Resisting the Rancher

Rate this book
She's his best friend's sister, but he's ready to break all the rules…

Country veterinarian Celia Gamble is in trouble. A misunderstanding from her past is rearing its ugly head and the only person she can turn to is Jonah Clarke—her family’s lawyer and, as it turns out, her brother’s best friend and her childhood crush. She always wanted Jonah to see her as a bona fide woman, but as a woman who’s being blackmailed for seducing a married man? Not on her life.

Jonah is happy to help Little CeeCee Gamble, if only she’d come clean about why she’s being blackmailed. But with his best friend Zach’s wedding on the horizon, and Zach’s fashionista fiancée Desiree giving CeeCee a makeover, the little duckling Jonah remembers is turning into a definite swan. And the unwritten law on sisters is clear—hands off. Jonah must resist or lose the only true family he’s ever known.

aka Roxanne Willems-Snopek.

USA TODAY bestselling author Roxanne Snopek writes contemporary romance both sexy and sweet, in small towns, big cities, on secluded islands and sun-drenched beaches, with families and communities that will warm your heart. Her fictional heroes (like her own real-life hero) are swoon-worthy, uber-responsible, secretly vulnerable and occasionally dough-headed, but animals love them, which makes everything okay.

Avid gardener, soup-maker and bread-eater, Roxanne writes from British Columbia, Canada, surrounded by dogs, cats, deer, squirrels and occasionally bear and bobcat. When she thinks of it, she does yoga and cleans the house. Well, not that last thing.

When Celia returns to her home town to open her veterinary practice, she brings with her a world of trouble. While she was still a student, a family tragedy caused her to fall behind. Headed for failure she found a helping hand from the wrong guy and now she is being blackmailed and the family business is being threatened.

She turns to Jonah, the guy who she followed around when she was a kid. Now he's a lawyer who goes out of his way to avoid sticky legal situations, but he's always been attracted to Celia and before he knows it he's helping her with her legal problems. As Celia pushes Jonah's buttons, Jonah struggles to come to terms with the now grown up and very sexy woman he swore to always protect.

Resisting the Rancher is pretty good contemporary romance. It occasionally loses its way, some aspects of the story were a little under done, and the resolution was quite sudden but those problems are outshone by the main character Celia who is really kind of cool and saves this book from mediocrity.

She's so cool that I wish the book was all about her. It didn't really need the blackmail subplot and in some ways that detracted from the best part of the story.

Many thanks to Roxanne Snopek for providing me with this ARC

So when I was offered the chance to read Resisting the Rancher, this was pretty much what went down…

description

…because I have to confess that Three River Ranch is my favourite series in Entangled’s Bliss line. I am a complete sucker for a man in a Stetson and as Lutherton is home to many, it is one of my favourite places to visit. This time the focus is on Celia Gamble and Jonah Clarke and whilst their story could be read as a standalone, personally I would recommend reading the series, or at least His Reluctant Rancher, as the characters are related and the story intertwines. It will mean much more.

I had reservations over Celia; Zach’s younger sister hasn’t been that endearing previously. Her attitude left a little to be desired, but in her defence she’s faced huge personal tragedy. She’s a stubborn, independent tomboy and when she returns home to open her vetinary practice, her past surfaces to stir some trouble and she turns to Jonah; lawyer, workaholic and her brothers best-friend. He’s been no stranger in the previous books but we have only scratched his surface. As we have Celia’s.

I loved them together. Whilst their chemistry wasn’t explosive, this was absolutely not a bad thing. They’ve known each other their entire lives; they’ve irritated the hell out of one another, protected one another and have a raft of happy and sad memories to go with it. They’re realistic and this is why their chemistry was perfect yet they were so different to any of our previous couples. It was heartfelt and humorous and Jonah became exactly the man I was hoping for during the second half of the book whilst Celia finally redeemed herself to me.

Roxanne Snopek has a gift of bringing us completely loveable, frustrating, feisty, funny characters. Each couple has been special in their own way but Carson Granger will always be my favourite man of the series – he saved puppies and ponies for goodness sakes, who can resist that? If an easy-read sweet romance is what you’re after, then this is a book/series that is just that.

Heartrending contemporary romance that tugs at your emotions

Resisting the rancher is the fourth book within the ‘three river ranch’ series, by assured writer Roxanne Snopek. This intriguing tale contains interesting, flamboyant characters that capture your imagination as they take you on a personal journey of growth and enlightenment. Anyone who finds relationships fascinating will enjoy this deliciously detailed tale, of broken hearts and soul searching that’s so refreshing. I was taken on a roller coaster ride of unforgettable significance, profound poignancy and heartfelt sincerity. Celia and Jonah’s stories moved me inwardly and I was left feeling a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment after finishing reading this book.

