The country music superstar shares the story of his life, career, and lyrics, including his collaboration with Jimmy Buffet and Willie Nelson, his early days in New Orleans, and the legendary Mr. Bojangles.
No, not the title of his last album, but my sentiment at having finally read Scamp's autobiography. I've been a huge JJW fan since the late '70s. I been to his home on Ambergris, and I've celebrated his birthday in Gruene Hall and the Paramount. But I've only just now read his book. It was an easy, interesting read - albeit riddled with typos. Odd that I should be reading about Scamp and Jimmy Buffet running together the day that I heard of Jimmy's death.
You will always be my man man, Scamp. Nobody writes them and sings them quite like you. RIP, Jerry-Jeff.
Been there. Done that. Jerry Jeff brings back memories of the crazy times and those of us who have adjusted and lived through it! A walk down memory lane! Thank you, Jerry Jeff, for the good times!
Wow, what a life! Interesting book if you like Jerry Jeff Walker. Lots of crazy stories and I’m sure a large percentage of them are not in here. Great artist.
A friend described this autobiography as perhaps the "ultimate road story." What a great and truly enjoyable book! JJW has a way with words, beyond his already proven song writing abilities. It was fascinating learning of his life and travels, and even more so, because the book made we realize the true-life stories behind the many JJW songs that I have loved for years. Highly recommended!
Lots of history of early 70's country crossover music, mainly the Austin type. Walker discusses his great colleagues and influences while remaining personally humble. Lots of high quality pics.
