This is an excellent cookbook that comes from the world of Once A Month Cooking (OAMC). If you are not familiar with this method, the premise is to prepare enough food to get your family through a month or so of dinner meals in one day. Group cooking is encouraged, so that both of you walk away with meals for the month.
How does this stack up as a cookbook? Not badly. The recipes are simple, but the strength of this collection is how they break down each recipe into preparation/cooking and freezing/serving. They also show you how to adapt your own favourite recipes to the method. Really good stuff.
If you are new to freezer cooking and want some flexibility in menu options, I recommend this cookbook. It has good information on how to get started and stay organized. I especially liked the practical tips and tools (including many reproducible charts and list). The recipes are decent and easy to follow. Our favorites include Debbie's Chicken Marinade, Chicken Patties (for Parmesan), Cheese-Filled Shells, Fruit Slush, and Granola Bars.
This book is very practical and down-to-earth, with lots of recipes that my kids will actually eat. The organizational advice and forms are extremely helpful as well. This book motivated me to finally start doing once-a-month cooking again, and I am loving not having to cook every night, and having relatively healthy meals on-hand instead of panicking over "what's for dinner".