A tantalizingly tempting treat of deception, love and heartache that’s deftly woven and beautifully executed with warmth and depth. Within the compelling, beguiling narrative is a sense of truism and authenticity; if you compare Roxanne’s characters to ‘real life’. I was truly touched by this sublime story that’s ideal for lazy summer days and holiday reading, as something to ‘get stuck into’ and really enjoy. If you are a fan of romance, contemporary fiction and classic tales that speak from the heart then I would highly recommend this great series.

4 stars

I would like to thank “Entangled Publishing” for providing me with an e-copy of this book, for reading and review purposes. This is an honest, non-biased review.

I loved this book I loved Celia and Jonah and those two together are PERFECT! Jonah I think it's great he's starting to come forth with his feelings for Celia after a long time, "Celia!" Jonah reached the barn door ahead of her and barred it with his body. He held up a hand. "You're not a dumb kid to me." I mean he may be a family friend but where Celia is concerned he's still a red blooded man, "he leaned over Celia's shoulder, watching her fill out her paperwork. And accidentally getting a nice view down her top. Red lace and cleavage, too, this time. Accident, my a**. His thoughts were about as cooperative as that last heifer had been." I mean the boy has some moves, "he walked up to her, his steps slow, deliberate. When he reached her, he placed both hands on the exam table, one on either side of her slim hips. He bent down, forcing her to lean backwards. When his lips were right next to hers, and her thighs were caught in his, and his groin snuggled up tight against hers, he smiled." Sometimes the boy has to explain things to his girl, "I had to," he answered with a low chuckle. He nudged her with his hip. "Feel that? That's what happened last time, too. Scared the crap out of me, I'll tell you."

I loved Celia and Jonah's story. They both have a special place in my heart.
Seeing them work through their fears and insecurities together left me full of happy feels. They are truly meant to be together :)

Three River Ranch has been a great series, I've enjoyed all the books and I highly recommend them.

I love and enjoy Roxanne Snopek's work and I'm looking forward to reading more in the near future.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Entangled Bliss for the advance copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I have always loved the song (Kissed You) Good Night by Gloriana. I love the passion in it. Well the song actually happens in this book and I loved it! Check it out here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzMQu...

We have Celia Gamble who has returned home after finishing vet school to practice at home. She has equipment set up and a place above it to live in. But after her brother died, she struggled in school and met a man who helped her. That man had an interest in Celia and she in him. But, turns out he’s married. OOPS! She stopped that really quickly once she found out. But his wife had other plans and that included blackmail and Celia didn’t know what to do, she did not want to tell her family. So she has no choice but to get help from Jonah, Celia’s crush growing up, and her brother Zach’s best friend.

Jonah sees that Celia is all grown up. And maybe he notices a little too much because where Celia is concerned it is hands off. Celia’s brothers made Jonah an honorary brother to protect Celia.

Sparks are flying everywhere between the two. Celia still wants him. Jonah wants her but can’t give in or Zach will cut him off from the family. Celia has been sheltered all her life with her brothers around and she is tired of it. So, when she gets a makeover from Des before Des and Zach’s wedding, she feels more empowered and decides to go after Jonah. Who cares what Zach says!!

But with the crazy wife of her previous unfortunate affair and Jonah’s conscious, and Zach’s brotherly overkill, it isn’t easy for them. Everyone in town sees the attraction between the two. They just need to acknowledge it themselves! The chemistry is off the charts with these two.

I love that in this book it seems that Celia is the more take charge girl instead of the guy going after the girl. I loved watching her transform throughout the book.

Jonah is *sigh*, swoonworthy, dreamy, kind, sweet, etc.....

I love small town and family stories. I love the ranch. I loved the ending. SO SO CUTE! Never saw that coming!

If you like families, watching people transform and grow, a sweet love story, a story with a crazy woman, ranches, horses, silly t shirts, animals, sweet kisses, lingerie, lawyers, and going after what you want than this is the book for you!

Jonah Clarke is a contract lawyer, dead set on not taking on any juvenile cases when a girl brings a dog in need to him. He's a lawyer, not a vet, so he brings the dog to the new vet in town--Celia Gamble, his deceased best friend's little sister. Celia's had a crush on Jonah since they were kids and though she's run into legal trouble of her own, she isn't willing to seek any advice from Jonah.

