Tiffany, Tyrisha and Mezzie all have one thing in common; putting up with men that don’t deserve them. Tiffany decides enough is enough and flees to Miami to start a new life with her daughter. While she thought she was escaping her problems back in New York, she’s faced with a whole new set of problems waiting for her in sunny Miami. The palms trees aren’t the only thing that’s shady. Mezzie thinks being the side chick is having it all. She has the house, money, and her meal ticket – her son – for the next eighteen years. She soon realizes that being second doesn’t compare to being number one in her man’s life. Tyrisha loves her man. There’s only one problem, tone loves himself and isn’t faithful to her. When she meets Moses, she falls heads over hills in love with him. Although he wasn’t the best man to Tyrisha, he isn’t going to let her leave easily. Especially because Moses happens to be Tone’s connect. While demanding what they’re worth, they all end up in a web of deceit, drama and betrayal.
I’m only writing this cuz I’ve see a lot of comments complaining, this was Jahs 1st ever book she wrote so of course it’s has some mistakes and it might seem like it’s all over the place but you can’t deny her growth cuz yall know yall be going crazy over releases dates now!!! So please relax thanks sincerely one of Jahs 305s…
So I really don’t know how to feel about this book. There was, in my opinion, wayyy to much going on. I don’t like how the storyline jumped too much when Tiffany and Madison were shot by Tone.
In the beginning I felt bad for the way Tone was doing Tyrisha but as it went on I realized she was whoring around with many men. Moses seems to be a decent guy but apparently he can’t break free from her.
This book started out great. I was really into it. I love it when the characters speak in first person point of view. I never read a book where the point of view changed from first to third person, especially never midway. But that’s exactly what happened. I hate reading in third person. Then the quality of writing just declined. Typos started being more prevalent, the story was all over the place and all of it just felt rushed. I’m disappointed.
This book was so busy. I had a hard time keeping up with all of the characters and it was so messy. I thought, what in the world? These people are off the chain! And yet, I could not put it down. It was a cliffhanger but it didn't leave me in a chokehold, lol. I look forward to the next chapter. This is my first read of this writer but it won't be my last.
Book had so my twists and turns and connections that kept me hooked! Story was great, you can just tell it’s one of her early books because of the typos. Still ready to read pt. 2!
If Love & Hip Hop had a wild night with Jerry Springer and Maury, this book would be their love child. I was not prepared for the rollercoaster of drama, secrets, and jaw-dropping twists. And just when I thought it couldn’t get messier…. it ended with a big fat “To Be Continued.” Now I have to dive into the second book to see how this chaos wraps up.
My friend recommended this author to me and I have to tell you that she has gained a new follower I loved this book how it was a roller coaster of emotions but I enjoyed it and I am to start part two
I had the luxury of reading this book and listening to it through audiobook. I have to honestly say that this is one of the first books that I’ve ever read to where I didn’t like any of the characters. I know this is one of Jahquel J’s first books so I have to give her some grace because I like to start from the beginning of an authors catalogue to see the growth. There was a lot of interesting things going on which is why I gave it 3 starts. However them characters, Tiffany, Tyrisha, Rashean, Moses, Tone, Mezzi, Kim, and everybody else got on my nerves. I don’t think their characters were developed enough. I don’t know but I couldn’t stand any of them. I am going to read the second part to the book so I can finish out the series..There were so many different plots that ventured off into something else. It went from finding Tone to messing around with somebody’s girl or dude to starting a business to hood ish. It was all over the damn place.
DNF. Half way through the story, I gave up on this altogether. This should have been titled 'What a Wicked Way To Treat Each Other' because the women were as scandalous as the men. The women gave such mixed signals I didn't care who they wound up with. Both sexes were immature in the relationships and I couldn't root for any of them.
Whew. The WICKEDNESS was working overtime in this book 😮💨 Jahquel J. didn’t just spin the block, she spun the whole city with this one. Tiffany, Tyrisha, and Mezzie. Baby, these women had me ready to throw my phone; I was so tempted to grab a notebook to take notes. This book was messy, raw, and too relatable at times: friendships, fake love, and hard lessons were woven into every chapter.
