Fallen Dragon

Rate this book
Avery Beckett couldn’t have fallen any further, even if he’d dug his own grave.
Well, maybe technically he could have. Ousted from the family mansion, stripped of his status. Cast out in utter disgrace. That about covers it. His ruin almost complete. Years of trauma surge to the forefront, leaving Avery no choice but to deal with the terrifying gift he’s been cursed with but had buried deep. The clan needs his unique brand of talents. Trouble is he’s no good for anyone else, least of all himself in his current state. Charlie Evanston has faithfully served in the mansion since abandoning her home in the ranks of the fae ten years ago, but resigns in solidarity with Avery. And when it’s as if he’s seeing her for the very first time, she won’t miss out on this chance. Meanwhile, the past and present collide, the clan’s future at a crossroads dependent on Avery’s next move. But his dragon, held at bay for so long, has other ideas involving the pretty fae, who’s dealing with her own heartache. And he’s playing for keeps. *Readers can expect healthy doses of hot shifters, naughty language, and intimate times with a fated mate, all wrapped up in a happily ever after. Can be read as a standalone romance but best enjoyed in the order written.

Avery’s storyline in it of itself pulled me into this story. The language was great for certain scenes and the steam/tension. Also, I wanted to say Charlie seems all one way but.. just read to find out!

I received this ARC for an honest review all thoughts/opinions above are my own!

I absolutely adored Avery's story! After the first book I'm not going to lie he was one of my least favorite characters but in this book he really go the redemption he needed and healed in so many ways. His character really put in the work and he had the help of Charlie the spunky redhead that didn't take of his sh*t.

Avery fell from a role of authority, in book one he was alpha and was challenged by his brother which left him lost - he even exiled himself from the family and cut out all communication from them, except for Charlie. Charlie is a fae who in a similar manner ran from her family - but in her case she ran because she did not agree with her fathers ways. Charlie worked for his family in the mansion but when Avery left she felt that she no longer belonged there either. Avery fought a compulsion that affected him and his dragon for so long but being on his own was the start of his healing. He uncovered trauma that he buried for years and it slowly began to chip away with Charlie by his side. Both Avery and Charlie were broken and fighting demons of their past but they came together to heal one another - and I loved that. They had amazing chemistry and had years of being together platonically - they stole moments here and there but something that was a constant for him Charlie always being there for him. I think that really added to how they developed as a couple. Charlie helped him and his family come back together and they created a new normal that helped the clan continue to fight the threat from the fae attacks that started in book one. It was a great continuation and it really sucked you further into the story.

I also loved the mental health representation. Avery struggles with OCD and really put in the work to learn to live with those challenges and I really appreciated that.

I could not recommend this book and this series enough. Thank you to Bree Westland for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this story and the character development you created.

I received Fallen Dragon in return for an honest review from IndIe Pen PR.

Avery Beckett has issues things have spiraled out of control sine he was kicked out of his family. When his family needs him to use his special gift Charlie is the only one who can bring him back. Will they be able to survive the looming attack or will Avery be to late.

I really like Avery he's broken, has long term trauma but he's so real as a character. It as interesting seeing the former alpha dragon learning to deal with his issues that have been plaguing him. I love Charlie she's just a sweetheart and perfect complement to Avery. The Chemistry between they just works so well.

I've always been a huge dragon shifter romance reader but this one has some unique twists which I found exciting. The story behind the shifters is equally interesting that the used to be a alien race at one time before they ended up on earth. The characters are easy to connect with while they may not be human they are dealing with very real issues and I liked that a lot.

This is my first book by the author but I'm hooked on her captivating story telling. I loved the steamy romance between the shifters and their fated mates. It was action packed with just the right amount of spice that doesn't overwhelm the story. I ending up devouring Fallen Mate in just a few short hours. I'm looking foward to exploring the rest of the series.

Easy Read..Heavy Spice🔥❤🔥

This was an down to earth emotional healing journey. Avery gets his redemption and finally sees that the right woman for him has been by his side all along. He has to unpack alot of past trauma and work on his mental health to become the man/dragon he was always meant to be for himself, his clan, and his mate. I actually connected more to Avery's story than I did Blake's in book 1, and it explained his actions and choices in a way everyone can relate to or understand

Avery didn’t care about the rundown conditions of his new home as long as it kept him hidden from anyone who wanted an additional pound of flesh from him. It had been three months since the cruel twist of fate pitted brothers against brothers when his youngest brother Blake challenged and won the place as Alpha of the dragon shifters on the planet Raynor.