The two try to deny their feelings until they can't anymore.
"No hiding, honey. It's time to face this. I want you. You want me. What's the problem?"

Jonah deals with the guilt of having feelings for his best friend's little sister.
"You're not little CeeCee to me anymore." Jonah's voice was husky. "And I don't know what to do with that."

Celia deals with thinking he'll never see her as anything other than a kid. All the while, Celia's got a serious problem that could affect her family's business as well as her new practice. And Jonah's the only one she can turn to for help.

What happens when they finally give in to their feelings?
"I'm not made of glass, Jonah. If you kiss me again, I won't break."

Though I didn't particularly love Jonah or Celia--he was too hot and cold, she got a little too bitchy for me--they were authentic, and I was rooting for them to get it together. I liked their banter and their familiarity with each other. I loved the advice that other characters gave them, especially Des.
"It's about how you feel, confident and happy inside your own skin. Believing that you are fantastic, like you are a treasure, a secret, a present waiting to be unwrapped."

Give Resisting the Rancher a try if you're looking for a quick read with fun characters and a cute ending.

Another great book in the series "The Three River Ranch". This was just as good as the first 3 books and I hope that she writes more. Even though these are on the tame side, the author does a fabulous job of bringing the characters to life and making you feel what they are feeling. There is passion and romance and a little suspense. This book pulled at the heartstrings and had me on edge the whole time. The writing flowed flawlessly and the plot was very real and the setting that the author describes was just beautiful.

It is amazing what happens when two people grow up together and their feelings change over time. Jonah grew up with Celia and for the longest time she was just his best friends little sister, but then she grew up and now Jonah can't seem to wrap his head around how beautiful she is and how attracted he is to her. I loved reading about his conflicting emotions and just how he dealt with them. I kind of felt sorry for him, he was in Love with his best friends sister, his best friends untouchable sister. Celia sure did chase hard though, she had a crush that stemmed from childhood and just grew stronger when she needed Jonah's help. Both Jonah and Celia have underlying emotional barriers that they need to work through and in working through them a tremendous love for each other blossoms. They have a great chemistry together already and it only grows stronger as their relationship grows throughout the story.

Once again the secondary characters in this book are fantastic, although you don't get to read as much about some of them as you did in previous books, but they are there all the same. I really wonder where the author is going next in the series?

If you have read the other books in the series you have to read this one, if not you need to go and pick up the first book and read them straight through. This has been a delightful story and series to read, all of the books are written with an amazing passion and filled with lots of sweet romance. Loved It!

4 1/2 stars! This was the one in the series I was most looking forward to because when we met Cee Cee Gamble for the first time in His Reluctant Rancher she was the spunky but difficult "little sister." Now in Resisting the Rancher we get to see Celia Gamble as an adult, still spunky but having had to mature through some tough circumstances.

My favourite aspect of the whole Three River Ranch series is the way Roxanne Snopek characterizes the animals. Mistral and Chewy seem like old friends by now; Cyclops and JD are the newest additions. And the horses are always present because of their place on the ranch(es) but also because of the relationships the human characters have with them.

Although I don't usually read romance, I always read Roxanne Snopek's fiction because it includes everything I want in a story: well developed characters, a memorable setting, excellent dialogue, a heart-rate raising plot line and true-to-life resolutions of conflict. I only approve of "happy endings" if they are truly believable and I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't read this latest novel yet. But trust me: Snopek knows what she's doing!

Full disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of Resisting the Rancher for an honest review. I would have loved the story to be a bit longer, set over a longer period of time--but it's not really a weakness to leave your readers wanting more.

This book features several tropes that are my romance catnip! We've got 'friends-to-lovers', overlaid with 'resistant love' (what the SmartBitches call "I'm not supposed to like you / I don't wanna like you / I can't stop thinking about your hair DAMMIT"), garnished with cowboys, on a ranch that raises what I am assuming is grass-fed beef, though they call it "sustainable". So much to like, before we even get to the heroine, a veterinarian whose professional competence exceeds her personal confidence, and the hero, a lawyer whose professional confidence has taken a few hits but left his charisma intact.

The biggest obstacles to Jonah and Celia's getting together is their inability let go of outdated beliefs about themselves and each other, and their willingness to let the feelings and opinions of others guide their behaviour, even if that means not being together. Fortunately, each of them helps build the other's confidence, and eventually they come clean about their feelings, to each other and the whole wide world, and they earn their happy-ever-after.

