While it doesn't go as deeply as I was hoping, it is still a highly readable overview of the first third of Spielberg's career, his influences, and his rise to the top. Well written.

This book is an informative and enjoyable study of Steven Spielberg, universally considered as one of the best and most influential film directors of all time, and his movies.

It is not written in an overly pedantic style, I think we can all thank goodness for that, but it still makes a lot of interesting and valid points, especially regarding the contextualisation of Spielberg's movies today. It also makes a thought-provoking analysis of the meaning of Spielberg's movies to the audiences of their time period.

Highly recommended for film students or movie enthusiasts alike.