It had been two months since his dragon went silent on him and one month since he stopped taking the medication he had been on since childhood. Medicine may have held back his compulsions but in the end, did more harm than good and even though they helped him function normally it was no reason for who he had become.

Now he was ashamed and humiliated by his actions and was determined to fight his demons without the medication that left him in a fog and rebuild his life.

Charlie's mom had died in childbirth and her father did everything he could to train her to be the son he had wanted, but finally, she left her fae life behind to start over without her father's overbearing disapproval.

Although she was proud of her heritage the life of overindulgence and promiscuity just didn't fit her personality. She finally found her true calling working in the Beckett mansion taking care of the needs of the ruling dragon shifters.

With her own feelings of abandonment, she couldn't help to feel an affinity with the previous alpha dragon shifter despite the things he had done and when he left she moved to Shifter Valley in the hopes that Avery would reach out if he needed help.

This book is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Although this book is a standalone romance the series is meant to be read in order.

I went into this book feeling that Avery was unredeemable after his behavior and actions from book one, An Alpha's Mate, but I am glad Bree Westland proved me wrong. Avery was a self-centered man who inherited the position of alpha on their father's death and in his search for his mate almost lost more than being alpha of the dragon shifter clan.

Charlie was a fae whose only wish was to serve and although she had always harbored feelings for the alpha knew that he would never be interested in someone who worked for his family.

This book is action-packed, full of suspense and smoking hot. This story takes you back to the start of Avery's condition and all the memories that the meds he had been on were kept hidden. Memories he needed to heal. Highly recommend!

A Unique Read!
I really enjoyed this book. I was impressed on how Ms. Westland effortlessly interwove a mental health issue into this romance. This issue, skirted around by many others, is in the forefront here. The angst of Avery’s mental health issue was presented tastefully and honestly while being woven throughout the plot. I was impressed by Ms. Westland handling of this issue.
Avery is a tortured soul that is trying to fight his way through his mental issues and finding his mate. He sees Charlie in a new light during this time and realizes that he has overlooked the fact that she was his mate.
Charlie is a fae that is dedicated, loyal and loving. After years of working for Avery, she sees him in a new way after witnessing his struggles with his mental health issue.
The plot was fascinating and contained many twists and turns. Charlie tries to help Avery with his mental issue, his family and yet deal with her own emotions. Avery and Charlie struggle through their mating to their very hard-earned HEA.
This book was a delight to read, and I truly enjoyed it. I read it in one sitting! It just pulled me right in and kept my attention. I highly recommend this book.

HEA doesn’t always come easy. Neither does any other life challenge that has come Avery Beckett’s way. Along with being demoted from his status, kicked out of the family mansion, and generally shunned by his kin, Avery fights a battle of traumatic memories that have left him useless to his relatives and his community. His physical and mental health is deteriorating, and there appears to be no way out. Yet, there is a glimmer of hope as fae Charlie Evanston, his employee for several years, choses to leave the family in protest to their rejection of Avery. Fallen Dragon weaves a touching love story between Avery and Charlie. His journey is perilous and involves many twists and surprises.
Ms. Westland is a skilled writer who weaves a captivating story of family conflict, battle with illness and confidence, and true love in the world of dragons. Her world building skills pulled me into the story and kept me turning pages until the satisfying end. As with the first book in the series, An Alpha’s Mate, expect some spice and beautifully written love scenes which add to the intensity of Avery and Charlie’s relationship. For those who enjoy dragon shifters and romance wrapped together for an exciting journey toward HEA, this book is for you.

This is my second book by Bree and omg she has sold me on dragon romance.

All my shifter romance lovers gather around! Bree has once again written another hit, it's been a while since ive read a book with broken mmc that was this good. Avery is going through some tough ish and not sure how he's going to get out, enter our fmc Charlie who wants to help any way she can. This fmc balances out the mmc so well and from the start I was rooting for these two even though I could sense they were going to have an easy path.

Bree doesn't only write an amazing and entertaining plot but there's some great spicy times in there as well, This story line was fresh and fun and really kept me locked in while I was reading never able to look away for a second. I love the redemption arc we got as well as the building tension between the characters as you read on. Deffo pick this up and book one if you haven't yet because they are some of the best shifter books ive read recently.

Avery and Charlie's Story . . .

