Beck Wolffbrandt is not good for me —
He's not good period.

He is unhinged; without abandon. His darkness calls to the depraved parts of me, relieving me of all rational thought processes.

I can't help but want all the things he thinks he can't offer me.

My pursuit of him quickly morphs into a dangerous game I'm not sure either of us can win.

I'm willing to risk everything to show him what we could be.

Including my life.

F*ck, I loved this one!! Too bad my family kept interrupting my reading. 😂😂😂 Otherwise, I would have finished it in one sitting.

It wasn't as dark as I expected, it also had some funny moments, but it was entertaining and kept me glued to my kindle, since I was really curious how everything will play out by the end.

Just one thing annoyed me, hence the not so perfect 5-star rating. At one point, near the end of the book, he goes and k1lls just a random guy, in the woods, not knowing anything about him. That was so out of nowhere. He just needed something to help him calm and ground himself, and this guy was the unlucky victim. I got him, but also I didn't 😂.

Also, I wanted a little bit more background on her side. We got his background, so we could understand him since he's the more complicated one, but a little bit more in-depth details on her life would have been nicer. At least we know she’s also a monster/ rh romance reader 😂.

The end also felt rushed, how everything wrapped up, it was a little bit confusing, but everything clicks together by the end. Understandable, considering the length of the book.

Anyway, I loved this one!!! It was a fast read, full of spicy times, some were quite hot, some plot, some relationship growth - really fast that was, from strangers to obsessed lovers in 3.5 seconds 😂, but I'm not complaining, not at all!! It may seem that there's mostly lust and physical connection between them, but I really felt like they did fit together. At least for me, they made complete sense, and I was so rooting for them 🖤.
Sooo, if you don’t like insta everything, just turn around 🏃‍♀️, because this one is not for you! 🤭😁👋

He's a k1ller for the big bad criminal lord in the city, and part-time a Dexter type of k1ller, always looking for those seedy bad guys that escaped the law, in one way or another; That's how he met the h. And it was obsession at first side, for both of them.

She really got him. She was sassy, she was sweet, she just matched his crazy. I loved how quickly she became his everything. He really said he'll do anything to make her happy. 🥵🤩

I'm not sure if I'll continue the series, maybe if I'll be in the mood for an RH type of story since the next one is MMFM.

⚠️⚠️ Mind your triggers for this read! Entire list of TW on the author's website! ⚠️⚠️

What to expect
- standalone in an interconnected series (that's what I think since we met in this book the main characters from the next one)
- 21 h, 22 H (hope I got their ages correct)
- V H, she’s his first and never-ending love 🤩
- he does everything in his power to keep her safe
- they really are soul mates 🥰
- 🥵 times, some scenes were shorter, some more extended and detailed, it was just perfect in my opinion, since a lot happened in only 200 pages 🫢
- dark humor here and there, there were some fun scenes
- some twists at the end, didn't expect at least one of them 👀
- no 3rd act breakup - no time for that 😂🫡
- no OP drama
- HEA

"“She’s like… the way it feels when you visit the ocean for the first time. Or…” I hesitated, considering. “Like the moment you see the light behind a person’s eyes go out, and you know it was at your hand,” The corner of my mouth lifted of its own accord.
“Shit.” Ijah cursed.
“What?” I frowned.
“Unexpected, that’s all.” Sam chortled."

--- 🤭😂😂🥰

"This girl had me fucking feral.
This was all so new for me, I was genuinely at a loss for what to do about… any of it. It was almost as if I couldn’t bear to keep myself away from her. I wanted to crawl inside her chest cavity and make my home there.
Or rather, for her to crawl inside mine."

--- 🫠

"Only her. Cuore mio.
My heart.
Because I sure as fuck didn’t have one of my own before now. She was it somehow."

--- 🤩🥹🥰

“Now that we’ve established that,” he continued, “the most important thing is this: girls come first, and at least twice.”

--- yes Alec, you're absolutely right!! Also, that was a funny scene, the H taking advices from his friends since he had zero, zilch, nooo experience 🥹😂🤭

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

God I loved this book! It was very much “The monster in me sees the monster in you” & I’m a whore for serial killer romances so you know I ate this shit up. Beck is 🥵🥵 serial killer daddy - the possessiveness, the dark humor, the dirty talk, & the I hate everyone but you love gets me every time. JUST ALL AROUND SWOON. I swear I was blushing at one point.

