Interesting story with great characters. I did occasionally want to slap the back of a couple of heads but that was all part of the story. I enjoyed the story and I'm looking forward to Sam and MJ's story.
Corrine was in her Tiger form enjoying a late, lazy afternoon run on her property, stretching in the warm sunlight, taking a dip in the cool waters, drying off on the fading warmth of a large rock and taking a short cat nap in the now evening part of the day. She scented him first, then saw the massive tiger shifter standing nearby simply watching her. Anger was her first reaction, that he dared invade her privacy, her sanctuary then that small shiver of fear that could not be ignored as he continued to stand and stare at her. Just as she was making the decision to fight or run, he shifted… into the handsome man who’d been in her bakery daily, the one she already had a bit of a crush on.
So begins Jett and Corrine’s romance. While their animal halves may recognize each other as mates at first sight, it’s gong to take the human sides a bit longer to come to that realization.
Corrine is a strong, independent woman who runs her own business, Sweet Confections, along with her best friend. Her delicious cupcakes, muffins and other goodies have been the delight of her family for years and now she’s bringing in a growing customer base with her bakery. She’s noticed the handsome man coming in every day for “goodies for the office”. Hard not to notice his sexy smile and constant goodbye wink. But so far he hasn’t done more than smile and wink, so Corrine’s fantasy remained in her own head… until he showed up in her backyard in his tiger form.
Jett has known about Corrine for years, although they’d never met. Her brother Sam is a good friend, and her care packages to her brother during their college years were famous for her delightful bake goods. When he moved into town and began his new job the goodies brought into the office were familiar to him and he sought out the source of those memories the cupcakes invoked. He never expected his tiger to sit up and take notice, let alone hear mate and forever constantly in his head from that pesky feline… until the night he followed his tiger’s instincts and tracked her to her home and made his move.
Craving More is a fun, sexy romp through those awkward first days of a new love – nothing is ever truly easy, but getting to the happy ending is the fun part of the journey. Corrine sees herself as purely average, nothing special about her to attract the handsome Jett. On the other side, Jett knows his attraction for Corrine – it’s his past that’s getting in his way. Jett has a stalker, psycho ex-girlfriend who has caused him a lot of trouble and second thoughts about that forever commitment he’ll one day need to make to his mate. World building and secondary characters are important to me when committing to a series. The secondary characters in Craving More are delightful and well fleshed out giving me enough of a glimpse to look forward to as I continue the series. World building is lighter, yet there is enough to tell me that Shifters are out and about in this world, still trying to remain somewhat private but not afraid of the humans they share this world with. And there is a Guild within this world to police and deal with Shifter problems.
While there were a few times that I wanted to grab Jett by the scruff of the neck and deliver a few growls in his face about not walking away from issues but dealing with them at the time – I did “get” why he often reacted badly to situations. Overall, I enjoyed Craving More very much, enough so that even though this copy was gifted to me by the author, I went out and purchased the next story and the holiday novella in this series last night. I think that should say something about what I feel about the Tiger Nip series. Officially this got a 4.5 rating which will round up on various posting sites.
Sometimes I have to wonder what people are thinking when they rate books like these 4 or 5 stars. Are you people selective at all? Do you not care about the actual quality of the story and only that it has a few sex scenes and the obligatory violence/conflict to actually make it slightly interesting? I'm not trying to offend anyone but I see this a lot. A bad book with great reviews and an almost 4 star rating. There's really no substance to this book; not world building or really depth to the characters, a good plot, or good drama. Miscommunication was literally the driving force behind the plot. This was obnoxious. So I want to know why people give these books such high ratings. Because this was bad. I mean really bad. Why was tiger capitalized throughout the entire book? I'll ignore grammar this time because it was honestly the least of this book's problems. These characters are weak. The only one I enjoyed was Sam. "She was strong and independent" and the guy was shocked she had let him hold the reins this long. Seriously? She does everything anyone tells her to do. No backbone. I have no love for weak characters; he walks out on her numerous times and she falls apart and when he shows up again instead of handing him his head on a platter she practically falls at his feet begging him to take her back. Oh god; this is Twilight. DX Seriously. And the self esteem issues? I get it. I have a few myself I'm far from perfect. But holy shit have some pride woman. He doesn't call for a few days and suddenly she's bawling like a baby and yelling at everyone because he "fucked her and left her." I'm done with weak females; I see enough of them in real life. I want something better out of the heroines in the books I read. She so doesn't cut it. Onto the male. He's.... so flat. Uninteresting. The author gave him a psychotic ex to add some spice to his life and a conflict they can eventually deal with together to realize their love for each other. *Yawn* And he's weak. Seriously? You can't handle one skinny female? She knocks him on his ass with a shove. This 6 foot something freaking tiger shifter and this skinny chick knocks him flat on his ass with nothing but a shove of her dainty hands. So now Colline has to deal with her in a tiger fight to show us all how strong she is. I'm done. This book has not been worth the amount of time I took to read it or to write this review. And I hate leaving bad reviews, I do. I enjoy reading so much and I get so excited when I have a new book but I get angry when the premise sounds good and the book is crap.
