The Beginning
'Okay, we need a hammer,' Jenny said to me.
I just looked around; why was she asking me? Did I look the type of person who would carry a hammer?
"Oh, i'm sorry, I left that in my other dress."
"No need to be all funny. We only want a look."
Luckily for us, our spy wasnt that far behind, so we called her over to take a look. Camille would surely say no. Unfortunatly she happened to take their side and agreed we should "investigate." This was so not my day.

I'm a college student, and i'm a teenager who lives Derbyshire. I can't get enough of reality American TV shows- mainly Teen Mom, Strorage Wars, Shipping Wars and Toddlers In Tiaras. I collect rocks, gaze at stars, and talk to plants, and I am completly insain, I have elephant head boppers to prove it.
I'm also the bookist who wrote "The Beginning" just so you know. *Goofy grin and over dramatic imaginary pom-pom wave.*

The Beginning is an absolutely fantastic book! It's incredibly well structured and well written and enthrals the reader from start to finish! You get caught up in the story line and the characters have real voice. You won't be able to put it down, it's a spellbinding read!

Sophie May Wilkinson is one of the most talented authors whom I have had the privilege to read books by, which is amazing considering this is her first book and she is only 17 years of age! The Beginning is one of the most riveting books I have read, constantly keeping my attention - I literally was unable to put it down!
I wasn't alive in 1942 England during the war, but Sophie May Wilkinson made me feel as if I was! The Beginning is set from the perspective of Dorothy Braithwaite, a 15 year old girl who previously did not believe in parallel universes, but a chain of events causes this previous misconception to change as her world is turned upside down. As Dorothy and her companions travel through parallel universes in a search for Fran, her best friend’s, parents, they come up against people attempting to stop them in their tracks. The beginning brings moral questions into the action filled story as Dorothy is forced to make a choice between what is right and what is easy.
Each of the characters has their own set of qualities making them distinctive to the reader; at no point did I need to flick back to a previous chapter to clarify anything - which has often been the case with previous books that I have read. Further to this, I felt as if I was experiencing each turn of the events alongside the characters, which is credit to the author’s writing techniques, as the reader is made to feel as though they know the characters on a personal basis rather than just reading about them!
Overall, The Beginning is a must-read book for anyone and everyone. It is suitable to all generations and styles of readers. The author incorporates action, sci-fi, fantasy and history into just over 200 pages, which is absolutely amazing. I can’t wait for the next book into the series to be released and will be the first in the queue to but it!