I love a badass FMC & an unhinged MC!! They had the sweetest meet cute….they were both trying to kill the same guy & at that point they knew it was meant to be. The dark banter, the Harley Quinn & joker vibes/bonnie & Clyde was everything I wanted and more.

𝐓𝐫𝟎𝐩𝐞𝐬:
🖤 Vigilante Serial Killer Romance
🖤 Stabby MCs
🖤 Touch Him & Die
🖤 Harley Quinn & Joker Vibes
🖤 Hate Everyone But You
🖤 Spicy
🖤 Dark Humor
🖤 SWOON CITY
🖤 Virgin MC & Brat FMC
🖤 Spitting
🖤 Dual POV

“Be a good girl for me and try not to make too much of a mess of the seat. I would hate to have to make you lick it clean.”

“What the fuck are you doing to me?” - gets me every time

“All I wanted was to hear her scream my name as I fucked her into submission.”

“Cuore mio. My heart”

This was a solid four star read until a little over the halfway mark after which everything went downhill. Like, it just stopped making sense and felt like I just blinked and something random had happened like???? It felt like the author was in a rush to wrap up the book towards the end and didn't really take her time. Despite having one of my favorite tropes ever - the virgin hero trope - the ending made this whole book a bit anticlimatic. Regardless, it was a good read. It was cute. And funny. Cringey, at times. And kinda giving B&B vibes. Except less...gory. Also, I'm super confused about the man that Beck killed at the end for no reason?😭 He's known for unaliving scumbags and rapists so why some random, probably innocent man this time? Like I said above, after the 80% mark, things just DIDN'T. MAKE. SENSE. Lmao. A fast and mindless decent read imo overall.

safety squad:
- no OW/OM drama
- no cheating/sharing
- virgin hero
- heroine is sexually experienced, H wants to please her and learns for her despite never having lusted after any woman before
- serial killer H
- dark romcom-ish vibes?
- no condoms (H has had a vasectomy)

Dark Humor
Love to Hate
Love At First Sight
Unhinged Golden Retriever MC

I LOVED THIS BOOK! This is my first serial killer romance and I didn’t know what to expect. It drew me in right from the beginning. The dark humor , the Dexter vibes and the way the story came together I ate it all up. Beck the serial killing, dirty talking, stabby loving, possessive, Italian speaking hottie had me swooning. Every time he called her “cuore mio” melted my heart. Then we have TK who is such a badass. She can kill ‘‘em when need be. These two are like Bonnie and Clyde. I was immersed in this fascinating story.

TK and Beck were truly meant to be. Their meet cute was adorable. You find yourself rooting for this unhinged couple. How can a serial killer be a golden retriever? I don’t know but it worked. Then Genna came and turned up the spice level to 100 degrees. Was there anything I didn’t like about this book? None whatsoever. Anyone who is a fan of Dexter will love this book.

Thank you so much Genna for the ARC. This book is fantastic. 🫶🏼🤌🏼

This was definitely more of a 3.5

I rounded up because there were some things I love that I don’t find in books often which was a virgin MMC. Yes you read that right! They are so few and far in between I’m surprised when I find them in book. Our FMC was not a virgin but we weren’t told how experienced. This was basically an insta obsession/love for these two crazy kids. (21/22)

They met when Beck was murdering a guy that TK was trying to murder as well. She fell for him instantly and though she didn’t throw herself at him, she put herself in a position where she would have to see him again.

He was super OTT and possessive of her. She was his first EVERYTHING!! He’s never felt anything for anyone else before. He even had to watch some videos and ask his friends what he supposed to do in the bedroom because he had no idea.

So I loved the beginning of the book, I for sure thought it would be a 5 star read for me but then somewhere along the line it got boring. There were just a bunch of unnecessary sex scenes, way too many. Even both of the epilogues were sex scenes as if we needed to see them have sex two more times!! I also didn’t like the direction the conflict took. I wish it would have been resolved another way and I still have so many questions we didn’t get answers to.

I won’t be reading the next one because it’s a why choose which I’m bummed about. I would have rather it been just Hunt and Ijah because it’s clear he’s in love with her but the two besties had to be added for some reason. I may read the 3rd book though, it sounds interesting.