Given the early emphasis on the Blackmail of Impending Doom, I expected it to be a stronger element of the plot, but it caused hardly a ripple, and got wrapped up very tidily. But Jonah and Celia had plenty else to be concerned and angsty about: Celia's family, JD the rescued dog, troubled teens dealing with the juvenile justice system, building a veterinary practice, the impending wedding of Zach and Des (from a previous book in the series), and of course their own can we/can't we attraction and escalating affection and interdependence.

One of my favourite things about this series is the way the author presents the setting. In her hands, Montana ranching country comes to life, whether in summer dust or winter ice and mud.

Resisting the Rancher is a cute romance with cowboys and a feisty veterinarian!

Celia Gamble, our heroine, was a rangy tomboy when she left Three River Ranch to go to vet school. She has returned to Three River Ranch a feisty, determined, curvy woman. She is definitely tired of being under her brother's protection. It was the hardest thing for her to confide in Jonah when she needed legal assistance.

Jonah Clarke is Celia's brother's best friend and the town's only attorney. Celia's brother would not be a happy camper if he knew about Jonah's attraction to Celia! Not only is Celia his best friend's little sister but she's also his client! She's a big no no for him!

I like the good friends into much more story line and the way it works with a tomboy turned woman. I enjoyed watching both of our characters fight their demons and mature.

I caught myself laughing out loud multiple times while reading this story. For instance, when Jonah was fighting his attraction to Celia and he was preparing to spend the day assisting her in determining how many cows were pregnant, Jonah voiced to Celia: "What are you wearing?" "Coveralls. Shit-kickers. Long, latex gloves." He blinked. "can't wait to see you take them off." LOL! Priceless...

Resisting the Rancher can be read as a stand alone book as I've not previously read any of the preceding books in this series. However, since reading Resisting the Rancher, I now have Three River Ranch, the 1st book in the series, loaded on my reader. :-)))

Bottomline: This was an engaging romance, written well, with great characters and a very good story line. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romances.

She's his best friend's sister, but he's ready to break all the rules...

I was kindly sent an ARC from Entangled Publishing, Thank You!

Now I have never read any Bliss books before, nor I have I read any of Roxanne Snopek's book before so I went in to this book with no prior experience!

Resisting the Rancher is a Three River Ranch novel, the story centres around the Gamble family, specifically Celia "CeeCee" Gamble.

Returning the heart of her family after training to be a Veterinarian, Celia Gamble sets up her new business at the family ranch and begins her new life with her family and old friends, including her brother's best friend Jonah Clarke.

Celia has always had a soft spot for Jonah but he has always seen her as his best friends little sister but when a emaciated dog is found near his office, he calls the vet out and gets a shock - Celia has grown up!

But unbeknownst to him Celia has problems, big problems! She is being blackmailed and if it becomes common knowledge it could destroy everything she has worked so hard on.

The story progresses with Celia opening up to Jonah about the blackmail, it also sees her blossom as she gets ready for her brother's wedding and Jonah starts to see her in a whole new light.

Celia and Jonah fight against their mutual attraction, he helps her when her past comes back to bite her in the ass in the form of the blackmailer who has a whole pack of screws loose.

This is a lovely book, as I mentioned I have not read any of these books before after reading this book I would like to discover more of this series.

I award Resisiting The Rancher 4 out 5 stars, a lovely read!

Posted on What I'm Reading

I have to say that I enjoyed reading Resisting the Rancher, then again I have enjoyed every Three River Ranch book. This time we are hanging out with Zach's little sister Celia. Basically, everyone in the story still sees Celia as little CeeCee and they don't realize that she's all grown up. As hard as she tries to prove everyone wrong. Well, she finds herself in a pickle, because what happen while at school. Her past has followed her back to her hometown. She calls on the help of Jonah. Now she's been in love with Jonah forever and she would love him to see that she's more than the little. Of course he does, but he's kind of afraid to lose his surrogate family and best friend.

What I really enjoyed about the story is how Jonah starts to see his best friend's sister in a whole new light. Of course, his fears play a huge roll and whether he should conquer or retreat. I love Celia and how she proves she's more than a little sister. I adore Desiree for helping Celia to find her self-confidence. Like all Bliss books it has a sweet story, and a happy ending. I'm just glad Jonah came to his senses.

