The wealthiest family in the Canaan Valley has several problems, which its members handle using discretion—or maybe secrecy is a better word. But when one of their members is murdered, their secrets are revealed as sisters Andrea and Kathleen help Sheriff Ward Sterling investigate the murder.
The sisters feel it’s especially important to figure out who the murderer is, since their friend, Deputy Willard Hill, is the prime suspect. They know Willard couldn’t possibly be guilty, but finding out who is turns out to be difficult. Several people will profit from the death, and there are a few more who had reasons to dislike the deceased.
In spite of a serious threat from the murderer, Andrea and Kathleen persist, hunting for hidden diaries, reviewing security camera records, and interviewing members of the family. Their friend Willard is scheduled to marry one of the daughters of this wealthy family, but the wedding has been postponed until the murder is solved. The sisters want Willard to be cleared so the wedding can proceed as planned. More important, they must solve the case before the killer silences them.

Helen grew up in West Virginia and now lives in Texas, and both states provide settings for her novels. Her work includes cozy mysteries, suspense novels, a World War II espionage novel, and short stories, all available through Amazon for Kindle. The novels are also available in paperback.

Solid 3
Decent mystery but nothing that really hit me about it. Turns out I'd read it before in '15 but liked it more then. It uses the less-aware friend of sleuth as narrator well.

This is the third in the series. I thought the narrator did a good job to enhance the story. She used many different inflections to portray the various characters.
The location is West Virginia's enchanting Canaan Valley. The amateur sleuths are: Andrea Flynn, a retired math teacher, and her sister Kathleen Williamson.
One of Maggie Flynn’s, Andrea and Kathleen’s niece, hired help is engaged to Deputy Willard Hill. It appears someone is framing Willard for the murder of his future mother-in-law.
There are plenty of family secrets that not everyone in the family is privy to know.
I enjoyed the twists and turns and was surprised who the killer turned out to be.
The new narrator’s voice enhanced the characters and didn’t make them sound so creepy.
Looking forward to the next book on audio.

This series continues to prove entertaining and enjoyable. Returning to the valley for a deputy Willards wedding, things are thrown into chaos when the mother of the bride is murdered and he is the prime suspect. The story is well written as always and has great characters so likeable and some not. I really liked this and have just bought the next. Narration is good but the change of narrator is noticeable as she does not have the range of the one for the first two books. Highly recommended. I received a complimentary copy of the audio and am leaving a voluntary honest review.

"Hunter's Moon" by Helen Haught Fanick is a wonderful addition to her Moon Mystery Series! Whenever possible, I try to read a series from the beginning and that's what I did with Ms. Fanick's books. "Moon Signs" and "Moonlight Mayhem" introduced me to her cast of unique and likeable characters, especially Kathleen and Andrea, and they took me to the Canaan Valley in West Virginia, a wild and beautiful area. Each book involved me in an intriguing mystery and, like the others, "Hunter's Moon" kept me turning the pages, trying to figure out who the killer was.
I highly recommend this book and the others in her series and I'm eagerly awaiting the next one!

Just as good as the first 2!
I love this series & the main characters. It's kind of a cozy mystery but not sappy. The plot is very well thought out & I didn't have any idea who the culprit was.

Light reading
Easy reading, without complex plot. Characters well described, so you get a good picture of personalities. An easy read for an afternoon.