I’ve got so many issues with this book so I’ll make a list.

1. What kind of name for a city is Fate Trace? Is this like a Hell’s Kitchen situation or is that literally the name of a fictional city?

2. TK? Her name is TK? Why?

3. Way too fast paced.

4. So much time is spent reading about them boinking. Mister V-card holder at 20something is a god in the bedroom on his first try and is the best there ever was. Yeah sure Jan.

5. Insta love/lust. Yuck. Not even in a cute way that makes sense. They literally meet and within a couple days fall in love. He’s this supposed serial killer with no feelings that goes from that to mushy and in love with a stranger. Okay.

6. I feel like I was dropped into a world that was already established. You know how authors sometimes write a separate series in a world where a former series of theirs already takes place? Yeah, that’s what this felt like but it says first in a series and I didn’t do too much digging to find out if there’s an already established world built in this authors bibliography but I doubt it. Seems like it was just written with the hope we already know what’s going on and who these people are.

7. No questions answered for random things that I presume will be brought up in future books but will forever remain a mystery to me since I won’t be reading them.

8. The girl friends TK meets are placed there so the main female character doesn’t fall victim to the “I only exist in my man’s bubble and have no other life except what revolves around him” trope. Their friendships don’t happen organically, they’re thrown together and become besties for no reason other than the author didn’t want TK to be the only girl on page.

9. Literally nothing happened in this book. They meet, they do the devils tango, he does some weird stuff at the end that made no sense, and then it’s over. I know it’s a novella, but there could have at least been a plot that made sense and flowed properly.

Overall I would not recommend this series if you’re looking for your next 5 star read and need more than subpar sexy scenes to get by. I will not be continuing this series.

What the actual f*ck was that book. The plot line was flawed the characters relationship and personality was all over the place and didn’t make any sense half of the time. I could tolerate the beginning but the middle and end made me want to never pick this book up again and I wish I hadn’t. WTF was the ending I don’t know what was happening and was definitely getting whiplash at what I thought Beck had done and the chapters following it. The smut was questionable and had me feeling uneasy at times, (bare in mind I read and love dark romance). Their romance felt stale and completely driven by lust. I’m my opinion I don’t recommend reading this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶🌶🌶/5

TW - graphic violence, gore, death of a sibling, gun violence, drugs and addiction (not the MCs), death of a parent, intrusive thoughts RE death, torture, arson, murder

CW - toys, DP, public play, breath play, spit, light degradation, somnophilia

Tropes - dark, serial killer, MMC only likes her, obsessed, possessive, forced proximity

My initial reaction to Beck (MMC) was: he's sick. i like it

Beck is... deranged, but it works for him tbh. He defo found his match in TK (FMC) because the way these characters were MADE for each other is actually unreal

From their very first interaction I was like yep, this is it. Beck is the definition of I'll burn down the world for you and boy does he live up to that throughout the entirety of this book

This was a quick read and these two are HOT af 👅 I can't wait for Hunter's story 😏

Scale:
⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite
⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪

🫑 - no smut
🌶 - no point
🌶🌶 - mediocre at best
🌶🌶🌶 - standard smut, hot
🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 🥵 okay, some CW
🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 - fuck me 🥵🥵 CWs / filthy with a side of filth - see Poison / Room Twenty-Two: Hide and Seek

I loved this book and for how short it was thought that the plot was great. I definitely wish it was longer because I’m left with SO many questions. The spice was amazing and we get a virgin MC which is rare. We have a serial killer and a woman who’s not afraid of his darkness. It was essentially instant love but given their personalities it made sense. The author was able to get a lot into only 200 pages, but again I think everything happened so quickly that’s why I took a star away. We learned a lot about Beck’s past but absolutely nothing on Tate’s. She was quite the mystery through the whole book.

This easily could’ve been a 300-400 page read and it would’ve done the characters way more justice I think. Even with their smexy times, I almost wish that they hadn’t gone into him having such a dom vibe since he had been a virgin, constantly edging her and acting way more experienced. It would’ve been nice to see a build up to that.

Either way I’ll never be able to say bad things about a plot with a bad ass FMC and a possessive / I’ll do anything for her MC. They were perfect for each other and I’d love to see more of the other characters in the book get their own as well!

