nate for Two whole months!

He promises to come and see her and they have their phones but it's like being alone all over again for Chris. She's dreading it but wants them to be happy.

She has problem after problem of controlling her powers and she's having visions and they are not good. She's worried what will happen once Nate leaves her, but he is sincere in his need to contribute.

It's all a race against time when she foresees a destiny she would hate to have come to pass.

When she tries to fix it she finds that change isn't always good.

I was floored, happy, sad, happy and floored again reading this. Rollercoaster and yea, I am emotionally spent!
Non stop action plus plenty of Nate! Book 2 in no way, shape or form is the slightest bit disappointing.

Still loving the character chemistry! Like that Christine is comfortable in who she is but hate that she isn't adjusting well to her strengthening powers. She gets mischievous though and creates a few problems...

And there are some serious bombshells in this book! You just have to read it!

I NEED BOOK 3!!!!

Book Review- Lost by M. Lathan
The second book in the Hidden series. The whole group is back again and the story takes off in this book where the last one left off. Christine and her friends are living in California and keeping her safe from Kamon. Kamon wants her and is searching for her. Her memories of her mother are still gone and she is obsessing about the ghosts that she thinks were her parents. She is also feeling like she doesn't belong especially when Emma, Paul and Nathan get a job that will take them away for two months. She is being left behind as always.
As her friends go to training and prepare for their new job, Chris starts spending a lot of time with Lydia Shaw. Lydia decides to train Chris to use her powers. She is growing strong and she could be dangerous if she can't control them. Chris grows closer to Lydia and distracts herself from being left behind by her magical friends.
Things start to change when she remembers who her mother really is and past enemies are trying to destroy her life. It all comes down to a vision and the fourth of July. When her friends become pawns in to the war between Kamon and Lydia, Christine has to make some tough decisions to make things right.
I love this series. This book was just as good as the first. The direction the author took was exciting and shocking. I didn't see the partnership coming. I also was surprised how Chris's life would have been. That part was almost hard to read. I kept waiting for her to fix it. I have to say that was not my favorite part of the story. However, I can't wait until Shattered is available to see how the story continues. I give it a 5 out of 5.

soon in my blog too: https://licareads.blogspot.com.br

After the events of the previous book, Christine still wants to save Remi, doesn't want to use her powers and miss her parents more than ever but she doesn't remember that they are alive and that Lydia Shaw is in fact her mother. But when avoiding her powers just make them come too strong and she can't control them she needs to learn how to control them before she does something really bad.

Christine has to learn how to accept what she is and that she is not like a copy and she also has to deal with the fact that now Nathan, Emma and Paul have a job and they will be away for two whole months and Christine doesn't know how she will be okay alone. She is always thinking of her parents like she knows a lot more than she read in the diary and she feels that she is forgetting something, which she obviously does.

OMG a lot of things happens in this book. Christine struggles with her powers that seem too powerful and out if control, her new relationship with Lydia since she doesn't remember she is her mother. The new job that Nathan, Paul and Emma had that took them in a two months trip. And we finally meet her father and what happens after that is just unbelievable.

I certainly wasn't expecting the things that happened in the last 20% of the book, but I got say that from this point on is impossible to stop reading. Really!!
Can't wait for the next book. In fact I'll begin my reading right away, no regrets in buying

I got this book from the author, free of cost, in exchange of an honest review from my side.

Firstly I would love to thank M. Lathan, author of Lost for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this fabulous book.

I really enjoyed this book a lot and let me tell you guys if you liked book 1 then you will be knocked off by book 2, its awesome-sauce! The story continues where book 1 ended and now we see Christine (Leah) is trying to tackle her awesome powers which is becoming uncontrollable and her non-stopping visions are a different story all together. She goes off to train with Lydia Shaw, the woman who saved the world in book 1 and for that she has to leave Nathan behind, which is heart wrenching. A dangerous prophecy is about to come true and Christine doesn't know what to do. Is that world really safe? What would happen if she is about to kill her very own mentor within a month’s time?

Wow, that’s awesome, huh? Well you’ll have to give it a short to know. I liked the characterization though sometimes Christine acted rather stupid than mature but that’s okay given her situation. I fell in love with Nathan, all over again! The action scenes are great and the mystery knocked me off totally. There are many unpredictable twists and turns that will shock you to your core and you wouldn't believe that this can happen. Over all a great book with a great writing pattern and hopefully you guys will love it as well. Enjoy, folks!

3/11/14 Wow, better. Loved this second installment. Change of local, addition of several characters, interesting and intertwining agendas....phew! It was a lot but it was great. Another fabulous read with seamless transitioning. We also get a ton more info about the characters, plus a little alternate reality. It is truly amazing the way so many crazy themes come together so seamlessly. Yay! Can't wait for the next one!!