Favorite Line:
"Love doesn't come with the risk of pain. It carries a guarantee of pain. Of course, you'll hurt each other. Then you'll force each other to change and grow into better people. You'll become stronger, and more vulnerable at the same time."

Roxanne Snopek is an author who never fails to tug at my heartstrings. She always manages to put just the right words and emotions into her writing to bring tears to my eyes.

In Resisting the Rancher, you get the real life emotions of an older brother trying to protect his baby sister, while realizing that she isn't a baby any longer. Celia Gamble is living life as best she can after a tragic accident destroyed her family. Celia is trying to be brave and face the world on her own, only to make a horrible mistake.

Jonah Clarke has always felt that he was a burden and had to be a certain way because his parents gave up what they loved to send him to college. As a young lawyer who was overwhelmed, he made a mistake that cost someone their life. Since then, he doesn’t have a desire to work with kids.
Celia and Jonah are two people who have been dancing around the way they feel about each other since childhood. Jonah is the best friend of Celia’s brother and has been treated like the third son forever. Jonah knows that he can’t risk destroying the relationship he has with the Gamble family. However, with Celia making passes at him after her makeover, she’s making it very hard to resist.

When Celia’s past mistake comes back with a vengeance, Jonah is the only person she can turn to. In the process of getting her past worked out, the two make discoveries about themselves and each other.

Resisting the Rancher Roxanne Snopek's fourth book in the Three River Ranch Series is the story of Celi Gamble the new country veterinarian who has a misunderstanding from her past coming back to cause her problems. Celia turns to her brother's friend and long time crush Jonah Clarke for help.

I love Roxanne Snopek's Three River Ranch Series. This was another great story. The story of the forbidden love from the past finding their way to love in the future.

I love that both Celia and Jonah have lost themselves and they are trying to find there way back . Celia is trying to find where she belong when she returns home. Celia has always been the little sister and now she wants to show everyone she is a strong woman. Jonah has gone through something being a lawyer and with his family. He always been Celia protector but now he notice for the woman she is turning into and he is not sure how to handle that. They both go through their own transformation leading them to find out what they really want.

I love how this book intertwines with the all the character from the previous books.

I had a hard time putting this book down. I love the way the story is told. Another great book for Roxanne Snopek.

This is the fourth book in the Three Rivers Ranch series and the second I have read. In this book, Celia Gamble, Zach's youngest sister, is back in town to set up her veterinary practice. Unfortunately, a disgruntled person from her past is stirring up trouble. Help comes from Jonah Clarke. Jonah is one of her brother's best friends and is her former crush which makes getting help from Jonah, the only lawyer she knows, difficult.

There is obvious chemistry between the two but both are somewhat reluctant. Celia is worried he only sees her as CeCe Zach's little sister. Jonah is torn because he believes it is his job to look after Celia but not in the way his body is wanting to look after her.

I really loved this story. Snopek once again does a great job immersing you into life at Three Rivers Ranch. Old characters make there way back into the story and fan's of Zach and Desiree they will be happy to getting more of their story. This was a sweet read that has laugh out loud funny moments, and others that will definitely bring a tear to your eye. It is a refreshing read without any annoying characters or over the top drama. Definitely another winner for Snopek.

I found Resisting the Rancher to be a fun, cute story. Celia has always had a crush on her brother's best friend, Jonah, but she thinks he views her as just a kid. Of course, the way she dresses doesn't exactly help him view her as a grown woman, but Jonah is attracted to her no matter what she's wearing.

When Celia needs help due to threats she has received, she reluctantly turns to Jonah who is a lawyer. I enjoyed the relationship between Celia and Jonah, but I felt that the whole blackmail story wasn't that serious. It kind of frustrated me how Celia felt that she couldn't turn to anyone about that situation. I can understand not wanting to bring any embarrassment to the family, but I never felt like it was anything to be all that embarrassed about.

Overall, I did enjoy this story, not just because of Celia and Jonah but also because of all the supporting characters. They really added to the charm of the town and the story.

In Resisting the Rancher by Roxanne Snopek, Celia Gamble is in real big trouble. She has just opened her practice as a country veterinarian and is having a bit of a hard time getting people to bring in their animals to her. It takes time to build trust and a clientele, but now all her hard work is in danger of falling apart.

A misunderstanding and an error from her past is rearing its ugly head and she needs help to make it go away. Unfortunately she needs legal help and the only person who can help her is her brother’s best friend and the family’s lawyer, Jonah Clark. But Jonah is also her childhood crush and the person she has always dreamed of seeing her as a bona fide woman. Which means that she cannot tell him about her error for that would only make her look terrible, and there is the chance that he will tell her family. Read More...

