The Time of Chaos

Rate this book
Patricia Dubois was excited to be moving out of the big city to a wonderful country home in New Hope. Her physician husband, Loren, bought an old country house and had it renovated and stocked with supplies. There, he was sure that Patricia and the children would be safe.

Little did they know or even dream that The Time of Chaos was coming so very soon...but he knew, oh, how he knew.

What these Survivors did not know was that the secret elitist government, which had become corrupt and tyrannical, had secretly launched a designer virus attack to reduce the population.

On the heels of this virus comes the soldiers, controlled by the elitists, at least until they too fall victim to their masters' own flawed plans.

The small bands of The Survivors all undertake a journey through Hell, struggling to stay alive. All different but still seeking that mysterious safe haven known as New Hope.

Will they make it? Will anyone manage to survive The Time of Chaos?

I liked the story, but the writing wasn't very good. The sentence structure was actually pretty bad, reading like a first draft at times. Errors like the pet named Fang was initially referred to as a cat, two pages later we find out it's a dog. Then Fang was referred to as a "she", two sentences later as a "he". The book was long-winded with too much talk about food. I did not need to know what was eaten at every meal and the quantities of food eaten, or every cup of coffee, tea or cocoa that they drank. These characters sure seemed to eat and drink a lot!! A lot of nonsense could have been edited out. That being said, I enjoyed the story and found it hard to put down at times, especially towards the end when everything comes together in the last 40% or so.

Unlike some "apocalyptic" books I have read, the author really took the time to develop the story and the characters. And with a lot of characters, this was welcome as a way to connect and remember each of them. However, there were times that some explanations become redundant and the chapters were long without obvious breaks (makes it hard to stop at logical points).

However, I really enjoyed the premise as it wasn't the usual and am looking forward to the next book!