2/23/15 Ok, I dropped it down a star this time. This was a lot harder for me to get into and now I remember thinking that a little when I first read it. It seems like it takes a long time for anything significant to really happen, and then so much happens, then doesn't, then does...pacing was a bit off. I really dislike Chris's dad. I really get irritated when she doesn't just immediately transport the heck away from these crappy situations she gets herself involved in. It really annoys me because it's a waste of time, intelligence and any kind of useful critical thinking skill. Hmph. Regardless I'm excited for the next one!

Another well written story by M. Lathan.

I liked this book and enjoyed the development of the characters from the first book 'Hidden'. However, Chris is still as morose as ever throughout this book... and she makes insane decisions because of her emotions. Sometimes I felt like it needed just a little bit more humour to pull me out of the spiralling depression Chris spends her time wallowing in. I also want to yell at her for still not taking her powers seriously... the last book ended with an invitation to train with the best - Lydia Shaw - but it takes most of this book for that to start happening.

I enjoy reading in the first person but it's nice to get a feel for some of the other characters sometimes too... I loved that the epilogue is in Nate's POV and it leaves an interesting direction for the next book.

Thank you for sharing this story

Chronicles of Christine...

Chronicles of Christine...

I really like book 2 ,even more so then 1. The story really goes to show what you can take for granted not even knowing it. I wanted to delve deeper into the characters and their connections ,but this one kept up with just the main character Christine. we didn't get to know to much more about everybody else...I really enjoyed the storyline , it went in a direction I wasn't expecting and i enjoyed the ruining of the universe theme she had going. I will also be reading book 3 , I need to know where Christine is going and if everybody does get their happily ever after. -also as fan of Lydia Shaw ;D

As soon as I finished Hidden (Book 1 in the series), I immediately clicked to purchase Lost, and I was not disappointed. Christine, the main character, continues to learn to harness her powers. She is angry at the choice her mother made many years ago that separated their family. She tries to right that wrong and ends up in another world she never could have imagined. I enjoyed diving into this world with Christine, even though it wasn’t the dream she imagined it would be. While in this world Christine learns more about her family, her boyfriend, and herself. Looking forward to Book 3, Shattered.

*SPOILER ALERT*

I really liked this book. It was really amazing and cleverly plotted. In my opinion it wasn't as good as the first though. In this book I love how we get to see what Christine's life would've been like if both her parents would've found out that Lydia was pregnant, but it turns out life would've been the opposite of fabulous. I also liked Emma's little relationship problem on the side, as well as when Christine finds Gavin and he remembered her. So needless to say this book is amazing.

As the second book of the series I was excited to read more about the adorable magical couple and wasn't disappointed. As with the first, this one was also filled with fun twists that were anything but predicable. Then again, whenever you throw in an "alternate timeline", it's hard to be disappointed. The time switch was my favorite part of the book, bringing it to the end of book 2.

The POV switch in the last chapter derailed me a bit, but it did help to pull more interest in the 3rd book. Anxiously awaiting the next installment of the tales of these characters!

I thought that it was actually pretty good as far as getting to know more about Lydia and Christine and their relationship. I felt like the author was trying to fit a lot of story into this one book by showing us an odd alternate reality where she grew up with her parents instead.

I do love, however, Nate. His devotion to Christine is unquestionable and we get to see this even in the alternate reality which I really did appreciate and showed me that they are the real deal.

I will buy the next one but I do hope that the story is a little better developed and doesn't rush to the ending.

I liked this book less than the first in the series mainly because of the first person narrative. Without revealing any spoilers, something happens in the first book that all the readers of the story know. The main character however does not know this point and spends a good part of this story trying to figure out what all the readers already know. It's a plot device that I'm not sure works here.

It's still an enjoyable read, and I'll definitely read the next one.

3.5 stars -- started off a bit slower and with a bit of me wondering where it was going. But totally finished off with a bang. LOVE where it went on July 4th...TOTALLY didn't see it coming and was actually really fun (and heartbreaking) to read! Can't wait to see where it goes from here, especially with that epilogue from Nathan. I do wish the characters had a bit more chemistry....sometimes it just feels like it's missing that something extra that would turn it into an incredible book...

I really enjoyed the first book of this series, but really struggled to get into the second. I felt like the main character was extremely whiny and weak in the beginning, so I struggled to get past that. I also felt the book didn't get interesting and exciting until right at the end. I will read the next book in the series because I have grown to like the characters and liked the first book so much.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!! "Au revoir, Oui, Oui. Croissant." Made me LOL big time. Was also chuckling all throughout. Not done yet actually but nearly there. Needless to say, this is significantly more cheerful than the first one, altho' there were some chuckle-worthy moments in Hidden, usually involving Paul. Love that dude.

Charlotte starts training with Lydia Shaw. Her life is still in danger and she still needs protection. In this one Charlotte goes through a portal and changes a memory of Lydia's and it changes the whole world but not in a good way, not the way she had hoped for. so now she has to find a way to undo it. I think I actually read this one first, and liked it, so I went back and read the first book. Not usually the recommended technique, but it worked out pretty well with this series for me. I am looking forward to reading the third book! I think for content this book was mostly pretty clean.