With friends (and enemies) like Tyrisha, I would be solo dolo for life. She was so self-destructive. There’s no way you can stay loyal to someone who brings nothing but harm and heartache. She dragged her friends through trauma and loss they never would’ve faced if they hadn’t been trying to protect her even when she wasn’t looking out for them.
And Moses…….CHILD!!!!!! I really expected better. His moves were usually so strategic, but in the end, he let love lead him down a path that left me disappointed and let’s be honest him too. We sometimes stay loyal to the wrong person.
Now, Mezzie that’s my girl! I’m holding out hope she gets her happy ending.
SIDENOTE (aka “Don’t come for my stars!”): Just a quick heads-up my ratings are based on whether I’d reread the book or add it to my personal collection, not the quality of the story itself. So here’s how I roll:
5 🤩 = I’m obsessed with everything the storyline, the author, and the narrators! I read it yearly and own ALL the copies: physical, digital, and Audible. I can basically recite this book. It lives in my private library. 4 🌟 = Loved the story, the author, and the narrator (if it’s audio). I’d happily reread it when I need a solid comfort read. 3 ✨ = Enjoyed the story, the author, and definitely the narrators. A great addition to my yearly reading challenge likely to revisit if it’s part of a series I need to refresh.
I fell in love with Jahquel J’s writing—the characters she created feel like friends in her head that want only her to tell there story... I decided to read her entire catalog before the year ends, so I started with the first book and finished it last night. What A Wicked Way To Treat The Woman You Love, Mrs. Jacobs, this book shows the beginning stages of your writing and your books now shows how much you’ve grown as a writer. I can clearly see the journey you’ve been on, and I’m grateful for the progress from then to now—it's an amazing voyage.
There were moments when I thought about marking it as a DNF, but I pressed on because I hate leaving a book unfinished. I always want to give the author my full attention and a fair chance to win me over, so I kept reading, and I’m glad I did. For one of your earlier works, I genuinely enjoyed the journey you’ve taken me on, and I’m excited to continue as I explore your entire catalog in 2026.
I’ll read the series in order, but I may jump around as needed. After finishing this series, I’m headed back to Staten Island to dive into the Staten Island families. I’ve already read Capone, Cappadonna, Capri, 10,000 Hours to a Rich Menace, Don, Quasim, and Goon, so it’s time to revisit the rest of the Staten Island crew. I can’t wait for what’s next.
This story pulls you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let go. Each woman’s journey is layered with pain, love, and hard truths, making their struggles feel real and raw. The tension between past mistakes and present choices keeps the drama flowing, especially as relationships are tested in unexpected ways. Mezzie and Reshawn’s downfall is messy and emotional, while Tiffany’s happiness feels genuine until it’s shaken in a way that adds depth to her character. Tyrisha’s storyline stands out, showing growth, but also reminding us that the past never stays buried for long. The plot is filled with twists, betrayal, and moments that make you pause and reflect on self-worth and resilience. At times, the pacing feels slightly rushed, but it doesn’t take away from how gripping the story is overall. A powerful, drama-filled read that explores love, loyalty, and survival. Definitely worth picking up if you enjoy stories about complicated relationships and strong, evolving women.

I love Jahquel J and her writing growth has me completely hooked not my favorite book, but I see lots of detail and unhinged behavior. That’s comical to me. I’m never gonna not read. Jah’s books please come to Houston Texas. We need a signing or something. My first book of yours is Capone so reading any book after that series it’s a lot to measure up to.
You are writing style is wonderful however, sometimes the narrators don’t match up with the personalities of the characters I did not like the narrator in this book. She sound so masculine. There was no softness tour even when she was supposed to be demure.🤣 a friend, gifted me an audiobook in the Capone Capp series and the narrator was terrible. I think it’s the same lady. Your books are so good. You need a fire narrator. It will only enhance your genius.😏 yes anything with that female narrator I’m not listening to it
This was just too much for me. The plot was all over the place, there were too many characters, and the ratchetness was over-the-top. The extreme randomness after Chapter 30 was especially annoying. I know Jahquel J has a gew better books, but this book was a mess that I only finished because it was a quick read. I am seriously not a fan of all the brand-dropping, glorified drug life, and confusing storylines.