Craving More begins with Corrine Hart. Simple yet elegant, average yet beautiful – she is your common variety female. No perfect woman (because really, that gets old) with a slim waist and ruby red lips. She is not grandiose in her completely unaware beauty, but a fabulous cook with integrity, respect, and absolutely no compunctions about wanting Jett Montgomery-Murphy, or Murph. Hesitant, yes, and not bold enough to pursue the handsome ‘Hunky Cupcake Guy’.
Initially the story starts off without missing a beat. Girl is single and alone. Girl wants boy, but figures he’s too beautiful for her. Turns out, boy most certainly wants girl, and not just for her cupcakes. The catch? Brandy creates a wondrous world of feline fancy – they are cats, and not the Persian kitties, but large tigers, panthers…the kind that are 900+ lbs and could eat your head in a single bite. The first mention that these are a different kind of shape-shifting humans almost confused me at first – Brandy weaves the little side note as almost an afterthought, but you soon escape into the beauty and rituals of this created universe, and I was very much impressed.
Corrine’s story starts with her bakery – something she built herself and she’s very much proud of establishing herself. As I said, Corrine and Murph hit it off and tangle, much to her surprise. The book is pretty much Corrine dealing with how she feels about Murph, who he really is, and the baggage he appears to be carrying. The POVs are from both Corrine and Murph, and you get to see a very real human side to instant attraction vs proper courting, or rather, if she should even bother. Without spoiling it, I enjoyed the chase as well as the romantic scenes, which are not done over the top. I do wish it was a little longer (it is novella sized), but I am looking forward to learning more about the supporting characters like her brother, her best friend and roommate, as well as the intricacies of the feline hierarchy that they live by.
Wholeheartedly recommend Craving More by Brandy Walker for the creative universe and because she’s my oldest friend. Biased? A little, but it’s still a very good read, definitely worth the money.
I really enjoyed this first book in the 'Tiger Nip' series, "Craving More", by Ms. Walker. It wasn't as hot and spicy as some of the other Shifter books I have read, but it was a sweet romance that was very well written.
I really do disagree with another reviewers comment that Jett & Corrine should not have had sex right off at the beginning of the story. For me, I thought the way the story started out was extremely well-done and drew me right into the story. It grabbed my attention right off and held it looking for more.
I enjoyed having the author give us some background about the two main characters, especially about why Jett had the trust issues that he had by not wanting to put his trust in Corrine. I also enjoyed reading about the two secondary characters, Sam & MJ. I look forward to reading more about them and watching as things develop between them.
This was a great start in a new series by a new and upcoming author, and I look forward to reading more from Brandy Walker.
First book in a new series by Brandy Walker. What do you do when you fall for your best friends sister? It’s totally against the “Bro code” but tiger shifter Jett has been falling for Corrine it seems like since he roomed with her brother Sam in college. He hadn’t actually met her but pictures and stories kept him looking for more. When he finally meets her for the first time his tiger roars “MINE”. Now all he has to do is convince Corrine and hope Sam doesn't kill him. I love shifter stories. Tigers are a particular favorite of mine so I was prepared to enjoy this story. I wasn't disappointed. Ms. Walker has created a world where shifters are “out” and part of society with their own sub-culture and hierarchy. This is a sexy, sweet romance with a smoking hot tiger who falls head over tail for the short zoftig tigress. The secondary characters are great and I can’t wait for Sam to get his comeuppance.
Craving More is the debut for Brandy Walker as well as the first in a shifter series.
This is the story of Corrine Hart, a baker who owns her own shop and Jett Montgomery-Murphy, who is part of the powerful shifter family and old best friend of Corrine’s brother.
