A fun, funny new chapter book series full of adorable pets and silly adventures!

So, we've officially embarked in full time reading of chapter books with Isabella.
So I figure why not include those books here as well, right?
Anyway, Isabella LOVES animals, so this book was right up her animal loving alley.
So much so, we've already ordered the sequel from Amazon.
Personally, I'm looking forward to some of the other books we've got coming our way.
But I really am enjoying reading with her!

In this first installment of the Pet Hotel series, Meg and Charlie move into their great-great-great-aunt's hotel. The dilapidated look of the hotel dampens their spirits but once they explore and discover the surprises tucked inside the hotel, they brush off their concerns and are delighted to have moved in.
When they are tasked with the job of taking care of a neighbor's golden retriever puppy, it sparks an idea in their minds as they join hands to transform the run-down hotel to an amazing hotel for pets.

Kind of cute story about kids who are moving with their parents into an old hotel run by their great-great-aunt. Only the hotel isn't doing very well, and seems to be occupied by a lot of animals as time goes by. The solution? Why not change up the guest list?
This is a fun read for kids who love animals, but really there isn't a lot of substance and the book is fairly predictable. Still, for a child who is practicing reading this is engaging and not so challenging as to be discouraging. The story itself is ok but I have no desire to seek out the rest of the series.

A chapter book for 3rd grade reading level.
A great adventure for Charlie and Meg as they move from the country to the city. Their family is there to help aunt Saffron run her hotel where each room has a different theme.
The kids have an adventure with a dog and a rabbit they are taking care of. This leads to a big surprise at the end of the story.

3.5 stars. This was a cute start of a series about twins that are going to stay at their aunt's hotel with their parents. It's run down and in danger of being shut down, but when they accidentally start taking pets in, it turns into a pet hotel. They have a cat room, dog room, etc. This was wholesome and sweet and I'd definitely recommend!

My third-grade, animal-loving son just discovered this series. Now he is tearing through chapter book series without even realizing that is what he is doing.

Great quick read. Yes it is a book for younger reader but it is a fun book to read.

Cute and fluffy story. Easy characters for my own kids to relate to, and promotes community minded choices. Looking forward to reading others with my kids.

My nine-year-old daughter is a big animal fan and she really loved these books. They are great fun and also very cute! They have lots of adorable illustrations, which was always a big draw for my daughter when she was a bit younger (not to say that she doesn't still like them now, but she's willing to read books without them now that she's older). I would say that these books would be perfect for the second and third grade crowd, but would also work for younger kids who have moved on to chapter books - even though the books are 96 pages, a lot of that is illustrations, so it makes for a pretty easy read. Plus, the themed rooms in the hotel are perfect to capture a child's imagination!
When my daughter was reading the first book, she kept stopping to tell me things that were happening in it - "Mommy, the hotel is just a regular hotel for people." "Mommy, the just got a dog to take care of" "Mommy..." You get the idea. This is a sure sign that she's enjoying a book!
My only issue with the books (as a mom) is that they keep losing the pets that they're taking care of!! Yes, they always find them again, but in the span of two books, the kids lost four pets! It's not the best example of responsibility. Books like the Animal Ark series show a more realistic portrait of taking care of animals (although, these books do at least show that the kids have to do a lot of work to feed and walk the animals). Still, the books are meant to be fun and cute and aren't really meant to be taken all that seriously. They're perfect for the younger set! If your child enjoys books about animals, I'm sure they would love these.

I was given this wonderful and exciting book1 & 2 in the Pet Hotel series to provide an honest review. My son and I both love cats so, of course we were immediately interested in a book with a cat main character.
We love the dog Paco in book 1 "Calling all Pets", the quirky aunt is fun and funny. The series is wonderful for children who love animals and both book 1 & 2 are good examples if kindness towards others & animals.
This book is also an AR (accelerated reading) book on 3-4th grade level that has a test available for students / schools who participate in the AR reading program.

Twins Meg and Charlie (as well as their Mom and Dad) are moving into their great-great-aunt's run-down hotel. They soon befriend their neighbors and their neighbors' pets. The family fixes up the hotel, but it's now a hotel for pets - not people!
Finch put together a fun and cute book for beginning chapter readers. The chapters are quick and have illustrations throughout the book. The drama is light and animal related. There is plenty of humor and lightheartedness throughout the story. Pet Hotel has a lot of potential to be adored by pet loving readers. I would recommend this book for young family readalouds or for independent early elementary readers (i.e. 1st-3rd graders).

The Good
This is a cute book for children starting to learn how to read chapter books. It is a quick little adventure about two children who unintentionally come up with a way to save their great-great aunt's hotel.
The Bad
It was a really quick read. Some parts of it felt really rushed. The children take care of a couple of random animals without thought of what it could mean, and when they finally reveal the new hotel for animals, it's the adults' idea and only lasts a chapter.

Overall, this is a cute book for children. As an adult, I don't think I enjoyed it as much as my kids will, but that's alright as it's a children's book. ;)

Meg and Charlie move into their great-great-aunt's hotel with their parents. The hotel is rather rundown but it is very unique and interesting. Unfortunately, they have no guests as there are nicer hotels in town. The twins come up with a fabulous idea to turn the has-been inn into a Pet Hotel. The entire family gets on board with the idea and the fun begins! This is a sweet intermediate series for boys and girls. The people and pets are adorable.

My eight-year-old chose this book from the book fair held at their school. I am glad she liked it since she's very fond of pets, especially dogs.
She finished this book in less than two days. It's a fast read and there's excitement going on. The instances of excitement were mostly the same, though. I guess that's one way of keeping the book interesting.
I loved the illustrations, especially the one with the cross section of the hotel. I kept referring to it as the rooms were described.
