Meanwhile. back in Boston. a weary police detective investigates the murder of a fingerless woman found floating in the harbor. How the bloated corpse is tied into the detective's and the pilot's lives is the centerpiece in this story that takes place over only 7 days and nights. Excellent read. The author compellingly links the characters together in a captivating timeframe and venue. I could hear the glasses clink and taste the smoky lounges of Post- War Detroit. I had to smile at Detective McCarthy. He was , indeed, an asset to this cast of interesting characters. The book left me looking forward to the authors next novel.

Charles J. Pickelhaupt's debut novel is a page turner! Set just after the end of WWII, the character development, descriptions, great period details, and character interaction all combine to make this an enjoyable novel. Set in Detroit, Boston, and Maine, this fast-paced story keeps the reader eager to find our more about both the romance, and the murder, and how the two can possibly be linked!
