Destiny

Rate this book
Would you defy your destiny? Or would you accept it no matter the consequences...

The Malone family is uprooted from their home in Miami when dad Jonathan gets a job offer that is impossible to refuse. The offer includes use of a huge, historic house, and tuition to one of the world’s most exclusive private schools for sixteen year old Aislyn and her seventeen year old brother Devin. Both the house and school are located in the well-known Boston suburb of Salem, Massachusetts. Unbeknownst to the family, Jonathan Malone is not the real person of interest to his new and mysterious employer Julian Hobbs…Aislyn is.

Julian and his closest friends Simon and Leoni have spent their lives looking for Aislyn Malone. Just like them, Aislyn is a 13th generation descendant of the Salem Witch Trials and is the one destined to break a curse on Salem. Aislyn knows nothing of her family’s history, but immediately feels a strange connection to her new town.

As Aislyn's life is fractured into three parts; home, school, and the destiny she learns about not only from Julian, but also through "visits" with her ancestors from the 17th and 18th centuries, she realizes that her life will never be the same again. But will she accept the role she was destined to play in history?

No one in Salem is who they seem and everyone has secrets they are determined to keep from Aislyn. As these secrets are revealed, can she forgive the people who have befriended her for hiding important details of her destiny?

I got this book for free on my e-reader. It was interesting to learn about the history of some of the Salem Witch Trials, but there were some parts of the fictional story that were dragged on. I wish that there were more story lines in the book that could stand alone. I would still give the next book a try.