The premise of this story was great. I loved the history and growth shown by the characters. I found myself really rooting for them. The side characters added a lot of depth to the story as well. There was a lot of sexual tension and a sex scene, but it was handled pretty well. I wish the swearing would have been left out. I see no reason to add it in. Especially taking the name of the Lord in vain. Very easy to change without effecting the story line at all! A fun story, but I will have to be very selective about which friends I would recommend it to because of the language & sex.

When I received this book, I was under the impression that it would be a clean romance. I don't believe the author and I have the same opinion of the definition of a "clean romance". I could not bring myself to finish this book because the language and sexual tension too much. It seemed like that was the only thing on everyone's mind.

I did like the main characters and always enjoy a fun "girl next door grows up" story. I probably would have enjoyed this book if the author had chosen better dialogue... less cursing, more clever banter. And less lusting.

Resisting The Rancher by Roxanne Snopek was such a laugh out loud, emotional read that had my attention from the start. Strong character dialogue and many laughable, likeable characters that keep your attention to the story. Celia and Jonah's characters had so much emotional baggage to work through and family issues to contend with. The story flowed well all throughout the book.
A laugh out loud delightful story with a pleasant ending.

Celia Gamble is all grown up, and opening a vet practice in her home town. Most remember her as the skinny little girl, always trying to catch up with her brothers and their friends. But she's a woman now, with a mistake she made in her past haunting her, and her newly found independence. She has only one person she can turn to, Jonah, the boy/man she has always had a crush on. Can she trust him?

I enjoyed this book and just a little upset to find out that this is book 4 in the series. However, you really don't lose much and can read this as a stand alone. The characters were enjoyable and the banter between them was fun and sexy. I loved the history between Celia and Jonah. It was a sweet book. My only complaint was that the ending felt rushed. But, it was a good read.

I really enjoyed Celia and Jonah's story. Always love an older brother's best friend trope. So much fun! I've read a couple of books by Roxanne Snopek, so I'm not at all surprised that I have fallen in love with yet another one of her stories. The author consistently provides the reader with great, likeable characters, a terrific storyline, and fantastic writing.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved watching Celia become more than a childhood friend to Jonah. A fun and flirty read that I loved!! Roxanne Snopek has delivered yet again! An awesome addition to her Three River Ranch series!

Resisting the Rancher is Celia and Jonah's story and what a story it is.  There is definite attraction between the vet and the lawyer but being childhood friends and best friends with her brother Zach has Jonah running away from Celia every chance he can.  It doesn't matter how much he's tempted or that their chemistry is off the charts Jonah tries to do what he feels is right.  Of course,  Celia doesn't agree with his thinking and does everything she can to force his hand.  He also knows what her brother will do if he sniffs around his baby sister and tries to stay strong and fight his feelings but how does that work out?

The family still has ghosts from the death of Zach and Celia's brother, Cale, which is one of the reasons why Zach doesn't let Celia breathe.  Celia fights him all she can but with secrets she's trying to keep hidden so not to hurt her family or lose the respect of the people in her town she doesn't always make the best decisions but Jonah seems to always be there when she needs him.

It was nice that the characters we've met in the previous books in the series were all featured in Resisting the Rancher .  There are family businesses, family and friends, animals, a wedding to plan, secrets, blackmail, a psycho, laughter, tears, anger, hurt, fear, makeovers, legal matters, loving and love.  My emotions were involved throughout and I often wanted to shake Jonah just like his assistant, Ann-Marie does!  There were highs and lows to the character's emotions but someone was always there to help them through.  There was some closure and a happily ever after in the offing that was cutely portrayed but an epilogue would have been nice.

I've now read all four books in the Three River Ranch series plus the novella.  All were enjoyable reads.  I hope there are more books in the series because Paris and Melissa need a book or novella written for them.  Snopek is an author whose books I will look for as they are published.  Her books that I haven't read yet will be added to my always growing TBR pile!

Favorite Quote: GQ-polished Jonah was formidable.  But Jonah in jeans?  Lethal.

Yes and no

I liked Cecile as a veterinary and wish her daily tasks had been expanded to give her depth. Her potential to be interesting was lost as was Jonah's possibilities in the swamp of pages and pages of sappy feelings, angst, and continuous and way overdone 'electricity' yawn...Expecting this author to mature in writing to include real character development.