Irresistible cupcakes have brought the two together and with strong feelings that neither can deny, both Corrine and Jett have to decide if they can overcome other issues to be with their destined mate.
Craving More is a quick easy read with likeable characters and does show potential of being a fun series to read. There is plenty of banter between the main characters which is always a joy to read and also makes the reader interested in finding out more. I am interested to see how this series will develop.
This book would have been a lot of fun if all the characters were not stupider than dirt. What was probably meant to be character quirks were just annoying. The quirks did not get any better and most turned out to be serious flaws. Who nearly makes his new found mate pass out after turning his alpha power on her?! Just because she didn't explain fast enough!!! A loving brother who expects her to follow his every command?! A sane woman who has a guy treat her the way the stupid hero did and takes him back with a smile, three times!!!! Thirty minutes of my life I will not get back😠
Wow I loved this book so much I couldn't put it down. I am just glad that it had some hot and steamy love scenes. I love those. Corrine is one lucky and sassy woman to have that hot Jett's affection.Thank you for the wonderful story, I really enjoyed it.
The beginning of the Tiger Nip series. Corrine is a tiger shifter. While she is enjoying an evening run in fur a very large male tiger appears on her property. When he shifts to his human form Corrine recognizes him as a customer of her bakery. He has been chatting up one of her staff. A beautiful skinny young woman. Corrine knows she is too big for today's fashion. So what is he doing standing naked in her woods? Jett has been trying to get Corrine to speak to him for weeks, but she keeps avoiding him..So he must force the meeting. He is an old college friend of her twin brother, and has wanted to get to know her ever since. Jett has a stalker, a crazy ex girlfriend who refuses to let go. The ex has made him very wary of dating another shifter. He is not ready to settle down. Corrine let's herself fall for the gorgeous shifter, but as soon as she says her brother is coming he runs for the hills. Dating his best friend's sister is not a good idea. Jett wants Corrine but is unsure If he can risk being with her. Corrine is falling for Jett but he seems to be ashamed of her. When the danger turns up someone has to sort it out. A good shifter story, with lovely characters

I was completely blown away by this book. I am still having a hard time accepting that this was Brandy Walker’s first published book. Walker did an amazing job and I am very glad that she decided to become an author.
The characters, although they are shifters, are very realistic in human form. The female lead character, Corrine, is not the usual super skinny, weak woman that are featured in most books. Corrine is a strong, thick, and independent woman that is very capable of taking care of herself. She doesn’t like to depend on anyone or let others help her. The lead male character, Jett, is very down to earth, charming, and sexy. He comes from a respectable family with an important background but he doesn’t flaunt it. They work perfectly together. Jett works very hard to tame his wild tigress while raging an internal war with his own feelings. Craving More is hot, steamy, and full of excitement. There is never a dull moment. Although the storyline is amazing, the characters are what made me fall in love with this book.
I was very surprised how great this book is. Like I mentioned before, Craving More is Walker’s first published book. I regret letting it sit on my desk for so long before reading it. I will definitely be buying Claiming More, Book #2, Sam and MJ’s story, very soon. Keep up the amazing work Brandy Walker!
It didn't matter if she knew him or not, the woman and tiger in her both agreed they wanted him. Needed him to quench the all-consuming fire he ignited in her.
.His heart stopped in his chest, the feeling of home and comfort shoved his panic aside. He knew then he would have her for his own. Forever. There would be no other man or tiger sniffing around her thinking he had a chance. His tiger had made the choice for them and he needed to stop arguing with him. That elusive peace he couldn't find before settled around him quieting the restless beast within and the human on the outside.
These are 2 quotes from the book.It talks of the Tiger within. That the Tiger is the dominant one. This is a love story told with passion & Humor. I like that Corrine is not a skinny size zero! Yes other women are sexy also!! Being a baker I could relate with Corrine.
If you are looking for an exciting read you can stop looking you found it. You should get your copy today. I could hardly stop reading it. Lack of sleep right now cause I stayed up to finish this book. Hope you like it as much as I did.....Pam
I won't lie; I read this book because I was sick of looking at the ugly cover in my TBR list. He looks like some duck-billed Cro-Magnon in that picture. Yuck. But I held out hope that the story might be ok. It wasn't, not in my opinion anyway.