I kept reading Jahquel J because I've seen flashes of potentially in other books, but *What a Wicked Way to Treat the Woman You Love* was a struggle. It was unpolished and all over the place. The plot got lost under too many characters, constantly introducing new people, shared sexual partners, an obsession with luxury brands, and a crime life that didn't feel real. The sudden change in the story halfway through was jarring. This book was just too messy for my taste.
I honestly don't know how I feel about this book. If I wasnt reading it for myself u wouldn't have believed this twists and turns in this book. I do love the drama and all it brings but I did find that the book had a bit too much going on and started getting a little lost on how a majority or the characters were connected.
Chapter 48 where Lace got to Tyresha scarred me a bit. She was not my favourite character at all but that scene was a lot, mind you i immersive read this book...it was a lot. Tyresha went were ever the money was and showed no loyalty to anyone.
Tone...he went from me feeling sorry for him to hoping someone caught him.
And that ending...I think I need to get to book 2 to see how that plays out.
A good read with a title that definitely describes the story within. With some likeable characters and some not so much. The drama begins from the very beginning and seems to never stop. Abuse, cheating, arrogant men that think anything they do is okay. Finally the female characters get tired and move on. But between the streets, drug addiction, women addiction, and revenge things take a turn and lives are lost. The storyline has a great flow has plenty of twist and turns. I can't wait for more.
This whole story was beyond insane! Had to get out the white board just to keep track of who was dealing with whom and who was blood related and who had babies together. And that had nothing to do with realising who was working with whom. This was truly drama from the jump and an absolute rollercoaster ride on the crazy train. Now I must know what happens next because I had not expected Mezzie to do what she did there at the end at all, jeopardizing everyone else when it was already decided as a group what was to happen.
I loved this book and I am about to read the other book as well. I hope Moses tell them that Tyrisha isn’t dead because Tiffany definitely misses her best friend. I can’t believe that Tone did all of that to them though smh. Lance was definitely crazy he didn’t play at all. I don’t think that Tyrisha understood the relationship between Tiffany and Mezzie though I honestly thought that all of them was going to be friends after she saved them though.
This book needs to be a movie!!!! Moses is a doggone lunatic they betta leave that man alone!!!! Tyrisha…. No words really just no words. Playing with fire 🔥 is an understatement. Tiffany was really making me mad. She started off so strong then homegirl lost me. Mezzie started off all bad…. This story was like what in the world? I couldn’t put it down though. Tone lost his mind. Man…. This was crazy 😜
The roller coaster ride this book took you on was truly one for the books!!!… I hope that home health aide is not trying to blackmail them since she seen what happened to Tone and Kim!!!… Rayshawn has shown so much growth and I’m excited to see what happens next with him and his relationship!!!… I love me some Tiffany and so happy for her and Marquise!!!… Those twins were a force to be reckoned with and played no games!!!…
(3-3.5) A lot was going on, but it was to be expected, since it’s one of Jah’s books.
I was enjoying it, but after a while, I felt as if things were being drawn out, and I was getting ready for it to come to a close. Some people should have done away with it a long time ago and just kept resurfacing to keep adding to the drama/story.
This circle gives it’s truly a small world bc everyone is either related or connected.
This book was kind of all over the place but it still kept my attention a bit, the events that went on in this book were crazy and i was appalled. Everybody was sleeping with everybody with no type of protection then everybody was connected or related somehow and i was getting confused as hell , it was very messyyy and i was listening to the audiobook and at one point the male reader just never read again it was like the book was in third person or something
Let me say I am an avid reader and huge fan of this author however I found myself rereading pages because it seem like I had missed something. Some of the scenes seemed incomplete like she was cut off in the middle of a thought and then picked back up & started fresh. Idk but this just didn’t do it for me
I know this is a re-release, but this is my first time reading this. All I can say is that this storyline went in a circle, and who I thought was gone wasn't, and the minute you thought it was the end of them, it was just the beginning. Hopefully, I can keep up with the next read