This could've been amazing, but the writing was terrible. Sometimes I didn't know what was happening, because it would come out of nowhere and transitions from scene to scene weren't smooth. This whole book felt like a draft and not an actual finished product. Some characters' actions didn't make sense. And it's sad, because this could've been great; the story is interesting, as well as characters.

There was a scene where I think I saw something between Ijah (I don't know how to pronounce this name, but it sounds like the sound someone makes when they sneeze) and Hunter, but I'm not sure I'd read their book, considering that he sounds like a manwhore and she was trapped in an abusive relationship. It sounded like he was sleeping around while she was being abused, and he's not a person I want to read about. Also, he did nothing to help her, and he must've known what was happening.
Andrea also sounded like an interesting character, but I don't think I can read another book with writing like this.

Ok this book was absolutely everything I needed to pull me out of a super thick reading slump.

I haven’t laughed this hard at a book in so long. It was hilarious in so many different ways, like the dialogue and the ridiculousness of the smut it was just EVERYTHING. I loved it. LOVED. IT

It was messed up. And it was AMAZING and perfect. I don’t even care what anyone else thinks about it 😂👌🏼

Did I nearly throw my kindle through a window and message my friend at 75% and say “actually don’t read this”? Yes. But I immediately took it back because what I thought happened didn’t and Genna Black you sly dog you. You almost got me ready to riot 😂

Excellent. The only thing left to say about it is thank you. Because I needed this one xo

A dark “cereal” k¡ller rom-com—I was 100% intrigued. Beck is completely unhinged, super p0ssessive, a “cereal” unaliver, and happens to be a v¡rgin. He and TK meet in the most usual way but hit it off. I couldn’t stop smiling throughout this story. Yes, these two characters are dark and do dark things, but they have the best rapport. I didn’t find the humor to be the over-top cheesiness kind. The comedic timing was perfect, and the two characters were hot together. The many spice scenes are phenomenal throughout the 209-page story. I’m so excited to read more from this author!

I know I have a dark sense of humour. Was this this a psycho-killer rom-com? Well anyways I liked it a lot! ⛳️⚾️🩸

“I wanted to crawl inside her chest cavity and make my home there. Or rather, for her to crawl inside mine. Either would suffice.”

Did you ever wonder what true love might look like for a psychotic killer? Who might he fall for? And what might he do for her? Well all these questions and more are answered in this short and super fun book!

The spice is spicy and our MMC Beck happens to be inexperienced yet perfectly knowledgeable. Boy knows how to talk 😈.

I really liked TK! Thanks for the female ADHD rep 🫶🏼. TK was unhinged and worked so well in the story.

At times I found myself laughing as this book gave me a sorta-kinda rom-com vibe. I also know I have a very dark sense of humour. Thus why I probably enjoyed this book.

No Small Sin was my first @authorgennablack book and I was such a fan! It was a fun and perfectly paced romance with a sexy unhinged MMC, Beck, and our quirky and morally grey FMC, TK. There is just something about a virgin *MMC* learning to pleasure his girl like a savant 😅😅 I liked that it was almost a rom com dark romance and I think if you’re a Butcher and Blackbird fan, this would be a great one to check out!

Genna Black does it again and this time, it’s in a dark romcom style that is reminiscent of Dexter meets Mindf*ck meets Black Sheep...and let me tell y’all, I am HERE for it. From page one to the very end, I was hooked on TK and Beck’s story, ever enthralled by their dark humor, stabby ways, and off the charts chemistry. Genna’s writing was superb and it’s clear she feels at home in this genre–I hope she never leaves because this is where she shines.

TK is one of my new favorite badass FMCs. She’s fierce, feisty, a little unhinged, and a lot confident in what she wants and needs in this life. I loved her brat energy and I hope it never ends. I loved that she was the one to stalk Beck when we get so much of the opposite in other books. It was a refreshing take on the cat and mouse game, though the chase didn’t have to go on for long because these two were clearly destined to spend the rest of their bloody days in each other’s arms.

Beck was just as great and if I wasn’t worried that TK would get all stabby on me, I’d do just about anything to get him to look my way. His innocence about all things romance (hello, smutty book reader–be still my heart) combined with his sure handed nature in the dark word of contract body disposal were such strong juxtapositions that brought an incredible level of depth to his character. I love a good dirty talker too...and Beck did not disappoint in this category one bit despite his lack of experience.

