Sorry this is later than I thought it would be! A couple of things came up that meant I couldn’t even get to my laptop until about an hour ago, and of course I had some re-reading and such to do. But here you go!

I’d planned to post the first five pages or so, but because of the delay, I’m posting the first twelve and a half. I hope you guys like it!! Please help me spread the word that it’s here!

NOTE: This is NOT the final draft. Some slight changes may be made between this version and the final printed version.

Stacia Kane is the author of the light-hearted romantic urban fantasy "Megan Chase" series starting with PERSONAL DEMONS.

She currently writes the gritty dystopian urban fantasy "Downside" series starring Chess Putnam and featuring ghosts, human sacrifice, drugs, witchcraft, punk rock, and a badass '69 Chevelle. She bleaches her hair and wears a lot of black.

It's 2021 and I still stop by this page every once in a while just hoping there will be a release date. I think we've all accepted that this series has come to an end, but I'll be hiding a secret hope for a very long time yet.

Update December 2017 Well, I see there is a new publish date of December 2018. I've waited four years, what's one more?

Still randomly checking to see if we will ever get more Chess and Terrible even 10 years after reading the last book.

It has been years since I read book 5, and I still check in on book 6 from time to time in the hope of an update. These characters have stayed with me for so long and I really miss them! Whenever book 6 does come out I will most definitely be re-reading the entire series in preparation!!

It's 2023, 11 years since the last book in the series was published and three years since Stacia Kane's blog breathed new hope into the universe that we'll see book 6. With Kresley Cole finally releasing the final book of the Arcana Chronicles after a 5 year tease and no real news, I thought checking this page wasn't so silly after all.

But, 11 years. I think it's time I called it, let the hope finally die, and add it to my "Abandoned by Author" shelf. 💔

I come back and check here, and her blog every 6 months or so. Honestly it would just be nice if she’d just say she’s not finishing it. So many people waiting on a promised release and this woman has an excuse for literally everything. I get it, I do. But she gets peoples hopes up, says see you next week, then pops in 18 months later all ooops 🤷‍♀️ Just woman up already and stick to what you say for once!! 😂

True fact: I love candy. Adore it, actually. Gummies, chocolate, bubblegum especially. Even lollipops. Love them all. But I would totally turn my back on my beloved candy and never eat a piece again in my life if this book were promised to be released soon. I am fairly certain I like this series more than candy and that's a pretty heavy admission. And I'm almost done with the last book available, which is also pretty heavy. Like Chess, I am also an addict. My drug is this series :)

Such a great world. Would love to explore Downside more, some of the characters were getting really interesting. Would absolutely read anything else that came out.