Avery Beckett has hit a low point in his life and his family has pulled away from him. He feels disgraced and ruined. He has sunk so low that he is not able to help when his family needs him again. But Charlie Evanston has always been there for him. Serving in the mansion for the past 10 years, she stands up for him when no one else will, leaving their service in protest of the family’s rejection of Avery. He stopped taking medication since it seemed to not be helping; and he found it had kept him from scenting his Fae mate. When he finally seems to notice her, will she have the courage to let him know what she feels for him? With the fate of his clan depending on him and his telepathic skills, will his turning to Charlie be enough to snap him out of his malaise and inspire him to test those skills again and use them for his clan?

Avery is at a low point with depression and more, gets kicked out of his family and the mansion. Charlie has worked there for ten years and she also leaves to back him up with support. When he is fully off his meds, his dragon senses her as his mate and things slowly change. When his family comes to beg for help, he may not be strong enough yet to use his powers. Loved the characters and the storyline had a lot of action, suspense, secrets, twists, steam, revelation and entertaining situations. When things hit them from all sides, their strength together will see them through. Can not wait for the next book.

After reading An Alphas Mate, book 1, I wasn't sure I would be able to like Avery or enjoy his story, but I was very wrong. There was so much more to Avery that seen at first sight, and I think I enjoyed Fallen Dragon more than An Alphas Mate.

Once Avery starts to get over his defeat at his brothers hands and starts putting himself back together he realises that his Mate I right in front of him. The beautiful and caring Charlie has been his long time support and only friend.. but their story doesn't go smoothly and there are all sorts of obstacles to get over

A great story. Highly recommended.

Avery has been off his medication and notices Charlie's scent.
Dragon shifter Avery left the family mansion after he healed from losing his brother's challenge for Alpha. He stops his medication he has taken since he was young and becomes aware of Fae friend Charlie's scent soon he realises the medication has been blocking him from recognising his mate. A paranormal romance with a dragon who has been trained since a child seems to lose everything causing him to find what he wants most.

This was a fab follow up to book one and I loved seeing Avery trying to work through his past trauma while searching for his mate. Enter Charlie, a fae working in the castle, and suddenly he realizes she's been there all along. Avery's mental issues were handled very well by the author and I found him an authentic character. Charlie was so caring a perfect foil for him, and together, they about burned up my reader. You can expect drama, danger, a ton of twists and a wonderful HEA when you dive into this engaging romance. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book :D

It took going off his medications for him to realize that the person who’s been by his side this whole time was his mate. Charlie never gave up on Avery. She stood by him through everything. The little moments they had together while he was Alpha? That was the start of something, we just never knew it.

Avery came back stronger and better than ever and it shows that as long as you have love in your life, you can power through anything.

Definitely recommend reading.

Another engrossing book in this unique dragon shifter world. I didn’t love Avery at the end of the last book. He was not anyone I wanted to root for. But here I am, thrilled at watching him overcome all the obstacles. Charlie is perfect for him too. I feel like the flow is better in this book and the tension in the family is very on point. I’m excited to see how the rest of this series turns out!!

I loved this story and my heart went out to Avery he really suffered and I highly recommend this book.

Wow! I went from hating Avery to absolutely loving the man! And come on, how cute is it for a dragon shifter to have a pet dog named Thor. The author has definitely gotten better at writing the spicy scenes in the book and in fact this book was just better overall. I can't wait to see Bree continue to grow and get better in her skills when it comes to writing in style and ideas. I also look forward to the rest of the characters in the story getting their own books as well.

Redemption Is So Sweet

OK I’m not gonna lie, I was not a fan of Avery after reading the first book. However, he was redeemed by the author in this story. Everything that happened to him in the first book, came back full circle once we got to the gist of what was really bothering him. He carried a massive load for tears. Anyway, I’m very happy for him and Charlie. Overall, I think the story was done pretty well. I cannot wait to read Leslie’s story.

At first I didn't know what to think about this book. It took a couple of chapters to finally get into it. Once I did, it was a good read. Loved that it had a HEA, though there for a minute, didn't know if that would be the case . Loved Charlie and all that she had to overcome. She was strong and held her ground. Avery had a lot of things to work through and almost cost everything while he was doing it.

Avery has been broken, for a long time. Years of trauma has done serious damage. Which after losing his place to his brother, he fights his way back. Not to the place he was before. But he fights to find his own true self. Once he starts seeing who he truly is, he sees Charlie for who she really is. And she's been right in front of his face for the past 5 years.

Charlie has been working for Avery for 5 years, secretly in love with him. Can she help him work through his trauma and help him find his true self and be the man she knows he is capable of?

This story has great potential, I struggled a little bit with the style of writing but I overall enjoyed it.
I would recommend you read the first story in the series, as it will help a lot of the story in this one make sense.