Instalove isnt usually my thing but I can certainly get on board with insta-obsession and I will absolutely read it again if Genna writes it. I loved the passion and depths these two went for in order to protect one another and obtain their happily ever after. And that HEA was absolutely SWEET...and spicy. The bonus content will be forever living rent free in my mind.

I cannot recommend this dark, humorous, spicy, bloody story enough. It was the perfect amount of plot, smut, and honestly, just a damn good time. Genna has pulled me right into the Fate Trace world and I can’t wait to see where it takes us next.

I loved Haverhill Burning and was excited to read Genna Black's newest release. The idea of a serial killer vigalante romance brought to mind Dexter and Joker/Harley Quinn vibes.

It's definitely a super smexy insta-love story, with dual POV and novella length. But, it was probably a bit too dark for me to really fall in love with it.

I liked the idea of the MMC being the virgin this time, even if his learning curve was rather too accelerated to be believable. If only!😉 But hey, I don't necessarily read spicy books to stay grounded in the real world anyway.

Other than the spice, there are also some great lighter scenes that did appeal. Beck reading TK's romance books and their discussion of tropes made my day. And I found out about potato shifters!😆

So even though this one might have gone darker than I'd normally read, I can't say I wasn't intrigued by the other characters that may crop up in later books (Law!) And I'll still be keeping an eye out for more from this author!

Thank you to the author for providing an eARC for review.

Whew gotta collect my thoughts here

This man, Beck, our morally black-hearted, lacking humanity, and unliver of some really bad guy. (Mattia comes into more importance in book 2) He hasn't known love and happiness. Lost his mother young, his father was a horrible man, and his basically nonexistent bond with his brother (who he ends the life of on accident) really set up his beautifully broken soul.
By mere fate, or were they, his run-ins with TK sparked something in him he had never felt. To have that obsessive need to care for her. No matter what. He just knew from the first time he met her that there was something. She may be his first but he knows that he will be her last. Beck and TK have that fated kind of attraction. I love that they are equally obsessed with each other! This was soo good!

this book is FIRE 🔥 I LOVED IT and I was so captivated by the story and the characters. perfect for fans of Rina Kent’s God of Malice, No Small Sin has the unhinged MMC down to a flipping T. Plus, I love seeing an equally as unhinged FMC. Beck is PERFECTION. His character is *chef kiss* like he’s a cr@zy serial un@liver meets obsessive and soft only for her cutie bookish boyfriend. I legit would BURN THIS WORLD FOR HIM. 🥵

TK was so fun and bratty and also just as dark and dangerous as Beck, which I LOVE to see. Her darkness very much so matched his and it was a cataclysmic and sexy explosion between the two of them 🤣🫶 The dark humor and banter was everything 🤌 Overall, I’m so impressed with this. It was short and fun while not sacrificing quality, character building and spicy scenes. Speaking of which, here’s some quotes from the spicy scenes to finish off this review. Enjoy 😏

Fantastic read

I was smitten with Beck from the beginning. It might be weird to call him adorable in his own weird way, but he totally was.
TK was funny AF and I loved the way she operated. At one point I thought she fell a bit out of character for what I expected, but she totally came back swinging! I want to know what happens to Hunt and Ijah and Law and Alec and the other players after what happened after the events in No Small Sin. Fingers crossed we'll get more of this world!

Pleasantly Unexpected

This was an absolutely adorable yet dark story! Dark rom com, almost seems like an oxymoron but seriously describes this book to a T. I’d also add sweet, cozy, and super spicy to the descriptors.

Watching Beck fall in love with TK and experience so many new emotions was so freaking sweet… and watching TK shove/stalk her way into Beck’s life was hilarious.

The spice is top notch, and there are definitely dark elements to this story.

The ending will keep you are your toes trying to figure out what is happening!

Deliciously Sinful! I couldn't get enough of TK and Beck! The plot was on fire, and every time I was sure I knew where their story was headed, another incredible plot twist stormed in. This was a literal page turner with steamy hot scenes in and out of the bedroom. I've never wanted to take up golf before, and I'm pretty sure I've changed my mind and could go for 21 holes now. There were so great other characters, too, and I so hope that Hunter gets her own story soon! 5 stars for this dark delight!