I thought the hero was a wimpy ass and every other male in the book was condescending and patronizing toward women. The women fell into only two camps. Good girls who were the potential mates of the male characters or crazy, violent bitches not worth consideration or humanity. There was no significant plot. Random things just happened. The world, despite seeming interesting, wasn't developed enough for me to feel invested in. The characters lacked depth and I was basically bored for most of the book.
Corrine Hart can't keep from thinking about the new customer that has been coming in, everything about him has her cat purring. Corrine doesn't believe he would ever be interested in her, until he shows up and she realizes he too is a tiger.
Jett Montgomery-Murphy believes that Corrine is his mate. However, Jett is biding his time to get to know her first, after his last relationship went terribly wrong. A few mistakes though make for a rocky courtship and Jett could end up losing his mate altogether.
This was a good one, but I felt for Corrine. You understand Jett's reluctancy because you get to read his thoughts, but in doing so he is hurting Corrine. Fun read.
Yet another Author that is new to me and writing in a genre that I am also new to. Well Brandy Walker you have helped convince me even further that I love shifter romances and I also loved your writing style!
First off I should admit that I love tigers so the idea of a tiger shifter really appealed to me. The characters are well portrayed and the story flowed smoothly from start to finish. You could feel the attraction between Jett & Connie sizzling off of the page, especially during their intimate moments.
I also liked the characters of MJ and Sam and really hope that the second book in this series is their story.
All in all a very good book that I totally enjoyed!
Honestly, I bought this because it was fairly inexpensive and seemed like it would be an ok read. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. While on the short side, the characters were very well written although there were a few times it seemed like conversations were deliberately cut off to allow for more plot development. While I'm sure this is a useful literary tactic, as the reader, it made me want to yell at the characters like men do football games. "Come on" Tell him about the thing!" But it was well worth the money and I'm looking forward to the next book.
...like tigers. ...enjoy shapeshifters of the not-always-werewolf variety. ...don't mind a creepy psycho ex. ...don't mind when miscommunication is one of the driving plot points. ...like sexy outdoor times.
Enjoyable. The secondary characters have an intriguing set-up for their book. *thumbs up*
"3 out of 5 stars. This novella is more suspenseful then I expected, from the way you can never guess what Jett and Corrine will decide about their love lives next to trying to understand all of the other secondary plots that come along, it'll definitely keep you on your toes."
Corinne is out for a relaxing stroll & run as her tiger when she encounters the yummy man who´s a regular in her bakery - but now as his tiger. A smutty encounter later and Jett is convinced she´s his mate, but he´s got a lot of baggage, not to mention that she´s his best friends little sister. Can they make it work? Smutty fluff, sexual teasing and two tigers finding their HEA. Looking forward to her brothers story next.
The guy is a commitmentphobe who doesn't want to deal with a permanent relationship due to his past. The girl is unsure what to do and let's the man lead. I'm wondering if anyone will write a book where the woman says F U and makes the man work for it instead of just giving in.
This was just ok for me. I think the author needed to spend a little more time with character/world building. It got a little confusing as the author failed at the delivery and making it clear what state the characters were currently in. This definitely should have been longer and could stand a good editor. Not Recommended unless you are just looking for a very quick read.
first in new series. Jett is best friends with Corrine's brother so that automatically should mean she is off limits. Nope, one hookup later and they try to hide their feelings for each other and from her brother, then throw in a crazy ex stalker and things get interesting. Already got second book to see what happens next.
short but oh so sweet tale of tiger shifters. enjoyed it, but there are some annoying spelling errors that really got my back up. I mean, he wanted to know why he hadn't drug her away!! but for a freebie, not bad.
3.3 stars. It was good althought our hero never did really get a chance to shine as one. He was goofing up left and right and then allowing the crazy lady to rub up against him naked after he just walked out on his intended, again... Kinda spoiled it for me.
A great story with very erotic love scenes. Jett and Corrine have a hard time fighting their individual issues but overcome it all and realize they are mates. Great story with great secondary characters and very steamy love scenes Highly recommend.
AWESOME read. There is nothing better than shifters and Romance. Brandy Walker nailed it on this one and I cannot wait to read more. Must read. The story of Corrine and Jett is just fluent and on key as they discover their feeling.
Nice but fast. Would have love more drama, suspens and intensity. And a Jett a bit more alpha male. Didn t feel like a tiger but more like a kitten sometimes.
